It is rare to find someone with so much integrity and pride in his work. Tracy is not only talented, but his service and communication is unparalleled. Two years ago we purchased our dream home, which Tracy built and designed. We had some tiles of our hot tub fall off and the first company I asked to review told me I had to retile the entire pool. I reached out to Tracy to see if there was a warranty. Tracy called me back immediately and explained there is a warranty only for a year, but when I explained my situation he sprung to action. He found a tile company to replace the tiles and even cleaned it up to look better than when we moved in. A tile was missing, and he called the company he originally purchased from to see if he could find a replacement. And then he covered the entire cost. I don't know if I've ever encountered this level of detail and generosity from any professional I've worked with in any capacity. You can tell Tracy takes pride in work that he puts his name to. He will be my first recommendation and first referral for any design or build work. So grateful to have met him! read more

Skill, Budget and Schedule the most important factors in choosing a Contractor! With Tracy's team we got it all +! Tracy and his crew did a fabulous job from start to finish! I highly recommend him and would gladly hire him for any future project. When I started the project, I contacted 5 different contractors. Tracy was the most responsive and his price was fair. He also pointed out parts of the scope that we're bumping the price past my budget so we could look at more reasonable alternatives. During the project, which involved a lot of creative pieces including working with a mosaic artist, Tracy was always proactive, down-to-earth and easy to work with. We had excellent communication too, which made things so much easier. There were a couple of surprises such as unanticipated structural issues which means that some of the design had to be changed on the fly. Tracy and his crew always came up with viable and cost-effective solutions. Now, I have a gorgeous bathroom and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. I've already recommended the crew to a few friends and would love to work with Tracy again! read more

I called Tracy today expecting to hear what I've been hearing from other contractors in the past couple weeks - "too busy, booked out till next year". While it was true that my projects were too small-scale for Tracy's company, and that they are-in fact-very busy, rather than wish me luck and brush me off, he took time to look up and provide me with about 5 referrals for the work I needed done within minutes. His willingness to take time to do that, on top of giving me names of people that he vouches for was priceless! Thanks for giving me hope today! Keep up the great work read more

We've just completed our first large scale renovation in Upper Rockridge and we couldn't be more thankful of going with Tracy and his fantastic team. We spent a lot of time interviewing architects and construction companies and always felt slightly uneasy about designing a vision with an architect that couldn't be completed on budget with a construction firm when designs were handed off. From our first meeting Tracy jumped in with sketching and envisioning what the space could be, all the while keeping a "value engineering" perspective, maximizing the bang for the buck when it came to construction. The design process was super collaborative and he really listened to the things that were important to us and how we wanted to use the space. He completely understood our aesthetic and was able to take our 1926 home to something a young growing family can truly live in. His eye for detail is something I really look for (being somewhat anally retentive myself) and he never disappointed when it came to the quality of workmanship. Every piece of the construction, even the stuff you don't see, was meticulously finished by his fantastic team. Being our first big renovation, Tracy patiently walked us through every aspect of the process and we felt extremely confident when entering into a contract with him exactly what we were getting and what to expect. From discussion with friends, its almost unheard of to have a project of this nature completed without huge "gotchas" and I can happily report there were none. We did end up slightly over budget, but for purely selfish reasons (upgrading the patio, adding landscaping etc). I couldn't recommend him more and would happily use him again when we're ready for the next stage. Thanks for everything Tracy, Alfonso, Gustavo, Javier and Jesus! read more

Tracy and his team are amazing. When we built Tank18, we hit more than a few snags with the city permitting process, for no reason of Tracy Anthony team. He and his team were with us every step of the way helping us execute the permit process. Once we cleared that hurdle, he and his team worked around the clock, weekends, evenings, etc to try and get our project back on track. The work was amazing, it was fairly priced, and the team is extremely responsive. I completely trust the entire team and would recommend them to anyone. Oh and check out some of the homes that they have built, stunning! read more

My wife and I bought an old property in Rockridge at the end of 2013 with a daunting list of issues to deal with. From the moment we started talking to Tracy and laying out what we were looking to do we instantly felt comfortable that we were dealing with someone who really wanted to work with us to get the best possible result for our budget. He instantly knew the type of look we were aiming for and there was a real sense of collaboration over what we were trying to achieve. The level of communication with Tracy and the team was truly excellent - we felt completely in the picture of what was happening and in true project management style the scope was delivered, on time and too budget (with only agreed changes along the way too enhance the end result). Now 4 months later with a completely new kitchen, family room and upgrades to all the main services in the property we are absolutely delighted with the decision to go with Tracy. His crew are awesome, extremely professional, skilled and with a really keen eye for those details that really make the difference to the final finish. We didn't have any option but to live in the upstairs of the property during the majority of the build and the fact that Tracy and his team were so courteous and willing to make accommodations for our situation was hugely appreciated and done with good humor. I have recommended Tracy to friends (basically anyone who would listen) who are looking to upgrade their homes and once we have had time to enjoy our home for a while we will be kicking off a final phase of upgrades. Tracy, Gustavo, Javier, Victor, Stu, Alex (x2), Jesus, Alfonso (sorry there may be a few missed off who we did not see so much) - Thank you. read more

I own a locksmith company. Tracy calls me to rekey homes after he is done with construction projects. I love doing work for him because I get to see the finished product. I must say that I LOVE the quality and look of his team's work. Super professional. A pleasure to work with as well. Gabriel Lock & Key read more

This is the first time I have written a negative review on Yelp, but I felt I would be doing people looking for a honest and reliable contractor a disservice by not writing about my recent experience with Tracy. My husband and I had used him 5 years ago when we first bought our house. We had a fairly good experience then, which is why we called him again when we wanted to do some more work on the house. It started in a meeting with him in April (2016). We told him the scope of the work we wanted to do, which was in three phases. The first part was to renovate our downstairs in-law unit. Tracy brought over Brian Winer, a sub contractor of his, to manage the job. Tracy told us that Brian was the "only person he trusted to do the job right", so we felt comfortable and had Tracy write up a cost contract for the work. Tracy made it clear that Brian was the person we were to work things out with. The job was supposed to take one month. Brian needed a place to stay for a few months and said he would pay us rent while living and working on the place until September. Since Tracy trusted him so much, we assumed we could as well. June came and went, July came and went. We asked Brian what the hold up was. He said Tracy kept putting him on other jobs instead of ours, and that "he worked for Tracy, and went where Tracy told him to go." We emailed Tracy and he referred us back to Brian. We went over all the costs in Tracy's cost contract with Brian. Brian told us many of the costs in the bid weren't necessary, and that Tracy built in "cushion" that way. We cut these parts out with Brian's direction. Tracy had added 20% management fee in, but wasn't going to do any management because he said Brian was in charge of all that. Brian promised that FOR SURE he would finish our job by the end of August. The end of August came and went. We met with Brian again, and emailed Tracy again. Promises were made that the job would ABSOLUTELY be finished by September 28th. By September 28th almost no work had been done. A new contract was written up with a new finish date of October 31st. Finally, 2 weeks before the 31st, Brian informed us that he would only be able to do half of the contracted work, and would be leaving to move back up to his house 4 hours north of the Bay Area. He left globs and spatters of drywall on the walls, installed a bathroom sink improperly so that the drawers don't fully close, tore part of the carpet near the closet door he installed and tried to hide it, and scraped paint off the newly painted floors while installing a door. None of this was resolved. We were told that we had only hired him to install the vanity, not to install it so that the drawers would close--that would require replacing an 8" piece of pipe. We contacted Tracy AGAIN, asking for his help, asking who would do the work now, and he said he was now too busy and refused to take any responsibility for what Brian had done or for any part of the situation. He then told us that Brian was a sole contractor and didn't work for him. Are you as confused as we were? We told him we were now out of pocket for the rent we wouldn't be receiving while we tried to be our own contractor and cobble people together to do the remaining work. We tried withholding final payment from Brian, but he started sending us disturbing and violent emails and texts. We told Tracy about this too. He said it wasn't his concern. This is the part that I think the worst of it all--the fact that Tracy refused to take any responsibility for what someone working for him had done. I know people make mistakes--I don't mind this as long as they have the integrity to do their best to fix those mistakes. We have repeatedly given Tracy opportunities to make this right. He has refused every one, which is why I am writing my first negative yelp review. As an individual taking care of a family and a business of my own, I don't have the time or money to hire an attorney to try to get compensation for our loss back from Tracy. The only recourse I have is to tell my story here. I hope this helps someone else. read more

Tracy and his team recently installed a set of La Cantina doors at our home and they came out beautifully. His price was very competitive and the quality of his work is terrific. Everyone on the team is terrific. Jesus acted as foreman and he was fantastic - managing demo, framing, installation, drywall, stucco, and electrical seamlessly. He took my calls, even when I called him in the middle of the night freaking out. Manny and Beto were great, always showing up on time and working extremely hard (even in scorching heat). For his part, Tracy is patient, smart, creative, and thoughtful. He remembers the smallest details, while keeping the big picture in mind at all times. He is the only contractor I know who can take all the information at his disposal and instantly make the RIGHT call. Not a guess, not a question, he will give you the answer that you've been searching for, but just couldn't figure out. One final comment. IMHO, the true measure of a contractor is how they manage follow-up/customer service issues when things don't go exactly as planned. In our case there was a issue with our drywall and Tracy and Jesus jumped on it immediately. They had the drywall guy back at our house in less than 24 hours and by the time he finished it was perfect. That is fantastic customer service. read more

Tracy and his team do great work for an extremely fair price. All his guys were courteous and respectful of our space. We had him rip off the old aluminum siding of our house and redo it with redwood siding and lots of trim. Now it looks like a victorian. The job is done right. He has also referred me several contractors when the job was not within his scope of work. And those referrals have saved us big $$$. You should always call Tracy to bid your job. He usually comes in with the best bid, and the craftsmanship is excellent. read more

Amazing experience! We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have found Tracy and his team. From the moment we met Tracy, my husband and I felt very comfortable with his down to earth style and vast knowledge. The last thing Tracy said after we signed the contract was that this was going to be like a marriage and for it to work well, we needed good communication. He was right and incredibly responsive. Communication was timely and easy. He was never pushy and answered all our questions throughout the whole project. I'm not the most visual person and took a long time making decisions but he was incredibly patient. I am beyond grateful. Tracy's team is professional, hardworking and took pride in their work. We lived in our home during our remodel, they cleaned up at the end of the day and made sure the space was safe for our family to walk through. The work of the main crew and their subs was excellent and of high quality. Thank you to Jesus, Gustavo, Beto, Javier and the entire team. Gustavo finished up the punch list and his attention to detail is second to none. He truly put the final bow on our project! Friends told us horror stories and to expect some disasters, but we can truly say we didn't experience that and I'm sure it's because of this amazing team. They exceeded all our expectations! They completely transformed our home. Highest recommendations to anyone looking to remodel. Thank you TAGC! read more

My boyfriend and I were first introduced to Tracy through friends who'd had a great experience with him and his team. At that time we were several months into a bedroom/bathroom renovation with another contractor with whom things had gone sour. Tracy made himself available the day I contacted him to come out and give us a quote. He was understanding of our tight budget and was able to get his team out to take over work the next week. His team was respectful and courteous and delivered an excellent quality of work. As unplanned/unconsidered (by us) items came up during construction (patching needed on our wood floor, wainscoting to match the look of our 100 year old house, a stone top to cover the area around our jet tub, our request for frameless glass shower doors, etc.) Tracy was consultative and helpful in addressing these needs and was always able to find us a great solution. His team finished within the quoted time frame (4 weeks for a total bathroom gut/expansion!) and we are SO pleased with the results! We now have an absolutely gorgeous bathroom and I'd recommend Tracy to anyone looking for a superhero contractor. He knows his stuff, only subcontracts with trustworthy people who deliver up to his (high!) standards, has a great eye for design and made sure he was available when we had questions. We feel very lucky that Tracy was able to turn our "nightmare" project into a great experience! read more

Tracy came highly recommended to us, so much so that we did not speak to another contractor when we began the process of having our bathrooms renovated. Tracy brings a wealth of experience and realized our vision with very little direction. He asked specific questions when necessary and checked-in periodically but everything was so well organized that the entire renovation ran very smoothly. We were provided the opportunity to purchase our own materials and Tracy even advised on discounts on particular items when applicable. With every question we had, Tracy patiently responded thoughtfully - always sensitive to our budget or design concerns. Once Tracy's team began, my husband and I would rush home from work every day to see the latest progress. The work was done quickly but with exceptional attention to detail. And, every evening the team ensured our home was swept as clean as a work site could be. (We were living in our home during the renovation.) I was incredibly thankful and grateful for that. I would highly recommend Tracy and the wonderful team he employs for their professionalism, attention to detail, and great communication. I look forward to the next opportunity to work with Tracy again! I will definitely be calling him next time we have a renovation project! read more

Everybody told us we were crazy to start a remodel with 10 month old twins, but we decided to go for it anyway. We totally gutted a kitchen, bathroom, and extended the back of our house to create a new family room. We put our trust in Tracy and it paid off. Of course the process is stressful, but mostly it was fun. Tracy was great during the planning phase, his vast experience allowed him to think of lots of cool details and features we would have never thought of our selves. Before we started the renovation he gave us a clear schedule of when work would be started and completed. He was pretty much able to stick to the timeline he gave us throughout the remodel. Tracy is honest and his is most concerned with making sure his clients are happy over making an extra buck. Anytime we weren't happy about something (which is inevitable in such a large project) he worked hard to make it right. Working on an old house in Oakland can be tricky, Tracy and his crew's experience made this project possible. We were lucky to have moved out through all of the heavy construction. But when we did move back in with the babies the work crews were conscientious and worked their schedules around nap time. Special thanks to Jesus, Alfonso, Gustavo, Javier, the quirking guy that hauls the debris and garbage away. You guys helped make the renovation fun. I would absolutely recommend Tracy Anthony. read more

Hey Guys , I am very much questioning the reviews below , I had a terrible experience working with Tracy - he preformed a long project on my office in San Francisco , I had to fire him during his project due to the following reasons 1) it took him 2X his original estimated time 2) he did not pay his subs who came back to me complaining about him 3) he left a mechanical lean - I had to hire an attorney to get me out of this mess beware guys ! read more

Tracy's team did an awesome job. I was 7 months pregnant when we started renovations on our new condo, so they had to deal with a short time frame. They worked really well with a strict HOA & finished the project within the time they said they would. We worked a lot with Gustavo who was very nice, patient & has a great eye for detail. Anytime we emailed or called Tracy with questions, he responded in a timely manner. Tracy also worked well with our budget in helping us prioritize projects. These guys really know their stuff & our place turned out better than we imagined. read more

My clients just purchased a San Francisco home extensively remodeled by Tracy Anthony. This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The whole team was very professional. During the last few days while working on the punch list, I had the pleasure of working directly with Tracy. NOT a middlemen. He was accommodating and responsive even to last minute requests. As I was visiting the property daily, he was there making sure everything was done correctly with every subcontractor. I was impressed with this level of detail, quality control and the pride he took in his project. This single family home was redesigned and expanded with modern detail, while preserving the historic façade. My clients loved the open flow of the home for entertaining. The combination of the high ceiling, the chef's kitchen with two islands and all the tech toys was a perfect fit. I highly recommend Tracy Anthony. read more

My husband and I used Tracy for a full house remodel in 2016-2017. We took our entire house down to the studs and basically started from scratch. We chose Tracy based on his previous work and we were not disappointed. My husband and I still need to pinch ourselves from time to time because we can't believe we get to live in our house. It surpassed even our wildest expectations. I think the best thing I can say about Tracy is that we went through a year long, whole house remodel, and I like Tracy even more now than when we started. We have had to have him come back for a few small things since moving back into our house, and he has been good about getting back to us and fixing the small things. I think that says a lot about his pride of workmanship. read more

My best experience with a contractor yet! We asked Tracy to put in an Accordion Door in our dining room. This involved knocking out a wall with three windows, adding a header and some reframing. He did an excellent job and I am a perfectionist! Tracy and his team did everything to my standards. Gustavo and Javier were excellent, as they were the ones at my home most of the time. Gustavo's takes pride in his work and pays attention to every detail. They managed all the trades and getting all the permits. We are very happy and would not only recommend Tracy, but would absolutely call him for any future work. read more

Tracy doesn't just move from job to job, he builds a relationship with his clients which is rare among contractors. Yesterday, we had a break-in at our house & needed a basement door replaced A.S.A.P. I called numerous handy-man services to get the door replaced, but they were either too busy or didn't return my calls. I was desperate when I texted Tracy, who had done a major remodel on our house last year, to see if any of his guys could replace the door for us. Tracy immediately texted back, asked if we were o.k. & had one of his wonderful guys replace our door the same day. We are extremely grateful for Tracy's help and his continued friendship. read more

We are so glad we hired Tracy and his team! They thoughtfully collaborated with us on a remodel for our 1960s ranch style home, including raising our entry hall ceiling, completely tearing out and rebuilding our kitchen from the wall studs, merging our new kitchen with our dining room, adjusting the alignment of our central hallway, and outfitting our garage with dedicated laundry and workshop spaces. And along the way they upgraded the plumbing and electrical service for the areas they remodeled. Their experienced guidance enabled us to maximize every inch of our smaller ranch footprint and has changed our experience of living in this home. Tracy and his team have a detailed eye for design that informs every aspect of the build-out process. They were always there for us and not afraid to point out when they thought we needed to change course on design decisions, vendors and/or materials. For Tracy and his team, doing their best work for us with materials we loved was always their top priority. They showed up on time, stuck to the schedule, protected our home like it was their own, and worked within our budget with open communication about options and changes. The result was to create an amazing, unique space for us, and our home would not be the same without them. They are really nice people too - exactly who you want to perform your remodel. We engaged Tracy and his team to build a 4500 sq. ft fully-custom, Tuscan-style dream-home for us in Pleasanton. They completed the home for us in a record time to accommodate our personal constraints, building an impressive, show-case home with unprecedented level of flexibility in our options and customization along the way at a very fair and competitive budget. The end product is simply stunning and continues to leave all our guests super-impressed! Tracy is the kinda guy you get comfortable around from the moment you meet with him - simply professional, honest and down-to-earth. While it did take us a while to get comfortable with the budgeting process, Tracy was able to gain our trust fairly quickly. With his experience building such homes, he was instrumental in value engineering the home from the design phase through completion. He took care of all the paperwork and bureaucracy in dealing with city officials to get our designs approved with minimal changes. Tracy brought a cross-functional team of professionals from architects, structural engineers, framers, craftsmen to painters, plumbers, cabinet makers and landscapers - a team he has worked with on other projects and a team that could be trusted to do a quality job. But he also had other vendors bid on the contracts to ensure he was getting a fair and competitive price for us. Tracy was personally on the job site literally every day to guide his team and was always willing to meet with us at the site when we felt the need to do so. He accompanied us to supplier warehouses for material selection and gave us excellent recommendations (we ended up relying on him for several interior design suggestions for our home. We also had Tracy complete the landscape design and installation for us close to heels of completion, basically giving us a 'ready to move in' custom-built home. Tracy has been super-responsive throughout this project and continues to provide top-notch service post completion. This has been a fascinating journey for us and we thank Tracy and his team for working patiently with us and creating a wonderful home for us on budget, on-time and with impressive quality. Tracy and his team just finished remodeling my house in Moraga (passed final inspection yesterday!). They did a beautiful job and everyone was professional and pleasant to work with. Alfonso, the field supervisor, did the day-to-day management and was most experienced and quick with problem solving. All the subs are great, too! For example, Beto, the electrician was not only skillful but also patient. He and his crew did a wonderful job with a very extensive and complicated lighting plan. They also upgraded the electrical panel and tolerated quite well the painful process with PGE. Tracy himself is very easy to work with -- resourceful, responsive, and smart! He held our hands when we needed hand-holding, and when not on site replied in timely fashion to every one of our numerous - occasionally anxious - eMails and phone calls! He loves his work, and it showed in his suggestions of materials and design elements and in his team's professionalism and enthusiasm. His team were friendly, polite, happily explained what they were doing, and did excellent work - the result speaks for itself.
