As a person who is long time hard of hearing and very suspect of hearing specialists I have to say…read morethat VICTORY HEARING AND BALANCE is still THE BEST. First off, I loved Dr. Franklin. He was so helpful getting me into my first pair of truly usable hearing devices. He helped me get my first set and they were miraculous. I let 4 years go by without even a check-up. I finally made a recent appointment with Dr. Jill Davis a new practitioner at VHB. I was actually very sensitive an wary of the new staff. I feared I was gonna get told that my present aids are outdated and I need to spend 7k to replace them. But no, it went much more positively than that. I melted under the kindness and care of new staff at Victory Hearing and Balance. They told me that my aids were still state of the art except for non rechargeable batteries, I found out I can replace parts for reasonable fees and also there is an app that can locate lost devices! Also I found out how adjustable my aids are. I felt like I got a fantastic deal for the cost of the office visit and test! Wow thanks VHB for everything.

They told me…read morethey lost my hearing aids and said to have the VA make an appointment with them but it took 3 years to get approval and once I went for an appointment the doctor is on ZOOM on the east coast. After fitting the hearing aids still didn't sound right and told I would get use to them. NO. This is the 5th pair I owned and the VA paid around $20,000 for aids that I'll never wear. Said it be 3 months to get an appointment for adjustment. Rude. No communication and I am still deaf. VA LIES AND VETERANS DIE and their Community Care is just as bad.

I was upset that the whole world didn't speak louder or provide me with a better environment to understand what was being said. After we would go out on the town with friends my wife would state "you didn't say much tonight". I would try to explain how I couldn't comprehend the dialog and just tuned out. I can't believe I allowed myself to suffer for so long but I understand the average patient waits 4 years or more. How much would you pay to get one of your senses back? NewSound makes it affordable to hear again and my life has changed for the better since last year. It's taken me a while to get accustomed to hearing which direction noise is coming from and I for one enjoy the squeals and whispers from my grandchild. I owe her a debt of gratitude for the wonderful care she has given me over the years. She is sympathetic, caring and kind. One weekend my ear was hurting and I was very dizzy. I went to the ER. I was sent home from the ER and diagnosed with an ear infection. The ER doctor rushed me out and handed me a prescription for antibiotics. I called Dr. Surapaneni and followed up with her. She found a shingles outbreak on my head that extended to my ears and placed me on an antiviral medication. I then went to my ENT doctor who stated that there was no ear infection, she was correct. I already had hearing loss from the shingles which extended from my head to my ears. If she had not placed me on the antiviral medication i could have had permanent hearing loss. Her quick thinking and critical diagnostic skills saved me from a lifetime of hearing loss. This is just one example of so many where she has listened patiently, found a solution to a difficult diagnosis and been there for me. Most doctors rush you in and rush you out. She spends time with you and really listens. This is especially important at times when you are very ill and unable to help yourself. Her ability to look at your over all wellness and health is a gift. I cannot recommend her more highly. It is vital for our wellness to establish a relationship with our primary care doctor. There often is no quick fix for many issues. It's important to keep your primary care doctor in the loop about all of your care - if you go to a specialist, make certain they send her the records from your visit. Get your lab work done regularly and make certain you make a follow up appointment. Be proactive in your wellness. I rely on her to give me good advice, help me find a good specialist when needed and to take care of me but it's important for the patients to also do their part and get your regular exams, a yearly physical, etc. It is a two way street and she always does her part. I am so blessed to have found her!
