From 12 o'clock: Stringy, dry braised beef 'short ribs', very dry rice pilaf with a spoon of the beef sauce to moisten it up a little, flavorless, unseasoned butternut squash ravioli in browned butter with pepitas, exceedingly dry, unseasoned salmon with no sauce, gummy, pasty chicken part with a gluey, tasteless sauce and very tasty glazed carrots. The salt shaker did a lot of work on this meal. The crême brulée was nice. The room's ambiance was cold and sterile with no discernable decor. The podium on the riser was visible scratched, nicked and dinged. There was one bartender for 150+ guests and they were apparently short staffed. P.S. If you're planning an event there, beware. The food, service, and ambiance there sucks (in my personal, and formerly professional opinion).

I was here for a two day conference…read more Given what I experienced, I would not book this hotel for a vacation getaway. For what it needed to be for this conference- it sufficed. I know this hotel has been undergoing changes and renovation so I will keep my eye on the reviews to see if anything improves. The good- the food. Lunch, dinner and breakfast were all buffet were to my surprise was pretty good. I had limited interactions with the staff so cannot comment there. I will say we had a fire alarm go off (I get it), and we were told although the firefighters couldn't find the source, they (the hotel) would keep an extra eye on things and be diligent in our wing. Fifteen minutes later- the alarm in my room started chriping (assumed it was the battery). Called the front desk from the room phone 3 times over 15 minutes- no answer. Called the main number of the hotel from my cell phone and the front desk picked up. They sent maintenance, who stood on the vanity bench from the bathroom to reach the ceiling and change it. In contrast, one of the other room (I was a chaperone for a large group)- their maintenance person put a plastic bag and duct tape over the fire alarm. The bed was comfortable. While our shower was clean, two of the other rooms had bugs in the shower. One room had yellow water from the faucet. At this point it was very late so we had the kids shower in other rooms. Our shower had the overspray on the wall tiles from when they repainted the bathtub. Floors are worn and dust and dirt under the bed. No screens on the sliding door. Two bottles of cheap shampoo and one bar of soap were given - Luckily I brought my own. Now the electrical outlets- none of them could charge a cell phone other than the ones in the bathroom. Multiple chaperones reported the same. When unplugged in the charger, it literally fell out of the wall. And the outlet next to the bed- the switch plate was broken and the outlet was ready to fall out all together. Can't comment on the pool but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Everything else is just... worn and tired and dated and if redone it was not redone well. I would not call this a "resort". Conference center it was.

Working with Dawn, the event coordinator was such a wonderful experience. The WLYC sits right on Wequaquet Lake, making it a dreamy backdrop for all of our pictures. Every single person we interacted with (especially Dawn) at WLYC was genuinely kind and helpful throughout the entire process, we never felt like we were just another wedding. We were able to bring in our own catering and use their kitchen. Part of their contract is to use their bar and bartenders (who were amazing, our guests raved about them!), fortunately their alcohol was very reasonably priced. The whole dining room faces the lake and large windows run the length of the room, there was plenty of space for all of our (17) tables and still room for dancing! They done a number of renovations over the past few years, giving the dining and entry rooms a beautiful facelift (and a higher ceiling) without losing any of the Cape yacht club charm. This venue is amazing whether or not you're planning your event on a budget (but especially if you are). Check it out, talk to Dawn, you will not regret it!

I should have ordered fresh from the menu but no one explained to me- customer service is hit or miss here, some are fab and others can't wait to go home and it shows. The property has so much potential but its failings dimmish it greatly. It is dated and many things are broken, dirty or non-functional. I was here two years ago (attended a conference) and stayed offsite. This year (same conference) I thought it would be nice to stay on site, and I regret it. My room is large, and the bed is comfortable however there is a terrible odor of must, or mildew or mold. It is overpowering. The entire wing my room is in smells of this. The air conditioner is noisy, and the odd refrigerator placed on a small table is also noisy. The hallway floors are lifting and squishy as if they may have been water damaged. Lamps are broken and power outlets are limited and oddly located. There is no place to sit at a desk or table in the overly large room. The main resort area and conference rooms is full of gnats (or fleas? or fruit flies?). I will say the resort is affordable - and that may be due to the poor quality of the facility. I can see it being attractive to families who may be on a limited budget, have amenities for the kids and things to do off site. For the most part, I do not recommend. Which is sad, I want to, it has potential, but it is too dated and dilapidated. Perhaps with the funds they get from the partial sale they will be able to invest.

Our request for extra pillows was quickly honored. We were probably about 20 to 30 steps from the indoor pool and we were worried it might be noisy, but heard nothing from our room. A quiet and tranquil stay. We did not swim, but did check out the pool area and it was spacious and inviting. The shower had great water pressure with plenty of hot water, and shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied. We loved the shelving in bathroom to house the towels. We very much enjoyed our stay, the price was very reasonable and would highly recommend. 4.5 stars.

As they were unloading, we snuck around them to the front desk. The front desk told us that this was the first of 2 buses that would be staying at the hotel. It was supposedly a little larger than the other rooms. The room had a nice sofa and a work area. A small refrigerator was available for us to use. The bathroom was adequate. The toiletries were the usual bonvoy special. The room was good enough to give a couple of good nights of sleep. Breakfast was served in the morning downstairs. Because of the multitudes of elderly there on a bus tour, they also opened up a conference room for additional seating during the breakfast hours. The breakfast was decent for a Fairfield with scrambled eggs, sausages, breads and fruit. 2 waffle irons were available for you to make waffles. The hotel gym was located on the first floor. It had ellipticals, treadmills and bikes for your cardio equipment. Dumbbells were available for you to lift. Santizing wipes were available for you to clean the equipment. I got to meet a few of the participants on the tour from both Ohio and from the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. They were really nice people with a great sense of humor. They told me that I could be a stoway on the bus. The hotel was good. It was better than I thought it would be. Meeting the nice people on the tour made my stay even better. Nothing to be scared of.

However, the following day I encountered unprofessional and unsanitary conditions that have left me extremely concerned. On Saturday afternoon, I approached the housekeeping staff to request clean towels and politely asked that they not clean my room. The housekeeper I spoke to was dismissive and rude. She asked me to place the used towels on the floor, then handed me a trash bag and instructed me to place the towels inside myself. I found this behavior unprofessional and disrespectful. Worse yet, on Sunday morning, while drying myself after a shower, I was horrified to discover dried blood on one of the supposedly clean towels that the same housekeeper had given me. It was extremely disturbing and unacceptable for a hotel of Marriott's standards. I immediately re-showered and used a clean shirt to dry myself instead. At checkout, I showed the photo of the towel to a front desk employee (a Latina woman), who asked for my phone number on a yellow sticky note and told me the manager would contact me. No one has called me since, and it has been several days.

I also had to use the on-site ATM because the bar was cash-only, which added an extra fee. The atmosphere seemed geared toward locals, and as a visitor I did not feel particularly welcome. After having three drinks and causing no problems, I was told I needed to leave. I wasn't arguing with anyone, bothering other customers, or causing a disturbance, so the decision came as a surprise. I fully respect a bartender's right to refuse service, but the interaction felt abrupt and dismissive. I left without arguing, but the overall experience left a bad impression. There are many great places on Cape Cod. Based on my experience, I would choose somewhere else next time.
