Alice West and the Transform Your Space team are, hands down, the best in the business! I should know because I hired Alice 5 times within 6 months. I was looking for a company because I had fallen into the trap of letting things go in terms of getting rid of older items, using my sons old room to store stuff, and generally being lazily complacent in certain areas of my house. Alice and team 'transformed' my walk- in closet and computer desk area, my son's old room (second bedroom) including closet, my kitchen cabinets, and my entire garage. I chose Transform Your Space because of my initial interaction with Alice. I found her website and saw exceptional reviews on various platforms, called, and expected to speak with an operator or administrator, but after talking for a few moments was pleasantly surprised to learn it was actually Alice after she identified herself. I had been going through some challenging times that lead my letting things get so disorganized and I was concerned I might be judged, that the tasks would be too overwhelming as I found them, and that there might be a lack of empathy. All of that went away literally in moments once Alice described her approach to her business and what she could accomplish. She really listened to me as I described what I needed done and my insecurities of letting someone into my home. The caring and ability to relate through her prior projects to me solidified my decision. She let me know that pictures were helpful to prepare her and team for how many people would be needed, time to complete projects, and gave an idea how best to approach it overall. I sent them for the first job and she immediately made me feel better that it wasn't that bad. We set the appointment and she gave me an estimate of the project cost along with the deposit required for the initial work which is later refunded. She also explained that they donate to Goodwill, work with assorted consignment stores, Working Women's Wardrobe (which I did donate some suits to especially after Alice explained that it helps those struggling to find work and need the clothing for interviews, etc). The best part is they take everything away including televisions and equipment of various kinds, and I kept asking Alice, "Can this be donated?", and she never said no! They give you itemized lists for tax purposes and email any done through organizations so you have it for your files. The day of my first appointment, I was still a little apprehensive because seeing a picture can be different from being face to face with the actual 'disaster' (as I referred to it as). Alice arrived right on time with a team member. She had a gentle and compassionate demeanor from the get go and I quickly felt like I was in good hands. She came with all necessary supplies including options to utilize her organizational bins, holders, etc. (she even got me a great plastic compressible ladder for my closet to reach taller shelves and that I now use throughout the house! She thinks of EVERYTHING!) She has a label maker that has made such a difference in accessing what I need after the fact. No more fumbling around and having to take everything out to find something! They bring trash bins and bags for sorting too. Alice is very dialed in to environmental concerns so is tenacious in the separating stages , including if something is hazardous waste. They start by tackling areas and separating items and then ask you to decide what you want to do with it. And before you know it, you start seeing clear progress which is so gratifying especially if you've been drowning in a mess of just too much stuff! As I hired Alice multiple times, it became my choice to stay nearby and work hand and hand to get things done quicker. I quickly realized I had been holding on to too many things that weren't important and she helped me 'let go' and really keep what was and is important. It was cathartic and I felt free from the burden of having so much. The finished product is so overwhelming that I felt like crying in relief! On Day 1, Laura came; she's great--super-organized, very efficient and good company too! On Day 2, Laura came back & was joined by Jenny, another great organizer who is also very pleasant to work with and wonderfully organized & efficient. These two ladies are absolute gems! They both worked hard & steadily, and even managed to keep *me* on task (no small feat!). I am so very pleased with how much we got done in just two half-days. We were having trouble finding a team that could help us sort and organize over 40 years of accumulated memories, belongings, trash, etc. in my Mother's 2500 square foot house. We met with Alice and did a walk-thru of the home. She was very confident that her team could help, and gave us a reasonable estimate and a timeline of only 4 days to get the house back into shape. Having attempted (and failed) this type of task 7 times over the past 15 years ourselves, we were skeptical that it could be done at all, let alone in only 4 days, but we put down a deposit and scheduled the job. I worked with Alice to clean out and organize my garage and she was AMAZING! At first I wasn't sure it was worth it to pay for help to clear out clutter, but it was so worth it! At 8+ months pregnant, my nesting project was to finish unpacking moving boxes in garage, donate misc items and organize the chaos that was my garage. Alice arrived on time and ready to work. She seems petite, but looks can be deceiving because she is super strong and was able to move and carry things like nothing! She works quickly and efficiently and gives you ideas on how to best organize and maximize your space. She brings a Mary Poppins like bag with everything from pop-up trash and donations bags, to extra storage boxes and a label maker! She also comes in a minivan and is able to fold up recycling boxes and bag up all donations and take them with her! (Even half used toiletries she brings to a shelter!) She also did some quick Craigslisting to sell any nicer donation items that I had and scheduled a donation pick-up for a giant 11ft couch (when I couldn't find any charity to take it!). Alice and her two woman team finished our garage transformation today, and my husband and I are delighted. In fact, we keep wandering out in the garage just to marvel over it. I found Alice via Google and then checked out her Yelp ratings, as I did with a couple of other professional organizers. Our last move the movers packed for us and it was a mess and we never really settled into this place like we wanted to. We had way too much stuff and I was completely overwhelmed by the thought of packing. Using Transform your Space was so much better than movers to pack and the cost for packing is only more because they are spending the time to get you organized to make it easier on the other side. Hourly rate is not that different though. My experiencw with movers is they just throw things into a box. I've had so many things damaged by liquids leaking or just not being able to find things on the other side. My father recently passed away and my mom has monumental amounts of stuff to declutter. My mom has been in her house for over 30 years and not much has exited her home since moving there.
