This store was amazing! Had what I needed and I even picked up a few decorative rooster hanging pots.

This is the second year that I visited SH in this location. Plenty of parking with ease of access…read more I visited twice this year. First time was early/mid October to get some costume ideas and to check on the inventory. It was packed with lots of costumes for adults and children plus props, decor, makeup, hats etc. My second visit was on 10/30 and the inventory was greatly reduced. I asked about the return policy and learned that store credit was the only refund and since this is a pop up, they would be gone right after Halloween. Place has a Nice set up with automated decoration. A subway car with monsters and flashing lights. Cool stuff and well organized. Not much in the way of staff but the cashiers were really fast. I found some makeup and my costume for the costume party I was planning to attend. Everything was under $100 for what I needed.

It's one of my fave times of the year! Spooky season! The staff were very fun, helpful,& clearly…read moreliving their best Halloween lives! They rock! I experienced the new Spirit Madison Scare Park. The Scare Park was basically a bunch of horror animatronics characters displayed. You put your foot on a pad & bam the animatronics come to life. Zombie clowns,Art the Clown, possessed bats,& a whole lineup of nightmares that come true.It was super fun if you're into spooky stuff. Inside had a huge amount of Halloween/horror/spooky product selections anything from socks to mugs to costumes, etc. I felt like i was in a candy store. I wanted to buy it all but i controlled myself & wallet. Now fair warning Spirit is not cheap. It is pretty pricey & Spirit Halloween took off their 20% off 1 item that was always available. I guess b/c they're a trend now & also I get it licensed products are costly. However, you can catch coupons on their website & not sell your soul for an animatronic.

Their store may be tucked away, nestled between Main Street and the train tracks, but it really is a friendly hub. I met Phyllis at the Valley Marketplace on the green in downtown Ansonia. My mom struck up a conversation with her and told her that we were having a hard time trying to consign our old clothes and she warmly welcomed us to come on over any time and she'll take any clothes as long as they're not too beaten up or stained. When I finally went there with bins and bags of clothes, they were so kind and took all but 3 items, which is a breath of fresh air after dealing with the uppity atmosphere at One More Tyme and Plato's Closet. Granted, not a lot of people who visit buy things, so don't get too butthurt if you go in after a couple of weeks and only have 25 cents in your account. This leads me to the absolute BEST thing about Barb's Corner: their huge hearts. Barb and Phyllis take more than just clothing, they also take household items, furniture, and even unopen packs of diapers and adult disposable underwear. If you're someone who's hurting and hard up for money, they might even cut you a break on the price, which is totally unheard of in this dog eat dog world where everyone just wants to make a buck. However, please don't abuse their kindness since they need every dollar they get, as do the consigners. Even if you've got a heart of stone, it's hard not to like this quaint shop and their great prices. I got a brand new pair of shorts with the KMart tag and everything still on them, here for $2.50! All in all, this place is wonderful to visit, even if you are just feeling lonely and need someone to talk to. The only downside, and it's not that big of a deal, is that it tends to get a bit cramped what with all of the stuff they take. So, just keep on your toes and you should be golden.
