I really liked Andrea and her team! The service and communication were top notch!! Unfortunately the actual result was a bit off, so I'm just going to focus on points of improvement below. The containers they sold me and used just weren't right for the job. Afterwards I felt a little bugged that I had to pay for this choice; I couldn't access anything easily and have since gotten rid of them. Additionally, I felt this was probably a 2 person job - they shouldn't have sent one person to do it and can't blame her for this. It took her all day until very late, and I felt for her. Lastly, several items were placed in incorrect bins (in spite of coming from correctly labeled bins, I'm sure she was very tired by the end). Most frustratingly of all, 2 heavy bins were placed on the very highest shelves, in spite of me specifically asking in advance that this be avoided. I'd told them I'm a small person and not that strong, please, I don't want heavy items on the highest shelves. But it happened anyway. And when I needed access to an item in that bin, I took it down and could not lift it back up there, so it ended up living on the floor. I was just frustrated and a bit unsatisfied. I posted a review earlier, and Amanda contacted me immediately to come by and fix the situation. So again, the service is great. But sadly... how this part was handled wasn't thoughtful. I didn't have time to fix it with her right away - the reason I hired an organizer is because I don't have time. She asked me how they could rectify things which ... I had no idea. I didn't have time to sit down and brainstorm solutions for their work. I couldn't think of a solution so I told her I'd think and get back to them after NYE. She continued to text and email me, and I realized she just wanted the 3 star review removed and that this pressure would continue unless I removed it. So I did. Since then I hired a company called Life In Jeneral to come redo everything. And they did an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC JOB. I am beyond impressed with them, what they do is next level. They listened to every single thing I said, asked questions in advance, collaborated with me in the design, and created a space that makes me incredibly HAPPY every single time I walk into it. I always thought I was a pretty organized person... until I met Amanda Clark. Amanda is my neighbor and, like me, she is a mom. I hired Amanda while we were in the middle of finishing a whole home remodel. She helped me purge items from our rental property before we moved. As a Dad, the garage is my domain, my one place in the house where I make the decisions......and as a result it became the messiest and most unorganized place in our entire home. Like most husbands, I told my wife week after week, month after month, that I would "clean it out soon". Amanda did our garage which was packed to the brim to the point where we could barely walk around inside. It only took two 6 hour days. We filled a 25 ft dumpster. I was shocked and relieved knowing all it took was some help from others. I think a big part of hiring a person to help you sort through years of memories and junk is picking someone who you feel at ease with. Amanda has empathy and will give you the emotional space you need to figure out what you would like to keep or let go of in a timely manner. So basically you're hiring a hoarder Sherpa, or doula. It is like giving birth in a way. You're creating new space but in order to do that you need to get rid of things and it can be quite painful to do so! So you need someone there to help you not get stuck and stall out during this process--which is why people like me need a professional organizer because we get stuck and quit. She will gently encourage you and make sure to keep you on track. So you do need to be emotionally ready to let go and have some idea of what's important to you. But if you're still not sure about everything you have and want to keep, she has amazing advice. Her ideas for managing keepsakes and many other things going forward were so helpful.
