I'm so glad she did because I got to try Shiatsu with Lisa Kruse. OH MY! I'm a convert! It was WONDERFUL, and Lisa Kruse is extremely talented! It's like a combo of Swedish massage therapy, passive stretches like Thai massage, acupressure and more. At the end, I was completely relaxed yet deeply energized because she was able to move and release my blocked qi (energy). I will be back for sure, and recommend you try it, too!

I was out of town for work and experiencing some tension. Between the work stress and bad weather my body felt very tight. I googled a local massage therapist and called Healing Haven, where the receptionist was very accommodating. At 6pm she managed to squeeze me in for a 7pm appt with no hassle. I got there early to fill out forms and my masseuse was waiting for me with good energy. She took her time to ask me questions and get to know what I wanted out of this experience. I asked for a deep tissue... and I definitely got that plus more. I felt like I was beat up (in a good way). She got in every crevice of my neck, back, shoulders and arms and worked out every kink that was present. We started around 6:50 or so and she went over to 8:15. I was only scheduled for an hour massage but she worked on me until I was complete. (Who doesn't love extra massage time?) Would I go back? Most definitely!!! I could tell right away that she's a true professional, and I felt completely comfortable in her hands (pun intended). The massage room itself was soothing, with soft, pastel lighting, gentle music, and a pleasant aroma. Yan used hot stones on my back and checked in often to make sure the temperature was comfortable. I never felt rushed throughout my massage, only cared for and valued. Mei's Spa and Retreat is a peaceful escape, before, during, and after your appointment. I love that Mei's considers the little things, like soft, comfortable robes and an array of beauty products while in the changing area. I told the therapist I'd like it firmer and harder and not light touches and I think she must have thought I said the opposite- soft tickling type of massage and she didn't seem to want that style to change. Maybe she's knew but I have never gone up and down (being raised by her foot control) so many times in my life. Maybe she has back problems? My friend asked me afterwards why she was so loud (like I knew why? lol). Several times washing her hands and then threw the robe on my legs after the massage. Miss the exfoliating scrub at the end!
