Let me start off to say that I have taken almost 500 classes via classpass and through other studios all over the country, and I have to say that the sculpt class taught by Katia was amazing. Plus: instructor's enthusiasm, overall energy, music, moves, and structure of the class was all cohesive and layed out very well. I was looking for a sculpting class that would build lean muscles instead of bulk me up and this class definitely did it's job. There was constant movement, so you also got a decent cardio burn as well during the class. Cons: Space. At times, it felt so hot in the room, so not sure if they had their aircon on. But hey that allowed me to sweat all my impurities out. As with all classes via classpass, I measure my overall satisfaction based on 2 things--did I walk out of the class or would i purchase a class (gasp now, outside of the classpass membership). For this studio and especially this sculpt class I would definitely purchase classes outside of class pass. Good job Katia, keep up the good work!

(My only caveat is that I don't really use the locker rooms, sauna, or pool so I can't speak to those facilities. And the roof decks are closed while the building facades are being repaired, so disregarding that now as well.)

I was very disappointed when they unpaused yes my subscription without notifying me and started charging me the $90 a month without me even realizing. Yes, it did say in the fine print that if you paused, they would, unpause you after a certain number of months, but certainly there should've been some kind of reminder sent out or some type of notification letting me know that my subscription had started up again. I thought I was being kind by pausing rather than just canceling the subscription,(showing that I definitely was going to go back once I healed) but after this deceptive kind of charge, I will definitely not be going back. I hsd a lot more success with P90X workouts anyway.

If you are trying to sell your dvds to the non madonnas and gweneths - would suggest to dumb it down a bit. And never write anyone off - cardinal rule of marketing.

I took a group class that combined all three into an intense one hour class. The boxing with dummies was probably my favorite part! You'll need to purchase hand wraps (which you may keep for future classes) for the boxing portion of the class. This is an instructor led class. Sometimes hard to hear over the loud music, but I liked that the instructor walks around in case you have questions. Expect to sweat a lot! Check in at the desk and head downstairs to the studio. You might be greeted by the owners two dogs that wander around the place. The locker rooms have showers and changing areas. They also have a hair dryer, spray deodorant, hair ties, razors - basically everything you'll need to refresh after a tough workout! I spent about three and a half months at The Pack taking 3-4 classes a week. First off, the…read moreclasses are some of the most expensive in the city ($42 for drop in although you can get them a little cheaper with a membership or class pack). You rotate through weight lifting at the benches, boxing with a bob (a rubber fake man that moves a bit when you punch him), and the assault bikes. Except for the bob, the workout wasn't anything I couldn't do on my own at the gym and very rarely when I finished did I feel like I'd taken a "killer class" like I do at some other studios. I didn't feel there was enough core work for a 50 minute class and also I'm a horrible boxer and while there were general instructions, I didn't feel like I got enough individual pointers. Despite the fact that the Pack has been open nearly a year, the choice of classes was a bit limited. A number of classes are already listed in the schedule as "waitlisted" and are never truly open for signups. Typically around 6 classes a day are available (3 -4 on the weekends) but sometimes a class doesn't get enough people and is cancelled last minute. This was almost always true for the sculpt classes that may have offered more core work. It may look at first like the classes are almost full because they only open the benches first and if those spots fill, then they open the bob spots and finally the bikes. Pretty much the only classes that run regularly are those taught by cofounder, co-owner, and lead instructor Noah. At first I liked Noah's classes, but as I took more classes, it became very clear that Noah didn't value me as a client. The tag line at The Pack is "Everybody has a purpose at the Pack" which is meant to inspire community, but I came to realize that my only purpose as far as Noah was concerned was to give him my money. I was looking for a community and probably would have taken more classes if I'd felt a part of one, but while the other instructors were supportive of me, Noah was not and constantly made me feel unwelcome. Apparently Noah has ADHD. So do I. Except that I don't talk about it all the time the way that Noah does. It's fine to talk about it a lot if that's your thing, but I found it very off putting that Noah would often speak as if his experience represented everyone's with respect to ADHD. The Pack has challenges every so often where you can earn rewards. I love challenges and did the one in spring where I was supposed to receive three free classes and a pair of gloves for completing 12 classes. I did get the free classes but I never got the gloves. An email said something about the gloves still being manufactured but after two months I still hadn't gotten them and it was very disappointing to not receive the entire prize that I was promised. There is also a run club at The Pack, but it excludes slower runners. Although I am a competitive runner, I didn't feel this attitude was appropriate. Everyone has to start somewhere. The one time I did stay with a slower runner, she thanked me profusely for staying with her and making her feel included. Even though this person was one of The Pack's more regular clients, Noah didn't seem to care about actually including her. After that I stopped going to the run club altogether while I was finishing up the class pack that I deeply regretted having bought. After I finally finished all my classes, I promptly left The Pack and moved on to a different studio where the classes are indeed "killer" and the studio owner makes it clear that she respects me and values me.

The word intensive is there for a reason! Not intensive like someone yelling at you boot camp…read morestyle, or intensive like you hobble out of the studio with your lower back in knots. Intensive is the level of attention you get from your instructor. This isn't McDonald's style pilates town. This is old school, European gymnasium precision and dignity -- this practice honors your attendance, your commitment and the safety of your body without making it a bore. And it's rigorous and inventive. I can't recommend this place highly enough -- go see for yourself. As a side note, the space is spacious and pristine, with a purple zen vibe that caps off an already terrific experience.

The online signup is easy to navigate and straighforward. Point. Click. Get confirmation via email. Show up and go workout. The trainer, Leon is nice on the eyes but man oh man does his playlist suck! They play better workout music in Old Navy. The other trainer, Stacy works you a lot harder than Leon does. Leon is all about the ladies or maybe the ladies are all about Leon. I guess its not his fault he's so chocolate and cute, blame his mama & daddy and their exceptional Jamaican dna. Either way, the workout is way more intense, & there's way more direct instruction and less distractions when Stacy comes through. When I say rain or shine I mean that I will see you if the sun is shining and/or its not raining. When they say rain or shine they really mean we will be here in the park under the trees, soaking wet, doing pushups and risking electrocution by lightning NO MATTER WHAT. Most of the workout takes place on a mound and its hard working out on a grassy incline. Some of the moves cant really be done effectively or safely on a dirt/grass hill because your feet keep slipping and even moreso when its raining. Maybe this is supposed to add to the resistance (?). All in all the workout is challenging and the instructors are motivating, helpful and not condescending. The class is made up of all women of varying ages, sizes and athletic ability. One woman even brings her little son sometimes. He sits in the back and colors or reads or comes up front and does his own version of the workout so thts cool. I have like a thousand kids so its great to know that I have the option of bringing them with me. *Im not even 100% sure there names are Leon and Stacy but Im sure Im at least pretty close. I do not enjoy keeping fit and I am a bigger girl but I felt great after completing boot camp. The only reason I am not giving NYC Adventure Bootcamp five stars is that it is no longer offered in the evenings. I simply cannot make the 5:30am class but would return in a heartbeat if there were other schedule options.

I was a bit surprised by the lack of people in the class -- we only had about 7 for a 7:10am class. However, given that it's the week of July 4th, people may have been out of town. The space itself is really cool, and I love the free cold brew. The studio was clean, and the fitness room was well-equipped. My major beef and the reason I took off a star? THERE ARE NO SHOWERS. For $35/class, there should be a shower! Fortunately, as an Equinox member, I was able to go to the Soho location and shower there. But why not have at least a few showers here? What about those who don't have shower access at nearby gyms or don't live in the neighborhood?
