Smaller Trader Joe's with heavy foot traffic. Staff is helpful and always walking around every aisle if you have a question. However since it gets busy there are chances things will be sold out or you're not finding everything you had on your list. Parking is easy and free to navigate in the garage however it gets busy and the spots are superrr tight so not the most family friendly or handicap accessible parking spaces. Easier store to get to by nearby bus stop or walking. Always one security in front of the store and panhandlers. The security and the store allow the panhandlers to block the entrance or stand in front for hours so this is a norm at this location. My favorite products to get at any location of Trader Joe's are the 2 pack Oatmeal and Honey Bar Soap, the Organic Coconut Smoothie, Guacasalsa, Organic Dried Mango Unsulfured & Unsweetened and the Lemony Arugula Basil Salad Kit. read more

This TJ happened to be the closest one to my AirBnB, so we rolled up to pick up some breakfast supplies and road trip snacks. They have a great wine selection and I was finally able to find my Petals sparkling elderflower wine that I wasn't able to back home! The staff was extremely helpful in assisting us with our shopping list and even directed us to where they kept the cases of water. The store was fairly spacious but still had a ton of foot traffic when we visited on a weeknight. PS- Come after 6pm when street parking is free! read more

This is more like Baby Joes. Noticeably smaller and carries less items. Definitely convenient and obviously catering to students of the U-District. The same things you know and love about Trader Joes is here, friendly check person and their main products of canned goods and the Frozen section looks all there, but there is less alcohol and some of the fresh pastas I like I couldn't find. Maybe they were out? If that's the case, I'd assume they stock less of it. Outside the smaller size, the convenience of this Trader Joe's can't be beat. Very walkable from my place or just 4 stops by bus. Parking is available but wouldn't suggest it. Any given Trader Joes is crowded as is, this one is no exception so unless you luck out consider that before coming. read more

This Trader Joe's location is conveniently a 20 minute walk from me and located in the U-District, which comes in handy when I don't want to deal with their less-than-ideal parking situation. The garage is tiny, the spots are small, and no one really parks in between the lines. The store itself is on the smaller side and I've noticed they don't carry all the items that other stores have and they have low stock on conventionally popular items. It gets crowded so the best time to come here is right when it opens, preferably a weekday. The rating is for the location (parking situation + smaller store) more than anything else. Other than that it's a standard TJ's and I'm especially a fan of their frozen meals which are great when I don't have time to cook from scratch. This location works in a pinch but when I have the time I prefer going to the larger Shoreline location for a more pleasant shopping experience. read more

Well!!! I have been here once or twice before pandemic. But several times now in pandemic. Something about grocery in pandemic! I usually don't know what to get here since I didn't know what the prices should be. But thanks to pandemic! And many grocery runs! Now I know the prices for most things like veggies, salads etc. And now I get why TJs are popular. Even their hand lotion is cheap compared to other spots! What!! I usually come here for snacks. Chocolates, mini biscottis, chocolate covered fruits ( almonds, raisins, blue berries). They are perfect sizes and at perfect prices. Most are $3.99-$4.99 each. Bags of salads are $1.99! It's great for a day use. Even if you use half, it's worth it. The greens mix with dill is my favorite. They also have fresh juices: albeit much smaller than the juice stores. And almost the same prices as pressed juice. I skip those and get them at pressed. They do have one coconut smoothie thing. It's delicious!! $2.99! Super cheap. Super small. And super perfect. I have also done panic buys here in March. Mainly those ready made meals. Most are $4.99-$7.99. Not a big fan of most to be honest. But I can see the appeal: convenient and cheaper than take out. The soup dumplings were pretty good. It's a pack of 6: steam and eat! The rest are a ok! They have their own parking lot, usually chaotic. Lines are long but moves fast. If you like something, stalk up! They tend to stop carrying the same thing over ( mostly production issues, or materials delay). I like coming here for snacks/ non meals items. read more

We love the variety, the novelty, and the delicious options that are found in Trader Joe's stores across the city, and especially enjoy the new things we discover through the samples available at every one of them. This is an extremely busy location with long lines almost every time you come in. If you're fine with that, they have some pretty good stuff at good prices. I generally go there for the frozen food, milk, rice drink (mmmm), cooking sauces, frozen and unfrozen meat, microwaveable fast food (like the 2-min thai boxes - the peanut one), cheese, etc. I also love their dried fruit (especially the hibiscus flower) and trail mix packs! The produce depends. I've seen both good and bad here. The berries are wonderful when in season, but in recent months I've been running into boxes of fuzzy raspberries (gross). The item that I recently fell in love with is the package filled with little baggies of peeled garlic. It's made my life just that much easier. They frequently have something tasty at the sample desk. One time they introduced me to sun dried tomato spread (for sandwiches) and I've bought it several times since. I have barely started trying the wine and beer, but they have a lot of variety. A lot of the wine (not sure about beer) is only carried by Trader Joe's and a lot of it is sorted by country of origin, which is something I find useful. read more

I'd love NOT to positively review this grocery store, b/c it's frigging crowded ENUF! But the staff here are great and super helpful. They are super productive and both team & customer oriented. This store is consistently clean despite the incredible traffic. I have never shopped anywhere where you can announce " oh crap! I forgot____!" and they will actually send someone to run for it while you finish your cash back request on the card reader. In debating w myself why i'm deducting a star, I admit it's most likely due to the faults I find w the chain overall: keeping stocked has always been a problem (and I guess a testament to their popularity) , the way their layout causes ppl to bump into eachother, the always difficult parking entrances (every store), that they've recently retired or pulled your fave items as "seasonal", the fact they sell farmed fish (which is morally & environmentally reprehensible), and the irritation from the many hour changes i've endured from them over the years I've supported them. Especially aggravating when you work nights and already killed an hour you cd be asleep to arrive and be told "sorrrrrry, come back in another hour..." even tho you called to verify the opening time the evening before. Yes i'm petty. I'd give them 4.5 if Yelp allowed it. And they are still my neighborhood grocery that carries certain things you can ONLY get from Traders. The fact that your brain just named those triple ginger cookies, or your fave sauces, salsas, humus, frozen dinners, or snacks says the chain is your neighborhood grocery too. And the workers are probably gr8 everywhere, but I appreciate this location for the many things they do right. read more

My kind of store and a bonus it's located near the University! I have been trying to live the active and healthy lifestyle and this place always offer various items that I can use in recipes and substitute for a leaner and cleaner meal. And of course they have my favorite the 100% dark chocolate bar. Yes! I do like to eat that even if it is on the bitter side. There are many other items that I like including the teas, cookies and other neat prepared items. Yeah the groceries are good and the prices are great and offering boxes to carry your stuff is a great option - especially when stocking up on booze. But I'm not here to talk about anything as pedestrian as JoeJoes or Two Buck Chuck. I'm here to talk about parking at Trader Joes in the U-District. AKA, The Chaos Vortex. I first tried to park here in 2011, and I remember distinctly that a lady was trying to reverse out of a spot in a Camry, while a drunk contractor in a Ford F250 came around the wrong way and tried to nose into a parking spot diagonally. Then a guy in a dank Trix-themed hooptie was trying to back into a spot for no reason, while an Uber driver argued with a rambunctious elderly passenger that they were not the car she ordered and he doesn't care if she gives him one star. And of course, it's not stopping. Because somebody just came DOWN the ramp to get into the Joe's parking from upstairs. A homeless guy (not the pleasant panhandler who sits next to the basil) has dropped trou and is having a BM right in front of the handicapped spot. A long back up has extended into Roosevelt up to 50th because a Bike Messenger is fighting with a skateboarder for going the wrong way up the bike sharrow. So I can't back out either. That was 2011. And eventually, I am certain this logjam is going to clear up and I will be able to park. read more

My favorite grocery brand of all time! This place is only one block away from my apartment and it's where I have most of my groceries. I was really suspicious about TJ initially as everything about organic sounds expansive to me. However it's not the case for Trader Joe's. I think most of the items they sell are the cheapest compared to other grocery stores nearby. It's hard to find any item that I don't like. From milk product to fruits and veggies, to frozen food, cheese, meat and snacks. You name it and I would probably say something good about it. It's possible just because I haven't tried even half of their product yet, but I'm good with what I usually get. I also absolutely love their sampler bar. I think it's a great idea for customers to try the products as people often will not take the risk of buying something new if they are not sure about the taste. The staff are all super friendly and paying attention to what new items they have is literally becoming one of my biggest hobby. Is it legal yet for a person to get married to a business establishment? If and when it does, someone PM me because Trader Joe's is the first with which I would want to be in a matrimony. I am endlessly appreciative of their quality, as well as the fact that shopping there doesn't put a crater in my wallet. When life is looking dim and I don't feel like walking a mile to shop at the worst Safeway location in Washington state, Trader Joe's is always there for me. It feeds me at my time of need and fills all of my cabinets, refrigerator, freezer, and drawers with nicely packaged produce and goods. It nourishes me with their delicately portioned bags of Brussels sprouts, artichokes, and avocados. Their dried fruits and mixed nuts selection are all you will find in my snack cabinets. Any condiments that are in my refrigerator like their balsamic vinegar, ketchup, and ground mustard are all from here. In general, Trader Joe's is highly friendly for people on diets. Assuming that you're on a "whole foods" kind of diet that is filled with only fruits, vegetables, and meats, you may not want to venture too far into the frozen aisle. That's where all of the good things you shouldn't eat are, strangely. Is anyone else as addicted as I am to their lemon crisp cookies, dark chocolate pretzels, and dark chocolate mango-coconut bites? It's like I am bathing in a fantasy world of dark chocolate. Because of their nicely priced selection, I don't feel guilty purchasing new things. If I end up not being too crazy about it, it's not a big deal because there is usually not that much product and it was not that pricey. The only thing that bugs me about Trader Joe's is their obsession with "non-fat" or "low-fat" products. I am an advocate of whole foods, which includes fats and all. So, that means their whole yogurt section is somewhere I do not bother looking at. I have been looking for a place locally that sells Fage brand of greek yogurt, and they have Fage here, but they only sell the 0% and 2% fat. Annoying, but I can get over it. As well, this location gets so much business, they often run out of stock on the things you probably want the most. Try to get here earlier to do your shopping; otherwise, you may have a bad time. Like walking to Safeway right down the road. I cringe at the thought. read more

The parking lot is small with tight spaces, but I usually come at the grocery witching hour (5-7 PM) and have always found a spot. I usually prefer the Ballard TJ-- it is just so much bigger and easier to navigate when crowded, but since this one is closer to home I ended up defaulting back here, especially when I was without a car. There always seems to be tons of employees around, which make for short wait times and ease of finding items. Unfortunately, for some reason they seem to constantly be having some employees stock. Is this necessary during the day, and especially during grocery witching hour? Despite starting with all complaints, TJ has what you need for cheap. I like that they always have a sample going, and it is usually something totally nuts. I've seen tater tots with sauce, beans and franks, pasta... Leave it to TJ to suggest weird mash ups of their products. read more

Everybody has their favorite TJ's items. I have my staples too. For my money, there is nothing better for a Sunday morning petite breakfast (if I don't want to get out of the slippers) than TJs buttery croissants. You'll find these in the frozen section, where they sell mini butter croissants, chocolate croissants and almond croissants. Short of a trip to a great Seattle bakery (like Cafe Besalu) this is the closest a home chef (especially a sane one who doesn't attempt to make croissant at home) can come to a fantastic fresh made buttery croissant. You'll have to plan a little ahead, since they have to be placed on a baking sheet the night before to allow the yeast to rise up to be ready for baking first thing in the morning. They far surpass any pasty, bready Costco, Starbucks or other premade croissant that you are going to put your paws on. Hands down. These are at their absolute best when eaten right out of the oven. (They unfortunately lose their magic if eaten later in the day.) We love to stock plenty of the butter croissants in our freezer along with raspberry Freezerves (can find these at Whole Foods in the frozen section or order on Amazon Fresh) freezer jam. Along with some fresh squeezed OJ and french press, you are on a whole other level of breakfast happiness in your own, humble home. read more

I just admire how they care about their customers and always want to serve the best. I've noticed that every time I purchase eggs, the cashier's will always check to make sure they're not broken or tainted, and if they are, they simply will ask for a new one for you. The U-District Trader Joe's is a particularly busy location of this chain store. It draws in college students and residents in neighboring areas alike. Generally, I like all Trader Joe's that I have been to. Though scores fluctuate depending on the location. This location is for the most part pretty well kept. Despite it being heavily trafficked, it does not look unkempt. The store does have a parking lot in which you enter on Roosevelt Way NE. Just know if you have never been here before that Roosevelt Way is an one way street. You need to go a little past the store entrance to enter the parking lot. If you do use the parking lot, know that Trader Joe's parking is provided on the LOWER floor only. Spaces are small and the parking lot does get congested, so be patient. At least they made the parking lot move in an one way direction to ease the congestion issue. I am pretty sure most people on Yelp are aware of what Trader Joe's offers so I won't go into detail about it. Though I will say that I am a fan of their frozen foods and snacks. TJ's is also the place to buy packaged nuts when my parents are in town and needing to bring home omiyage (souvenir gifts). I don't frequent the U-District location very much since there are numerous better locations on the Eastside. But if you are in Seattle, this location is okay. Though the parking situation and large crowds can be bothersome. If they are, you may want to try the Ballard store instead. read more

This is probably one of the smallest Trader Joe's I've been to. I don't know whether it was the time I was there (7 p.m.) but there were so many people inside and I had to wait in line to get the lettuce and blueberries. Going down the frozen food section, I felt like I was playing bumper cars. There were so many people and the aisles were so narrow that you really have to maneuver to make sure you don't hit anyone or anything while passing by. They still had the great variety of foods that you normally find at Trader's. One complaint though, the egg salad that I bought was already expired. What the heck, don't sell expired food on the shelves. When I opened it up, the eggs had already soured. I was mildly disappointed with this because Trader's normally has really good quality food items. Finally, the customer service was excellent. The person who rang me up was really nice. She made the extra to make small talk with me and I thought it was a very pleasant conversation that we had. Normally, I usually have a great customer service experience so I'm not surprised that I enjoyed my time here. read more

I've been trying to eat healthy since my office orders take out often and stocked with a lot of junk food. It doesn't help that our cafeteria is on the pricey side but I am so glad this TJ is on my way to work. I love their ready to eat salads that cost under $4, especially the kale and edamame salad. I love seeing what Trader Joe's has in their rotating selection on a regular basis, trying new things and picking up some of their unique snacks and sweets. The thing that makes this my personal favorite location is the team that works there. They're friendly, polite and happy to help. This location is a little smaller than some others, given its city location, and you should come prepared to navigate a slightly dicey parking situation (free parking, but a lot of litter, the spots are *really* close together and the angles are a little weird on the main floor). Compared to some other local locations (even much larger ones), it has a great selection and is a great pick for a quick grocery run. read more
