I've bought quite a few appliances at this Trail. I have had reasonably good experiences and a couple of bad ones. The latest was the worst. I'm not going back. You get the impression that they are expensive, but they will take care of everything. The fact is, they are expensive and they will take care of very little. I bought a washer and dryer. The sales person was rude, especially when I called to request it be vented out the side instead of the back. She sold me the "Premium Laundry Hookup" (which is their marketing term for installation). It cost $250. When the guys came, they bashed the machine into my door frame (leaving a dent), put their dirty hands all over everything (leaving dark brown hand prints on my white walls,) hooked it up with a hose that was too short to position the machine where it should be (they had no other hose with them), and they used an old scrap of vent, which upon inspection after they left actually had a hole in it. They were really nice guys, but in the end it wasn't installed correctly. Oh, and I later looked in the owners manual and it said to level the machines. They didn't even have a level. When I emailed my sales lady to ask if there were longer hoses available, I half expected her inquire if the installation was satisfactory; I mean, why else would I be emailing her about different laundry hoses after my "premium laundry hookup". She didn't ask. She just replied that I could buy them from the parts department. I had also asked her what size hose came with my machine so I could gauge how long to buy the replacement ones. She answered that question incorrectly. I would NEVER pay to have Trail install an appliance again. read more

Hello Trail Aplliance/ Samsung Consumers, I write to you with a cautionary tale, a tale of manipulation and neglect. We recently built a house in Calgary Alberta(January 2015). Our builder, formally know as Sabal, used Trail Appliances on the South end of the city for appliances. We wanted to have nice kitchen where our family could share many moments together. We chose Samsung all around! looks nice, sales person seemed confident in our selections and they were not the base models so we felt pretty good about it. First couple of loads in the dishwasher and things just aren't coming out clean. Soap scum is left on everything, coffee is still in the cups, food on the plates... just not working like it should. We made the Trail Appliances Servicemen aware of our concerns when he came to check out our dented fridge door. He told us to try a different detergent and explained why. We felt it made sense. so we did. Time goes by. Trail sends the same guy with the new fridge door, he brings help because they can be "tricky". Again I raise the same concern. The dishwasher just doesn't work. both service guys look at my detergent, tell me its no good and I should replace it. So I did... again. Time goes on. STILL NOT CLEANING! Now I have a Leak in the door. Same guy comes to look at the leak. I raise the cleaning issue again. He says its the soap. I am starting to run out of soaps at this point. This time he orders a new seal for the door. time passes. He gets the new seal and brings it to put in. Guess what? Yeah thats right. Still not cleaning! Bring it up again, its the soap, replace the soap blah blah blah! Also had to call about the leaking fridge, which got fixed and I asked that guy about the dishwasher and he didn't know what to do. Now here we sit with a 9 month old and a dishwasher that won't clean the dishes. We hand wash our dishes instead of using this thing that sits under the counter. Today my wife had enough and contacted Trail Appliances. She gets the run around and then told that only two work orders were ever made and no notes about the dish washer not cleaning. Now that we are off warranty " There is nothing they can do for us". So they direct her to Samsung. Samsung put my wife on hold with 3 different people in different departments. Eventually they tell us they have a service place they could book for us, but at our expense! It was on warranty when the problem started but they can't do anything about it. Instead they tell us to contact Trail Appliances to get the work orders and send them to their service people to review and see how they can help us. But as per the Trail Serviceman, Samsung requires a certain "minimum" amount of work orders before they will react. Anyways, Here is what I am asking you, the people of social media to do. SHARE THIS, Help bring this to their attention and others attention and Be cautious when looking at Samsungs products and make sure you read the reviews on Trail Appliances here in Calgary(They are horrible!). I want Trail Appliances or Samsung to own up to their failure with our dishwasher And I want them give us back the time they have wasted of hours that we could have spent with our sweet baby boy. Oh wait, they can only do one of those things because I can't get those hours back with my son. NO NO Instead I will continue to work all day, come home and do the dishes by hand and spend an hour with him before his bed time. My wife will just "Deal" with motherhood and the dishes along with everything else in her busy life schedule because of their negligence. Two new defective Samsung washers delivered. First one leaked and water ran through downstairs ceiling. Quick delivery for the second which burst a hose and did the same. Not much help from Trail - referred me to Samsung. Getting both units replaced now seems to be a problem - they're very busy they claim. Really lousy customer service as far as I'm concerned. Service was exceptional at every level. Our range was broken and another service provider wrote off the stove after three visits. We called Trail to purchase a new range. Something that was not In our budget at this time. Trail offered to see if they could fix the range. Trail picked up our range, took it apart and fixed it entirely, and we had it promptly delivered back and hooked up. Everyone at Trail was so pleasant and professional, assets to the company. Trail could have sold us a new range for thousands, instead they supported us and fixed our range professionally and at a reasonable cost. It is a way of doIng business that is commendable. read more

This spring (2013), we purchased $7000 of ovens and an induction stove top from Trail Appliances South. The stove top actually lasted until Thanksgiving morning when it died without warning. Our helpful and loyal salesperson (Sebastien Beatty?) first complained that he was 10 minutes past his work day when he finally returned our call - took over an hour to reply. He then started off by saying that we shouldn't even think that our defective appliance would be replaced -- until it had failed at least 3times with the exact same defect. He let us know that repairs to a Kitchen Aid would be 3 months and that we should buy a hot plate from Canadian Tire to replace our stove top. extremely helpful. Fast forward to Christmas morning and once again the stove top died again. Seems to wait until we have a crowd coming over. We were advised to buy an extended warranty as these appliances are known to have defects -- problem is that they charged us twice for the warranty and we had to fight to get a refund. I always thought that Kitchen Aid was reputable and top of the line before this experience. Tomorrow we expect to hear the same lines but will not waste our time with Beatty. My advice is to stay away from Kitchen Aid induction stove tops, Beatty and Trail Appliances. They are defective! read more

Worst customer service experience ever, Trail have a lot to learn on dealing with customers!!! Considering we have replaced all our appliances plus 2 additional fridges, having spent a fortune, we cannot attest to the experience being pleasant and professional, clearly the CUSTOMER IS NOT NUMBER 1. Business must be booming for Trail, once the deal is done and sales commissions are earned, the experience becomes unpleasant. Trail appear to have no sense of concern of the safety risk of a faulty appliance from day 1, including potential fire hazard, not to mention the inconvenience of not being able to use an essential appliance!!! There is NO option to refund nor replace the appliance until a service tech comes to investigate which will take at least 6 days - What part of I don't want a machine which does NOT work from the beginning is so hard to understand???? At this stage I am disappointed and will NEVER recommend Trail appliances unless by some miracle their customer service is transformed read more

If I could choose ZERO stars I would!!! I am absolutely disgusted with the customer service, and "repair" service I received. After spending thousands of dollars on appliances for my new home my family deserves better treatment then this. My dishwasher has not worked since we moved into our home, this had been brought to the attention of a trail appliances service person on 5+ occasions, however he only made 2 official work orders and apparently that is not enough to do anything about a defective product. Funny, since the issue has been tossed aside with ,"use a different detergent" and never been recorded by them (the multiple times this issue has been brought to their attention) "enough" our warranty is over... Essentially a defective product was ignored long enough for warranty to end. We have been screwed over by them, were left out to dry, I was told by the service department I would have to pay to have someone come and assess my dishwasher... Which has been done multiple times as it is... Apparently manipulating customers to pay to use your service department or having to pay out of pocket for an appliance that actually works when the one they bought never worked in the first place is ok for business... I can tell you I won't be spending a penny at trail appliances ever again, as a customer I don't appreciate being sold a defective product and being manipulated into spending more money on it- at that point what's the point of warranty. read more

I don't normally write reviews and we prefer to work through issues with retailers, however Trail is beyond hope. Trail equipped our entire kitchen with an "up-graded" Jenn-Air appliance package five years ago. To date, we have repaired the refrigerator three times and the dishwasher twice. I called Trail today about yet another repair to the dishwasher and was greeted by a grumpy officious individual who quickly gave me another number to call (and unable apparently just to forward my call to service). I called the new number and was treated by an equally grumpy reception who said the earliest they could get to us was in two weeks. We called Jenn-air directly and they could have someone here in 3days - $90 for the first 15 minutes. Our lawyers are less expensive. Trail has earned its low star rating and Whirlpool (Jenn-Air, Maytag, Kitchenaid, etc.) is just a rip-off. read more

I can't say enough about the Trail Appliance south east store. It has been my go to place throughout the years and I've never been disappointed. I have never had the need for price shop comparison as they will work out the absolute best deal for you and if you ever did happen to see something listed elsewhere at a lower price(which I highly doubt) they will match it and better it. The staff is always so helpful and professional and the store itself is well laid out and comfortable to shop in. I just purchased a new Maytag washer/dryer, Kitchenaide range and Venta Hood fan at an amazing deal thanks to Barret Janik who was just fantastic. He took care of every step of the way answering all questions that I had, offering product comparisons, specs and functional details on all the appliances I purchased. I would highly recommend Trail Appliance SE store to everyone and Barret Janik is the man to see highly professional, friendly and caring, just an amazing guy. I would recommend finding a smaller more efficient dealer, honestly if you purchase something from here your chances of good service is next til nil! I have experienced nothing but trouble. The saddest part is they lie through there teeth to ensure they don't get blamed. The troubles I've experienced not only how many times we had to keep calling them to come and properly service a front load washer, which began to stink after a few uses. Then there was the installation of another item where the service people lied when they said they called numerous times, fortunately there is cell phones which record each and every call. :D The biggest problem is the lack of communication not only would they not return any of my calls after booking but then they delivered the item to the wrong address. The item was damaged. When inquiring about the lies they never apologized but continued blaming me for the mistakes they made. It's a real nightmare and I hope that despite the others on here that may say how good they handled things. We are two generations of family who have been dealing with them and using there goods and services for our own customers. It is truly a shame to accept that Trail is gone to the dogs, in the 70's there couldn't have been a better and more trusted name. Not anymore :( read more

Just found out my 2.5 year old Samsung dryer needs a new power board. TRail tech had 'never seen this". Dryer is one of two in my home and sees minimal use. Received $119.00 service bill with promise of another $250.00 plus to follow. Samsung is poor product and trail doesn't stand behind what they sell. WE purchased a new fridge from trail and the salesman without asking put the extended service on the cost. We questioned him and he said they always recommend so, normally we do not get them but thought okay its an expensive fridge lets get it. First. their extended warranty is not with Trail but a third party. The brochure we received states Trail but look inside. on the paper enclosed it in very small letters states W3 Solutions. If I had know that upfront from the salesperson I would never of purchased the extended warranty. Every time you go with a third party you have problems.I WENT TO THE STORE TO ADIVSE WE WERE NOT TOLD ABOUT THE THIRD PARTY AND THEY COULD CARE LESS READ THE PAPERS. We called today as our fridge is leaking and the told us that we must defrost the fridge for 24 hours and see if the problem goes away. These fridges are not suppose to have to be defrosted this is 2016!!!!!!! I am so disappointed in Trail Appliances!!! We built a custom home almost 2 years ago. Our appliance package was very generous. We decided to buy all 8 of our brand new appliances from Trail( which was recommended by our builder). I ordered them 8 months in advance prior to us taking possession. Our first issue was, our washer and dryer weren't even here at possession (they were on the boat, was what I was told.)They did lend us a washer and dryer after I complained. The washer and dryer showed up weeks later. Our next issue was our stainless steel fridge door had to be replaced. On top of that we have a plastic piece on the side that also broke off, we were told "It's the way we open the door". We decided not to go with the costly appliance warranty. We were told you should get about a good 7 years out of your package. I wish we were pushed more to get the warranty, knowing what we have gone through. It was very much "it's up to you if you want it". So within one and a half years of us living in a beautiful custom home, we have had problems with all eight Appliances! I have called Numerous times, spoken to many people. I get the same old story" sorry you never bought the warranty appliance package" and we only expect appliance's to last 5-7 years anyways. Once again we spent a big amount of money on what we thought were decent name brands. 1. After our fridge..... 2. There was the dishwasher the pump needed to be replaced (all on our dime, just after a year). 3. At the same time a element had to be replaced on our cooktop. 4. Our microwave will just stop in the middle of heating or just won't start at all until you hit a bunch of buttons. 5. We have 2 wall ovens which sounds like a jet engine when we use them. The jet engine continues for a good 30 mins after the stove is off. Very annoying sound! 6. Trail Appliances installed our dryer wrong, so one day it just started making the loudest sound and vibration. It was never vented properly. So basically we were told for a year we had been cooking the inside of the dryer when it was being used. This was the only time they ever took responsibility. It was only because the repair man saw how frustrated I was with everything. 7. Onto our washer which we have been told the lid could blow off if left on a high spin. So right now I have to wash everything on low. And I'm not supposed to wash bedding or big loads of towels. So I end up washing small loads. It's so convenient, I'm wasting energy, water, my valuable time and I have to close my doors in case it does blow off, while I do laundry. Our laundry room is also our puppies room, so she must stay out during the washer running. The washer has been recalled. Another problem with this washer is you press buttons 10 times just to add an extra feature like a soak or low spin. The repair man hold for 3 seconds that never worked. Trail did call me to tell me about the recall and they would try and advise us what to do. Guess what out of sight out of mind. I have left messages. Again spoken to many people they tell me to take it up with the manufacturer. Sorry Appliances just aren't made the same. So in my experience Trail Appliance sells junk. According to them so does everyone else! It's all made overseas and we have no control. Yeah right!!!! Can't you make demands as a business to get better quality Appliances? Bottom line is money! Make it as cheep and crapy as we can so the retailers and manufacturers can make the profits. We are supposed to be environmentally aware nowadays but these manufacturers and retailers are creating a throw away society! At this point I'm still waiting to here what to do with my washer??? Do I accept an at home repair kit and an extended one year warranty? Or do take money that the manufacturer will give us based on how long we have owned it. If I take the second option. I have to fork out the difference in what it would cost to get a new one, dispose of the old one, prove I got rid of the old one and find something to match my dryer. Once again all on my time. I'm not even willing to give Trail Appliances any stars, it is not deserved. I have tried over and over to reach out and let them know my situation. Maybe this review will catch someone's attention. Bottom line is Trail claims to be a family run business who has been around for years with great service. This is the complete opposite to what we have went through. If you decide to buy something from them, do your homework! Purchase the warranty package or better yet go somewhere else who will stand behind the crap they sell. Lower than below average customer service after purchase. We purchased all of our appliances from Trail this year. Our stove stopped working after a few months and so did Trail. If you'd like to get passed to every single department and explain your issue to every single person who supposedly works at this location should you encounter an issue then this is the place for you! If you want an actual resolution, steer clear. These employees pass the buck like no other and they can't make a move without a service tech coming out to stare at your appliance even though it's had the same problem repeatedly although the manufacturer states that they do not need to make a service call for a repeated problem. I have nothing nice to say about this place. I was really happy when I found the over the range microwave that I was looking for. But that is where the good feelings ended. I ordered the microwave on February 18, 2014. The sales guy told me that it will only take 2 weeks to come in. So 2 weeks went by...and I heard nothing. So another week went by and I decided to call. Customer service finally after a run around that it won't be in until March 21,2014!! Over a month over the time that was told to me! So I wait until the 21st, no phone call. So I call on the 23rd, no one know where and when this unit is coming in. Then I call again on the 25th and I am told that they don't have anyway of knowing when this unit will be coming? Wtf are you kidding me?? I was so frustrated that I wanted to pull my money and the order from the store. Then the rep tells me that it's going to take 5-7 business days for me to get a cheque in the mail of my refund! A cheque I paid cash for the unit the day I placed an order, are you serious? So then I said I needed time to think about it because I need the unit and I wasn't sure that I could get it from somewhere else. So I called back again on the 27th and another rep told me that they found one in Red. Deer and will have it shipped to me by Friday of that week. So it finally came and I picked it up. Asked them because of the screw around that I would be able to get a discount for waiting for this microwave?!? So the rep tells me that he would email and ask the sales rep that helped me originally. Well still no call! Surprise surprise!! At the end of the day I am more upset and dissatisfied with the general lack of customer service then I am with how long it took. They were so quick to take my CASH that I paid the day of the sale, then they were to call me (as I am the customer) to let me know that there was a delay in receiving the microwave. Every time I got information it was because I called and not because the sales person contacted me! I was doing a complete renovation on our new house, so they lost out on a new fridge, stove, dishwasher and any other future sales. I will never shop at Trail Appliances ever again. read more

Dec 2015. Purchased 15 Lg washer dryer combos, 20 fridges,20 dishwashers, 20 stoves and 20 micro waves all stainless. Didnt matter, lousy expensive service. Just called for the Lg washer/dryer charged 120.00 and then said we cant get the parts but pay. Called Lg and they gave a couplr numbers and no problem getting control board part. Product quality and customer service here are terrible! I was sold a KitchenAid Range. The quality is very poor even though it cost $1900. The salesperson and managers would not return phone calls and refused to refund the cost of this appliance. Even though the oven radiates so much heat when it is on that it's unbearable to cook on the stove top at the same time. The elements are also terrible because they go on and off constantly. This is clearly a defective, poorly insulated range. However, Trail Appliances says they only give 80% of purchase price back if it is returned. This place really sucks!! read more

We've bought quite a few things from Trail, including a 48" fridge, dishwasher, Kinetico system, totalling at least $15,000. The after sales service here is appalling. I will never shop here again. I needed a dryer immediately and called all the appliance stores in the city. That was lie no. 1. A sales assistant on the phone said Trail could deliver the next day. When I got to the store, another sales assistant, who was new, said their trucks were full, and had been full for days, and that I would have to wait an extra day.. Waiting an extra day was an inconvenience, but we were in a rush to have a dryer, and Trail was still able to offer the earliest delivery. We picked out a dryer in the liquidation section, had it delivered with the promise INDICATED ON THE INVOICE that it was to be installed. When we got the dryer on the promised day (but not the time), the delivery boys said that they were not installing it. I asked them how would I know if it actually worked, since I'd just signed something to the effect that I was satisfied with the appliance, and they said, it would work (without intalling it). The hose, which cost me $25 at Home Depot, was not included either. When we called to file a complaint, the girl at Installations promised someone would call back and offer a reimbursement for our costs. Apparently the new salesperson missed a code. Nevertheless, the invoice did indicate that installation was included. An acquaintance had just died suddenly and I was not in the mood to install a dryer when it had been Trail's job. Someone from Trail did call with an apology but no reimbursement for the hose. If the invoice says install and Trail does not install, then isn't that a breach of contract? Why not just provide the service, which takes 5 mins and was indicated on the bill, instead of treating customers so badly that they feel inclined to write a bad review? There is no higher authority to send a compaint to in Calgary--the Better Business Bureau is ineffective. So congratulations, Trail, for taking my money and screwing me. If you purchase from Trail Appliances, I truly hope you never need their service department. When our brand new $6000+ wall oven starting shutting off and showing an error code, we had the unfortunate need to call their "service" dept. The tech looked at it and said we needed a new board. We were told twice over three months that it was on order. Checking on it was impossible as their "service" dept just passed us around and did not return calls. We had to go through our builder to get someone to call us back. I imagine some little guy without a builder would never get service. They said the part was never ordered and they had to come look at our oven again. Each time they come we're expected to keep our entire day free for them. They won't tell you when they're coming until as late as 9:30AM the day of the appointment. Their tech came and told us he couldn't do anything, since the problem was "only intermittent" and noted how the oven "came back on soon after" anyway. He told us we were welcome to purchase their $400 extended warranty, if we were worried about the board. Oh great, then they could waste our time without fixing anything until 2015, and for only $400! I attempted to speak with their "service" manager, but he refused to even call me back. It's obvious the entire service department gets their attitude towards customers from this manager. Our builder, Baywest Homes, had to get involved again to get the board replaced. The new board was even worse. Sometimes when we press a button, the oven beeps in acknowledgment, but does nothing. We did not have this problem with the first board. The tech told us with a smirk, that we should press the buttons very slowly and carefully. To me, if a bottom beeps and does not perform its function, the unit is not working properly. They refused to fix it. These techs smirked the whole time and left our inside entry covered in mud. Again, this attitude is clearly passed to everyone in their service department from Trail management. We are thankful that at least we purchased our fridge from Sears (not all builders will let you get your own appliances, but Baywest did). When we had issues with the fridge, Sears replaced the entire thing. Unlike Trail, they stand behind their products. read more

After 20 minutes of not being helped at Trail Appliances today, I walked out. My husband and I had been to Trail Appliances yesterday to look at fridges. We decided which one to buy but wanted to go home and double-check our kitchen measurements before buying. I returned alone today, to buy the fridge. I asked the lady at the Customer Reception Desk for the Sales Associate we had dealt with yesterday; as he had been helpful and answered our questions yesterday, I felt it was only fair to give him the commission for today's fridge purchase. The lady at the Customer Reception Desk did her best to locate him: she paged him, went looking for him, asked others, etc. He was nowhere to be found so after five minutes I told her I would be in the fridge section and she could send him there when she located him. Another five minutes passed and no one showed up to assist me. I returned to the Customer Reception Desk to ask for another Sales Associate. The lady told me to return to the fridge section and someone there could help me. Meanwhile, a couple (man and woman) had arrived in the fridge section and were instantly helped by a Sales Associate. I had moved out of the fridge aisle and was standing in plain view as I waited and waited, looking around for someone, anyone, to assist me. Another couple (again, a man and a woman) showed up in the fridge section and again, a Sales Associate instantly assisted them. By this time I was feeling embarrassed and humiliated. Is this how black people felt in the 1950's when they weren't served in stores or restaurants or when they were asked to sit at the back of the bus? A Sales Associate walked right by me so I specifically asked him for assistance; he replied that he would send someone over. I waited some more but no one came. Is it because I'm female? Is it because I didn't have a male partner with me? Whatever the reason, I was blatantly ignored for 20 minutes which I found embarrassing and humiliating. Calgary has lots of stores that sell fridges; why would I return to Trail Appliances? read more

Avoid Trail appliances at all costs!!!! We had the misfortune of buying all of our appliances through our builder from this company and 3 of the 5 appliances purchased have issues. The range we purchased failed the first time we used it and gets as hot on the outside as is does on the inside. The microwave handle and screen for the fan fell off in the the first few weeks and the washing machine power button sticks (so it wont work). When I called, I was told that I have to deal directly with the manufacturer.....basically I got sold lemons and now its my problem. Their customer service manager suggested that I was being insensitive as she had a cold and didnt like the tone I was taking with her. I advised them that I would be telling the builder and reporting them to the BBB....I will also file a claim against them. Its a scam people........Trail appliance will not stand behind the crap they sell to you. They hide behind the manufacturer, the manufacturer hides behind their warranty and the consumer gets screwed......so everybody wins. Do yourself a favour and buy your appliances at Sears..........Beware of Trail Appliances!!!!! read more

The sales reps at Trail are great but the service and warrantee leave a lot to be desired. Regardless of how many messages you leave for the service manager, they will not call you back. There are many other options in Calagry and after repeated issues with Trail's service, I would recommend shopping elsewhere. After having a good experience with Trail through our first builder, we decided to go with them for the next build (the builder refused to deal with them and we now understand why). High-end brands purchased at trail does not mean good service. We are very disappointed and are left with a broken dryer because the service managers do not return calls. You can try asking to speak with an individual directly but that isn't possible as reception told us repeatedly that they don't have the capability of connecting with that department because they are in a separate building.....What??? Please read and trust all the negative reviews before you shop there. Even the sales reps will tell you what a disaster the service department is. read more
