Since a lot of local pharmacies have recently closed, I went to Walmart to pick up my medications yesterday after receiving a text notification that the prescription was sent in by my provider. The pharmacy technician was kind, but the interaction I had with the pharmacist ended up being like nothing I've ever experienced. After explaining that I do have insurance but that I often can pay a lower price for my medications using an Rx coupon card, my information was run through the system. The pharmacist asked me to come to the window, explaining that despite using the discount card in place of insurance, my insurance card was still required. I provided the insurance card immediately and the pharmacist kept it in hand for the next few minutes. I was called to the window again by the pharmacist where she explained that one of my prescriptions was sent to Rite Aid as well. I explained to her that yes, my provider initially sent my prescription to Rite Aid, but since the store is closing, they notified me via phone that they would be unable to refill the prescription. Therefore, my doctor sent the prescription to Walmart instead. After I explained the situation, she understood. I have NO clue what caused this, but here comes the ludicrous behavior -- The pharmacist returned to the counter, called me over, handed me my insurance card back, and said "So...I just wanted to let you know I will not be refilling your prescription here today". I asked her if she could explain to me why so I'd be aware of any issue that might be a barrier to refilling my prescription at a different pharmacy. The pharmacist grew agitated and said "I'm not refilling your script because you're not being truthful! You're not telling the truth!". I asked her what i hadn't been truthful about. She said "you LIED, you said you didn't have insurance and you DO". I paused, genuinely confused, and said "...but you JUST handed me back my insurance card. I told you and the pharmacy technician that I have insurance, just that my medication is more affordable with the coupon code I've been using (for 3+ YEARS) at my previous pharmacy)". She waved her arms in the air at me and started to walk away. I asked her again, "Just to clarify, you're not going to refill my medication because you said i wasn't truthful about having insurance, but you just handed me back my insurance card that I gave to you to input the information?". The pharmacist said "you LIED you said you didn't have insurance and that's why I'm not refilling your prescription here today or EVER. Find another pharmacy". I'm sitting here still feeling baffled at the experience I had with this pharmacist. I've ran through it a few times in my head and still don't understand where the accusations came from claiming i lied about having insurance. I also have no idea where this woman's hostility came from. My medication was due for refill, I arrived to pick up the medication after it was sent over by my doctor, and was shouted at with false accusations continually (despite me maintaining my patience and not returning the aggression). I understand we all have bad days, but this pharmacist's behavior was completely unacceptable and caused absolute disgust within my doctor's office when i told them what happened, as well as some of her coworkers who had a visual reaction to her behavior. I will NEVER go to this pharmacy again and I hope no one has to deal with this woman in this way ever again either. If a medical provider is prescribing a patient their medication, the patient should NOT face accusations, judgement, or dismissal from the person whose job it is to dispense the medication. I'm so disgusted and I hope no one ever has an encounter like this, but please be cautious with this pharmacy if you're looking to find a new one - would NOT recommend.... read more

What I like about Walmart is they have a huge selection of merchandise, and whatever I buy is cheaper than other stores I would shop at. Their return policies are great, and I never had a problem with my returns. Being a Supercenter they are also a grocery store where you can always find bargains. I have also done online shopping at Walmart with no issues. It's basically one stop shopping with huge savings. read more

As far as Walmarts go, this one is really pretty good! I often do my grocery shopping here, and find that the shelves are generally pretty well stocked (compared to other Walmart stores that I've been to). I've also found the employees fairly helpful and pleasant. I've noticed recently that an employee is stationed at every entrance/exit checking receipts, which I find a little annoying. Overall I find the store to be clean and I can pretty much get everything I need in one trip. read more

Cool new feature ! I used to have to go wayyyyyy the back of this store to pick up my small items I would order online so I didn't have to search for it that day . Today I was pleasantly surprised to see the new way upfront in the store. You find the Ready to Pick Up Email sent to you and scan your smart phone or enter your info on this kiosk and it comes out the machine . Very cool. They only deal with smaller items (shoebox size) but it is easy and unique . I will order alot more now that they have this . read more

The past few times I ordered Walmart Delivery from this store I never even received the delivery. They don't answer the phone most of the time in that department and when they did answer once I asked them where my delivery was. They hung up on me. My order was 4 hours late at that point. Tonight, my order never showed up again. They should call customers to let them know when there is a problem but they have zero communication. They just blow off the deliveries. read more

Post from my brother in-law-- We had a very bad experience at the Wallingford Walmart. I'm not naming the family member due to embarrassment. This is a copy of the email sent to Walmart corporate office. We will no longer be shopping at Walmart. We wanted to complain about your Walmart in Wallingford Connecticut. A family member was in line and asked twice to please go in and use your bathroom and come back out because they were going to have an accident. The man was very rude. Our family member ended up pooping in their pants by accident in front of everyone in line. The man was laughing. They were also treating my wife like she was stupid and didn't understand English because she has dark skin. The only thing good I have to say about this store is that the shelves have product on them where other Walmarts in the area dont. That said there isn't much else that this place offers. The employees are a miserable bunch. The greeters at the front are scary. They never smile, and act as though they could care less about your business. The pickers that roam the floors are only there to get in the way of shoppers and rude doesn't even begin to describe them. No pride in workmanship and workwomanship. What an operation. read more

I have found that the Wallingford Walmart Supercenter is similar to the DMV, my ex girlfriend, and the dentist; they are all things that you have to deal with in one way or another due to unplanned circumstances and you're definitely going to leave the interaction more annoyed. I came here for an HDMI cable and went to buy it, plus a power strip. I got to the register and it turned out the power strip was not the $10 it was advertised as, but actually $30. After asking the customer service manager to honor the price they advertised, he refused, so 15 minutes later I left with the HDMI cable. When I got home it was clear this cable was trashgarbage and didn't work, so I had to go back again to return it. Waste of time and brain cells. You may have to go here... it is walmart after all. But you will not enjoy it. This will not be fun for you. read more

I'm quite surprised by all the low ratings for this place - maybe I just happened to visit this place on one of its rare good days. Nonetheless, I must say I was quite impressed! This place is HUGE. It just goes on and on and on and on and on....It's like a Costco combined with Michaels, Safeway, and K-mart - all at Walmart prices! They have everything from a large produce and snacks section to a large arts and crafts selection. There's an ENDLESS assortment of items to choose from. Need a bike? Need rainboots? Need videogames? Need fruits? Need decorations for an upcoming holiday? Need a mega-sized box of 48 Poptarts??! FORTY-EIGHT. WHO SELLS THAT MANY POPTARTS IN ONE BOX?!? They've got it ALL. Unbelievable. Seriously, this should be renamed to The Miscellaneous Store. It's like an All-You-Can-Buy Buffet! I stopped by the Walmart in Wallingford a few weeks back while on my way to a friend's house where I was going to be spending the weekend; he needed a few things for the party and asked me to get them. Bad mistake stopping at THIS particular store... Parking is a nightmare: people who can't drive are trying to get into and out of parking spaces with NO consideration for anyone else. Inside, people are swarming all over the place, little children running around unsupervised, screeching at the top of their lungs .There's a porter with long hair standing around talking to some people while holding/ leaning on his broom instead of working. Meantime, there's a disabled couple looking at the ONE mart cart left (which the gentleman lets his wife have while he has to hobble alongside her), So I go on to the grocery section to get what I need, and several of the aisles have bare spots in them. So I figure I'll get them later after I touch down at my friend's place. But that's not the worst part. As I'm looking for paper towels, I see the couple again with the man trying to get a bag of cat food in the pet-food aisle, and the porter (same guy from up front) comes blazing through with the broom and almost runs them over!! The the porter starts giving the poor guy a hard time about "us employees are here to help you", and the gentleman is trying to get out of the porter's way (narrow aisle). His wife is getting upset by all of this, and I think they just cut their shopping trip short and paid for what they had because of this jerk! I tried to find a manager, but after asking about one and getting a blank look, I had about enough and left without buying a thing. After I got to my friend's place, I told him about what happened, and he said that was "common" there, and says that "the porter likes to harass people he doesn't like" when I told him about the incident. Needless to say: after this, I'm not coming back to this store. It's an insane asylum with rude people, incompetent/ harassing employees, no stock, and a parking that requires you to risk your life. read more

This is my favorite Walmart store around. The store is open 24 hours which makes it really convenient. I find if you go during the day, it's busy and there's long lines. There's a great selection of merchandise in almost every department in the store. One store to do all our shopping needs - household, beauty, grocery. The self checkout area, now near 2 exits in the store, is very convenient as well. read more

I am not the type to ever write reviews, but this is worst Walmart in the US. I wish there was something below the one star. Customer service was not helpful at all and very rude!!!! I placed an order online for pick up. I received the conformation for the item that I paid for. The online order that was that I placed would be ready for pick up the same day but DONT come to the store until I receive an email stating its ready for pick up. The problem is, they never sent the email. When I called customer service, I was on hold for 2 hours before someone answered and hung up the phone. And I know they heard me on the line saying hello. When I called back, no one answered the phone. I then went to the store to try to find the item. The the customer service people I spoke to said, there was nothing they can do, and they do not know where the item that I PAID for was. When I asked if they can track it down and give me what I PAID for. There response was they have nothing to do with online orders. Even though I was supposed to pick up the item from this location. With the rude customer service and them not being able to locate online orders, I'M DONE WITH WALMART!!!! I will be writing more reviews and contacting the BBB. read more

Awful experience. Very unorganized due to the plastic bag tax so if you bring your own bags they don't help at all. I shouldn't feel like I work there. I did more work than the cashier and when I went to talk to a manager. I was talked to very rudely and was told don't come back if I don't like their system but they have no system. This place is big and has a lot of useful items, but it's not worth the hassles of parking, navigating the aisles or dealing with so many sour employees. The shoppers are no bargain, either. Parking: The lot is akin to midtown Manhattan, cars and people everywhere. From those who double park to those who walk in the middle of the driving lane, it's a nightmare. The crosswalk is aggravating, too. I don't mind waiting for pedestrians to cross, but a young man should be able to pull up his pants long enough so as to not move at a snail's pace. Some people move so slow as they cross and, worse, stare at you as they do, as if daring you to beep or yell at them. It's confrontational at best. Aisles/Shoppers: Some people have no sense of personal space. In fact, a few will even bump you if it means getting to the last sale can of Lysol. Also, beware the aisle-blocking shopper ... the ones who are blocking the aisle, know you're coming and still remain idle until you say "excuse me" before finally moving. Sadly, it seems the terms "please", "thank you" and "excuse me" are not a part of many shoppers' terminology. Employees: There are some pleasant faces. But not many. One older woman who works at the customer self-checkout center seems easily agitated by customers who seek her assistance. If people bother you so much, then perhaps customer service isn't your bag?! The bag checkers are mostly pleasant, although there are a few who likely picture themselves as RoboCop, demanding receipts for those unbagged swimming noodles. read more

I am more of a Target girl myself, but the fact that Wal*Mart is open 24 hrs/day is definitely a draw for me! And their grocery section always has some bargains. For example, their frozen foods (veggies, lean cuisines, etc) are always cheaper than the grocery store's sale prices. it's worth the trip. But as some other reviewers noted, this Wal*Mart does get a little sketchy after 9pm. For one, the aisles become a "warzone," filled with pallettes and staff members with carts going by every few minutes. I find I constantly have to "step aside" to let them by so they can do their job. It can get annoying, but it's manageable. Also, after 9pm you are definitely going to run into sketchy people. On more than one occasion I've seen people in verbal altercations at the self-checkout. It can get a little scary at times. And one time while I was at the self-checkout, this woman who has 7 cases of canned catfood was checking herself out. I had to sit there and wait for 20 MINUTES while she scanned over 100 individual cans of food. I wanted to strangle her. But, stupid people aren't Wal*Mart's fault, I suppose. These inconveniences wouldn't make me stop going there for a minute. The staff is friendly and they have what I want, so I'm there. read more

Before I begin my review I need to say something may potentially lose me a few cred points. Before maybe a year ago, I had never stepped foot inside a Walmart. Yes, I've read articles and books and business cases about them, but I never lived close enough to a Walmart. I figured that Walmart probably doesn't care enough to build anything around me because I'm not in its target market. Or so I thought. During a one-day out of town business trip in northern CT that ended up being an entire week, I came back to my hotel room around 10pm to realize that I hadn't packed any change of clothing for the next day. In a semi-panic mode, I found out that the only open place at that hour was a Walmart. I thought, hey I just need a dress shirt. Can't hurt, right? What had been a planned quick in-and-out trip to grab a shirt that probably wouldn't fit correctly ended up being a few solid hours of touring every aisle, feeling like a child in a candy store (but a delirious, over-worked one). On my "tour" I had fun gaping at the unbelievably cheap prices (unbelievable used in comparison to NYC prices though) and noting the things I had only read about in books - the layout, the high ceilings, the warehouse feel, the nowhere to be found employees. I did pick up a dress shirt (which didn't fit that well, btw). But I also scored a few awesome finds: * Organic Free-Range Eggs - $1.50/dozen - are you kidding me? My corner deli sells them for $2.99/HALF-dozen * Frozen veggies - A 10 pound bag for under 5 bucks! * Frozen blueberries - 5 pounds for under 5 bucks! Now I can guiltlessly feed my blueberries addiction. * Danskin gym clothes - I was surprised to find this brand at Walmart; they make great work-out gear that I purchase on a normal basis. As a result I bought over a hundred dollars worth of Danskin products (which in New York would have bought me a few tshirts and maybe a pretzel on the street. At Walmart I got a few shirts, pairs of shorts and pants, and a jacket!) Although I go in for precisely what I need, usually in the groceries section, and refuse to spent hours 'shopping' there, I am quite proud to say that I'm now a loyal customer. Whenever I need to make a visit up north I make it a point to drop by on my way back. I also get a kick from loading off bags and bags of Walmart groceries with the doorman while I drive off to return the rental car. :) read more

This is the Walmart that hubby and I frequent a lot when we do our huge grocery shopping trips. We go through every aisle in the grocery area, and I mean EVERY aisle. Products are neatly organized on the shelves and not in disarray like other Walmarts I have been to. The quality of the meats and produce is excellent. We always get some bananas and salad mixes that are very fresh. We also get a lot of deli meats and cheeses as it's just cheaper (and somewhat healthy) to eat every day for lunch. They now take numbers at the deli counter! No more of making sure that no one tries to "cut" in front of you at the counter. The electronics area is HUGE! You'd forget you are at Walmart when you check out the electronics area. It is like the Apple Store and Best Buy blended together. We will occasionally visit other areas of the store before our big grocery overhaul. Just like the grocery section, aisles are neat and clean. Only occasionally will one area be in "disarray" but since it's such a huge store the employees are constantly restocking and rearranging. Sometimes, we will fill up two shopping carts of things we "think" we need when we do cover every square inch of that store. One star off because service sometimes is a hit or miss. Most of the time we go service has been excellent, especially with the deli clerks. As with any large scale store, service can be disappointing depending on the employee you are dealing with. On one occasion we ended up going to another Walmart to buy a PS3 game because the employees in the electronics area just couldn't be "bothered" to break up their private conversation and ring up customers who were waiting to purchase an electronic item or needed assistance. Other than that, be prepared to spend a couple hours (or half a day) here. You will pick up what you need and then some. This Walmart is loaded with EVERYTHING! (Except cars. You still have to go to a dealership to buy a car.) read more

Never enough cashiers or accurate help. No one knows where anything is and no one is on the floor to assist with an understanding of what is in inventory and seems harried - especially managers who would know where the item is. Low overhead on the floor keeps the prices down - I think. If your time is more valuable than the extra time you'll be here finding stuff and checking out to save a couple of dollars then, well... sometime you just can't resist a perceived bargain. Finally a Walmart that I am not afraid to shop in. The produce is fresh, the lines are almost non existent, the staff is very friendly, and the isles are clean. It is a super walmart so it has everything you need and more. There are 2 front entrances and a rear one so it is very easy to gain access to. The parking lot is huge but it is a Walmart afterall so expect to park far away and walk. Best one I have been to so far. read more

In the entire history of the humankind, this WalMart Supercenter has never actually had enough cashiers for the consistently heavy customer volume at this location. Statistically and probabalistically speaking, you would think this is pretty unlikey (or even impossible), but here we are. They also have managed to somehow acquire the lowest quality produce known to man. One can only marvel at their success in this regard. Local bodegas can only look on jealously. On a serious note, the staff here has always been pleasant given the amount of customer abuse I've witnessed. Come on people, I know the lines are long, but isn't this the cost of low low prices? Besides, where else are you gonna buy a bike helmet, a sewing kit, a UConn pillow, and some Raisin Bran for less than 30 bucks. Nowhere, that's where. read more

I love this store! I can get clothing for working out, for casual that is quality and inexpensive, among other great merchandise, such as photo magnets, photo frames, groceries. Tried to print some photos today. The machine took over an hour and kept telling me 11 minutes. Associates did little to help and I sat waiting for a long time, and when I asked for advice little was given. One man named Jean came to help and he was very polite and helpful, only good employee I met today. I was told (after an hour) the machine was broken and somebody made an attempt to fix it, and then gave up to assist people who were only waiting for 2 minutes. Really bad experience, won't be using the photo center again. read more

This place is like a circus, with a very low, non Wallingford demographic shopping there, all of the noise, people parking willy nilly all over the place in fire zones, handicapped parking without permits, etc. etc. It should be shut down and Walmart should start all over again with new management who would make this store as pleasant to shop in that most other Walmart stores have always been to shop in for myself and my family. We're never going to shop at this Walmart Store again, even though it is here in Wallingford. We are going elsewhere, in Wallingford, and even outside of Wallingford to purchase food and other sundries for our family members and our home instead of this "mess" of things at this Wallingford Walmart Store. I have had a lot of medical expenses this year so I am at the point a lot is covered. I took 4- 90 day RX's to the pharmacy to be filled. Well they told me the cheap RX could only be filled for a month. the other 3 they filled for a month and never told me I could not get 90 days. I usually get my Rx's filled in Canada. It is cheaper. I have only 30 days worth of medications that cost me what 90 days would have cost me in Canada. All they could say is they are sorry. I now will have to take 1 pill every three days until I can build my HSA account back up to get 90 days worth. I have to call the doctor and explain what Walmart's Pharmacy did to me and get new prescriptions. Thank You Walmart and Merry Christmas to you. read more

Yeah it's big and it has low prices. The customer service is awful. If you ask for something, they tell you a vague answer that is rarely right. Then, you have to ask another employee because you can't find it and you get another wrong answer. Obviously they are overworked and apathetic.
