It's a great studio if you want to feel the burn. My only suggestion would be to make the shoe policy more consistent. Clients are encouraged to enter the room either barefoot or wearing grip socks, but instructors are allowed to wear outside shoes in the same space. I feel this is inconsistent and not the most sanitary.

Lots of mirrors (all over the gym actually) and the lighting is perfect for those selfie addicts(like myself). They offer cryotherapy! I love cryo!! So good for you!! It's extremely cold, but you do get used to it! Definitely recommend giving it a try! The dim lighting, and awesome upbeat music, make this place perfect to workout in. I felt so much motivation when I was there. Also, people don't bother you when you workout, and you are never waiting for a machine which is such a plus! The trainers are wonderful as well. Tribeca at One York was my first doorway in, delayed by Hurricane Sandy, and walking into that studio felt like the beginning of something. I'm pretty sure my first class was with Rebecca Kennedy, and I left blown away, humbled, and very close to throwing up. Barry's earns its reputation the hard way: inside the Red Room, the workout becomes a negotiation with your lungs, legs, and pride. It is still brutal, and it takes commitment, usually several classes close together, before you feel even halfway decent in there. Life and budget have kept me away for 18 months, so if I walked into class tomorrow, I know exactly how humbled I would be. The work is punishing, intentional, and never cruel. The running has always set Barry's apart: Woodway treadmills made it smoother, sharper, and more athletic than anything else I was doing. I still remember Rebecca using "treaders," a funny little word that later disappeared from the instructor lexicon and somehow still makes me nostalgic. My favorite class was Butt and Legs; I'm sure Abs and Ass has a smart rationale, but that old format had magic: visible results, better running, real strength, and a more athletic body. Noho took what hooked me at Tribeca and showed where the brand was going. The studio was larger, the floor plan was better, and the experience felt like the prototype for how Barry's could scale while keeping its heat. It felt perfectly appropriate that Barry's Noho sat across from Indochine, as if downtown glamour, discipline, sweat, and scene had agreed to share the same block. Tribeca gave me the origin story; Noho gave me the blueprint. Barry Jay once said something close to this: Barry's was like a nightclub without the drugs, alcohol, and traps that can come with those environments. That has always felt right to me: the dark room, the music, the bodies, and the energy dialed up and down like treadmill speed. Barry's carried me through marathon training, brutal work seasons, and bosses I will be diplomatic about here. More than once, it helped me keep getting up and keep going when life made that incredibly difficult. Some mornings, the Red Room did more for my sanity than coffee, a calendar full of high profile meetings, or a well meaning pep talk ever could. I would run, lift, sweat through all of my clothes, and walk back into the city feeling more like myself. Watching the brand grow has been its own pleasure: Barry's retained instructor quality across markets, turned front desk talent into coaches, earned recognition in smaller cities, and moved its merch upmarket. I worked uptown around the investment circles that eventually backed Barry's, and I remember seeing the pitch book before North Castle's investment. Barry Jay's class at Tribeca, and the original West Hollywood studio with beige linoleum tile and tiny beige lockers, reminded me that the workout built the brand before the brand became glossy. The ventilation is poor and they have fans going in the Women's. While they have all the toiletries you'd need, there are only 3 showers. So expect to wait for one if it's a packed class. The hair dryers kept automatically stopping every ~5 min bc the power strip kept turning off for some reason, which was a bit annoying. The shower/locker area gets packed quick when there are lots of ppl inside. The Red Room is also a bit on the smaller side. All the lighter weights are in a back sliver of the room, so I'd recommend to book a spot away from the corners of the room, unless you don't mind crowds by your spot after each circuit. Overall, like many folks have said, I've been to nicer, larger Barry's locations. Their Chelsea location is my favorite of the few I've been to.

Fortunately for my sanity, I just scheduled a regular 50 minute Run x Lift class here on a Monday (arms & abs day). When you enter, they've almost a lounge like area right at the front and as you keep walking, you will see the Fuel Bar along the wall. Past that is a hallway, which has the locker rooms. I did not get to check out much of that part because I quickly had to throw my things in a locker to make it to class on time, but the entire studio itself does seem large. From what I've been told, there are two classrooms at the Barry's. One for the standard Run x Lift format (has floor spots and treadmills), and one for a new class format that is strictly lifting (so just floor spots). The class itself I took was great and I loved the instructor. Afterwards, the staff outside greeted me with smiled and thanked me for coming. Really excited for this new addition to the NYC Barry's community!

Barry's is energetic & will push you to your limits. The music and coach will keep you pumped throughout class. The class is a balance between cardio on the treadmill to on the floor doing strength training with weights. In one class I burned about 600 calories! The locker rooms are equipped with showers, towels, and Ouai products. Bring your own deodorant and sunscreen. They have a hair dryer, Qtips, and tampons for women. Lockers can be found inside and outside locker rooms. Just set a combination code. There is also a water refill station. After class stick around and order a smoothie or snack at the bar. Seating a bit limited but most take items to go. You can also purchase some Barry's merch like T shirts, sweatshirts, water bottles. Great addition to the FiDi neighborhood!

Your first shoe rental is free and the staff helped me find the perfect size as well as strap me into the bike pedals. Class was fast paced and had a great playlist. I enjoyed it despite not being a huge cycling fan. I do wish a bit more instruction was provided on cycling form and the different terms used/how to adjust resistance but other than that it was a great experience.

My go-to instructor is John T. on Saturdays! He has great energy throughout the class + does a great job at instructing both bikes + floor simultaneously. Unlike RUN x LIFT classes, 25 min is spent at bikes/floor, then you switch once. The lightest weights for their RIDE x LIFT classes is 8lbs. Staff here is nice and helpful, especially in setting up the new studio bikes. First pair of shoes are free, then it's $3 rental afterwards (cheaper than SoulCycle). They can be used for both bike + floor.

His gym is incredibly clean and organized. Doesn't smell like sweat and equipment looks and feels clean every time I go. His workout sessions are well thought out, and he pushed you to work harder. With a class of 8, I didn't feel like I was left out of the group. Parking and traffic around the area are not as difficult as I thought (drives a 7 passenger and lives in Flushing). There's plenty of meters and a garage close by. I find street parking every time I attend. His gym is also walking distance from some very good restaurants nearby, so that's another plus. Overall, I highly recommend Chinatown Flow to anyone who is looking for a clean, organized, fun, and motivating instructor.

The studio requires you to bring wear socks, or if you forget to bring a pair, offer some for purchase in the far left of the studio. The space has other merchandise for sale like exercise tops, a restroom for students, hooks and cubbies for storage, mirrors all along one wall and windows letting in a ton of natural light along the other. The windows and mirrors truly make this space gorgeous and relaxing. The class was challenging and called for lots of small movements and holds, but it was exciting as the routine was very dynamic and we moved on from things often. The instructor gave me helpful hands on adjustments and was sweet and motivational. I'd come here again!
