Having made many stops at Trader Joe's in other cities, we are delighted to have our own T.J.'s here in Spokane. The products are all high quality, prices are often lower than other stores and coupons are not needed. Your greatest asset lies in the employees who are happy to work there, very helpful, easy to access and willing to stop what they are doing to guide us to items we seek. They go the extra step to check the computer and tell us when items not currently on the shelves will be available again. the store is well organized to minimize shopping time and check out is quick and easy. Last week we stopped at Trader Joe's for sunflowers to cheer our hospitalized son suffering from an intestinal obstruction and still recovering from serious foot surgery. A speeding driver ran a stop and hit our son as he biked to work in June. "Justin" checked us out, asked about our day, and reacted with sincere empathy when he heard our son's story. Justin said, "Can you wait here a minute?". We agreed, and were overwhelmed when Justin quickly put together a gift package for us to take to our son. This great employee of Trader Joe's showed such concern and generosity that my husband and I could not stop tears from welling up in our eyes! We have shared this story with dozens of friends and want to be sure Justin's manager and co-workers know what a fine young man he is. This grocery store is always so crazy ass busy. Everyone likes Trader Joes but if you are just going in here to get one thing then it can be a pain in the butt to get in and out. It seems like I only come here maybe once every two months to stock up on a few things that I can't get at other places. One thing that I really don't like buying here are vegetables or produce. I don't like how they will bundle things up and you are forced to buy several vegetables when all you need is one item. read more

Wish we had one in Montana. This is the closest one to where I live and I would shop here exclusively if I could. What's not to love about healthyish, fresh, and interesting food that is also cheap?! Liquor and wine are cheap too. Samples are given out frequently. Many of their foods and groceries are inspiring. Love em! read more

i am a huge fan of trader joes. its my favorite grocery store for some things. cheese, awesome. veggies and fruits... some things not all. snacks. awesome. mostly. shampoo and laundry soap love. love love. bakery, love the seed bread and sourdough boules. and babka and a lot of things. charcuterie... yay. carrot juice. eggs butter, smokes salmon and trout. all these things and more. however. i am highly frustrated with the freezer section and outside of the trader mings line and the desserts i would suggest ignoring that aisle altogether. (except the cookies are there and so are the cheddar rockets) the freezer section is the reason this place doesnt get five stars. i have tried and tried and just keep getting dissapointed and sometimes grossed out and almost always surprised that the product looks nothing like the picture. read more

This morning I had my first encounter with Trader Joes since I was last in one, in Temecula Ca., in about 2002, so I was excited to get inside. Upon entering the store and gazing at all the foods and veggies I was overwhelmed with sensory overload. I took my time and went up and down each isle. The employees were very helpful and outgoing which made the shopping experience very pleasant. I wasn't disappointed at all. I left knowing it wouldn't be long before I was back. The selection and prices were very good as far as I was concerned. And I know the quality will be just as good too. It was a pleasurable shopping experience. Now if I can just talk them into opening a store say, downtown? :-) I'll be back soon! read more

I've been anxiously waiting for Trader Joe's to get to Spokane. It's a ways from my home on Loon Lake but I finally made it today! It is beautiful and I think it is a lot roomier than any TJ's i've been in. Besides, the "smallness" is part of the charm. It was a great experience and everyone was friendly and so helpful. I'm so happy to have a Trader Joe's in the Spokane area (I wish they open one in the Coeur d'Alene too!!). I both yesterday one of the best wine around, the Bruno d'Avola, for only $5.99 !! I love having Trader Joe's in Spokane and I love the prices. Those who posted here that the prices are too high are probably high on something, or they never shop anywhere there is organic food. The prices are way less than some of the specialty stores in Spokane that sell organic food. I recently had to go gluten free and their signs on everything are so helpful! I have found the clerks to be very helpful when I'm looking for special items that are delivered each day and I happen to be there too late in the day to get them. I even found Sasquatch once and got candy. You are never too old to enjoy a fun store!! read more

LOVE Trader Joes for its quality, and inexpensive food. It is a great place to shop if you are a busy family such as mine, but still wants to eat healthy. They have a good variety of ready made or frozen foods. With new and exciting items coming in all of the time. The only thing I have ever had a problem there is the produce can be a little less than desirable. The staff there is amazingly friendly! read more

I shop here every Sunday morning and last week I was very impressed with an employee there, enough that I wanted to write a review. Their meat manager met with me and we discussed grass fed beef- they are going to start carrying it for me! The staff is always very friendly and they seem to want to know what their customers are looking for and they actually listen. Always quality healthy food here. Every time my family and I go to the south hill we stop here. The only thing I notice different is that there's not a lot of organic options like there was. But I still get a lot of my groceries here because it is still good quality food for great prices can't beat that! read more

I was glad that TJs was finally in Spokane when we moved back here. Sad that the bread is not the same- Traders Sourdough and Ezekiel Cinn.Raisin bread are among my usual purchases and the sourdough label and texture was very different. ..the Rainier brand Ezekiel bread was not nearly as good as the Food For Life Ezekiel bread. I will be asking the store about this...or looking for another source for my bread :-( Still love their dairy , frozen, produce etc !! read more

I've been going to Trader Joe's in So. Ca. ad No. Ca. since the original Trader Joe's which was called Pronto Market in the late 70's and have never been let down. The only problem I have found with Trader Joe's is the crowds on the weekends. That speaks volumes about how much people love their T.J.'s. I suggest hitting it on a weekday if you are not into crowds. Since my first visit to Spokane, I have been saying that the one thing Spokane was lacking was a Trader Joe's so I was very happy to see it finally get here. It is very well laid out and the staff as always is top notch. You can find other stores that sell similar items but the authenticity of Trader Joe's items and customer service is unparalleled. I know many people in Spokane won't "get it" until later in the game and will have a mind set like Tom S.'s review and that is fine. You either get it or you don't. If you can't tell the difference between Trader Joe's bread and Safeway's bread and think that the cheese at the supermarket is the same as the cheese at T.J.'s or the quality of T.J.'s items are not worth the money, you are probably not into high end food experiences. That's cool. Not everyone is going to care about quality. There are a lot of people that are into spending as little as possible for everything they do in life. i absolutely love this store.the service is 9/10 tremendous. i think they constantly have the best produce in the area. great prices. their store brand products are all top quality, particularly their coffee. we drive out from CdA to both stores at least once a month. trader joe's is what all other grocery stores, and i'm especially looking at you safeway and albertson's, should aspire to be. can't wait to get a store closer to us. read more

I was excited Trader Joe's was coming to Spokane, However, I've been less than impressed with the quality of their goods I've tried so far. I had to return some caramelized nuts that were rancid. A salad I bought looked good from the outside, and not expired yet, but was way past its prime when I got into it. A lasagna was completely tasteless and inedible. I DO like their friendly cashiers, and tomatillo salso. I'll give them a couple more tries, but don't plan to shop there very much. read more

I purchased staples, raw , unsalted cashews,brazil nuts, filberts[hazel nuts], pecans, and pistachios. The cashews and brazil nuts were quite moldy and inedible. The filberts and pecans were a bit rancid. The pistachios were great. Dried unsulphered cherries, apricots and figs were just fine. The organic raisins were OK if a bit dessicated beyond just dried, The dried baby pineapple was excellent. Bagged organic salad mixes were not the freshest. Wild frozen blueberries were great. Bagged cut up curly kale was OK. Red peppers were OK .Fresh green beans were tough and stringy [but it is winter]. The frozen asparagus spears were tough and stringy which is definitely not OK. Canned, unsweetened Gravenstein applesauce was wonderful and a great deal at $1.99 a jar. Whole wheat pasta was good. In other TJ stores in California I have had excellent bread and cheeses, but did not try those at this store. The mold issue may be universal with the supplier or a storage issue with this store. Pick and choose. I still shop here once every 6 weeks or so. .Recently tried [December 2012] several new items for me at this Spokane TJs with highs and lows. Roasted filberts were excellent with no mold and unsulphered dried pineapple slices were yummy. Medjool dates were fine this time, last batch was beginning to ferment. Frozen raspberries were a 50/50 toss up, one bag had moldy berries, one bag was mold free. I bought some spectacular brie like cheese with a streak of blue cheese running through it, so yummy. The service is great and very friendly. Again pick and choose, especially if you are allergic to mold. read more

Extremely disappointed. I expected more organic items, especially produce. The organic peppers were cheap but out of date and in plastic. The produce section was overwhelmingly non-organic. There was no deli, There were few non-gluten and non-dairy items.The store was small and didn't have many cereals that we eat. I didn't see any bulk food bins. I am not sure what the hype is. The cashier said Traders Joe's brand doesn't have added ingredients but they sell deli meat with nitrites in it. Will not be back. Had to go back to Huckleberries to get non-gluten, non dairy items. Are all Trader Joes lIke this? I wanted an alternative that would be competition for Huckleberries and get them to lower their very high prices. This is not it. read more

Frankly, not terribly impressed with this store or TJ's in general. The fresh flowers may be a good buy, but they don't last, even using the packet of freshness enhancer. The frozen foods are to me just edible but not outstanding. The most recent salad I bought - a Baby Spinach and Greens - consisted of mostly wilted and slimy greens, blue cheese completely melted together, and a tasteless raspberry vinaigrette. On the good side however, the cheeses are good, the hummus is good, the taco seasoning is good, BUT, hardly enough to make me want to shop there regularly. read more

Any time my wife and I are on the South Hill this is a must stop for us. They have a very, very wide variety of produce, including many Items that can only be found here! There is so much to love about this store, the specialty foods, the wine, the staff. Their prices are unbeatable too! I have had several different types of fish,ie, Swordfish, Mahi Mahi, Ahi, Shrimp and the seafood stew. They were all delicious. Live in Tri Cities and look forward to visiting again soon. read more

I love this store. It's certainly as good as the one ones I've been to in Seattle & the SF Bay Area. The quality of their frozen foods and meats are the best I've seen anywhere in Spokane. They tend to keep iffy ingredients like artificial preservatives out of their processed food, and the prices & quality of their grass fed beef is the best in town. I've found the quality & prices of their organic produce (although limited in selection) to be better than Huckleberries. And the employees are extremely helpful. I was lugging around a basket that I overfilled, and one employee noticed & came back with a cart for me. I just wish they had a store on the north side. read more

Good selection of foods, beers and wines. Fair market prices. Most all of their food is more healthy and less processed. Great prices on extra virgin olive oils too. Frozen foods and desserts too. I used to shop at the original trader joes in Pasadena and they are always helpful and friendly. Check them out for yourself and you decide. Alright Spokane. After readying all the reviews raving "high fives" for Trader Joe's I got a huge problem that I know will hit many forks right where it counts; in their mouths/ morning coffee. TJ's supplies a type of seasonal yummy morning drink called Pumpkin Spice Coffee for $7.99 a can. If you never have had it your missing something great however you will have to wait until next year to try it. Well, after getting hooked late last year and having the staff at TJ's tell me it's a "seasonal" and that I will not be able to acquire any more until the following fall. I waited for the chill in the air and thoughts of holiday cheer.. Long story short the "spice" was released a couple weeks ago. I got my first can, enjoyed and went back today for more. NO GOOD. Trader Joe's is out of it and won't have any more until next year. Released 3 weeks ago and GONE. AMAZING. TJ's told me last year they were going to have "more" in stock for the demand. NOPE....However I guess the glass is always 1/2 full (coffee)....Guess what I found. Yep, on E-BAY....$22.50 a can. WOW it's got to be gold flakes in that can. Wondering who is really making the profit on this............. read more
