The owner is amazing. Her staff is amazing. That is one good burger and friendly service. Make sure you stop there. I always plan my trip to death Valley so that I will arrive at lunchtime.

Great people. Great food. Authentic hospitality!!

Thank you so much Danielle and crew for devoting so much hard work to preserve this historical site. The amazing town of Trona has been through so much but the people still here live up to the saying "Trona Strong"! The long timers bleed Trona Blue for sure. We stoped by the Trails hamburger spot and were greeted by the owner who had an amazing spirit and energy. Born and raised in Trona, Danielle made us feel like we were always next door neighbors. We ordered the cheese burgers with everything, fried pickles (large please), hot fudge shake as well as peanut butter shake. Taste was unbelievable! Burgers cooked perfect. Fried pickles were incredible and could become very addictive. Words fail to describe the shake experience which was out of this world. The peanut butter is a must. The food was great and more importantly the feeling is one you might expect coming home from a long journey...peaceful, refreshed, renewed. Everyone should rally to support TRAILS. History is so important and these type of places need our attention to keep history alive. Thank you TRAILS. We will be back.

    Best Veggie Burger

We stopped by Trail Drive In on our way to Death Valley. The cutest little food stand great tasting food, friendly service and exceptionally clean restrooms. The place is so darn cute, retro history, there is historic history behind the place, it takes you back to memory land to simpler times and great tasting food. I ordered the veggie burger with a large order of fries . First of all it was the best tasting veggie burger I have tasted, plentitud, filling and not dry. For those that are more meat eaters they had other good sections, chicken burgers, cheese burgers, Rubens, ext... great menu selection and ice cream floats . I highly recommend this place and will stop again.

Long live large wooden cone signs!

I'm a sucker for large wooden roadside ice cream signs. So when we had survived 20 miles of low-AC operation (because this is Death Valley folks) driving out of the park, managed not to burn our brakes, and that welcoming soft-serve icon came into view, we stopped. Everybody had soft-serve, mostly choc-vanilla swirl, and it was good stuff. The cones and servings were decently priced as well. The ice cream was perfect consistency and there are four size choices plus shakes and sundaes on the menu if that's your deal. Several other people entered and ordered, liking their regular food (meaning not ice cream) while we were there. But for us, just the cream thanks. We will return if we are ever escaping Death again.

Grilled Reuben Sandwich and Large Pineapple Shake

Stopped in because it was so darn cute!!! Friendly young lady took my order. Grilled Ruben sandwich with a large pineapple milkshake...so good.... it was steaming hot and the meat was so tender..perfect. Never thought I could be so satisfied. View was perfect from booth. It's my new getaway...I was never so happy to not have cell service to my phone.. I got to eat, think and enjoy that view!!!

Provender: I was on my way to Death Valley when I dropped by. This is a fantastic joint to grab a burger. The staff were all friendly and the food delicious. Prices: a burger and drink will run you just under $6. Parking: there is a dedicated lot adjacent to the building. There are a lot of spaces, so parking shouldn't be an issue. People: fun for all ages. Perks: I think this is a great place to grab a bite to eat if you're on your way to Death Valley. It's about the midway point from LA , and the food is well made. They also serve ice cream and burritos, so there's a wide variety of things to eat.

If you pass by, go here!! There is a hospitality and kindness that can exist in a place like this, that can add so much to a road-trip... it doesn't look like much from the outside. It's easy to drive right by.... But inside you'll find classic burgers that harken back to the days of drive-ins. This is not your boutique burger place. Trails is the kind of burger that they served in in the era that made America synonymous with cheese burgers: simple and tasty. The milkshakes are awesome! So many food flavors. I had peanut butter. Fries are tasty too. Dine-in, and your bound to be there as a local or two comes in, and you'll gain an appreciation for a how a place like this supports a community; and vice-versa. This is a cool little place.

I'll be honest, I was a little confused at first. I saw the name "VEN A" and expected something…read moremore Mexican or Spanish, then I looked at the menu and wasn't really sure what to expect. It felt a bit all over the place at first. But the reviews were so strong compared to everything nearby that we decided to try it on our way to Mammoth. When we got there it was pretty quiet, and the owner sat us and took our order himself. He was really friendly and took the time to walk us through the menu and give recommendations. We ended up talking with him quite a bit, and once he explained his background and how his food is influenced by different cultures, the menu started to make a lot more sense. You can tell he really cares about what he's making, and he's very genuine and easy to talk to. We ordered the jerk chicken tacos, the creole pasta, and the soul bird sandwich. I had asked about modifying the sandwich and he mentioned he doesn't really do modifications, which I actually respected. It felt like he really stands behind how each dish is meant to be eaten. The food ended up being really good. The pasta surprised me the most. It looked simple at first, but it was creamy, slightly peppery, and really flavorful without feeling heavy. The beef had a nice char that added a lot. The jerk chicken tacos were also really good, super juicy and flavorful, and everything worked well together. The habanero sauce wasn't very spicy, more on the sweeter side, but it complemented the dish well. There was a small mix-up with my sandwich at first, but he caught it right away, fixed it, and even let us keep the first one. Both versions were good, but the one with pickles had a better balance. The tang really pulled everything together. We ended up finishing everything, which we weren't planning on. Overall, it was just a really good experience. Good food, and a really nice conversation with the owner that made the whole visit feel more personal. We actually wanted to stop by again on our way back, but they were closed. I wish we lived closer because we'd definitely come back. It's a spot that deserves more attention.
