Upfront just want to say, if you are looking for bargains, you don't understand what Trader Joe's truly is. However, if you are looking for unique stuff to fill your belly, this is where you want to be. It has a fun mom and pop market feel too, so shopping for groceries is kinda enjoyable. Especially impresses with the variety of frozen stuff they have. The wine and beer folk are pretty knowledgeable too, so if you don't know what to pair with all the snooty food you just bought, they will guide you to some great beverages. read more

I love Trader Joe's. This store, although it's on the smaller side, still has all the TJ staples and favorites. This place is always clean and the friendly staff are always hard at work stocking product or helping customers. I've been impressed with their frozen fruit and vegetable selection, excellent for smoothies. Other than the frozen fruits and vegetables, my favorite staples include the speculoos cookies (and cookie butter, which is great in oatmeal), chickless tenders, sriracha garlic bbq sauce, black olives (canned olives are not at all the same), nondairy milks, their ghost pepper chips are good and their selection of dried fruit and nuts are quite good. If this store was closer I would make this my regular weekly stop, but because of their great products, I try to venture here once a month. read more

It's Trader Joe's, what can I say. They do a great job of managing their stores. I like the location. It's at the end of a shopping strip an has a large parking that can get full but doesn't feel crowded. Prices are reasonable and items are kept stocked. The store always appears clean and you consistently see employees checking products for freshness. There's a good flow to the store that allows for easy shopping. Recently visited the TJ on 29th. Bought cheese at molded with in a month of purchase. In the factory sealed package. I was surprised, TJ usually has such fresh merchandise. I must say that Trader Joe's came as a complete surprise to me. I walked in expecting to find Organic and GMO free stuff, and they have a lot of that. I was also expecting to find higher than average prices . . . . . . well, I'll be. Yes, some of the stuff is overpriced, but the most pleasant surprise of the visit was the Trader Joe's brand items, much of it also Organic and GMO free, and most of these at very good prices! A solid Trader Joe's location that hits the high standard I've come to expect. With that said, I'll just make note of a few things unique to this particular location. 1.) There's almost always someone working the sample station. They are really good at putting out different foods, and sometimes they even combine ingredients / cook something unique by experimenting with various store products. 2.) Milk can sometimes be really close to expiration. Check dates before purchase. 3.) Ready-made wraps and salads tend to be awful. Not unique to this store but worth mentioning. 4.) Service is pretty great. Cashiers are universally friendly and easy-going. 5.) The parking lot can get pretty hairy so go slow and keep your head on a swivel. read more

It's nice to walk into a store that reminds me of home back in Cali, and yes - to all you haters, that is my favorite part of the store, that it reminds me of the BETTER things in California! HAHAHAHA. But in all seriousness, it's way nicer than even Cali's because it is NEVER as packed as any of the million of locations from the Westside to the South Bay to the San Gabriel Valley in California. For those unfamiliar with Trader Joe's, it's not super hoity toity like Whole Foods, but it is more expensive than a Fresh n Easy (not in Spokane yet, wait for it...). It's actually the best for single people and one of my staple stores when I was single because it's a place where you can get awesome but limited produce (and not in bulk!), drinks, appetizers, and excellent frozen food for prices comparable to a grocery store (and can I just add the mochi is cheaper than a 99 Ranch Market's in California). But alas, it is not an end all grocery store, it is a supplement where we get amazing snacks for my toddler, hummus, sauces, salsa, chips, and sometimes fruits and veggies. Prices are comparable to grocery store items not on sale, but quality is way above. And for the ethnic variety that you can get... it's unbeatable. My only complaint are the free sample folks, kinda aloof and make me feel stingy for taking a sample (or two or three) whereas in California, it was more of a "Hey! Take a sample pleaseeeee!!! You'll love it, your kid is cute, what are you up to..." etc., over the top gregarious but it made me feel good and not at all shy about taking some free samples which usually led to me purchasing the item. You cannot go wrong with a trader joes. Quite small in comparison to many other grocery stores, but somehow have quite the variety of packaged and fresh food. They have flowers, alcohol, organic fresh and canned options. Different kinds of eggs, milk, CHEESE, greens, nuts, frozen foods, etc. Yeah this place is great. They have a sample booth and always have one item to eat and a coffee to try. Clean place, the cashiers and baggers are very friendly and very helpful. And prices? Gold! I shop at store 164 in Spokane, WA. I have been so impressed with how the store is handling the COVID 19 Stay at Home situation. Every time I am there, employees are cleaning and sterilizing anywhere they can. The shelves are incredibly well stocked. And the employees remain happy, friendly and helpful!! Everyone STOP - if you are reading reviews here let me tell you that most of the naysayers have never stepped foot inside of a Trader Joe's since their complaints are nonsensical. Trader Joe's is a very inexpensive store for the items you get (NOTE: I find their very small fresh meat/fish section to be overpriced but everything else is cheap.) Basil - LARGE container $ 2.99 Fresh single serving pizzas with unusual toppings $ 3.99+ Very tasty wrap sandwiches - $3.99+ Cheese's at very good prices It's a boutique grocery store where you can buy unique items very reasonable and if you like prepared frozen food they have a great selection of items that you can't find anywhere else. They also offer many single serving items for those singles and small eaters. PS TJ's is privately held by German grocery store company, no reason to hate them because you hate California. read more

I'm so excited the Spokane area finally has a TJs! I've shopped at many different locations in Nevada and California over the years, and I have to say, this one is certainly one of the most beautiful, well stocked TJs I've ever seen. They had exactly what we were looking for, and we had no trouble finding it, and man, were the prices right! And despite being crowded the day we went (opening day) we were able to get in and out in record time due to the super fast check out lines. The layout of the store is easy to navigate, and if you've been to TJs before, you'll be happy to see all the familiar and favorite choices are here, as well as quite a few new items. Interestingly, I noticed many of the frozen selections here are being offered for a lower price than at my local TJs, and considering their prices are already amazingly low, that's really saying something. I didn't have time to check prices of all the items I normally buy throughout the entire store, but the items I did purchase were either the same price or lower than my own store so that's great news for my friends and family who live here! Besides being known for their exceptional food/drink selections and low prices, most TJs are also known for their outstanding cashiers, but it was immediately evident to me that this location has truly exceptional customer service. Even though the store was phenomenally overwhelmed with customers, to a person all the employees were happy and friendly, not letting the stressful circumstances get to them at all. One was kindly taking time to help a handicapped individual navigate the crowds, others were cheerful answering people's questions and helping customers locate store items. I was very, very impressed with the quality of service I saw and experienced. I can tell that this new Trader Joes will have no trouble living up to the high standards of food and service that all its sister stores are known for. And how they are able to do that while keeping quality high and prices so low will forever be something that amazes me! read more

Ok, I'm not really into the whole organic, all natural, free range, non GMO, fair trade, etc, etc, junk. Typically these products command a significant premium and I'm simply not willing to pay for it. Trader Joe's does a fantastic job of creating products that satisfy all of the people looking for that organic garbage and also me - guy who won't pay for it! Trader Joe's is actually a competitively priced grocery store and has great frozen entrées and appetizer options! My favorite part of the store is the great cheese selection and the super cheap wine (2 buck chuck!..it's now $2.50/bottle). More recently they have 3-liter boxes of wine that stay good for something like 45 days in the fridge. It's actually pretty good wine all things considered. The cookies are super legit and you won't be able to stop at one. Even if you're like me and not really into all this organic junk, Trader Joe's is a great option! Let me start by saying I absolutely loved our South Hill Trader Joe's! The staff--awesome! Trendy! Eclectic! Items, different! Love, Love, Love!! Organic! Keurig price and taste of coffee--wicked-awesome! However, HUGE concerns below: I have noticed on the last few occasions of shopping that dated salad bags (meaning expiring the next day), half n half with only a week or so left before expiration (usually expiration is about a month in regular stores), mango's, rock hard or semi-soft and rotten by the time they are soft-ish (the last three I purchased), and the issue that prompted this low review: I went shopping on January 5th and purchased a TJ loaf of Tuscan Pane bread. On the 9th I had my first sandwich from the loaf--and later that night got really queasy, sick, yucky tummy issue and...you know. On the 10th, (just 5 days later) I pulled the loaf out, wanting to just have some toast from still feeling sick and the loaf was COVERED in mold. I am assuming that since I did not see mold the day before, that my opening up the bag allowed the mold, air to breathe and it popped up over night like crazy. Really, really gross. I looked all over the bag for the expiration date and like usual, it is located on/underneath side of the little plastic clip that holds the bag shut--the date? Expired on the 7th--only 2 days after I bought it and made me sick on the 9th, completely moldy on the 10th.--All in all, the loaf was edible for about one to two days. It shouldn't have even been on the shelf for sale. After the bread-fail, I cut open my not-too-soft TJ mango and noticed a film on the inside--my third failure of mango purchases, with the previous two being brown inside the same or next day of purchasing, in the last month. I am VERY concerned that items are dated so late in the store--I am concerned that produce is not checking the ripe fruit for rot and I am VERY concerned that they are selling bread that is making people sick and salad that is also dated a day away from expiration. I also agree with one of the reviews on the frozen food--not really the same as pictured and I have tried a lot of their frozen items because my diet is so limited...however, I don't think I will be purchasing any dairy or lettuce or bread there anymore and PLEASE be sure and check your dates on all of your food!!!! read more

I can't believe the reviews of this place. Yuppy this and overpriced that or the loser that didn't like how no one asked them if they needed help (if you need help then ask for it cuz I am a hardcore fan of TJ's and I DON'T want to be asked if I need help....I am old enough to know to ask if need it myself). Another reviewer said as much but I would like to reiterate. If you think the store is smaller then a normal Trader Joe's...you are wrong! If you think that Trader Joe's is more expensive.....you are wrong! If you don't like how "your" item is out of stock then do a little bit of research on supply chains and how universal availability costs a lot and lowers quality. If you think that only the wealthy can afford 4 dollar six packs of quality beer or even caviar for $20 then you are a moron. Trader Joe's has a unique supply chain and product development team. They do not do sales/coupons nor do they send out the annoying ads that other grocers do. They are a unique business with unique products and are not some high-class Safeway. I can't help but think that the naysayers here are why grocery markets work the way they do; and that isn't good for anyone! The cantankerous vibe from all the pin head reviewers from Spokane makes me glad I live amongst the trees and nature instead in the city with all of you. Ugh! read more

I can't believe it's taken me up until last year to start shopping here. I've always been hesitant to come here because when you hear organic you see $$$. It wasn't until I read a Buzzfeed article online raving about Trader Joe's and their prices that I finally decided to try this place out. I am now in love with Trader Joe's and am also so mad that I didn't start coming here sooner! This place is amazing!! Prices are incredibly reasonable and I even find things to be cheaper than Fred Meyer, which is where I typically buy my groceries. The store is clean and the staff is always friendly and willing to show me where products are. In the Buzzfeed article, I read that you can ask them to sample anything in the store and they will open it for you to try. However, I haven't got it in me to try something like that. They really need to have more in the area (specifically Spokane Valley) because if they had one near me, I would only buy my groceries here. But till that dream, hopefully, comes true one day, I'll just have to look forward to coming here whenever I'm in the area. read more

Trader Joes is everywhere in the Seattle area so it's good to see them finally arrive in Spokane. I've heard it said that they tend to run out of certain things as they only get a delivery once a week so you may need to be strategic in your shopping excursions here. This store is rather small and like most TJ's you'll be bumping into other shoppers and their carts for sure so this can be a test for some peoples patience. The fresh items like salad & other perishable foods need to be checked out thoroughly before purchasing. That means looking at dates folks. This is not only true of TJ's but also of Costco since there is quite a bit of travel to truck the food in all the way from the Coast and this is to be expected. All-in-all, this is a great place to shop for specialty items and they have good prices on wine & beer too. read more
