Just wanted to share our experience with Moo Farms Animal Rescue so other people can be aware before adopting from them.
A few months ago, we adopted a cat from Moo Farms Animal Rescue at the Tractor Supply in Wallingford, CT. We paid around $200 for him. At the adoption event, they had probably 20-30 cats together in a pretty small catio/enclosure.
Not long after bringing our cat home, we realized he had fleas. Of course, those fleas then spread to our other two cats, so now all three cats needed to be treated.
I reached out to Alyssa about it and she apologized and told me they couldn't refund us, but that they would give us a month's worth of flea treatment for our other two cats to make up for it. Fine, I was willing to accept that.
We never got it.
I also realized we never received the paperwork for the cat we adopted. I've reached out to Alyssa multiple times over the last few months trying to get it. Sometimes I would get told she was busy, other times I would just get no response at all. I've tried multiple times to handle everything directly with them and get what we were supposed to receive, and I've basically been ghosted.
And now we're dealing with even more.
All three of our cats are currently having to be treated because the cat we adopted from them also had worms, which spread to our other two cats. So what started with fleas has now turned into more vet visits, medications, treatment, and expenses for THREE cats.
I'm beyond frustrated at this point.
We absolutely love the cat we adopted and none of this is his fault. I'm glad he's with us and getting the care he needs. But the way everything has been handled by Alyssa and Joe/Moo Farms Animal Rescue has been extremely disappointing.
I'm not posting this to start drama or tell anyone not to rescue an animal. I'm posting it because I would want someone to tell me this before I adopted from a rescue.
If you're thinking about adopting from Moo Farms, PLEASE make sure you get all of the cat's paperwork and veterinary records before you leave, ask what flea/deworming treatments they've actually received, and if you have other animals at home, I would personally keep the new animal separated until you've had them checked by your own vet.
I really hope nobody else has to bring home an animal thinking everything is fine and then end up treating every pet in their house while also chasing the rescue for paperwork and getting ignored. Tractor Supply is continuing to allow them to hold adoption events there.
Just please be careful ! read more
