Cool grocery store in downtown Spokane. We were staying for a few days in an Air B&B type apartment near by. We needed to stock up on some groceries and beer and seltzers. Mostly beer and seltzers LOL! The Main Market Co-Op was a lot closer, but man! that place was expensive (that's another review). My Fresh Basket had a much better variety and much better pricing. It is just okay. A very overpriced grocery store with just the basics nestled on the edge of SodoSopa. You can't see Kenny's house though. It is exactly what you would expect in a pretentious gentrified area that was built as a "me too" neighborhood. Spokane does like to cosplay as a real city. This has nothing to do with the rating but r/spokane told me that they have harder-to-find produce which is untrue. It is just the basics that you see in every grocery store, except that it is more expensive. The produce, deli, meats, and seafood are about the same quality as Winco - no quality at all. Although this store is not convenient for me, I do try to stop in from time to time for some special treats. They have wonderful desserts that are made in house as well as a deli of sorts. Here you can pick up sandwiches, wraps, panini's, and other things like lasagna. I've never had one of these that I didn't love. They also have other items like a regular grocery store, just on a smaller scale. There is also an emphasis on items that are organic, gluten free, etc. the staff are always friendly and the store itself is kept clean. Pricing is higher than regular box grocery stores, but that is expected for the type of store and location. If you're looking for a special dessert, this is a very good stop. read more

We arrived on a Wednesday, right after the noon hour; and the hot and cold station to buy ready-made food by the pound was not stocked. There are great product offerings, definitely a one stop shop facility. I love this place. I have been here twice now. Since Spokane doesn't have a Whole Foods it is the closest thing to it. ( have to say kinda better because it's not over priced or over commercialized). Tons of fresh produce and different product to explore. The bakery section (personal favorite) has a large selection. From donuts, to croissants, to cakes and, cookies. I have tried their chocolate croissant and m&m donut from that section. The donut was light and airy and just good. The donut didn't weigh you down and left you wanting more. While I haven't tried their hot food section it looks and smells delicious. Just the vast amount of stuff they have and the options is nice. Also the price point is good, where it won't break the bank but you can get good quality ingredients for what you want. When I am down that way it's definitely a place worth stopping. read more

As an ex espresso employee please don't go here!!!! The training for the barista's is awful! the manager has NO coffee experience and request the barista's to steam the milk THREE times & leave old milk in the pitcher which will make it taste burnt and it's also disgusting...They never deep clean the store or the fridges in the espresso stand. The employee turnaround rate is insane we get new people almost every month and have people leaving at the same rate. The espresso stand also doesn't follow health code rules. They are always cutting corners and giving customers poor quality because the store is going into debt which resulted in cutting hours out of nowhere. As well as paychecks not coming in at the correct time. they don't provide drinks or food for any employees. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone shopping let alone working here. read more

One of the most overpriced grocery stores in all of Spokane. What makes it even worse is you have to do self checkout and the customer service is non existing. Most of the employees are standing around doing nothing so I don't understand why they can't do checkout work. Nobody smiles talks to you or asks if anyone needed any help. I always enjoy a trip to My Fresh Basket .. especially for the vegetarian salad options. Their cauliflower cakes are absolutely amazing .. and the selection of stuff from various local bakeries is wonderful. It's not Whole Foods, but I think, they think, it is. The first thing you see when you go in is the produce - it's gorgeou$! The meat and grocery sections are super inviting and lots of nicely displayed food items, too. My husband ordered a mocha and it was fine. Then we had soup - his was smoked broccoli cheddar and mine was brisket chili. Mine was very tasty, his was inedible. It tasted like they dumped the whole bottle of liquid smoke into it. Ugh. No crackers and if we *bought* a mini baguette, we could only get butter by the *pound*. I passed on a salad because it irritated me that they expect you to pay an additional 69 cents for a dressing. MOST places at least have cruets of oil and vinegar... free. Cookies $3.99 each? Upstairs where we ate had nothing in the dispensers. No napkins, plastic tableware, and the water was shut off. Maybe if you live in the Kendall Yards area you appreciate this store but we don't plan on coming back. This place looks high end but there are lots of service things they're missing. read more

Fresh produce and groceries, pretty fun beer selection, great ready to go hot food, awesome deli area as well. One of my favorite things is the poke build your own bar in the back. Overall really great grocery stores although a bit more pricey, get what you pay for for the experience, premium feeling shopping experience, and great selection of foods however. (Think whole foods vibe.) Whenever I'm in the area or have gone somewhere in Kendall yards usually swing by to pick up a thing or two though. I could also see this place serving the needs of North Central folks and even downtown residents who don't mind walking across the Monroe St bridge. There is a good mix of typical groceries items and counters with ready-to-eat items or purchased. The produce seemed relatively close in price to something like a Super 1 (a little lower than Huckleberrie's). The second floor offers seating and some cool views of Kendall Yards! read more

I've been to the store 2 times now and I'm just new to the Spokane area. This is store is very well maintained, very clean and the lighting open and inviting with a small area of fresh flowers available when you enter the the store. Now what was very disappointing is the well overpriced produce and the very small selection of items. The prices are all well displayed and I had to ask for 3 different items that didn't have prices displayed and were sold out. On to the fresh buffet bars. They offer a selection of fresh baked goods, fresh rotisserie chicken and several dishes which again were kinda pricey. The Poke bar was my favorite and I must say I really enjoyed the various selections despite the higher prices they were relative to Reaturant cost. As for the seafood selection it was very well maintained no smell but prices are just ridiculous! They have a small footprint with the rest of the Store and the prices are premium like its a corner store and there are much better options I've seen in the area for the same organic and fresh options such as Yoke. Again has to ask for help with the nut butters, almonds were empty, the hand sanitizer I wanted was sold out so over all I left with a 70.00 bill for less than 10 items. Not impressed ‍ read more

I picked up a poke bowl from the poke bowl bar near the butchers, filling it with some rice and a shit load of delicious raw fish, and other assorted toppings. There were so many ahi tuna and salmon options to choose from, with spicy options, mayo options, and even a salt and pepper that I didn't particularly enjoy but my friend really liked. I picked out pretty much every fish to sample and they were all delicious (sans the salt and pepper). The calamari salad in particular was fire, with ginger flavors that were absolutely amazing. The seaweed salad was pretty standard, the cucumber salad was great, and the edamame was flavored perfectly, I really couldn't get enough. Only drawback- no mango salsa, I really love mango salsa. Also the price when you actually pay for the thing is pretty obscene, I spent a solid $17 on my bowl. The rice took up quite a bit of space and I almost felt bad for getting any but it was also flavored so good that honestly I couldn't really complain. Would for sure come again and get the poke here, though the price of it was a bit terrifying. read more

This store will definitely treat you like crap if you aren't dressed nicely. I was buying wine and she decided to analyze my ID like she was a member of the FBI trying to catch a serial killer. Ma'am I am a 35 year old woman trying to buy 2 bottles of Rose, leave me alone! Summary: I love this place! Parking is never terrible. The produce and products are arranged aesthetically pleasing. The produce all look so beautiful; you could buy a couple just to use as props to paint. They have a coffee bar, a bakery (with a mixture of their goods and some local bakeries), hot bar with a menu that updates daily, salad bar, sandwiches, pasta salads, olive bar and (my personal favorite) a poke bar! I've eaten from the poke bar many times and the sushi has never tasted "old". Not that long ago, I went to the first sushi making class led by Chef Jack. That was also such a wonderful experience! He was a patient instructor, we got handouts and leftovers to takeaway. Icing on the cake of this review: they have a free rewards program you can sign up for. Kendall yards is growing like crazy! My Fresh Basket is just what the area needed. The deli area alone is extremely impressive. There were baked goods, sushi, hot entrees, and a poke bar! The entire store is extremely clean. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for lunch or a coffee. The barista Rhonda who works in the espresso stand inside is amazing! You can tell how knowledgeable the staff is. While looking at the sushi, the chef said he would make me anything I desired if I didn't see anything I liked, great customer service. My Fresh Basket also has plenty of parking and bike parking. The second story outdoor seating has an amazing view of downtown Spokane, and we were also told you can reserve event space here! This grocery store just opened yesterday but I'm seeing great things today! We specifically came over to the Kendall Yards neighborhood to check it out. It is worth a visit! The store is fairly large and based on what I saw with selection and price you could do the bulk of your grocery shopping here. Prices were good in my opinion (eggs for 99 cents, Clif Bars for $1, etc.) The vibes of the store are very cool and I actually saw a fair number of local celebrities here while shopping (Jess Walter, Victor Azar, Ben Fife, etc.) They have a floral section, a Roast House coffee bar, a prepared foods area, an olive bar, a rooftop eating area, a free parking lot, and live lobster. I went on opening day. I was so excited to go because I had been watching the progress for months. First of all, I love the layout of this store. It seems to flow so well even though it's different than traditional grocery store layouts. Upon first entering, you see Riast House brewers and one of the most gorgeous produce sections I have encountered in my life. There are your traditional departments like meats, bakery and produce, and there are added touches in each area. I am a HUGE fan of the Ellenos yogurt bar. I had never tried it before My Fresh Basket, but I can't get enough now. There is also a hot bar in the deli as well as a wonderful salad bar, too. I really appreciated the fact that there was so much seating AWAY from the departments so you could go enjoy your freshly purchased meal and not have to sit practically in a store department to eat it. There is seating on the second floor that overlooks the store as well as on the outdoors balcony and the patio as you walk in. My fresh basket also features an excellent cheese section. Being the cheese fan that I am, I can easily say this is one of the best cheese sections in Spokane. If you are into wine and beer, you will love the bar in the back corner. This is something I have never encountered in a grocery store before and I love its uniqueness. Something I really appreciate about My Fresh Basket is the fact that it's not just organic food or conventional brands. It's a perfect mix of them both with mostly reasonable prices. Some of the items are far overpriced (such as a bag of frozen chicken I can easily get for $4.50 was selling for over $9 here), however most are at competitive prices and some are even lower. With the store being a good mixture, I like how there are no 'special sections' such as organic beauty items here, and conventional brands there. Instead, all brands of deodorants are mixed in. It's like this in every department and section. I love how this 'normalizes' organic food/product choices and allows customers to easily compare price points as well as know exactly where to find something. My only small gripe is how tiny the bulk foods section was. I think bulk foods are the cornerstone to saving money and it was so tiny which left me disappointed. Overall, My Fresh Basket is a store I will be shopping in on a regular basis. I loved the experience. Make sure you get thier app, too. This is an aesthetically-appealing place, but I was very disappointed by how much the prices were inflated. I liked the selection, but I am very in tune with how much similar items cost in various places, and this is definitely more expensive than most of the conventional grocery stores in town. I don't know if it's a location issue or just that they can get away with it, but this is not the kind of place I would want to shop regularly because I know I can get the same things elsewhere for less money. And I am not talking about specialty, unique foods like locally-sourced millpond crawdads, I am talking the exact same bag of Gardein chicken strips that is $3 cheaper at another store. That said, there is a better selection of vegan and vegetarian products than most of the other area stores, so that's a big plus for me. They also have a phenomenal cheese selection, if you're into that sort of thing. It is definitely the best artisan cheese selection I have seen anywhere in Spokane. They do have a rewards program, but you have to register it before you shop, so you won't get any credit for your first purchase. This is a strange business model that isn't particularly customer-friendly. Then again, the cashier that told me about it wasn't particularly customer-friendly either, so maybe it was a miscommunication. I do give them thumbs up for a lot of takeaway food options, including a hot bar and a salad bar. I appreciate the honest attempt at being both a café and a grocery store. The layout, the design, the staff, the produce, the selection, the bakery, the hot deli, the cold deli, the seafood, the sushi bar, should I keep going??? Granted, their prices on standard goods is a little more than most grocery stores, but overall I'd say it balances out. Our first trip here we ended up grabbing snacks, and eating upstairs, which is super cool and trendy. They had snacks to please everyone, which is a rare occasion! They have a top notch ahi poke bar, that they charge a flat "by the pound" rate. It gave me the opportunity to try 9 or 10 varities of ahi that I may not have tried otherwise, because I had the freedom to create my own "sampler" platter. If you need groceries? They have groceries. If you need a snack? They have tons of snacks. If you feel like prime rib, but don't feel like cooking? They have that too... Cooked and cut to order! Maybe a woodfired pizza, or just coffee... They have it all! So now the staff... Their staff are al super friendly, very well educated on what they have to offer, and ready to help you in any way they can. I never thought I'd say a company was overstaffed, but they have plenty of helping hands ready to dive in! This saddens me to make this review but this is the fourth time that my food has been expired that I've bought from the basket. I returned bacon last month that's expired in February. This time it's the bread bites. It's May 17th these bread bites expired in February(they were $8). The meat is super sketchy I bought hamburger meat a few weeks ago and it was already damn brown. Half was not and the other half was brown prior to me cooking it. I really was their number one fan but I've been going there religiously since I moved to Spokane and I'm now finding it's really not that fresh. I'm okay with buying perishables there just for convenience, bakery stuff and coffee but the meat I would not buy here unless it was packaged that day and make sure to ALWAYS check the dates of expiration. read more
