This is supposed to be a large 14" pepperoni pizza. Complete fail.
Brett B.

We ordered a 14" pizza on 02-03-24 and noticed it was quite a bit smaller than the large box. Ordered again today on 02-04-24, and was the exact same problem. Less than "12. I spoke with the owner, Jennifer, who gave the excuse they have a new pizza maker over the last couple of weeks. Apparently the supervisor needs retraining as well, since he is the one who baked it, cut it, and presented it to us. Jennifer promised a refund for this latest order, yet we never received a credit back to our card. If they did this to us, they will do it to you as well. Ended up filing a consumer protection complaint with the State Of Idaho against this business for fraudulent business practices. A picture is worth 1000 words, and that really tells the story. Better bring your tape measure when you eat here, and if they promise you a refund to your card, do not believe a word they say. Very untrustworthy.

14" pie. I asked for EZ pepperoni on one side. Clean pie but bland

Papa Kelsey's Pizza & Subs - Hawaiian Pizza

Papa Kelsey's Pizza & Subs

Still the best pizza sub I've ever had! But it has slid a little down hill since a change in…read moreownership. This establishment used to be owned by the Kelsey family that lived in the town of Wendell. At that time I probably would have given this restaurant four or five stars. Their pizza was never the best but it was always passable or good. But there subs were where definitely where the money was! They had the best subs which was due in no small part to the fact they made their own bread. Their pizza sub was (still is) hands down the best I've ever had and I have had a lot since this sub has led me to order a pizza sub anytime I see one on a menu. With the previous owners the establishment was always very clean and neat and the staff was always very friendly and presentable. It was a great, locally owned family business that was not only run well but had a great product. Some years ago (2004 I think) the Kelsey family that owned this particular restaurant moved out of town. They were trying to sell the restaurant but there were whispers that it may close all together. Which anyone who lives in Wendell would tell you that wouldn't be any good. But someone bought the establishment from them (to be fair I do not know who) and the restaurant was going to stay in business. Well ever so slowly over the years the restaurant has slid a little bit in the down hill direction. They still make their own bread and as I've said multiple times the pizza sub is still the best I've ever had but overall the experience itself is a bit lacking. The pizzas aren't as good as they were, and the restaurant itself is not as clean or neat as it used to be. Also, the staff doesn't always seem to be as presentable as the staff was under the Kelsey's. They are always nice and helpful (it is a small town) but there doesn't seem to be any dress code and they don't seem to care much about their appearance. The new ownership just doesn't seem to care about the overall restaurant as much as the Kelseys seemed to. Maybe its because it isn't their name on the door or isn't their family franchise. The overall quality has just dipped ever so slightly. But who cares?! I will still eat a Papa Kelseys pizza sub everytime I'm in town. It's still good, reliable food and if you aren't familiar with the way it was then you won't even know what you're missing. I struggled writing this review and toyed with whether or not I should give them four stars. I actually think that I was leaning a bit more in the four star direction but I think that sentimentality played a key role in that. I may change my mind, I don't know. I'm just trying to be as objective as possible. Here's the truth, I would recommend Kelsey's to anyone. If you haven't eaten there, go and try their pizza sub. Side note - its ridiculous (and always has been) that they aren't open on Mondays.

Came for dinner after a day at the hot springs. We ordered a large Hawaiian pizza and asked if we…read morecould substitute pepperoni for the Canadian bacon. We were charged for an additional topping (pepperoni) and then they eliminated the Canadian bacon for free. I wish they would have told me about the extra charge because I may have not made it. The large pizzas were $2 off but we didn't get that discount...so remember to ask before paying. The pizza was just Ok. Everything is out of a can or box...nothing original. Cheap ingredients made for just a barely Ok pizza. The salad was head lettuce with 2 chopped pepperonis and a sprinkle of olives and cheese. Again, not worth the price. The gal ringing us up didn't know how to add a combo meal or how to give up the advertised discount. She never looked at us, made friendly eye contact, nor greeted us warmly....she looked like a deer in the headlights. I understand just starting out, but much more training is needed. Overall we had a very poor experience, and poor food for $26. We will never be back.

Service is friendly, a majority of the patrons were known on a first name basis, and the place is clean. The only slight issue is the soda machine is a bit loud for the space, but it wasn't anything terrible. Nothing I'd actually make a complaint about. I'm pretty picky about BBQ, and Ben's is great! The meats were done well, not dry or old. The brisket was the perfect level of fall apart tender and pairs really well with the "sweet and spicy" sauce. The ribs. Man. The ribs. We'll be getting a full order next time, we've already decided. They are amazing with the "hot" sauce. (Sorry, forgot what they named it). The bread slices are good sized and very flavorful. The brussels sprouts are seasoned well, and actually like I make them at home. They were cooked perfectly, not too crisp and bitter, notnto soft and soggy. They were just right with a perfect level of seasoning and the bacon tossed in really made it pop. In the end, we couldn't decide on dessert, but I knew we had to try it. So, I told Ben to pick. He recommended the peanut butter pie and I'm so glad he did. Full of flavor, rich and creamy. Totally hit the after BBQ spot. We'll definitely be back... with friends.

On 8/14/20, KM and I visited Ben Cenarussa's restaurant in Hagerman. There is actually another…read morerestaurant in Hagerman that I've been wanting to try for some time because they have alligator on the menu, but we chose to Ben's place because we both love barbecue and Ben is a new member of Southern Idaho Foodies. It was a good decision. Our experience far exceeded our expectations. Ben Cenarrusa is the nephew of Pete Cennarusa, one of Idaho's most beloved and distinguished citizens. He served continuously for over half a century in elective office, first as a member of the Idaho Legislature and then as Secretary of State. Ben shared that many members of his family have been involved in the restaurant business over the years. As a result, cooking is second nature to him. His mother makes all of the bread, pastries and desserts for his restaurant. Ben is a single dad, who will be the first to tell you that this restaurant belongs to his sons, Zane and Zander, which is the reason for the unique spelling of the restaurants name with the double Z's. KM and I ordered The Bull Sampler ($16), which is a full pound of meat that includes smoked sausage, pulled pork, brisket and tri-tip. It comes with a choice of two sides and Basque bread. For the sausage, we chose the smoked jalapeño cheddar. For our sides, we chose the coleslaw and mac & cheese. We also purchased additional sides of potato salad, baked beans and bacon fried cabbage. For the extra sides, all were regular ($3) except for the potato salad which was large ($5.50). The platter comes with one choice of barbecue sauce but we wanted to try them all, so we paid $.50 each for the four additional flavors. We loved all of the meats. KM loves brisket. It isn't my favorite but I thought Ben's was excellent. I loved the tri-tip and pulled pork. The Smoked Jalapeño Cheddar sausage was the best version I have ever had, and one of my favorite spicy sausages ever. I love that Ben didn't dial down the heat and that when you cut into the sausage, you can actually see generous green pieces of jalapeño and melting cheddar. We enjoyed all five of the sauces: Sweet & Spicy, Smokey, Tangy, Honey Bourbon and Bullspit ( extra spicy.) The coleslaw was a simple version but outstanding in its freshness and great flavor. The potato salad contains noticeable amounts of onion and dill, but they were worked well with the other ingredients. Next time, I would like to try the french fries which Ben puts a homemade seasoning/rub on. The mac & cheese was a very simple, child-friendly version. The baked beans were excellent. I liked that they were not overly sweet. The bacon fried cabbage was phenomenal! Imagine the best collard greens you ever ate, full of chunks of smoked bacon. The Garlic Basque bread that accompanied the meal was delicious. So much so, that we both bought a loaf. It makes great garlic bread and French toast. Ben graciously offered us a sample of his smoked Gouda mac & cheese, which he serves on Friday and Saturday nights with his smoked prime rib. He kindly gave us a sample of his smoked prime rib too. Both were outstanding! KM and I also bought one of each of the three flavors of turnovers to share: Apple, Cherry and Caramel Apple. The latter had just come fresh out of the oven. Each was excellent! In addition to the items listed on the menu, Ben offers an appetizer of smoked fried wings for 1$ each. He also has a Thursday night special of Smoked Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy, coleslaw and a dinner roll for $13.50. The restaurant is also open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. On Saturday mornings, it's just Ben and his younger son Zander. Menu items include chicken fried steak, shoulder bacon, smoked applewood bacon smoked sausage, smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage and Basque Chorizo, all of which come with eggs, hashbrowns and toast. There are also Biscuits and Gravy and French Toast. Like and follow Bullzz-Eye BBQ on FB to keep updated on specials such as Ben's Birria tacos. He uses the same recipe for his Birria as the famous Teddy's Red Tacos in California. Ben's food is so good that it is worth traveling for. For me, a perfect day would be getting to Hagerman early enough for breakfast at Bullzz-Eye BBQ, exploring the surrounding area including Twin Falls and heading back to Hagerman to have dinner at Bullzz-Eye BBQ, before returning to Boise. Ben recently bought a state of the art food truck and is considering shutting down his brick and mortar restaurant in the next 6 to 8 months and driving to the Boise/Nampa area to offer his menu, which will allow him to spend more time with his boys.

Once you tackle…read moreNV (and say hello to Jackpot NV), you're in ID and not long after is Rogerson ID, home of a super cute saloon style diner with great food called Buster's. While they're known for their finger steaks (google it), we elected to order a few other items and while my wife got a super good sandwich, I got a chili burger and it was exactly what I hoped for. The chili was great, it was a large burger patty and all in all, with the additional "Sidewinder" fries, was a great filling meal after driving and driving and driving and well, driving. For those that look at the photo and wonder just how bad for me that delicious chili burger was, may I just note in my defense that Buster's have a BLT with a full pound of bacon (!!) on the menu. While it was absolutely calling my name, I'd like to think that getting the chili burger was my twisted mind rationalizing that it was healthy...(by comparison at least). Great food, warm and friendly service--saved to bookmarks!
