    Tuxedo Roll ($17.95), delicious!
    Jennifer O.

Highly recommend! I'm choosy about sushi spots, goes double for this location that long ago was one of my favorite spots, Nagano. Toyama Sushi rises to that level of excellence with ultra fresh fish sliced generously for sashimi and combined uniquely into many types of house rolls. Loved the Tuxedo Roll ($17.95) with crab, avocado topped with super white tuna, scallop and black tobiko. The thick slices of hamachi and otoro sashimi ($29.95) were a delicious splurge. Service was impeccable, warm and attentive. The restaurant's nicely decorated and cozy, perfect for dinner for two or a small group. Located on Geary a few doors down from Arguello in The Inner Richmond.

Came here on a Sunday evening! Excellent food. I was a huge fan of the garlic sake poke appetizer and so strongly recommend that item over any of the rolls I tried. The chef really pours his heart into the rolls and he actually interacts with customers if you talk to him. It's equally fun to watch him make his rolls and eat them at the same time. Overall, I want this place to do well and I'm willing to overlook a lot of the nitpicking, 5/5 from me!

I got the sushi for 2 and would not return for a couple reasons. 1. Over half of them were overly fishy and I had times it was difficult to eat 2. The rice was too warm and my sushi felt almost uncomfortably warm at times, but I realized that the sushi counter fridge was often left open 3. The rice was a bit more gummy than I would like, felt more like a hard stacked rice ball that was a tad bit too sweet. 4. A lot of sauce on each piece felt like it was overpowering or trying to hide something about the fish. Service was good and ambiance was more like a mom and pop shop that I really loved. Cozy like a home and nothing overtly curated. Maybe would come back here to get basic rolls, but not sushi itself. Though I will say, for the price this leans on the more acceptable side.

Found this place from other Yelpers and so glad I did. Came here on a Sunday evening for early dinner at 5:45pm with my dad and daughter. We were the first ones seated but soon others started coming in at 6pm and by 6:30pm all tables were full. The sushi was fresh and yummy. The service was also attentive and the rolls came out quite quickly but probably because we were the first ones there. The interior was also nice and inviting with lots of nice decor with flowers and sake and beer bottles on the walls. The prices were also quite reasonable for sushi and for the city. We ordered various rolls such as SF Giants, Niners and spider roll. Will definitely be back again when I'm in the mood for sushi in the city. Parking was very easy when I was there since I got a metered spot right in front of the restaurant. Score!

Toyama is always amazing. I don't have a picture now, but my favorite thing to order is the Sushi for 2 for me and my fiancé. The staff is nice and friendly. Inside is a little dark and romantic with some tv's around. The sushi chef is so nice and friendly. He works so hard I see him every time. We come back all the time and that will not stop. Also, this place is so good and open later than other places!

Customer service 5 star Really appreciated the chef tried to talk me through difference between two dishes. Also, curtesy call when my order was ready earlier than stated Restaurant is bright and cheerful, appears clean. Slices of fish are beautifully displayed. I ordered White Tiger roll and The boat (assorted sashimi and Nigel) Slices are thick and juicy appearance. Prices are good. Area for improvement would be actual selection of fish. The fish was not high grade fish, not choice parts of the fish. If you don't eat sushi often, You might incorrectly think, fish not fresh. It's fresh but lower grade selection. The miso soup is rich and creamy delicious 5+ Funny, but one of the best miso soups I've tasted. I now wonder if I should have tried their ramen? The miso is excellent.

Delicious sushi and sashimi boats. Also, we love their beef teriyaki dinner. Great value and friendly service. Located on Geary Blvd between 2nd Ave and Arguello.

Decent food, average service, lots of tables. Came at a slow evening. It's not a bad spot, but nothing really stood out to me. Give it a try if you are in the area.

Sometimes it takes friends to open one's eyes to what else is out there. This was the case on DST Saturday after watching an eventful Warriors game. My friend found a restaurant with a large menu to allow our party of six choices for our late dinner. The restaurant closes at 10 am but do note the kitchen closes at 9 am for cooked foods. We placed our orders at the deadline due to traffic issues in getting here. We shared a few sushi rolls and an appetizer with our individual meals. I ordered the agedashi tofu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=CF8KlJijnBIfj5XEbctoVA), a generous and eye-catching presentation that tasted as good as it looked. The large tofu pieces were temperature hot so do be careful in biting in. I also tried to the spicy tuna hand roll (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=yF7jRasA4XMXyHVO7BVcbA); this was a different take as the tuna came in chunks and the spiciness was on the subtle side. My main meal was the beef teriyaki and sashimi (sake) bento box (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=zjzSfhm4pr5O5YZmgu0xFA). It comes with miso soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=YSYtQIW30Zv4fvCDbvkIVA) and green tea ice cream. I enjoyed this, especially the beef which paired well with the rice. I wish maguro is an option though the salmon slices were fresh and generous. I am glad our waitress and the sushi chef owner were persistent in reminding us that the kitchen closes at 9 pm due to the shared tenants (residential) in the building, a typical concern in SF. The dining room was half full when we were seated a little after 8 pm. Our dining companions were stuck in traffic (actually trying to exit a parking structure) and made it to the restaurant just before 9 pm. Street parking was not very difficult as I found a metered space around the corner. Thanks to Jun and Michelle for taking our orders, bringing our food, and refilling our tea cups and water glasses. Big thanks to Dayson, the aforementioned chef owner for being frank with us in ensuring we had an enjoyable meal. Extra thanks for pointing out that, due to our party size (6), the gratuity was already added. Doing the 'Asian thing's in paying the bill while returning from my restroom stop, I didn't look at the itemization and added an additional gratuity. He removed my addition in spite of my plea to add it on. As we continued to discuss the restaurant's background, we learned that he came from that popular South Bay sushi place with multiple locations that rhymes with "umami". We will be back.

    55. Mount Fuji Roll

They had really good rolls. I got the mount fuji roll and it was amazing. the only think i will say is some of their menu items don't specific everything that is on the roll in the description. they also don't let you do replacements in the rolls (swap tuna for salmon).

    Atmosphere of the restaurant

Food was simply amazing and the atmosphere was enjoyable. The music and decor was pleasant and the staff was truly attentive. I would recommend Toyama Sushi to anyone looking to enjoy a lovely dinner in a great space!

My friend and I had a city day & we were both craving sushi. We were hanging out in the Richmond district and stumbled upon this spot. They had so many options on the menu and I really liked that they had pictures of the rolls. I'm more of a nigiri person and I really enjoyed the options I chose. We also ordered the seaweed salad and chicken karaage which was super yummy. Our server was really nice and attentive. Would def come back to this spot.

Me and my partner eat a lot of sushi, and Toyama is honestly the best we've had in SF. Their nigiri is on another level--so fresh and perfect every time. Sitting at the bar and getting the chef's omakase is a must. He has his own style that's just genius. A real hidden gem.

We called to ask about a walk-ins, and they told us they could get us a spot in 20 minutes on a Saturday at ~7:45 p.m. We had: - Scallop skewers: 5/5, I've never had scallop skewers this good. So creamy, juicy, and tender - Uni toast: 5/5, perfect ratio between the toast and the uni. The toast was super soft. It just paired really well with all the other ingredients. Seasoned also perfectly - Heavenly salmon roll: 5/5, before eating this, we were so skeptical because we saw imitation crab which usually overpowers everything but WOW. It just paired so perfectly. - Snow mountain roll: 5/5, love the acidity on this. - Okaeri donburi: 4/5, felt like too much rice for the ingredients that were on it, but still enjoyed it. The level of execution and attention to detail on some of these dishes was insane. It's so rare that places nail so many dishes. I cannot wait to go back!!! Still dreaming of this meal.

What we ordered: + San Ten Mori (assorted sashimi) [4/5]: The highlight of our meal was the yuzu wasabi that came with the salmon + amberjack in this set. It was sooo delicious and spicy. The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good. I wish the cheese ratio was 3x as much, but the flavor and tenderness of the katsu is delicious. Huge props to Rintaro; my Resy reservation was initially cancelled due to an accident in booking, but the staff was so friendly and went above & beyond to help me get my reservation reinstated at a similar time.
