We stopped by this location since it was convenient to our hotel as we walked back from the nearby Metro station. Grabbed my absolute favorite product -- dark chocolate covered expresso beans. Checkout was FAST! The long lines are deceiving because we moved at the speed of light. Well, almost. Store was easy to navigate and logically organized. Employees were polite and efficient. Some of the patrons were annoying, particularly those who have a dog on a leash and don't keep it close by, thereby creating a tripping hazard. read more

This review is lonnngggg overdue especially with as many times as I frequent Trader Joe's --especially this location. But today is indeed the day because I left my wallet in one of their carts on accident and an hour later when I realized it they had my wallet locked up and ready for me when I arrived. They even made sure to verify my identity before handing over the wallet and everything was inside of it still. *throws arms up* I am so grateful and appreciate the customer service and care as if it were your own wallet. So aside from this one off instance I feel like I always receive amazing customer service when I come here. What I will say is try to visit this location on the weekday instead of the weekend because it gets crazy busy. And then everything that you may actually want will probably be sold out and the line will be wrapped around the store. But yea, great assortment of items and large area for the flowers and plants which I appreciate it. They have a free 90 minute garage which is perfect and makes it easy to pop in and out. Yes! They're always stocked with fresh flowers and new exciting options for me to try. If you are going for flowers, I suggest going early because it is a very central location for so many ppl and apparently everyone wants to make their own arrangements these days lol. This is a great TJ's location. It's in the Union Market area and can get crowded. The staff are friendly and quick. The long lines never mean a long wait time. The produce is good (and that's not always easy to do in DC). The many offerings are yum. (Special shoutout to the mushroom and truffle ravioli.) And it's all surprisingly affordable. It has definitely become one of our go-to spots for groceries. read more

I like that this Trader Joe's isn't as packed with long lines as most of my other Trader Joe's experiences in other states and locations. It's always clean and has several store security guards there. I like the affordable prices and healthy options, this is especially important because I prefer fresh fruits and vegetables. Whole Foods has a better bakery and more fresh food and fresh juice options, but it's also much more expensive. The affordable prices makes this more palatable. I like some of the frozen food options. It's nice to shop here to find a few options for food, but I would have to supplement it with other grocery stores. The workers here have always been pleasant during checkout and the line goes quickly. read more

Excellence is always evident. I am not sure if I have ever written a supermarket review before but my experience today compels me to write. As a rule, every time I go to Trader Joe's EVERY employee I have met has always been friendly and helpful. When I ask where something is the staff member will walk me to the proper aisle and make sure I have found the item I was looking for. Out of all the stores I have been to Trader Joe's has the best customer service bar none. Today I had a slightly different experience, during checkout the associate who was helping me, Ty, very deliberately and intentionally packed my food with so much care. He even noticed that one of the cherries in my pound of cherries had gone bad and took it upon himself to walk to the produce section to get me a new package! This. Has. Never. Happened. To. Me. Before! Rarely do I see people go out of their way or go the extra mile for a stranger when they have nothing to gain from the situation. Today Ty displayed the highest level of excellence in customer service and I wanted to express my appreciation. Thank you Ty. Thank you Trader Joe's! You done good! read more

Jaylen was my cashier today. He was very fast, kind and efficient. I had my little ones with me and he carried the big waters to the car for me. Very good customer service. I picked up some gummies for the kiddos because they are yummy and not horrible for them. It always smells good in there when you walk in because of the flowers. So I love it! read more

I stopped by to paricularly pick up frozen chicken tenders and coffee which both were reasonably priced. Their frozen chicken tender are very good. Overall, the stored is roomy and has a good selection (except they did not stock lemon juice from what I gathered from an employee). The check out line can be a little long but it moves quick. The cashiers here are very friendly. Overall, my experience was very good. read more

This is was my first time into a DC Trader Joe's to get a few things for my place. I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's, IMHO it's the closest competitor to Whole Foods without having the high prices (Whole Paycheck as they call it). Store was clean, organized, well maintained and pleasant staff. I'm not sure if it is the location, time of year or day of the week...but it was really busy, like shoulder to shoulder busy. I'll definitely try this location again to see if it's just as busy. Generally a great store and I think you should go if you haven't. -ODL read more

I have been going to this TJ for years and am so upset to give this 1 star review. I went into the store with my Black male cousins and, while I shopped, they were racially profiled by both the staff and security. I spoke with security who said that the staff were watching them and therefore he decided to follow my cousins around the store. I would expect more from TJ and I am incredible disappointed by this racist behavior. read more

They had what I wanted and the price was right. Very convenient to the gallaudet Metro Station on the red line. If you're staying at the courtyard hotel it's a 3-minute walk. read more

This location is by Union Market. The store isn't huge but it has a decent selection of produce, breads, meat items, healthy items, unique spices and fun meals. The shopping bags are unique. This store is so spacious! I can find everything I need without having to play bumper carts with nearby customers. I initially visited on a Friday afternoon at 1pm and I loved having the store almost to myself. I've visited a few times on the weekends and the store is never as packed as other TJ's locations. There are fewer aisles in this store than in other locations, but each aisle is very long. Frozen goods are easy to reach since everything is laid out horizontally in the freezer. No standing on my tippy toes to grab that last box of mini chicken tacos! Food samples are available at the sampling area in the back left corner of the store. I have yet to experience any wine samples although I was told by a store employee that that does happen on the weekends. There's a decent wine section in the back right side of the store. This area is distinct from the checkout line, so you won't be able to grab your wine while standing on the checkout line like you do at some other TJ's. This store is in a great location with underground parking. It's also within walking distance of the NoMa-Gallaudet University metro station. This is my favorite TJ's location in the DC metro area. read more

This Trader Joe's may be the BEST TJ's in the city. If it's not, it's certainly the biggest. It's in a new condo building in NoMa close to Union Market and is HUGE. There's parking off course underground, but once you enter the grocery store, you'll find the aisles wide and more aisles than other TJ's in the city. They have all the usual goods from flowers to frozen meals to wine in a can. In the back, they sample the latest and greatest. The check out line is as fast and helpful as usual and there are more cashiers here than other stores. read more

You know you are 30 when you a favorite grocery store, and guess what THIS IS IT. No need to protect the back of your heels here -- the aisles are wide and open. Multiple carts are able to pass through and you are still able to browse in dignity as you ponder what is the best flavor of Jo-Jos to purchase. They sell items that I've never even seen in other Trader Joe's before (probably due to space issues). I literally had a field day throwing every single seasonal pumpkin spice everything in my cart during a lovely fall evening. The store is staffed well and lines move fast. I had stopped going to Trader Joe's since college because it used to not be very accessible and I didn't think they had organic produce but since I moved I realized there was one 15 mins from me so I thought I'd take a peak! I'm glad that I did because they do have organic produce and a many many other options for a great price. I was very impressed. They even make it easy for parking as they have a parking garage attached. They have a very simple return policy too so if you try something and don't like it you can return for a refund or an exchange. My only criticism is that I wish the customer service was a little more friendly. None of them are rude and they're helpful I just remember at the other Trader Joe's I used to go to people being more cheerful and amicable. read more

I've been to this Trader Joe's a few times and have always left being able to find things easily. I really like the Dark Chocolate Pretzels and they are always stocked here unlike the Eastern Market location. They never seem to have them. It is above ground and the windows do place everything in a nice light. All of my visits outside of the one time I walked here from someone's crib nearby have been trips where I've driven here. I don't know about you, but exiting onto Florida Ave. seems like nothing I would ever want to attempt from the parking garage. There has to be a good reason for where the parking garage entrance is but I don't know. Every time I've been, the lines have moved quickly and everyone there was nice. Not one complaint so I have little to say. read more

I LOVE MY NEIGHBORHOOD TRADER JOE'S! I was excited when the Eastern Market TJ's opened, but the Union Market one is much better. It is spacious, has more on the shelves, and there is abundant natural light thanks to the ceiling-high windows. My only complaint is that the entrance to the parking garage has a disastrous middle barrier that causes you to run over either that barrier or, more likely, the outer curb. This is no exaggeration; I have never seen a car not go up on the curb upon entering this parking structure. Union Market Trader Joe's: your loyal shoppers and their vehicles will thank you if this gets fixed!!! The aisles are expansive, the staff is friendly, and the lines always move quickly at this Trader Joe's. Succulents and flowers are plentiful. This is my favorite Trader Joe's in the city because of how spacious it is. The ceilings are super high and the aisles are wide. Not sure if it is because of how much relatively larger it is than the other TJs in DC, but it almost seems like they carry more items here. I like how you are greeted with the flowers in one corner upon entering this TJs, and I can't help but to always pick some up. They even have the little plastic bouquet buckets that you hang on your cart so that your flowers can sit upright while you shop. Next, there never seems to be a long lines here. None of that ridiculousness of the lines wrapping around the store like in Foggy Bottom or 14th Street. There is also a parking lot that seems a lot more spacious and easily accessible via Florida Ave. read more

This place is my happy place! I only JUST found out that the new location had opened two months ago. That made me sad that I let two months past without knowing of its existence. But it's okay, I made up for it by dropping all the moneys there when I went. It's huge! Many people might not know of its existence still, which is good because I went a little before 5pm on a weekday day and it was so quiet and peaceful I just wanted to pull out my blanket and lay on the ground between the produce and close my eyes. This is so much closer to me than the 14th street location. But the best news of ALL time is that I won't need to go to that horrible Wal-Mart on H street anymore. This trader Joe's is it! Their alcohol section looks smaller than the 14th street location. I'm not sure if that means they have less options, but other than the Green Fin Merlot, I found everything I was looking for (are they no longer selling it?? It was so delicious! Please bring it back!). The new Shaw bottles are dope! They have twist on-and-off corks! I don't know if TJ is revolutionary or I'm just behind, but this is the coolest invention ever!! For newbies to TJ, their products are the best, freshest and the most delicious. Best thing is that EVERYTHING is absolutely affordable. No they are not as cheap as Wal-Mart grocery (what is? Lidl?), but they are definitely cheaper than Harris teeter and Safeway and Whole Foods for BETTER quality products/foods. So please come here. You won't be disappointed. Nice store that doesn't get too crowded and has staff that keeps the line moving at checkout. I am a big fan of Trader Joe's. The store is kept clean, bright, well organized and stocked. The aisles are longer than most other TJ's than I've been to. A few items are found in different locations of the store. The associates here are helpful and will get you what you need. There is a place to lock your bicycle right outside along with bike lanes. My tip for coming here would be to bring your own bag, bring a shopping list. One employee, maybe he was new, gave me just one paper bag for a substantial amount of items that I bought. I would have preferred he gave me two in case it didn't rip, but I ended up putting some items in my backpack. There is a parking garage here as well as elevators, but I never use it since I bike here. read more

I was really excited to find a Trader Joe's close to my house, and it did not disappoint! Since it is located right by Union market, I was worried about parking, but Trader Joe's has its own garage, and parking is free. Even though it is a small market, it is attractive, well organized, and isles are wide. Drawbacks: I would like a little more selection (I needed napkins and they did not carry any) and customer service is hit or miss-- sometimes friendly sometimes icy. I walked by several employees who did not look at me or greet me. I will definitely be giving this location more visits in the future. read more

This was my first time ever shopping at a Trader Joe's. It came highly recommended from a friend as an alternative to Aldi's so I checked it out. I'm doing a carb cycling meal plan and needed specific items for meal prep. So I wandered up and down the aisles shopping for what I could find. They had most of the items I needed with a few exceptions. It was a little difficult to navigate and the items were not clearly labeled to find. I also found their prices to be a bit high compared to Aldi's. I plan to return and check out their wine selection when I am off my meal plan and bale to splurge on wine again! read more

This is by far the best Trader Joe's in DC (I have indeed been to all of them) and maybe my favorite TJ's ever. This opened when I was living in NoMa so that was a godsend to begin with but now I live in Eastern Market and I venture to NoMa to go this TJ's instead! My friends are always telling me to shut up about this TJ's because I'm basically a walking infomercial for them. The aisles are so wide and high ceilings and lighting are great! It's organized very intuitively and I love the "New Items" endcap. All the employees I have interacted with are incredibly helpful. There's a parking garage underneath the facility that is fairly large though slightly treacherous to navigate at peak times. TLDR: Best TJ's; worth it to go out of your way read more
