I tried to complete this task myself and had 7 tapes that I couldn't do. I reach out to Got Memories and they immediately made me feel like they could do the job. I cannot say enough to describe the joy Phil and his team have given my family. I had over 100 films going back to the 1940's that they were able to transfer to digitize. It was no easy task sorting them at my end, but they put them in order, cleaned them up and presented them to use with flash drives and easily opened links. And it didn't take them very long. They run an extremely friendly and professional organization. THEY ARE THE BEST AT THIS! I highly recommend! read more

Transferred old vhs and other old tapes. A little pricey, but worth it. Now all those are on a little usb thumb drive.

I decided to digitize my VHS tapes on my own but ran into some problems with three of them. I watched some of Phil's videos on his Got Memories YouTube page. They were very informative, but I decided it was best to leave it to the expert himself, especially since I don't have an infinite amount of VCRs to switch between. Haha. Phil got back to me immediately when I requested a quote, made the shipping process easy (he emailed a UPS label), and was able to salvage my VHS tapes that had issues. He got the downloadable conversions to me within days of receiving the tapes and mailed the originals back. I really appreciate the fast and reliable service. Phil is dealing with very precious memories, and he takes the responsibility very seriously. read more

Phil is absolutely phenomenal! I was looking on YouTube for a way to transfer my data from our old Sony Camcorder discs and luckily stumbled upon an informational video uploaded by Phil about the very thing I was looking for. The video was great, but I knew I was probably in over my head so I called the number right then (after business hours) and he picked up! I knew he was based in Phoenix but wanted to know if there was a store front so I could drop everything off. I told him what I had and he assured me it wouldn't be a problem transferring everything. I had some cassette tapes from an earlier camcorder, also not a problem he said. Later he texted me with directions (and another helpful video!) on how to "finalize" my discs so he didn't have to charge me for that if I was able to do it. (I still had the camcorder and was able to easily follow the directions.) Phil knows what he's doing!!! Send everything you have to him right now. Stop putting off this chore and instead take a walk or two down memory lane with your new digitized videos! He sent everything back about a week later with a jump drive. You also get a download link you can share or download to your device or another external hard drive. It's super easy to share with grandma, aunts, uncles, cousins, kids, whoever! He was a joy to work with and sooooo knowledgeable! I couldn't be happier with his work and I'm so happy I found him on YouTube. I 100% recommend Phil. He even restores other company's less than stellar results. You will not be disappointed!!! read more

Got Memories did a tremendous job digitizing our 8mm and Super 8mm silent and sound home movies! These 193 reels cover our family's history from 1943 thru 1989 and are priceless. Phil and his team at Got Memories were careful with these ancient artifacts of history and were able to restore them to all their colorful glory so that we can enjoy them well into the 21st century and beyond. Got Memories is one of the only firms, that I know of, that digitizes each roll without splicing them onto larger reels. While this may increase the labor on their part, it preserves each 50 foot roll with their corresponding boxes that contain priceless details regarding dates and people contained therein. This, in turn, makes my job easier indexing these films so that I know who, when and what they entail. I highly recommend Phil and the good folks at Gotmemories.com! Awesome service and a great result indeed. read more

Amazing quality VHS to digital conversion! Phil has a passion for his work and for customer service. If you're trying to decide where to take your precious VHS tapes to have converted to digital, look no further. When you walk into Phil's shop you can see first hand all the high end equipment he uses for the conversions. I had full confidence that I found the best place to take my VHS tapes. Phil gives you his cell number and texts you with updates during the process. It doesn't get any better than this. I had originally considered sending my tapes to an online service but quickly realized the dangers with that. I had a friend tell me she sent her tapes out to a large online company and the tapes got lost and were never found. So sad. After going through the process with Phil I fully understood even more why having a smaller family owned business like Phil's shop do the work. It's so important to know who is going to be doing the work and that they actually CARE about their work and service. I had a total of 35 VHS tapes converted to DVD and USB drives. I had 4 total copies of the USB drives made. The quality of the videos looks amazing. All tapes are numbered and the digital videos are also number with their corresponding tape number. This makes the locating the tape on the USB or DVD very simple. I found the price to be in line with other companies but considering the personal attention, service and quality you get with Phil, it seems like a bargain. read more

I shopped around in the Phoenix area and also other online services to transfer reels and tapes. Got Memories came out to be the best value overall, out of everyone. He and his team really know what they're doing and take the time to present your family memories with quality in an organized fashion. It might seem initially more expensive than others because he's upfront with pricing! With others, there were all these hidden fees and no guarantee to receive quality film back. I did not know initially but people from around the world send their film here - and now we know why!!! Thank you. It was a pleasure Got Memories!!!!!! They were very reasonably priced, professional, and included amazing customer service that is really hard to come by these days. I was able to show off my converted VHS and old video recorder tapes right from my phone or computer and I could share it with the whole family with one click! Looking forward to digitizing the rest and getting all these boxes out of the house. I highly recommend them! Thank you from our whole family !! read more

Hello. My name is Brandon McCloskey, and this review is for Got Memories. On September 10th I made contact with them through their website. And on that date I was actually getting ready to place an order with Legacybox. And I wanted to do some last-minute research, because we're talking about precious memories. I was going to be shipping off some Super 8 reels, 19 of them, to be exact, and I just wanted to feel good about this decision. So, after doing a little bit more research, I came across Got Memories and their YouTube channel, and I was amazed at the side-by-side they showed me between Legacybox and what they can do. And so, I went ahead and watched more YouTube videos, read the reviews online, and I decided this is the company I want to go with. So, I went ahead and sent them a message. They got a hold of me a day later. He gave me a quote that was very fair. On September 12th he sent me the invoice, I made the payment. He sent me a UPS label, already paid, so I can get it to them. I got the box put together, and on the 13th I sent it to him. And here it is, about a week later, the 20th of September, and just something in me told me that it was ready. And so, I sent an inquiry to see how it was going, and Phil got back to me and said it was all done. He sent me a download link. He sent me a UPS email saying that my reels were on their way back to me, because that's what I requested. So, then I downloaded them. He did warn me that some of the reels were dark, and honestly, I was surprised to get anything back, because these reels were from the late 60s and 70s, and they had been through various forms of storage. They had always been in this tin that I have, and they've been in storage sheds, they've been in warm environments, cold environments, boxes, buckets, various things. So, I was just surprised to get anything back. And so, when I downloaded them, I took a deep breath and hit play... For the younglings watching this video, Super 8 rarely recorded audio, and if you had an audio recording one, you were blessed, and you obviously had some money. So, I went ahead and watched them, and it was amazing to relive those moments. Number one, I forgot that they were only three minutes long. And number two, it was just- the quality was unbelievable. For the most part it was vibrant and bright. It was like you were watching it from a modern day camcorder in some instances. And so, it took me right back to my childhood, because once or twice a year we would break out the old projector and projected it on the screen that my mom and dad had. So, it was nice seeing those memories again. My mom had passed away this past January, and my dad passed away in 1995. And so, being able to see them again, it was so awesome. And then, my oldest sister was in several of the videos, and seeing her as a baby - which, obviously, being the middle child, I probably don't remember her as a baby. So, being able to see those memories again, and having them in digital format where they're going to be safe for years to come, and being able to pass those along to my three sisters that are still with us... It was amazing. And the fact that he got it done so quickly, when some reviews have said months -- I was a little worried -- but he just got it to me real quick. And he's already given me a very good quote on VHS conversion. I'm in the process of compiling those. I'm hoping to get those shipped off next week. And when I do, I'll review them, and I'll make another review and send it over to Phil to put on his channel. But I definitely recommend them. If you have any questions, you're more than welcome to reach out to me. But definitely, Got Memories - don't go with the Big Box stores, don't go to Costco. I use them for VHS, but I'll talk about that next time. But don't go to Big Box, support local businesses, support small businesses, because the small business cares more, and they're going to do more for you, and they're going to do a really good job like Phil did for me. So, be blessed, and take care. read more

I had Phil digitize 36 reels of old Super 8 film that had been stashed away in a closet for the past 60 years or so. He was incredibly responsive throughout the process--usually responding to my questions within a few hours--and thoroughly professional. He did the whole job in two days and the results were excellent. Including time to ship the films back and forth, the job took like a week. The whole family is now enjoying these films that we haven't seen in decades. I did find some cheaper options online but I have absolutely no doubt that having Phil do the work was the right call. No problems, totally professional and workmanlike experience, and top-notch quality in the final results! Highly recommended. read more

This guy is incredible and very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of VCRs/Tapes etc. He's very straight forward and won't feed you nonsense before seeing your tapes. He called me as soon as he received my tapes and immediately starting checking them out to see what he was working with. I had a bunch of old dusty VHS home videos that weren't playing correctly at home anymore. We kept them in decent temperature but they weren't stored carefully, not taken care of at all over the years. He spent extra time configuring a VCR to realign my tapes and clean them up so they played correctly. The finished product he delivered was beyond amazing compared to what I would have had. Yes he's more expensive than other services but believe me, he puts a ton of effort into these tapes that you won't get for those cheap boxes. He also communicates very quickly which is a plus read more

This was a truly great experience. From the initial contact, Phil provided great customer service and very prompt responses. He answered all of my questions. I was pleasently surprised at the quality of some reels that were over 40 or 50 years old. I found old HI8 and MiniDV video tapes dating from 1989 and had to digitize them before it was too late. I found Got Memories in a Google search and decided to trust them with 10 tapes as an experiment. I couldn't have been happier with the results. The digitized copies turned out way better than I hoped and the turn around time as very fast. The process turned out so well I turned around and had Phil process another batch of 10. I had some old VHS tapes I wanted to be made digital. I had a VHS player from eBay...put in 2 test VHS tapes. Both got eaten, This place is very correct about needing maintained VHS players. Before I found out about this place I read reviews in others. Extremely long wait, shoddy quality, no communication. Then saw this place pop up as I wanted to support local business and they are on it with their YouTube page. They know their stuff. I reached out and got a text back with a quote, sent my tapes out as they asked and a week later I had the digital video to download and solid audio and video considering it was 40 year old VHS tapes. Basically if you want to convert, really , spend the little extra here and have it done right, this is probably the only time you will convert so do it right. Worth every penny. Again. Just go with Got Memories, you are literally wasting you time and money with ANY other place. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about Got Memories. We converted 18 of my wife's childhood home cassette tapes to digital format. We were hesitant with the process at first after watching a few YouTube videos from other people that had their cassettes converted from one of the big box stores. The video quality came out worse than the original format, the sound wasn't synced correctly, and just looked sloppy. After reading so many great reviews for Got Memories, we contacted them to see what they're all about From the beginning, Phil was professional and super friendly. He explained the quote to us and went over in detail what the process was like. He kept us updated via text through the whole process which proved he could be trusted with my wife's videos. Within about a week, we received the email with the converted videos and we were blown away. The quality looked clearer and sharper than the originals and the sound was synced perfectly. At the end of the day, we could've just chanced it, saved a little money, and went with the other company. However, seeing as we saw so many disappointed customers, we knew we had to go with Got Memories. We are so grateful and excited to share these videos with the rest of her family. Thank you again, Phil! read more

About a decade ago, I bought a device to do convert our old videos, but it was such a pain in the a$$ that I dreaded doing it again, and instead just let the tapes collect dust in the closet. I happened to see the LegacyBox ad and was reminded of that miserable project and finally decided to bite the bullet and pay someone to do it. After reading many reviews, I decided against LegacyBox because so many people had their materials get lost in the mail. That meant I had to go local. I did my research and landed on two companies here in the Valley. One got back to me right away and one I'm still waiting on, a week later. Obviously I went with the one that responded... Got Memories. Phil had me make an appointment so that he could focus on my project without interruption. I told him I wasn't in a rush to get the 20 items converted (how hypocritical that would've been!) but he said he'd probably have it done within a week. (Seriously???) He gave me advice on how to convert a couple of audio cassettes myself since he doesn't offer that service and off I went. Two days later Phil contacted me to say the project was done. That certainly could not be true. We made another appointment and sure enough, he showed me random clips from various tapes and it was in fact my family! He shared a YouTube suggestion with me that I'm in the process of tackling now and each time a video is released, the kids and grandparents go nuts. I am still kicking myself for not going this route ten years ago. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Phil, for making this so painless and dare I say... almost enjoyable. =) read more

In short, Got Memories is downright amazing. The work they do is astounding! I work at the Fort McDowell Museum and Cultural Center and we discovered a treasure chest of historical 8mm film reels. We decided to go with Got Memories based off the reviews we read and we do NOT regret our decision! Most if not all the film reels were captured in beautiful 1080p. Their work is worth the price because I'll tell you something: depending on how your family films are stored, precious memories captured on celluloid may not last forever. So, get your 8mm rolls, your 16mm reels, your 35mm photo reels, VHS tapes, Beta tapes, or whatever you have to Got Memories!
