It took about three weeks for them to complete the job but they made me aware of that when I gave them the photos. This reminded me of the hundreds of old photos and VHS videos that I have at home and that I never get to see. I telephoned Transfer For Less in July, and spoke with the proprietor, named Grazie. I asked if she could transfer 8 mm and 16 mm film to uncompressed AVI format. She said no, they only do MP4 format. I said okay. Anyway, on 7/20/22, I brought two films to the store on Bethany Home & 16th St. Grazie was there, and I asked again about the movie formats. She said, "Oh, we can do AVI format." I said fine, please do it that way. I returned 27 days later to pick up my order. The work was terrible! The files played in Windows, but the frame rate was way off on one of them, and the action was too fast. The same one had motionless speckles of dirt on it, like the technician hadn't cleaned the optics. The other film had some speckles, but not as bad. That file was very grainy and had a yellowish tinge. Neither file was compatible with my Movie Studio software, which I use to narrate the movies. And both files were clearly compressed in file size, not like uncompressed AVI. I called Grazie the next day, and she pointed out that she had told me earlier they didn't do AVI format! I said, "But when I was in your store, you told me you could." I can't say that Transfer For Less wouldn't do more acceptable work if you requested MP4 format. And on the positive side, I can attest that their turn-around time was quite good. However, I'm not happy with my order, and can't recommend this place. read more

Turns out only one dvd did this I've been seeing an issue where watching a scene while I'm having Christmas with my family and sadly I'll get switched back to me and San Diego and Vegas switch right back to me and Christmas a little kid and then back to Christmas this is unacceptable. I brought in about 80 reels of my Dad's old 8mm reels that were from 1954-1978. They took them all and got it all put on a USB stick that I was able to look at and view on a computer. They got all of this done in about 3 weeks and it was the perfect Christmas present for my dad and all of his older family. They loved seeing their mom and dad again. It is Hours of film that was just sitting in a chest and we had no way to even play it. They got it saved for us forever now. Thank you so much! First let me talk about Grazia, the owner of the store on 16th Street and Bethany. My sister and I brought in thousands of slides dating back to the early 1960's to transfer to digital. Grazia understood the importance of this to us and spent lot of time suggesting different ways we could organize them, etc. We took them back home, made some changes in our arrangement then brought them back. We knew this would cost $$ and take a lot of time. Sure, we could have paid less to send them out to a large company but living in central Phoenix, I prefer to feed the local businesses and we wanted our slides safe with someone we could trust. Well, with Grazia we felt 100% comfortable!! All of those slides were put onto one flash drive and the quality of the photos is incredible, better than looking at it on our old 70's projector and we can view them on the big screen and create our own files if we want.
