I have been very satisfied with the meat I've bought here. I bought a small ham for a holiday meal, & it was perfect, no nitrates, or additives, or globs of fat in it. I usually shop at a different Jewel located closer to my home. However I was in the area and needed to complete some shopping that was on my list, so I decided to give this Jewel a try. It was an absolute pleasure for me to walk into what appeared to be a well maintained facility with what I found to be very friendly and helpful associates. Since this was not my usual Jewel, I was unfamiliar with the layout. I asked an employee who was walking by me if they could direct me to the location of something I was looking for and they without hesitation said sure. They immediately changed the direction they were walking in and walked me to the actual item I wanted. Next I was headed to the deli counter to check upon the Signature ribs that were on sale. The young man at the deli informed me that they were sold out but he could take care of my request if I could wait just a few minutes. I agreed and said I would just shop the bakery section and then return. I didn't quite finish my shopping in the bakery department when the young man from the deli department walked over to me with 2 of the half slabs freshly sauced, packaged and ready to go. Talk about great customer service. Sometimes it just doesn't get any better than this. As I was walking to checkout, I was approached by another Jewel employee, who asked me did you find everything you needed ? I couldn't help myself but to ask if there is someone I could talk to about the customer service at this location. Nervously she replied, yes there is, me. So, I let her have it...I proceeded to tell her how over the top the associates at this location were, referring to their friendliness and willingness to help their customers. I felt the need to thank someone for this extremely pleasant shopping experience. In addition, those Signature ribs, DELICIOUS

The other day I called the customer service desk from one of their red phones and asked for someone to open a dressing room for me. The woman asked where I was. I'm not sure, but I don't think there are any other dressing rooms. Anyway, she finally came over and did not say a word to me. I said hi, someone has been in the other room for a while She smirked and walked away. I wanted to communicate non-verbally as well with a one finger wave. I have learned that going to Meijer requires a couple of things (especially on the weekend): 1) Do not plan to get out of there quickly. Go with the mindset that you will be there for a while, especially when trying to check out. 2) Don't expect friendly employees. You won't be disappointed this way. 3) Don't expect friendly customers. Most customers do not follow the first 2 rules here and are agitated. 4) Go with the attitude that everyone else is a joke. Watch the unhappy customers, unhappy employees, and those of us that follow the suggestions listed in 1,2, & 3. You'll know which ones we are. Stay relaxed and you'll be fine.
