Far too often this sort of internet platform is used by many to do nothing but complain and point out their misgivings at a particular business. Not this time. I usually shop at a different Jewel located closer to my home. However I was in the area and needed to complete some shopping that was on my list, so I decided to give this Jewel a try. It was an absolute pleasure for me to walk into what appeared to be a well maintained facility with what I found to be very friendly and helpful associates. Since this was not my usual Jewel, I was unfamiliar with the layout. I asked an employee who was walking by me if they could direct me to the location of something I was looking for and they without hesitation said sure. They immediately changed the direction they were walking in and walked me to the actual item I wanted. Next I was headed to the deli counter to check upon the Signature ribs that were on sale. The young man at the deli informed me that they were sold out but he could take care of my request if I could wait just a few minutes. I agreed and said I would just shop the bakery section and then return. I didn't quite finish my shopping in the bakery department when the young man from the deli department walked over to me with 2 of the half slabs freshly sauced, packaged and ready to go. Talk about great customer service. Sometimes it just doesn't get any better than this. As I was walking to checkout, I was approached by another Jewel employee, who asked me did you find everything you needed ? I couldn't help myself but to ask if there is someone I could talk to about the customer service at this location. Nervously she replied, yes there is, me. So, I let her have it...I proceeded to tell her how over the top the associates at this location were, referring to their friendliness and willingness to help their customers. I felt the need to thank someone for this extremely pleasant shopping experience. In addition, those Signature ribs, DELICIOUS read more

Worst deli of any Jewel in the area. Most times I leave the counter empty handed because I get tired of watching five employees doing prep work while one employee waits on customers. Waited fifteen minutes for chicken today and just left and went elsewhere. read more

The staff at this store are either mean or uninterested. The people behind the counter at the deli were arguing with each other when I was waiting for service. I try to avoid this location when I can, this is a very unpleasant place to be. read more

Great selection, amazing meat department which is full service. Good competitive pricing and the staff is just amazing all around. Very helpful. Produce department rocks as well. Always fresh! read more

I am a fresh pass subscriber & Lately I have been getting a lot of expired food delivered by the Batavia Jewel, The departments are not doing their job when restocking shelves, I don't drive & Place a lot of orders for delivery, Management needs to get on the department managers to get them to do their jobs, What do I need to do request every item I order to have date checked before ordering, NOT AT ALL HAPPY read more

I placed an online order and mind you I've been ordering online with jewel since Covid faithfully. This past order was a deciding factor for me to stop shopping with jewel due to this experience. I ordered online for an allotted time and didn't get groceries until 7pm when my delivery time was suppose to be delivered no later than 1pm. 6 hours later the deliver dropped the groceries off with melted ice cream, missing meats and a number of decreased temperature items. I called the Jewel delivery department she offered $40 credit which also included the credit for the grocery bag..... this was a slap in the the face for all the damaged items and experience needless to say with the was disappointing because all the items it seemed I needed were out of stock and substituted with whatever they wanted me to have .... Never again Jewel will you get money with services such as this. I'm not a woodmens type shopper but I will be for here on! RIP Jewel! read more

Just moved to north aurora and this is the closest jewel. I've gone twice now over the last 6 months and got 2 items expired. This time it was break n bake cookies. I'm too lazy to go back. They just lost a customer for life. Its already a hassle using their app. I'm done. read more

I went in shortly after 11pm, and an employee told me I could not purchase NON-ALCOHOLIC beer, "because the law says so" -- and she proceeded to give me a discourse on how there's no such thing as non-alcoholic beer, just as there is no such thing as decaf coffee (as if those two things are related in any way). So-- I looked up the law, and she was, in fact wrong. Beverages containing .05 ABV or less (including the one I had hoped to purchase) are exempt from state AND local liquor regulations. The Liquor Control Act of 1934, [235 ILCS 5/1-1 et seq.] Title 3 Chapter 3 Section C. states: "Alcoholic liquor" includes alcohol, spirits, wine and beer, and every liquid or solid, patented or not, containing alcohol, spirits, wine or beer, and capable of being consumed as a beverage by a human being. The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to any liquid or solid containing one-half of one percent, or less, of alcohol by volume. This exact language is also stated in Batavia's Business and License Regulations. Train your employees, and maybe discourage them from spewing legal 'knowledge' that they clearly lack. Taking a break from Jewel now. read more

Takes forever to restock, 10c a bag, the wait for the deli order is lengthy, bathrooms are filthy and rundown. I now go to Woodmans, so much better. Always well stocked on everything, bags are free, clean bathrooms and friendly employees. read more

Does Jewel not like single households?? The sales they advertise you have to buy multiple items. Also their forU coupons don't always work so a trip to service desk to straighten out. Waste of time for me and also their clerks. I think I am going to shop someplace else!!! read more

'The Jewels' has a reputation; most people can't stand the place! Just take a number at the Deli Counter and get ready to watch a 'real-time' audition for the 'Walking Dead'... Jewel-Osco - 'The Buffalo' - Grocery Near Me - Batavia, Illinois

The Jewel corporate needs to do something about the deli department. The service is terrible. I, and I have seen many others, just walk away frustrated because we are tired of waiting so long. I believe the employees there are working hard but the corporate level is doing them a disservice. Fix it. Its what you get paid for. read more

Went to this Jewell on 8/15 and had Laura as our Cashier. Anyway, that's what is said on our receipt.. her name tag was backwards and blank. Not only was she rude, she was the absolutely slowest person that I've ever encountered at a check out in my life. I was afraid she was going to fall asleep between scans. Would not go back read more

I won't contact you. I know why you have that policy. Because of theft and return for cash. I get it. But my shopping at this subsidiary has been cut by more than half. Bad taste in my mouth. I go to Osco for vaccinations however. I'm sure you pay manager's crappy wages so little insensitive to be friendly. There is a (union) cashier at this location who I enjoyed seeing or asking for help. read more

Jewel-Osco - Brands I'll think about when I do not go to Jewel-Osco. - Grocery Near Me - Batavia, Illinois

Absolutely terrible! Really don't know why we went here?!?! Oh wait, yes I do, we needed just a couple things so thought we'd drop in. The isles are narrow, boxes on the floor full of items to be put on shelves but not a employee to be seen. We needed 2 items from the deli counter.....we should have walked out! The scales were covered with pieces of food, hope it was food, obviously not wiped down in a long time. Meat/cheese slicers were equally dirty! It (deli department) was a complete $hit show! Nothing was organized, from employees to appearance. We are tempted to throw out the food we bought. Kane County Health Department would have their work cut out if they paid this Jewel a visit! NEVER, NEVER again will we go to the Batavia Jewel/Osco! EDIT. This is a reply to Dawn M., business manager. Seriously Dawn, you want me to "chat' with someone which will land on deaf ears? Come on, look at previous reviews! They all say the same thing ( in different words ) but in reality, this store is terrible!!! It's awful, it's one of those stores you just can't wait to get out of! Close this store and put in someone who cares about cleanliness, customer service and compassion. Like a Mariano's, Caputo's, Whole Foods, etc. Going to throw out our deli purchases, we really don't want to get sick! read more

Probably the most awkward layout I've ever experienced. The dairy section is split up between a couple cooler aisles that flow into freezer aisles, but there's also stuff on the end caps. I almost lost my mind here searching for sour cream. After walking up and down these aisles like a mad woman, I finally saw it in the refrigerators with the milk. While butter, eggs, cream cheese, yogurt etc were all in different areas. I also had a similar experience with chicken tenders. Were they in the freezer section? Nope. By the meat coolers? Nope. One of those open coolers in the center? Nope. Finally gave up and asked the butcher and she pointed them out to me. They were in an awkward short diagonal case near the meat and adjacent to the milk refrigerators. But hidden behind a large display. Do not go here for deli meat if you are in any sort of a rush. They use the numbered tickets and while it seems like things might be moving quickly, they usually don't. It may look like there's plenty of employees behind the counter, but don't be fooled, they are slicing meat for online orders. I've waited here in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday for half an hour. I was too scared to get out of line and have to come back and wait again. My review was originally 2 stars, however I have given it 3 stars because every lotto ticket I've gotten here has been a winner. read more

The sushi is really yum however the bathrooms are extremely disturbing because they make me feel like I will contract a disease there.

Working here is an absolute nightmare, some of the customers are complete assholes, I was in a bad mood I was just doing my job tho some dick just snapped at me thinking I was taking it out on him and swore at me. Not to mention that no one fucking likes me here, I am hated by everyone. Especially Victoria kaptur who works as one of the cashiers, I want her out of the job, and Peyton imes and Preston I forgot his name, and Brad something and Staci something, I want them all out. I am done with all of them. I want a happy experience, plus I already want to transfer to a different Jewel due to transportation but still. This particular Jewel osco can kiss my ass read more

Service continues to drop and checking out is usually always backed up. Options are limited in the area.

Can someone please acknowledge it's time to pony up for a bathroom remodel? Most gas station/truck stop bathrooms are a breath of fresh air compared to this locations guest bathroom. It always smells horrendous and looks even worse. This is Batavia folks, I think you can do a little better. Otherwise: Friendly staff, generally clean store aside from the bathroom and great new liquor selection. read more

Girl at self checkout lane was very rude and didn't let me get alcohol even though I had my ID. So watch out for that.

This is typically one of the slower Jewels I've been to, but what made me decide to review is that my wife ordered a birthday cake. I was nearby. We had never ordered a birthday cake from Jewel, so my wife was asking for the prices and her options, it took her about 5 minutes to complete the transaction. During the process, the bakery clerk was saying things like, "You need to hurry up and make a decision. I have people waiting." There was one person that walked up behind her about half way through the order. That seems a little rude. It isn't like they have any information available to help you make decisions. read more

Never has anything in stock. The staff in the deli are great. But the fact that the store ALWAYS runs out Of stuff and then it takes a while for it to be back in stock is very irritating. read more

Update: I missed the call from Jewel and called them back, no one knew why? Until a manager picked up and said the lady that was lacking customer service was not working today, she'll talk to her tomorrow. She apologized for her actions and that's it, nothing of trying to make it right and have me come back as a customer again... I told her I am going to use Woodmans! You would think a gift certificate or something would of been offered to help make it right. Times have changed, they lost my family as customers! read more

As with most other reviews about this store, their customer service is awful! I had the worst experience today with "Tina" at their Deli/Chef's Kitchen when she started making highly inappropriate and insensitive comments to another customer about my 20 year old autistic son who was standing in the bakery area not bothering anything or anyone. The store manager Dustin also didn't seem to have a clue and offered little assistance to correct the employee or be considerate of my complaint. NEVER EVER will I step foot in this store at least without my attorney because I will definitely be pursuing this issue further. read more

This review is for the delivery service... it's absolutely awful. My order was scheduled to arrive at 7 PM I got a text from the driver that it would not be here till nine, so my mistake was calling customer service. I eventually ended up speaking to the customer service manager name Mike at the call center, and this man does not belong in customer service he would be better doing something by himself with the no people around. Basically he blamed the store, he blamed me because by the way anything over four items is considered a bulk order so if you want 5 quarts of iced tea , Jewel-Osco needs a four day notice on that. And in regards to dad he scolded me for not reading the frequently asked questions even though I didn't have any questions. This man was a joke. I will never use their delivery service again I love the store in Batavia, but their delivery service is more than lacking. read more

I usually have a good experience at this store St Charles West side store but today the Thursday before Easter I came in expecting fresh nice looking lettuce. The shelves were sparse and the few Romaine and Red Leaf looked bad. When I asked the produce guy who has thick black glasses if they have any better looking Romaine in the back he snapped at me and said " I just put that out yesterday and it's just fine!" So much for customer service. Needless to say I left the store and did my shopping elsewhere! They missed out on my big Easter shop. I've also heard one of the cashiers yelling at an older woman in front of me once. I said something when I went out the store to the front desk person. She rolled her eyes and said yes he's been told not to do that. I always avoided him as a check out person. Maybe this store needs a little seminar on customer service. read more

One of the rudest stores I have ever been in. It redicules that store manager was so disrespectful. Will never come into this store again. The guy at customer service was even worse read more

This Jewel has a very nice garden section set up every season. The associates do a very good job taking care of all the plants. Much better than places like Walmart, where the plants are left to sit out, and dry up. I have to commend Jewel for the way they hire folks with special needs. I have a family member who works at Jewel, and I see how well they are treated there. I see that a previous reviewer has made some ignorant, and derogatory comments about the special needs people at Jewel. I could make some nasty comments to this individual, but I feel that ignorant people like this deserve to be ignored. Judging from all the misspelled words in her review, she isn't exactly a very educated person herself. read more

This Jewel Osco rocks because we bought some white peaches and they were SUPER SWEET and delicious!!!!! We did self check out and it had a conveyer belt so all your products move to the end of the counter so that you can bag it after you've finished scanning everything. This is waaaay better than the self checkout at the Jewel I live by. You dont have to deal with bagging and weighing your products immediately after scanning it. My biggest pet peeve about self checkouts at Jewel is the machine saying to me "Unexpected item in the bagging area." !!!!!!!!!! All other Jewel Osco should follow this one! read more

Standard grocery store, shop here due to location. Produce is always a hunt and peck, some good some bad. Overall pricey but decent selections. The pharmacy is excellent and the reason I scored this location a 3 star instead of 2. Pharmacy personnel are knowledgeable and very attentive. read more

In the last year the service at this Jewel has really declined. Now, with the pandemic still raging they took all markers off the floors and customers come up right next to you with no respect to social distancing. I'm really disappointed with this jewel and will travel the extra miles to shop somewhere safe. Shame on you Jewel in Batavia!! read more

I felt so terrible for the older cashier woman when she said to me "I really wish people would be more considerate and wear their masks". The man and his two daughters in front of me had no masks. This woman should not have to be exposed to the individuals who choose not to wear masks. Jewel management should be enforcing the mask mandate to protect their employees. Either refuse to provide service or have a self checkout devoted to the maskholes so their employees can be safe. read more

I have shopped this store since it was built. I have given them the benefit (even in the number of stars). I've seen 85/15 ground beef as high as 7.99 while I can buy the same vacuum fresh meats from Linz usually (not always) for 3.99 delivered. The checkers are the strength of this organization and I know most of them by name. The store manager has been there for a time and he knows exactly what I am saying and does nothing about it. Over the years I have seen top quality produce reduced to what it is today: even in the winter the onions smell bad and have bugs flying on them. Want something from the deli counter (if you can ignore that some looks a little age worn). Today I saw 6 women behind the counter with one customer being attended to and no one calling numbers. Finally; we are in the season of failed coolers. Last year ice cream and frozen foods. This year fresh foods as you walk into the store by the self serve salad. My question: does the potato salad and perishable foods get put back out eventually when it finally gets fixed ?? Certainly no one would know. Albertsons is clearly not investing in this store so why should I invest my time and money into something no one seems to care about. There are good competitive choices in this market which I participate In. I shop value; value to me is buying a well priced green pepper that lasts more than a day. I cannot plan my menus with one days notice so it goes bad. Money wasted; lesson learned. I have no ax to grind I have max years invested in this store and I worked retail at a senior management level to understand store operations. Fix these issues: become customer centric or you will be buried by the amazons of the world read more
