I've had neck, shoulder, and lower back pains for the past several years, so I finally decided to see if there was anything wrong other than bad posture, wrong muscle usage, etc. I also needed a note for my travel insurance company to claim a couple of hundred dollars for canceling my Thailand trip. A friend referred Dr. Tran to me, however, only Dr. Lam had last minute availability. My appointment was at 2pm, and I arrived 15-minutes earlier. I didn't see her until 3pm... which is kind of ridiculous. Otherwise, she's extremely thorough and monotonous. She didn't crack one smile until she laughed at me saying that I try to travel at least once of month. I wouldn't say she's the friendliest... however, she did try her best to write me a note for my insurance stating that I had back pains and could not travel. She also wrote up orders for me to get a thyroid ultrasound and neck, shoulders, and lumbar x-rays. Everything came back negative, so yay. I probably won't be going back, especially if I find a better physician closer to me. Cash only (shady). read more

The doctor was terribly unprofessional. She couldn't even explain what was wrong with my health, when I clearly advised her I had so and so according to my symptoms (from searching the web). She looked so lost, and it's scary because I was depending on her to be my health care provider. I had to insist her to check/do more tests to find out what was wrong. And I was right. I feel like all they do is hand out antibiotics to "patients," and send them home. "PATIENTS" - they don't treat us like patients, but more like customers. They charge for the smallest things (like the lab result that I already paid for)....and everything was CASH ONLY. The wait is always 1hr + even if there aren't any patient waiting in the waiting area. The front desk staffs are super unfriendly. They always have nasty attitudes. Very unprofessional. I wouldn't give it even one star! My parents have been going to this place as their primary family doctor for more than 20 years. I no longer go there. I took my mom to her appointment at 2:00pm. We arrived a bit earlier around 1:45pm. Now it's 2:20pm and she was just finally called after 20 minutes. Before 2pm, the place was completely empty, only my mom and me, so on the list, she was the first to arrive. Then a several more patients showed up. I came in for a physical and saw Dr. Lam, as she happened to have availability within the next couple of days. Having read the previous reviews, one might leary but I was confident in this office and its doctors given my prior visits with Dr. Tran. Dr. Tran was booked out for at least two weeks, so why not give the other doctor a shot? I mean, she does work at Dr. Tran's office afterall. Dr. Lam was TOTALLY fine. The low-down of care received, staff and environment: - Very thorough, easy to understand questions from Dr. Lam. Yes, you should tell your doctor everything if you want to be cared for properly - Subsequent follow-up checks based on the information I shared, including referrals - Professional / friendly staff, all of whom are not just healthcare professionals, but can also man the administration desk - Clean office, inside the patient room and outside at the waiting room - Street parking was plentiful - Accepts whatever medical insurance coverage you have from what I can see (call and check if you want to be sure) Tips: - You want to make early day appointments, instead of mid-day/afternoon appointments, otherwise, they do have a lot of patients waiting - The guy with the mustache :), Viet, does an AMAZING job drawing blood. He managed to find the "juicy" vein even though I've been told that I have small veins, and I just felt a small pinch (yes, I'm very afraid of needles and pain) - They have multi-lingual staff, i.e. Vietnamese, Chinese, for the not-so-fluent English speakers Final thoughts, probably the best quality of treatment in Rosemead. What you want are doctors that care and can diagnose / recommend appropriately. I could not have asked for more. Very pleasant visit. Dr. Dan Tran office has the best front desk ever. I don't know what's wrong with you guys, but I never have problems with them. I have been here for 3 years. Well, they are not like 100% angel, but not so bad. If you are nice, they are nice too. ALWAYS MAKE APPOINTMENT AHEAD OF TIME. If you don't have appt, you will wait at least 2 hours. I hate this place! Every time I go, I always have to sit around for over an hour or two just to see the stupid doctor who only talks to me for a brief 5 minutes and sends me off somewhere else or to come back another day. If a shot is necessary, I have to get it approved and come back at a later date. What the heck then? Even if I do set an appointment beforehand, I always have to wait around and I just find the visit and the stupid $5 fee here completely pointless when I'm not getting any help or service. This review is regarding the staff, and not particularly the doctor himself. The front desk staff are EXTREMELY incompetent and RUDE! They made my mom wait for 3+ hours, only to tell her that her insurance was inactive. Why couldn't you people work a little bit faster? It takes you 3 hours to check insurance? Last I checked, his office may have 5 patients waiting at a single time (probably seeing around 30-40 patients per day), and that is nothing compared to the office that I work in where we see 100+ patients and we don't even have patients waiting that long. To top it off, I called to check my mom's eligibility myself, and guess what, SHE'S STILL ACTIVE. Absolutely ridiculous staff. Because of this, which has happened more than once, I will be switching primary care physicians for my parents. Sorry Dr. Tran, but you need to get better staff. read more

I took my mom to see Dr. Tran after her surgery. He is super nice and attentive. He makes my mom feel assured and took good care of her. The front desk people are nice too. I was nice and polite to them, and they are nice back. Dr. Tran is pretty popular so the office is always crowded. If you don't have an appointment, be prepared to wait at least 2 hrs. That's why I always make appointments 2-3 weeks in advance. When my mom has an appointment, she usually waits for 20-30 minutes max. I mean this is not a fast food restaurant so you should always plan ahead and be patient. In the end, it's the health care quality that really counts. read more

This place sucks ass..lack of service at the front desk. I had an appointment and it took them nearly 20 minutes to call my name..if I didn't go up to remind them, they probably wouldn't care. This used to be my family's doctor's office. Dr. Lam was a family friend and he treated us with kindness. Now that he's not around anymore, there's a new female doctor. I don't know her name but she's MEAN! She talks to you as if you don't have any medical knowledge (I'm not claiming to be a doctor). I questioned the prescription that she prescribed to me and she straight up said, "don't worry about it." $150.00 for 5 minutes of her time. I've called them 3 times to asked about my deductibles but got hung up 3 times. This place is very unprofessional. Zero star is possible! read more

There is a female dr. There don't even know what her name is but I have a cold and told her so she said is not a cold but it only allergy then she prescribed allergy medicine. I took the medicine a week later my cold got worst I went back pay another $40 she finally give cold medicine but those medicine I could have just gotten over the counter. So i never gotten better. And half the time I don't even think he know what he's talking about. I love going to Dr. Dan Tran's Clinic for all my healthcare needs including, getting my annual physical exams, immunization vaccinations, and TB tests. Located on the corner of Garvey and Strathmore, the exterior looks like a small pink house, but the interior is very elegant and modern. The waiting room is always so clean and comfortable every time I visit. I've only been here twice and the two times that I came was to complete my TB test for school. I've only met Dr. Tran once and it was a relatively brief encounter. It was two years ago and I needed Dr. Tran to fill out some forms to be submitted to my graduate school. He was very nice and personable, which made the visit to the doctor's office very pleasant. Dr. Dan Tran is great physician, but I absolutely adore his assistant/nurse Mr. Viet. From what I've heard from my friends and classmates who also comes here, Mr. Viet was actually a physician back in his home country, so I really appreciate his credibility and professionalism. For the past two years, Mr Viet has been providing me with quick and painless TB shots which is very important because I am just a total scaredy-cat when it comes to injections. What I love about this place is the fast service that they provide, especially in my case. When I was looking at my school health records, I noticed that my TB shot was expiring in a few days. I was panicking because normally the TB test would take 2 days to read and my busy work schedule would not allow time off to get it done. I would get off from work at 5pm and most doctor's office would already be closed by that time. Luckily when I called Dr. Dan Tran's office, I spoke to Mr. Viet who told me that he would take me in immediately without an appointment but I would have to come in before 2pm. So during my one hour lunch break, I rushed over to the clinic and sure enough, I was immediately served. I was literally in and out in less than 10 minutes and i still had over 40 minutes left from my break to grab lunch. I really appreciate that they knew about my time constraint, and was able to work around it while providing fast and quality services. This place seriously offers a very competitive price on the TB test compared to the other places and for someone who is a cash paying patient, that really means a lot to me. read more

Please people, when you post a review, please look at the names. Don't review Dr. Lam under Dr. tran's name just because they work in the same office.
