Most food is rotten on the shelf, and if you can't see the mold, it's likely inside the food when you get it open at home. Often freezers seem to be off and the food starts to thaw, very serious health hazard. I once told and employee and his response was careless dismissal. Be careful if shopping there, if you don't get rotten food you might get run over by the flurry of hand carts, flinging boxes and box cutters the last few hours of the day. read more

The Trader Joes is what you expect from most of the chain's. Filled all of their usual products you normally would expect, the store is my go to location for salads, TJ's branded coffee, and a variety of other delicious goods. While they do charge 10 cents for a paper bag here, I find the parking to always be ample. To top off the experience, I always find that the aisles are wide enough here, and have enough room to accompany the post 5-o'clock rush on weekdays and weekend buyers. read more

This has to be my least favorite Trader Joe's in the area, and I will go out of my way to avoid it. The staff and products are all great - just what you expect of the chain. However, it is so cramped, that I leave on the verge of a panic attack every time. Cramped and overstuffed aisles make navigating very difficult. My biggest gripe with this location is that staff seems to do the most restocking when the store is the busiest. Ladders, crates and employees make an already difficult store virtually impossible to traverse. I wish they'd exclusively do that when it's quiet and cut down on congestion during peak hours. read more

Never thought I'd see the day when I flame Trader Joe's, but, you sure got my attention this morning... Round about 8AM, just after, and there's a few folks coming in and out, mostly guys stocking & all- & behind the registers though there's no one, but there's three Ambassadors from the Idiocracy behind the admin counter, laughing and yucking it up. An awesome smaller scale store with everything that I need. Been coming to Trader Joe's for a decade at this location. Staff have been friendly and very helpful throughout the years, Kudos to everybody! They know how to treat their customers! I must confess, I began shopping at TJ's since the early 90's at the Daly City location, before moving to the South Bay. In all these years, I've watched Trader Joe's retain competitive pricing and expand their basic items to the point where I can get everything I need, without going to drugstores or other larger supermarkets. TJ's also experiment with new products to see if customers like it, and they welcome feedback! Great quality fruit, veggies, & meats! I like that they pack your groceries and how staff check in with customers to make sure I've found everything I need! Thumbs up. I've always liked TJ's policy of returning items if I don't like them or if I have issues with any item they sell. No gimmicks, no hassle, no silly coupons, no "Cards"......just excellent customer service with awesome products for decent prices in a smaller "Less Overwhelming" store. I come to this Trader Joe's about once or twice each week, often on the way back from the gym. We're a bit addicted to their frozen pizzas (hence the gym), and their frozen salmon is good for a quick, healthy meal (we're able to make two dinners for two from about $10 worth of the salmon we get here). This location is pretty standard as far as Trader Joe's stores go: reasonable prices; an interesting mix of staples and all the random food you'd never think to buy until you see it on their shelves (and probably shouldn't buy anyhow); and, unfortunately, a hit or miss selection of fresh produce. I wish they were better on that last point, but we usually end up getting our fruit and veggies elsewhere (we do, though, regularly get cucumbers, tomatoes, and bell peppers here). Sometimes the slices of cheese they sell in packs here are congealed together, and one time I got home and realized the cheese I'd purchased was already moldy. Not sure if the refrigeration issue is occurring before or after the cheese arrives at this particular location, but either way, it's pretty gross. The staff here is friendly. Depending on who's manning the registers, the lines can sometimes move slowly, but they're usually good about opening up a lot of registers during the post-work and Sunday peak shopping times. read more

This Trader Joe's is just what you would expect. This is where I do most of my grocery shopping. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The parking is adequate for the amount of traffic. The restrooms are clean. I like how there are shopping carts for children in TWO sizes. My toddler loves to push around the tiny carts while we are grabbing a few things for dinner. read more

Where should I begin.....shall I applaud about plethora of healthy tasty cheese alternate or shall I lean towards great prices on their organic produce. I've been going here from two years and I seem to be exploring new stuffs in each visit of mine..T'Joe's never ceases to amuse my taste buds. They have a decent variety of ezekiel bread( LowGI bread) and the cinnamon with dryfruits on it is just like cinnamon bread but a much much healthier version.....Their free coffee samples are so flavourful. One of my favourite TJ's. Though their selection isn't as big as others I mostly come for produce and meat so not a big deal. Everyone is usually friendly. Don't shop for produce on the weekends though. Their new shipments seem to come in Monday. If u buy produce on sat or sun it's almost always bad by Monday. I work in the same shopping center of this Trader Joes. It is perfect walking distance to go grab something healthy to eat for lunch. Also they sell botled water for 37 cents!!! Great frozen food, love their sample station. Depends when you go they do have a bit of a crowd but nothing that you wouldn't see at any other grocery store. However, I was able to find many items I wanted and needed, as I have been able to do at all Trader Joe's locations I've been to so far. Soo many things to try no matter what TJ's I go to! Besides the WalMart, the only other downside I can think of per my visit yesterday was the staff not being as cute as some of the other locations :-(. this is my most favorite trader joe's in the entire silicon valley. it's located right next to esther's german bakery and daiso japan, who could ask for a better location?! parking is never an issue here, i've always found parking up front. lOve their fruit bars, naturally organic baking goods, their selection is great. their bathroom is clean (this is something that's important to me), haaha! customer service is excellent. staff here is helpful, fast, friendly and hard working. this one cashier cracked me up because in line before me, there was this lady who was SUCH a RUDE snob (i think she thought she was in harrod's dept store for food or something..) but she was the rudest person ever, and the cashier was so lighthearted about it - and funny - and still friendly. that's what i love about trader joe's, people here don't take life too seriously, and you always leave with a good feeling. :D read more

I love some of the items here, but it's not really the store for me. I've been able to find what I want at Whole Foods and Safeway. The staff here is friendly, but there is a list of things I don't care for: small aisles, no parking, gets extremely busy, and no cart returns. Everytime I come here it's packed. I'd prefer to go to Whole Foods just over on El Camino where I know I'll find just as good, if not better, foods and hassle-free parking. read more

It would be hard to exist in my world without Trader Joe's - I can't afford to shop at the oh-so-beautiful Whole Foods in Los Altos (unless I need a special cut of meat or am in serious need of their mac and cheese) and Safeway is useful but I am not into their premade stuff. I like that we can try different flavors and foods without breaking the bank because there is NO WAY that I have time to pull together these things on my own. Random list of faves: Niman Ranch meats (Fearless Franks YUM!) Great and affordable TJ precut veggie selection The TJ canned corn is amazingly crisp Parbaked Il Fornaio bread selection. TJ Chocolate chips (amazing in cookies or on ice cream). TJ Lemonade from the Refrigerator Beverage section YUM Also, my 3-year-old will not eat any other cereal bars (if you are a fan) and loves the Strawberry Mochi which they always have in stock. Avoid: The sushi (as previously noted) The premade sandwiches (a bit soggy) Shopping on Sundays - it is jammed now that Whole Foods is open and Albertsons is out. read more

I have been shopping at Trader Joe's (various locations) for over 10 years now. Overall, this is my favorite store to stock up my kitchen for pretty everything other than what I buy from the local farmers' market. I know that Trader Joe's is committed to non-GMO foods, so in the absence of labeling laws, it gives me some peace of mind that I am not consuming frankenfoods on a daily basis. For the organic items, the prices are definitely way less than other places. I really like the convenience of their $1.99 salad bags of various organic greens. It is a perfect value enabling least waste. Also love the bread and cereal variety they carry. I even buy some exotic soaps from here - like that heavenly lavender soap! Way friendlier service than other places I've been to. They have an amazing and unique selection of food. Great prices and there is always someone willing to help. I throw a lot of parties and they have a great selection of wine, beer and food to choose from. The employees are engaged with customers, the food is excellent. I love the fearless flyer. It is so fun to look through. They also have awesome holiday items! This is a great place for adults and kids. Other grocery and food stores should take notes from Trader Joes. This is probably my Trader Joe's location of choice. I'm judging based on how well-stocked the store is, and this one usually always carries key items that I buy such as guilt-free guacamole and panko-breaded tilapia (when compared to there store in Palo Alto). Other than that its like most other TJ stores (cozy atmosphere, good quality products, sampling station) I find it easy to find parking (also compared to their store in Palo Alto). Though this is not directly related to the store itself, it helps to have the Milk Pail, Target, and Safeway close by (which is not true for the store in Palo Alto, though it does have a CVS in the same plaza, but its not the same). Though I love the quality of many TJ products, they don't have everything..and when they don't, you can always go to these other stores conveniently in the same vicinity. read more

There's such an array of fresh, healthy and unique food here. The two buck chuck is nice if you're in the mood for cheap wine that doesn't taste like cheap cheap wine. The bananas are well-priced at $.19 a piece, but they're almost too fresh and preservative-free as they get ripe very quickly. Other things, like the broccoli florets in a bag, keep well. Although they have plenty of fresh options, the frozen fish is a great deal as it's freeze dried and keeps well in the freezer, ready for whenever you get around to cooking it. Prices are generally reasonable and there are all sorts of fun things to discover along the isles of TJ's. read more

LOVE IT! I do 90% of my shopping here... well maybe 75% (I'd like to think produce comprises more than 10% of my diet). I get my produce and some cheeses at the Milk Pail (http://www.yelp.com/biz/UUydu1JZeRDJYCoj735b5A) partly because it's even cheaper and [I think] fresher and I hate the individually packaged produce at TJs for two reasons. 1) I can't pick my own produce for freshness and 2) I think it's a HUGE waste of packaging and it really irks me because I think TJs is otherwise very conscientious. The other %5 is at Safeway because I prefer their lunchmeat and meat selection. Mostly for price. I'm cheap. When I can afford it, I'll go all organic, free-range etc. For now, I need to fall back on the Safeway butcher. read more

I have never had a bad experience at any Trader Joe's, especially when it comes to customer service. However that all changed today. I went in for one item and asked the cashier for a particular item. I ask him to hold my item while I went to take a look, but it was obvious that he was having a bad day based on his tone. (Tone and body language is huge in any job) I return with my additional items and the cashier begrudgingly asks "anything else?". He clearly wanted to rush me out, because as soon as the receipt printed, he snatched it from the printer ripping it and hands it to me with no eye contact. And I forgot to mention that this was 30 minutes before the store was closing and there was no line at all, and about 5 other people in the store shopping. No need to make me feel like I was keeping the store open longer than usual and be rushed out. I may skip this location going forward. I cant imagine what type of service I would get if the store was busy. read more

I've noticed that they are putting fruit in what used to be deliciously clean refreshing water that is served in the demo area. I asked when they would stop doing that and go back to fresh clean water. I was told the area supervisor wants it to be considered "spa" water. Trader Joe's is not a "SPA". Bring back the clean water. Some of us walk there during lunch and would love to have a refreshing cup of water. read more

Some employees in this store are rude. 1) A clerk that insults the customer This morning I went there to buy some fresh veggie and raw meat. I got a few extra plastic bags in the cart as they do not have plastic bags everywhere. I used only one bag and have 2-3 left in the cart, which I did not even notice myself. When I checked out, the clerk did not put the raw chicken meat in a plastic bag as other trader joe store clerks will do. Instead, he put a roll of plastic bag that almost ran out in my shopping bag and said that since I took free plastic bags, I might as well take a roll as they have lots of them left there. I did not quite understand what he meant until I saw the few extra plastic bags I have when I load the bags into my car. I can't believe what he said, to insult a customer like this! I was in a hurry so I did not get back to the store to complain to the manager. 2) A clerk that throws the bread to release her anger This is not the single case I saw this morning. While in the store, I notice another 50+ female clerk who is loading the bread. She seemed to be upset and just threw the bread towards the rack violently. Of course the bread feel off to the floor. Obviously she was releasing her anger using the bread. I don't know what happened to her. But this is certainly not a staff you want to deal with in Trader Joe. 3) A clerk that never helps the customers load their items into bags Previously, I met another clerk who simply scanned my items, and then chat with others without looking at me. I can see that she does not want to bag those items for me so I just load all the checked out items into the bags myself. I first thought she is discriminating against me. The next time I saw her, she was chatting with another customer while the customer loads the items into her bag herself. Now I see that this clerk just never helps put the items in the bag and some customers are used to that already. I went to trader joe a lot but quite surprised by some of clerks here. I believe most other clerks are nice here. But the manager of this store should think about why the employee are so unhappy and treating the customers like this. There should be something the management can do to improve their quality of service. read more

Ample parking, easy browsing, great prices on tasty Braeburn organic apples, bananas, rBHT free milk, cheese, butter, seasonings, pepper mix, canned beans, tuna, salmon, cocoa powder, whole wheat flour, frozen fruits, imported chocolates, California wines, $1.99 big bags of kale, arugula, baby spinach... Ever since I discovered Trader Joe's and Sprouts I cancelled my Costco membership and forgot about Safeway / Albertsons. Not only the monetary savings, we are now eating more healthy, avoiding growth hormones in our food whenever we can. Selections are limited but quality is generally great. I like that most shoppers bring their own reusable grocery bags while shopping at Trader Joe's. read more

Love this Trader Joe's!!! Great selection of fresh, low-processed food. The place is insane over the weekend, I try to avoid at all cost and only go on the weekday. But the cashiers are fast and always super friendly and chatty. This store is always well-stocked, I have yet to go and find things I'm looking for out of stock. They also carry a decent amount of international food. My only qualm is that I wish they carried a few more organic fruits (particularly apples). Otherwise I look forward to going to TJ's and have to control myself from buying the entire store. :) read more

Got to love this place! From the product to service... it's all great and above the rest. Being a fitness and nutrition profesional who lives the lifestyle this place makes my life much easier. So that's not enough, the other day while in line and about to check out. I realized what I forgot, lemons. Keep in mind that the place is about to close. I came in two min. before closing time and was warmly welcomed. Never did I or other shopers in the store felt as if we were rushed since it was time to close. I did a lot of shopping and while I was checking out is when it happened. I made it aperant to the register guy with my reaction of awww and he aked "what did you forget?" Before I was finised saying "lemons, but no big deal" behind me replied a nice lady. "lemons or limes?" I said lomons, please and only two. She went and got me two. Now this is going above and beyond the call of duty. I'm not sure if they say they close and still stay there for clients but it was nice to feel welcomed and serviced even after close.
