This place has an amazing breakfast! Pro-tip (from a first time attendee) as for hash browns with onions, peppers, cheese and bacon!! You will not regret it! You get this glorious pile of crispy shredded potatoes with caramelized diced onions and quad-colored (they don't mess around! That green, yellow, orange AND red) peppers, perfectly crisped bacon, all smothered in cheese. It's unbelievably good. I also got scrambled eggs, toast and bacon (5 glorious slices!) but I entirely forgot about them while inhaling my luscious carb-fest! Had breakfast here and as usual the food was excellent, good home cooked breakfast! The restaurant is not fancy but very clean and the staff is very friendly. they were very crowded ,but I noticed they alway hand empty tables and there was never a wait the service was great and fast. This is a small business that is pretty good. We just moved to the area a few months ago and recently ran across this establishment. We really like supporting small businesses so we stopped in to give it a try. It's an older but clean place with very friendly staff. We ordered our food and got it in a reasonable amount of time. Our food was obviously fresh and hot. The taste of the food was just ok not bad but not super great either. However, it was a good quick hot lunch. I will definitely come back. Had the Ruben special today curly fries were piping hot and crispy. The Ruben was spot on. AlwYd love this place!

We were looking for something "Not Chain". We wanted straight forward, good food. We drove a little further (from Newport) to try Traditions out. I would say worth the drive. I had the skillet with Sausage and it was enough for 2 meals and tasted great. The fluffy biscuits covered with gravy, eggs and ground sausage, home fries (thin sliced) covered with cheese tasted great. Rather sinful but good. My wife has the fisherman's breakfast and said it hit the spot. All for under $10 each. They do run out of stuff, so get there earlier to have a bigger selection. I am disappointed that I was not "wowed" like some of the other reviewers. Hubby and I tend to like the little family-owned, unique restaurants and we decided to try this one, especially with the previously good reviews. My husband ordered breakfast...2 eggs over easy, some link sausage, hash browns, and rye toast. Can't really go wrong with that. It was standard. Nothing out of the ordinary. He said that he liked how the sausage was browned on the outside, but still juicy on the inside. He did not care that much for the shredded hash browns, though. An average breakfast. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. While I did appreciated the real pieces of bacon, the rest of the salad was just okay. Iceberg lettuce, a handful of pre-shredded cheese, some diced tomatoes, and the bacon. Bottled-type dressing. The chicken that was on top of the salad was seasoned fine, but was dry dry dry...like can barely cut it with a knife dry. I managed to kind of tear it apart into dry jerky-like shreds. Definitely disappointed with the chicken, but when I got a couple of bites of rotten-tasting diced tomato, that really brought things down to 3 stars for me. Very disappointing experience. They must need more help. Food was brought out with no silverware and one napkin( for 2 people). When we asked for more napkins and some silverware they brought out one more napkin and 2 forks then we had too ask for a knife. One of my favorite places to visit for breakfast when I'm in the area and feeling something different from Frisch's. Independently owned, Traditions has fantastic breakfast foods that won't disappoint. They offer bacon, sausage patties, links, as well as goetta or ham for an extra charge. Their breakfast bowls are definitely recommended as well - like most things here, the breakfast bowls give huge portions! I've never had anything from their non-breakfast menu, its really hard to order a burger with such good breakfast foods. Staff is always very friendly. I would rate 5 stars, but there are just a couple issues I have with Traditions. First, they tend to be fairly packed and busy whenever I go. It may take 10+ minutes to receive food. Second, seating in Traditions is very limited (also why they are also pretty much full every time I go). There also really isn't seating for parties larger than 5 people, so if coming with a large group be prepared to sit separately or wait until they can piece together 2 open tables...which might take a while. If you like fresh-made breakfast and aren't feeling a run to Frisch's, Traditions is a great place to check out. Highly recommended read more

This is a great spot to stop into. Small diner with a comfortable at home feel. You can seat yourself where you'd like and the server will have some warm coffee to you in no time. I visited with my father. We both got the skillet (I got small, Dad got large size). The large size could feed a small family! The menu does say "be warned"! I didn't even finish my small size. So we awkwardly stood at the entrance, trying to make eye contact with the staff, with no one greeting us, telling us what to do, whether or not there was a wait time--NOTHING, even when there were 3 waitresses who saw us there and just ignored us as they walked by. After about 10-15 minutes of awkwardly just standing there as people inside watched us while they ate, and no one giving us any direction or warm welcome, we left. I might be a little biased about Traditions be my Uncle is the cook/owner but I believe I would give it five stars either way.. As I would give him five stars on his weekly Sunday breakfast that he always cooked for us when we were kids. Traditions makes a very good home style breakfast and lunch, including some very good goetta. They will cook anything they have that you want to order.. So if you like it crispy just ask.
