On par with the likes of Ailey Extention and EXPG but with an even more extensive variety of classes from samba and hip hop to limon and ballet. Love the open schedule with classes that begins early and end late. The reality is I caught dance fever awhile ago and havnt been able to shake it...so I just shake it uptown, down and around, always on the lookout for what's good.... Dance studios are better than a gym in my opinion but I'm a cardio freak. Peridance in particular offers a work study option for y'all rich wif time but broke on dough. Lastly, in a mouthful- this spots got seriously amazing instructors, kind peer dance students and fun yet effective classes to stimulate the novice to the profesh dancer. Have fun in life and come here if dancing and fitness matters to you!

Proud Faculty - the facility affords large enough rooms for group classes yet secure enough for individual adjustments . The schedule allows dancers of all ages, and backgrounds to attend classes throughout the entire day to fit into the eclectic agenda of NewYorkers and visiting dancers . The faculty empowers the dancers to reach their full potential and more! This is NOT a warehouse as other large studios tend to be- this is your dance home in NYC! The staff and even the crew at Peridance care, that your experience is memorable- everyday! As I teach all around the city, this is definitely One of the favorites-come join us and really experience dance in NYC as you dreamed it can be

They have a schedule updated monthly, with separate sign-up options for both member and non-members. As a non member, I paid for the drop-in class, which was $25. The class runs for an hour with around 10+ students, where an instructor first starts up with a quick warm-up and then jumps into teaching you a choreo to the song. The choreo is broken into several routines, so you learn them slowly in detail, and then piece them all together with the song incrementally. Dancing is as challenging for your brain as it is for your body, as you need to really exercise your memory and mind body coordination! The whole class went by super fast. Everyone who went seemed to be regulars and quite experienced, but you'd be too busy trying to master the dance to care. At the end, we are placed into two groups, where we are given a chance to perform and record ourselves. DivaDance emphasizes community as they have a whole FB group where you can see past dance classes and meet new members as well! I met some cool friendly people my first time and I'd totally attend more classes in the future!

This time, I took class with Amber, and she is truly a 10 out of 10 -- from her character to her teaching style, choreography, and ability to educate dancers in real time. She doesn't just teach steps; she teaches movement vocabulary and helps you understand how to inhabit the choreography as it unfolds. That presence and clarity make the experience special. A lot of what I enjoy about Sass Class comes down to both the choreographers and the energy of the space. That said, there are some practical considerations. There is no elevator, which can be challenging because of the number of stairs you have to go up and down. The studio itself is small but functional. There's a small waiting area, a check-in desk, two bathrooms, and a spot to quickly change if needed. There are two studios, which allows classes to run smoothly without feeling crowded. The location is central, not far from Moynihan Train Hall or Port Authority, and there are plenty of food options nearby for before or after class. Overall, SASS Class continues to be a space I value. I fully intend to take more classes there in the future. For me, it's about the quality of instruction, the intentionality of the movement, and the community -- and that keeps drawing me back.

Learning from a retired company member was such a great honor. The adult open modern class is every Thursday night and is $20/class. The class size in this studio school is very small and offers quite a different experience from most other much more crowded dance classes in Manhattan. Expect to be called on by your first name and receive a lot of personal attention and constructive criticism. Also unlike other dance classes, you will have a warm-up and learn a string of short pieces (instead of one long piece of choreography) with each short piece incorporating and concentrating on at least one Paul Taylor signature move. Being able to learn these characteristic moves that I had just watched the company perform on stage was both interesting and rewarding. It seems like these pieces are taught and redone week after week rather than being expanded on which may be preferable for some. The class is also taught with live music, which always makes the dance process much more stimulating. While the room is large and contains many windows, the downside is the lack of mirrors. This may be a personal preference, but I like to be able to watch the instructor, other dancers, and my own body in the mirror to be able to compare and self-correct. Learning the choreography not by watching the instructor's reflection in the mirror, but by copying her mirror image while she faced us, was something that took some time to get used to. Likelihood of another visit: I may go back!

I came here recently to take a Burlesque Jazz dance class taught by Tony Guerrero. My friend brought me here with her, I probably never would think to come here if it weren't for her. My friend had been coming to this studio for years. I'll get the bad out of the way first. I am a bit of a germaphobe so having to touch the same floor that probably thousands of other feet have sweated on during the floor parts of the warm up routine, I was like NOoooOOOooOOOooOO inside anyway lol I still did it. I know it won't kill me but still I was like ew lol The pricing is pretty reasonable, it was $29 for an hour and a half long class. There's a hefty warm up routine that Tony leads you through before getting into the actual choreography. It's been two days since I took that class, and somehow I'm more sore today than yesterday LOL it had been a while since I last exercised to be fair. But this is a good thing though, you're basically getting a work out class and a dance class all in one! It's easy to why Tony does this for a living, he seems to really enjoy what he does. He was so energetic and was making funny jokes the whole time. I would definitely consider myself a beginner beginner, so I was slow to pick up the choreography but it really didn't matter, you just have to be close enough, you don't have to do everything perfectly! It was a lot of fun, I would totally go again with my friend if she invited me again. Also a tip, my friend told me that people don't usually wear sneakers to these things so she told me to either wear heeled dancing shoes or just dance in my socks, so I opted for the latter. I don't think this is really true because I saw other people in the class wear their sneakers so I wish I kept my shoes on haha but it's fine, it fun nonetheless! I would recommend a dance class here with your friends for a fun time. Also this way you have someone to take a video of you doing the choreo later instead of having to ask a stranger

Another friend had taken classes at this academy before and highly recommended it, so the three of us booked an Introduction to Ballet class on Sunday at 12:00. Check-in was quick and easy. The class was $25 for an hour and a half, which I think is very reasonable considering it's from an actual ballet school. There's no strict dress code, which worked out well since none of us owned ballet attire -- we just wore regular workout clothes and socks, and it was perfectly fine. The instructor was wonderful. She started by asking who had never taken ballet before, then positioned the newer students between people with experience so it would be easier to follow along. I really appreciated that, as I have no dance background and definitely found myself lost more than once. Having people around me to follow made it much less intimidating. The class itself was energetic and fun. The instructor was patient, encouraging, and made sure to keep things approachable for beginners. I'm sure my form was atrocious and I messed up plenty of times, but nobody cared -- the atmosphere was supportive and welcoming, and everyone was just there to enjoy themselves and keep trying. The class had people of all different skill levels and abilities, and it felt very inclusive. Overall, this was a great introduction class, especially for someone nervous about trying something new. I never once felt self-conscious, and I genuinely had fun. I'd highly recommend this academy to anyone looking to take dance classes, whether you have experience or not.
