They have everything you need. Awesome selection of veggie pizzas. Great staff, a tall girl with long black hair checked me out today and made good jokes and gave me great suggestions on what I should try. Hope she's there next time because her suggestions were spot on. One negative would be that they are often out of the pesto pizza I love... I also hit my head in the parking lot once. read more

Ughh I usually try to avoid this place, but find myself here a lot because it's the closest grocery store to my apartment. Here are the things I like about this place: -Cashiers are very friendly. I have yet to encounter a rude/disinterested employee -You can't beat the frozen foods at TJ's! -Decent prices. -Best bagels I have found on the West Coast. The sesame seed ones are yum. Here are the things I don't like about this place: -CROWDED. No matter when you go, this place is insanely crowded. It's difficult to even walk through the store, and to be honest, I think the layout of the store actually makes things worse. This is the number one reason why I avoid coming here! -There's always someone standing near the door performing/asking for money/trying to talk to you. It's kind of annoying. -For some reason i always end up buying things I don't need. I don't know what it is about TJ's, but I usually leave with a bunch of random junkfood/candy/snacks that looked delicious in the store. This only happens at TJ's lol. -Sometimes their products aren't as good as the name-brand version and you have no choice but to get their brand :( -Unlike supermarkets, they don't have a wide variety of personal care/toiletry items (though they have some), so if you need that stuff you have to go elsewhere anyway. read more

Your typical Trader Joe's, but that's a good thing. Lovin' that 2 buc Chuck. Lots of easy dinner options in the frozen section, and easy pairings to make a great meal, most of them quite healthy. If you have a sweet tooth, look above the frozen foods for lots of dessert options. Great prices on produce, decent vegetarian selection, and check out lines shouldn't be too long of a wait. Every Trader Joe's I've been to has to potential to be extremely busy, so if that bothers you, visit during off-peak times. Don't pay for street parking-there's a garage here. read more

Trader Joe's is the IKEA of food. The overcrowding could be easily solved, if they just opened up, like, 5 more locations. EVERYONE loves this place. in the three years i have been going there, it has gotten more and more crowded. I love the shampoo that is as good as $10-$14 shampoo in other stores, and here it's $2!!! i love the free coffee, the great samples, and the fine cheeses and frozen selection. I would give it 6 stars, if i could, but then i would take away one, because once a few years back i bought a can of soup there that made me so sick i thought i would die (it had a funny shape-they have since stopped making it!) So i guess it works out they only get 5 stars. read more

I know a lot of people have reviewed Trader Joe's but I just couldn't help it. Where else can you go for healthy, organic and affordable food? I go there to buy my seafood mix to make my jambalaya. My husband goes there for the wine and soy milk. And of course a whole lot of random things that can go into the basket (or cart) because hey, they're good, and I love to explore new ingredients when it comes to my cooking. The best part for moi is, I can actually buy the healthiest chips ever! My husband is a big health buff. So we always have to compromise when it comes to my chip cravings. So when we went their last week, what did I pick up? Trader Joe's Soy Crips! You're thinking, uh ok, that doesn't sound good. Soy chips?!?!?! Are you crazy? Oh no. I was a bit hesitant of course, but hey, I get to have my chips fix. That's good enough. So I open the bag, and I smell the wonderful barbq flavor emanating from the soy crips. Hmmm.. that's good. And I took a chip and put it in my mouth. Oh my gosh!!!! It was sooo good. I was surprised! Something sooo good and so healthy.. and they're chips! It's got 2grams of fat! And that's it! And you get your 6.something % of protein too! Ah lovely Joe! :D I will come back for sure! read more

I usually buy select items at TJ when it comes to groceries simply due to price. They have a great selection of chocolate, cheeses, beer, and other snacks. I recently found out that they make and sell their own liquor! Since WA increased liquor tax and added addition volume tax, I usually stay clear. But how could I when TJ Kentucky Bourbon that was priced at $15! (W/ tax came out to $18). My only complaint about TJ is their produce. They price it per item rather than per pound. Makes for some confusion for 1st timers. read more

Great Trader Joe's! I always love this place and there are so many yummy foods, snacks, and even plants. The items here are usually organic or "healthier" than what you find at other grocery stores. The groceries are fresh as well. Tons of variety of cheeses, beers, and snacks. The people here are willing to help and there is a lot of things to buy here. There are also samples for you to try new items :) read more

Well I brought the packaging along with the fragment I found and they acted "sorry" and pretty much blew me off. Lately the morale at this location has been tanking. The register people seem upset with their situation. They say things like, " I wouldn't wish this job on anyone" etc. I'll think twice before I continue going here. I really only go there for the Kosher meat and the Edamame anyway read more

I am amazed at the selection and prices here considering the size. I usually end up spending a bit less here than at the safeway a couple of blocks away which is amazing considering that most of the food here is either organic, gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan. I am a huge fan of their marinated meats and salads, but pretty much everything here is good. The people who work here are also super friendly and helpful. One downside would be that it's usually really cramped, so you'll probably bump into a lot of people while shopping. Also, there's usually one or two ingredients that I find myself needing that they don't carry at all, so then I'm forced to go to safeway anyway. read more

They were rude to me in the morning. Apparently they open at 8 and we're instructing me where to stand like if I was getting in line for an iPhone. I ended getting a subway from across the street. Not worth messing up my commute if they have this bad of a service read more

I adore co-ops! Wish we had more of them around. More choices for organic, hormone and antibiotics free products. Honey Greek yogurt is like a little slice of heaven. A very nice selection of wines at great prices. How can you miss the Three Buck Chuck??? I was waiting for CS to come out with something resembling a pinot noir and Viola! I got the CS Nouveau, after getting my first case and going through it in a less then 2 week, I went back for another case, only to discover a tragedy...the wine was sold out for the season. I will plan much better next year. The Australian Chardonnay is also a great alternative to the crappy CA Chardonnays I don't like. TJ's is also a cheese lovers heaven! Keep on rockin' guys! read more

I have grocery envy. I adore Trader Joe's and imagine my life if there was one near me in Spokaloo. Trader Joe's loses a star for being a grocery tease. Rumor was we were getting one in Spokane, WA.. I work in media and it even went so far that I worked on a proposal for it. TEASE. It never happened. The rumors died down and now I'm back to picking up items that travel well while in Seattle. Affordable organic does exist and the TJ salsa is gift worthy for me. read more

I adore you, TJ's. What with your ridiculously low priced fruits and veggies, gargantuan amounts of sweets and savories, tons of microwavable meals and snacks, double cheaps wines and beers, and deliciously delicious cheeses and wraps! Ugh. I always go in thinking that I'll spend a few bucks here and there to fill a few holes in my kitchen cabinet, but I end up using up my rent check on whole grain pita chips, edamame hummus, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, ultra-ripened avacados, and tamales!! Honestly, if I look back at our relationship, TJ, I think you're hustling me! How is that I buy so much but it only lasts a week?? Granted, yes, it's not "normal" for a person to eat seven to eight TJ provided meals a day, but they taste good! Your fault! Okay, enough blamesharing. You're the best, TJ. I appreciate you. I just hope you're there for me when I end up using up my 401k on your tasty dark chocolate covered pretzels... read more

Parking in this lot is usually awful, just because of the narrowness of the spots and the incompetence of the drivers, so I'm glad this is within reasonable walking distance of my house. Plus when I walk I don't overdo it and buy too much to carry except for that last time when I had to take the bus. Oops. The prices here are great! I found my favorite type of high end muffins (usually get them at Whole Foods) under the TJs name for 1.50 less! I'm addicted to their pre-made egg white salad and pita chips. They have a lot of what I consider convenience food (frozen meatballs, pizza, etc) at very reasonable prices. They would get 5 stars except that their produce section is hit or miss and one generally has to buy in pre-packaged amounts. Considering the quality I consistently find here and the low prices, this is my favorite place to shop for groceries. read more

Can you please make it a larger space? that is my only complaint. I finally discovered this place about 3 years ago but only now am realizing the genius behind the single/double servings of veggies (as I'm trying to eat more 'healthy'). and steamed broccoli from a plastic bag in the microwave for 3 min? genius. Trader Joe's - Grocery Near Me - Seattle, Washington

See all

Oh, Trader Joe's. You're there for me most of the time when I need my less expensive fix of all sorts of frozen and fresh treats. General Trader Joe's: The selection is unsurpassed for shopping for almost everything under one roof. The stores in California have prices that are significantly less than those in other states. Yes, I understand that this is because of the distance that the items need to travel up here. This Trader Joe's: Most of the time it's packed to the brim with yuppies and/or UW students. Nearly anxiety inducing, I'm pushed around like a sardine no matter what time of day or night. ***Watch the dates on all of the perishables here, as it really toes the line into that not so fresh feeling, the one that borders on expiration within 2 days. I've had to toss way too many items from this TJ's. Booooo.*** Also, I really dislike the large amount of solicitors outside. Whether it's for Real Change, people groveling for their real beer and drug fund, ballot initiatives, warped violin playing that should be rewarded with at LEAST $1, etc., I want to be LEFT ALONE when I walk in and out of here. Ugh. The customer service that I've experienced at this store has been good for the most part. I am efficiently moved through the check out line, which is a plus. read more

Yes the parking is a mess, but only during rush hours. Why are you driving during rush hour anyway? Come here after 8pm and avoid the crowds. One down side though: if you come here late they might run out of the items you want. Shopping here always makes me feel good, and I'll tell you why: 1. The food samples. You never know what they'll have, but it's usually good, and there's free coffee. 2. The employees there are helpful and nice and like to chat with you. They usually say things like "oh I love this item" or "have you tried this other thing? It's so good!" and genuinely make you feel welcome. And they don't judge you if you just buy ice cream and wine. 3. I like the Flyer, and the product highlights, and the little description tags on some items. When I'm here, I try to buy items that I haven't had before, instead of just getting things off a list. 4. The people who shop there are younger (a lot of UW students). 5. The food selection is interesting. It's great to get convenient microwave meals that are better than Stouffers. The dessert and candy selection is great. Fruits, nuts, oatmeals, salads, and other healthy options abound. They may not have everything I need, but I end up filling my fridge with stuff every trip. Their fresh produce isn't as good as Whole Foods' though. I love TJs. read more

In my expert opinion, TJ's gets 3 stars by default for it's low prices and quality. However, crumby parking and overcrowding keeps this location at 3 stars. Until Ballard location opens, I suggest Madison St. or Burien (if you're down that way) location. Parking isn't bad and they're not as crowded as QA or U.Dist. read more

I love the snacks here. You can find everything at a reasonable price! My opinion is similar to that of other reviewers, but I just wanted to say thank you to a very particular employee at this location. During checkout, he had forgotten to put an avocado I had purchased into my shopping bag. Since I was in a hurry to get back to work, I was speedwalking about a block and a half away from the store when he ran up and tapped me on the shoulder. He had run after me to give me the avocado. They really go out of their way for customer service! Every employee is chipper and conversational and, once again, the snacks are fantastic. If you love popcorn, you should grab a bag of their "herbs and spices popcorn" at least once. I mean, that one time will turn into many times thereafter, but you have to get your foot in the door first! read more

I really really really really REALLY wish that Trader Joe's has a larger selection of fresh produce and meats than it does. I do love going there for the "other stuff" - ready-made, pop-in-the-microwave food, cold cuts, cheeses, dried foods (Ie. Crackers, cookies, etc.), occasional bottle of wine. Their prices are always lower than other supermarkets, and the quality just as good. Also have to give a shout out to the great cashiers at TJ's. The U district TJ must be one of the busier (albeit smaller) stores in the chain. At any given time, there would be quite a few people in line, but the cashiers usually courteous and chatty. Of course you don't get a "wine steward" or the type of service at the QFC, where there always seems to be someone available to help. But for the price and the quality, that's just fine with me. read more

Pro tip: Kind of crowded on Sundays, so get your grocery shopping done on some other day if you dislike waiting in lines. What I liked: - has parking - great produce; almost always fresh because they have many many customers. What could be improved: - i prefer not having to many homeless people blocking the entrance read more

Although I don't get down here often enough, I do love this store. Their frozen entrees are quick to cook, but don't make me feel entirely unhealthy. Their juices are excellent, and I'm a fan of the samples they offer. My complaint is with their pricing system. I often have trouble finding the price of a certain item due to the lackadaisical system, and as a student, I need to watch my shopping budget. Sometimes the clerks can't even help me find the correct label. read more

I love this store! The company is great and has a lot of different items that other stores don't have. On that same note, they don't have a lot of items that other stores have. Trader Joe's is a different kind of store. No, they DO NOT sell batteries, they DO NOT sell light bulbs, and no they DO NOT sell extension cords - it's a G.R.O.C.E.R.Y. store. It does sell awesome vegan food, a plethora of "different" dried fruit, and has awesome prices. I don't know how many times I have heard people say "it's awfully busy in here." Hello! It's always busy. And if it's not busy then that means there's no items on the shelf because it's 2 minutes before closing time. The best time to go to Trader Joe's is on Saturday mornings - the store is completely stocked, the employees are generously caffeinated, and it's not that busy. read more

I resisted going to Trader Joes for the longest time because I assumed it was pricey, much like PCC or whole foods. When I finally went, I was quite satisfied by the affordability of the food. They have a wide selection of goods. I could get a weeks worth of groceries for about the same price as I would at safeway (and definitely cheaper than QFC!) and the quality of the food is much better! true, it does get crowded in there on weekends, but so does any store on the weekend. My suggestion? Get a basket instead of a cart and know what you're going there for (they have a book that goes out regularly of the foods they will stock and have on sale). I always seem to be in and out and happy with my purchase. read more

I lovee to shop at Trader Joe for their good quality foods with reasonably prices. They offer big varieties of choices with their own labels. Good merchandising! The staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean and organized store. Not a huge store, but that's what I like, easy to shop! Such as the lunch today, three of us had shared a dish of Breaded Eggplant Cutlet , 16 oz ($2.49), Mushroom Ravioli with Mushroom truffle Sauce ( 1 lb, imported from Italy $3.49), and a loaf of artisan Olive bread ($3.99). Quick and easy: Only microwave them for a few minutes. Averaged only $3.32 each person. Good food, relax and enjoy them in your own sweet home, award yourself with a good tip. How about that! I bought many others like almond milk, almond butter, frozen veggie, soup, and good snacks to enjoy later as well. Oh, they offer free samplings of coffee and snacks - what a treat! read more

Like most other reviewers here, my review is not for the Trader Joe's chain as a whole (which I think is definitely 5 star), but for this particular store. Almost everything here is great - helpful and very friendly customer service, great samples every day, large variety of breads, produce, frozen Indian food and nuts. But I am deducting two stars because way more than often I find mold on strawberries and blackberries bought from here. The mold itself is not the problem, what's bad is this occurs consistently, and it's hard as a customer to spot that because it's usually in the second layer of the fruit. I get home with my $4 worth of fruit, and half of it is bad. I can't walk all the way back, nor do I usually have the time in the morning to pop in here to return the stuff and get my money back. I've lost a lot of money because of this. On the occasions that I do have the energy to come back with the damaged goods, the manager always gives me money back and tells me that their stuff gets moldy because they don't use preservatives (or something like that). I appreciate the honesty and the friendliness, but I strongly urge the Trader Joe's produce team to regularly check their produce on sale (since they already know this is an issue). This is a major inconvenience in terms of both time and money. read more

We stopped in here with our handy wine bag to buy some bottles for a wine party and for our own private stores (doesn't that sound classy? it's a shed. in the garage). Anyhoo, we walked away with: *Cotes du Rhone ($6 of awesome) *The Mutts Nuts (Um..it's a Shiraz from Oz and we love stuff from there, plus I couldn't resist the hand written note and how it's only available at TJ's) *Josefina Syrah Rose (I like Syrah, I like Rose, I also like stuff from Paso Robles ) *Panilonco from Chile (it's got a lion on the label) Food-wise: *Meatless meatballs *Sweet potato fries *2 bags of Pirate's Booty *Lemon pasta *Pesto *No salt added canned tomatoes The trip was totally worth it and for once their crappy garage was relatively unoccupied so we were able to park downstairs. We used to park on the upper level but then noticed that they said their parking privileges did not extend to the upper level. (-1 star for parking inconvenience) In sum, buy the Cotes du Rhone if you ever see it. It's an easy to enjoy bottle! read more

This is by no means a massive supermarket, but that's why I like it. Quality food at decent prices, and the staff is really, really friendly. On-street parking directly in front of the building has never been a problem for me here, perhaps because it's so close to the university that most people walk to shop instead of driving. Best prices in town on soy milk, if you're into such things. Try their store brand (on the shelf, not in the refrigerated section), which comes in a variety of flavours -- including coffee and strawberry! TJ's also offers a good selection of other organic foods, vegetarian and otherwise. read more

I do about 75% of my shopping here. It has ALMOST everything I need. Why do they get me hooked on something, only to discontinue it at the least convenient time? Yeah, it's crowded. That's b/c it's awesome. You can get twice as much food than at Whole Foods. read more

This Trader Joe's has to put up with a lot because it is often so busy due to the fact that it is a few blocks from UW and full of people at all hours. (In fact, I would avoid this place on Sundays, unless you are entirely wiped of all food and would therefore have nothing at all to eat for breakfast on Monday morning.) For the most part, the staff is knowledgeable about products and always pleasant with which to converse. Never have I had bad luck with the produce, but I also am very picky while selecting it--therefore, like any grocery store, you might want to check the fruit and veggies that are sitting out, not already in bags. Finally, on a recent note, on 1/20/2017--which was a rough day for many--they handed out free boxes of tea. I am not sure if they just happened to have extras or if they knew the day was tense for many, but I thought it was very kind. Thank you! It's small things that pull us through. read more

I'm in love with Trader Joe's. Seriously. Here's what I love: -Dark Chocolate Covered Edamame -Soycutash frozen veggie mix -frozen Calabacita and Cheese Quesadillas -TJ brand Lowfat Granola with Almonds -cheap (and good!) wine -cheap beer -big selection of CHEESES (one of my faves: organic monterey jack) -cheap fresh bagged spinach/lettuce/greens -cheap frozen fruit -cheap canned soups -good, cheap olive oils -cheaper than most places: organic milk, soymilk, yogurt, eggs, flowers, bread, cereal I could go on, but I'll stop cuz I think we all get the point. This place rocks! I agree with the crowds/skinny aisles. I try not to go right after 5pm anymore, it's a nightmare. I've never had a problem with parking, either on the street right in front or in the garage. read more

I have some comments specifically about this TJ's, and also TJ's products in general (I've only occasionally been to stores other than this one.) I have very mixed feelings about this Trader Joe's. Positives: I love their food, and the affordability of many of their items. I love the cheese section!!! They also have a good wine and beer selection, and many of their frozen products are great. Negatives: I don't like how inconsistent their items and selection can be. One day they'll have a shelf full of an item and the next day it will be GONE, without even a space on the shelf for it. The store near me kept rearranging everything, which was frustrating because I was finally getting used to where things were. I also don't like how items will be discontinued suddenly and disappear without a trace, never to return (this has happened to some of my favorite items.) Produce can also be hit or miss, and I hate how most of it is encased in plastic boxes or trays with plastic wrap. Not only is it wasteful packaging, I like to handle the produce, turn it to make sure there are no bad spots, etc, and it can be hard to do that. Bread products go moldy REALLY fast. I've also been disappointed with the body products I've tried. Their shampoo and conditioner made my hair dry, stringy and knotted. Their deodorant was weak and didn't do the job. Currently, I've had my heart broken by their sunscreen, which I've been using for the past couple weeks. It's SO greasy, and the oil just sits on my skin for HOURS. It feels gross, especially when combined with sweat from biking, and it makes me break out. Also, even though I store the tube vertically, a lot of the oil has separated from the lotion-consistency stuff, leaving a big pool of olive oil-consistency grease around the lid, and it leaks. I tried shaking it, but it's hard to properly mix a tube, and it just makes a mess. I'm about ready to give up and throw it away, even though I try to get through products. I shopped here a lot more frequently when I lived only a few blocks away. Now that I'm in a different neighborhood it's rarely worth the trip. read more

It's Trader Joe's! It's on the UW campus which makes the parking pretty crazy. The hard part is just getting into and out of the parking lot. On the bright side, they have free parking while you are grocery shopping. If they didn't, I was just going to drive to Ballard so I found the parking scenario deserving of an extra star. Trader Joe's has everything and for how busy it is, everyone was chipper and eager to help. I really commend a nationwide chain like this for keeping the culture alive throughout their locations. I would not have known if I was in a Trader Joe's in my home state of Minnesota, or if I was in Washington, or any place else. Kudos to that! p.s. I always discover a new favorite frozen item when I go to Trader Joe's...this time it was the Kahti Rolls...like a vegetarian Indian hot pocket, BUT BETTER!!!! I highly recommend it. read more

I love Trader Joe's because the checkout staff always asks how you're doing and actually attempt to have a conversation with you. This isn't one of the biggest stores, but the location is awesome for those of us who live near campus. For anyone who may drive here, it might be a bit of a nightmare because of the cramped parking lot. Selection is limited since it isn't a very large store, but they carry the basics. They have a decent selection of cheeses, some great deals on greens, and some good wines. It's also a great stop for sweets (which I try to avoid), snacks, and frozen 'emergency' meals for those nights you can't cook. The produce selection is both limited and not the best quality. TJ's tends to prepackage a lot of things so you 1) don't have a choice as to how much you get 2) can't tell if it's all fresh. Although some of it is a good deal, I've noticed there have been molding/rotting vegetables in the bunch - especially things like tomatoes. Boo. The staff is super friendly and it's nice shopping there. Overall a good shop! I've been eating healthier ever since shopping here more often and getting off my butt to cook for myself! Stars off for the cramped parking, rotting produce, and limited selection. read more

I love trader joe's. Fresh organic produce and lots of other healthy organic food options. Some things I always get at trader joe's are their almond butter, mochie, and 2 buck chuck. 2 buck chuck is the best wine that you can get at that price. Although not amazing wine, it does the job for those of us who like to drink wine but also live on a budget. They also have a pretty good sized micro brew selection, including my local favorite Fremont Brewery. Being in the U-district, this trader joe's has a lot of parking, even though the garage can be a little difficult to navigate at times. read more

I love 95% of Trader Joe's stuff.... But I have found that their produce is not always the freshest. However, their hummus is some of the best stuff on earth. Better than Sabra, if you ask me. Pair that with some of their amazing pretzel chips and you have yourself heaven on earth. They would get 5 stars from me if it weren't for their parking garage. When the SPD has to direct traffic in your garage - you have a problem. You cannot park in that garage without a near-miss or actual fender-bender. They really need to do something about it and soon! read more
