Our party unintentionally placed two orders, so I kindly informed the kitchen staff through the kitchen door that we only needed one. For my consideration, a young, bitter female employee with black hair and a septum ring rudely confronted me at the checkout, claiming I was out of line for trying to help. (This was the same little girl who cooked the pizza.) Her tone was disrespectful and emblematic of the reverse discrimination associated with the woke movement. I was infuriated by her attitude and being spoken to like that as a customer who was just trying to help them. However, the manager was understanding and handled the situation well. Credit to him, but that employee is a problem and needs to be fired. Until then, Pizza Planet is "cancelled". When management confirms that they have terminated this employee, I will remove this review and create a 5-Star review.

Their pizza was never the best but it was always passable or good. But there subs were where definitely where the money was! They had the best subs which was due in no small part to the fact they made their own bread. Their pizza sub was (still is) hands down the best I've ever had and I have had a lot since this sub has led me to order a pizza sub anytime I see one on a menu. With the previous owners the establishment was always very clean and neat and the staff was always very friendly and presentable. It was a great, locally owned family business that was not only run well but had a great product. Some years ago (2004 I think) the Kelsey family that owned this particular restaurant moved out of town. They were trying to sell the restaurant but there were whispers that it may close all together. Which anyone who lives in Wendell would tell you that wouldn't be any good. But someone bought the establishment from them (to be fair I do not know who) and the restaurant was going to stay in business. Well ever so slowly over the years the restaurant has slid a little bit in the down hill direction. They still make their own bread and as I've said multiple times the pizza sub is still the best I've ever had but overall the experience itself is a bit lacking. The pizzas aren't as good as they were, and the restaurant itself is not as clean or neat as it used to be. Also, the staff doesn't always seem to be as presentable as the staff was under the Kelsey's. They are always nice and helpful (it is a small town) but there doesn't seem to be any dress code and they don't seem to care much about their appearance. The new ownership just doesn't seem to care about the overall restaurant as much as the Kelseys seemed to. Maybe its because it isn't their name on the door or isn't their family franchise. The overall quality has just dipped ever so slightly. But who cares?! I will still eat a Papa Kelseys pizza sub everytime I'm in town. It's still good, reliable food and if you aren't familiar with the way it was then you won't even know what you're missing. I struggled writing this review and toyed with whether or not I should give them four stars. I actually think that I was leaning a bit more in the four star direction but I think that sentimentality played a key role in that. I may change my mind, I don't know. I'm just trying to be as objective as possible. Here's the truth, I would recommend Kelsey's to anyone. If you haven't eaten there, go and try their pizza sub.
