Where do I start?? Well, first this place is ONE OF A KIND! Back in August, while on vacation, my wife asked me to find a place to get a bite and a drink on the water with a view. After looking around, I located Trader Ed's. We went there not knowing what to expect, we left we a new FAVORITE spot on the Cape! We went back a few more times that week, and before you knew it, the staff knew us by name. Fast forward to the weekend. A couple of months later, we are back on the Cape. Spent a long weekend in Hyannis and checked out this spot after finding it in one of the Cape guides. I was hoping for a live band, but it was just a DJ on Saturday night. The waterfront scenery was nice, and the vibe was decent. Service was okay. Seating was self-serve, seemed to have plenty of staff, however I got skipped over a few times and had to wave someone down more than once. I ordered the coconut shrimp plate, which was just ok. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the service. My friend and I came here on whim. We were immediately seated and our server was friendly and promptly gave us waters. I went with fish and chips and my friend ordered the steak tips and chicken. My fish was bland and not very crispy. My friends steak and chicken were seasoned well but overcooked. Last night sarted out as a good Saturday night and took a quick turn. Tan waitress thought it was cool to be throwing ice cubes from the bar to the high noon stand and hit customers multiple times. She then proceeded to try to kick my family out of our table for two guys that just came in wearing suits. She claimed they "reserved the table for 11" ( it was 11:40). We had been there since 8 PM. We told one of the security guards who then kicked them out, gave us our table back and had a word with her. He apologized for her behavior many times. Bartender was also extremely rude. This broad slammed about 5 shots in the time I was there. I get it here and there, but dont be a drunk bitch when you're working the bar. We ended up leaving shortly after this bs. Had a 6:30 reservation to catch sunset during dinner, was not seated until after 7pm. Then was tucked in a corner because they were slammed. Drinks took another 30 mins and 3/7 were incorrect. What a fun place! It has a pool and live music. They have the best lobster roll with lots of whole claw meat! If you like lobster, get it! Chicken wings were tasty and crispy. Fish and chips: did you see the size of the fish? My sister-in-law couldn't even finish it. She shared it with a friend. Raw oysters from Wellfleet were yummy! I love it with cocktail sauce and extra horse radish. When we were there, there was a promotion from Skrewball whiskey. They were promoting their peanut butter whiskey. Order a mudslide and you get a free T-shirt or metal straw. The family got mudslides and enjoyed them. The drinks were good. I don't drink alcohol but the virgin pina colada was so good, I ordered another one. read more

Fun place. Something for everyone. It's nice to relax and chat to the locals at the bar during the week and then, at weekends,there is live music in the afternoon and a DJ at night. Bartenders are full of energy and a lot of fun. Food is great with .weekly specials offering something different. We went there with a group of 9, The bouncer snapped my friends ID (who is 30 years old). After all this he finally lets us in (after paying a $20 cover) realizing they are cash only I leave to go get cash at the ATM outside. When i come back in, I walk past the lady you pay with and she says nothing because she recognizes us, not even seconds later some guy comes up claiming to be the owner(I know the owner and he is not the owner) and says he will pay us to leave because we are being a problem. Interesting place! I'm not really sure how I feel about the pool in the middle, but looks like it would be fun! We did not go in the pool this time... the crowd was a weird mix of young rich families and old rich dudes.. ok maybe not but that was the impression...the servers were young, but nice. The bar owner overtook the DJ and took the mic to say "any guy who gets in the pool will go to jail, and any girl who gets in the pool will come on my boat". After that statement I realized who I was ultimately paying by purchasing an $11 vodka soda in cape cod and chose to leave. The bar owner was buddying up to the police officer who had been called to the scene, and it was obvious that a previously developed relationship had been established. It appears that law enforcement was accustomed to being called to this location and they were not taking the matter seriously by only speaking to the bar owner. I love this bar. It is such a fun place to hang out when I'm on vacation. Nice to relax by the pool during the day and then get a bit wilder when the sun goes down and the DJ starts. Lots of characters at Traders, both staff and regulars.....who always make me feel welcome. Genuinely confused. Had a tasty lunch with my friend, and while the waitress wasn't amazing (waited 20 minutes to put our drinks in after she stopped by and tossed the menus on the table), we still tipped 20%, because waitresses make no real wage and it's the right thing to do. When we walked to our car, she came storming out after us and screamed "DO YOU GIRLS THINK I WORK FOR FREAKING FREE?" We tried to respond and ask her kindly what she was talking about, but she sprinted back inside. It was so weird- the valet parking guy saw the whole thing and was as dumbfounded as us. Bait and switch oyster special. They do not have 1$ oysters on Sunday. I was told they "don't do that anymore" despite it clearly being on their website. Service was slow and waitresses were rude. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Food is subpar, drinks are overpriced, and the bartenders don't know what they're doing. Not to mention, was there and saw a girl yakking in the corner (which should speak for itself) and asked a bouncer for some paper towels, who asked why and I told him someone threw up a little, when he asked who/where, I told him I'd take care of it, he didn't like my response, and told me he'd figure it out and that I'm going to be kicked out if I don't tell him. I was so sick of the place I said "sure, kick me out" and escorted myself to the door. I ran into the owner outside and I told him I just got kicked out for trying to help a girl throwing up inside and that he should probably check on her. I am currently sitting in the best bar in Hyannis. Kelsey is the best bartender in town, the bud lights are the coldest I've ever had. Enjoying a mudslide overlooking beautiful views of boats and the harbor, how could you go wrong. The food is great, the staff is even better. I'm new to the whole review thing but now that I'm on here I just want to say how much I enjoyed the crowd and vibe here. The drinks are good and the service was prompt. We got a few appetizers, a drink and sat right on the water at one of the high top tables. It was a nice experience, we left before the sunset as it was getting busy. After waiting triple the time the staff letting people in let their friends in before us. As a native of South Florida, I've considerable expertise with waterfront drinking. Pretty simple formula, most believe; take open water, add alcohol. But nay good sir. That said, if you slam the atmospheric apple corer over the latter and shift the little nugget to the Cape, you've got yourself Trader Ed's. While the beautiful, sparkly-pocketed staff can afford to be curt and catty, they aren't. Quite the opposite, in fact, as Allie defined service with a smile - quick with a joke and (when the sun shifted) the pair of designer shades off her head. Food's moderate and the mixed specialty drinks read straight from a seaside frat menu. Basic and powerful, the $7-8 price tag doesn't hit the wallet as quickly as the alcoholic suntan will turn you into one. Probably not my scene if under a roof, but because it ain't, I'd definitely swing by again. read more
