This is my favorite spirits store in DC. They recently renovated the store and it's much prettier and larger than before. They have an enormous liquor selection, an entire fridge for rosé, and plenty of beer. Plus plenty of mixers, Red Bull, etc. I have recently gotten into craft beer, and Hop Cask does an awesome job sourcing beers from smaller, independent breweries. In the cooler closest to the back wall, they have an entire fridge dedicated to individual 16 ounce beers from smaller breweries. I constantly find myself returning to see what's new. It is a great way to try new beers without having to purchase 4/6/12 of them. I'm a big fan of New England style IPAs and they consistently cycle new ones in and out, including two of my favorite breweries, Single Cut and Commonwealth Brewing. Hop Cask also frequently updates their beer selection on Untappd app. So if I'm curious which new beers they got in, I can check the app to find out and read reviews on those beers. It helps me decide which ones to try next. I wish more stores and bars used this app so that I could seek out specific beers! Cheers to these guys. read more

As a west coaster, I'm hella salty Safeway can somehow be 24/7 and yet not be able to serve more than beer and wine. DC is someways miles ahead while also 2 steps back. Guess that's why Hop Cask and Barrel can get away with so much business so close. I think it covers a lot of bases alcohol-wise with a really well catered beer section, so I'll cover some of the highlights that makes them stand out. If you do delivery, you can get it through Yelp but it's ridiculously cheap. We had some 200-odd beers with ice for a flat fee of $7. And if you're lucky, you can also sign up for Jared's beer club list. There $25 and $55 tier packages where you get catered some unique stuff for the month that's better value than what you pay! I've had some really great IPAs and stouts so far. All in all, not usually that big of a fan of liquor stores, but these guys are solid. read more

This shop is amazing for both whiskey and wine. The prices are fair and their High West Cognac finished Barrel Pick Bourbon was AMAZING! I will definitely be going back for those hard to find bourbons. read more

***Craft Beer review only*** Great bottle shop, definitely one of the best DC has to offer if not the best. They always have a great selection on hand with a lot of hard to find small distro stuff. They also do a great job at posting new arrivals on social media which is helpful. The manager knows his stuff and it's always cool talking shop about craft beer with that guy. The only improvement I can call out really is I wish they'd go back to publishing their inventory on Untappd instead of solely having to watch social media and navigate the rigid website. The app really helps in showing ratings, new beer notifications, quick sorting lists and it's great in identifying beers I (or my friends) have had and what we thought of them. read more

Ordered online for same-day delivery. They had exactly the products I want (two different pretty popular mass-market boxed wines). I ordered it all and the order went through. Got a call from them 20 minutes later that neither of them were actually in stock, and that they were happy to substitute a totally different wine which retails for the same price. Everything was pleasant, and they refunded my card, but be warned that their website does not at all match what's in stock. read more

This liquor store is a lot bigger than it looks like it would be from the outside. They have a large selection of liquor but not nearly as much beer and wine. They carry some products from local DC distilleries which is great as well since I'm a fan of a lot of the local brands. read more

I just moved into the neighborhood and stopped here for the first time. I'm not sure what more you could ask for in a locally owned beer, wine and liquor store. The store is really well organized and the selection is quite impressive across the board. The prices seemed completely reasonable on everything I looked at. There didn't seem to be any of the usual you live in Georgetown so we're going to mark everything up. The guy working there, not sure if he's the owner, but he's definitely interested in the success of the store, and he was great. He provided recommendations but didn't push anything too hard and he mentioned some upcoming free tastings that I might be interested in. read more

Hop, Cask and Barrel is probably the best craft beer store in the DC area. They have a wide variety of both local and national craft beers and seem to be constantly rotating in new things to try. They also have a large selection of beers that they sell by the single cans or bottles. Highly recommend this place and especially the Commonwealth IPAs that they sell. read more

Fantastic selection of mainstream and craft beer, wine, and liquor! Well priced and convenient on Wisconsin Ave., Hop Cask & Barrel is a wonderful addition to the Georgetown/Burleith areas. They also offer delivery via the Drizly app on smartphones, which is super convenient and will definitely be taken advantage of by myself and family. The owner is very friendly and took a request of mine for a specific wine without hesitation, as well as offered a taste of a wine while I was looking at the selection. Decent store, but totally incompetent staff. First, I called to make sure they had what I wanted. That took far too long, as they didn't recognize the name of what I was asking for (a fairly famous brand), and then they quoted me the wrong price. After finally confirming that they had it, I went to the store, and there it was. But then they couldn't get their register to work. They kept apologizing for their new software, which they obviously had no clue how to operate. So I left without making a purchase, and I won't be back. read more

They also have mixers near the front. We still find better wine prices at trader joes but this place certainly has more variety. read more

What a beautiful store! Stopped in this afternoon to peruse their selection and I was impressed! From small batch DC-brewed spirits to an extensive whiskey shelf to a huge walk-in beer room, rotating growler taps, the perfect combination of classic names and boutique wines, I could go on and on... I was surfing the net for liquor stores with a good beer selection (mainly looking for a place that could give a good recommendation on an IPA for a friend) and this place popped up. I am so glad I decided to stop by! This is now my go-to liquor store in Georgetown. The store is organized, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, I was immediately helped when I walked through the door and the guy who greeted me was very helpful. They have such a large selection. I knew what I needed to get so I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I have some more time, I'll be back to browse the shelves more thoroughly. read more

I am SO impressed with Hop Cask & Barrel! I called from out of state based on internet reviews to inquire about sending some craft beer to a family member. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but the manager was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable in helping me with my choices. I arranged for delivery and delivery was done as promised on the right date and time - for only a $5 delivery charge! The manager even called to let me know that the beer had been delivered. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this locally owned business to anyone who values good prices and good service. Absolutely the best craft beer store I've ever been to in DC (and among the best I've ever been to period). Great selection, rotating drafts for growler fills, updated stock and fantastic events and promotions. But the clear winner here is service - everyone in the store is passionate about beer and wine and are friendly, respectful, and quick with suggestions without being pushy.
