I'm VERY disappointed & surprised in what happened today. My daughter called ahead our order, one bialy with butter, one egg and cheese on a egg bagel and a big chocolate chip cookie. We were told it will be ready in 30 minutes. Being I live two towns over I figured I'll head over. I got there I didn't see it on the shelving they usually keep their orders. I greeted the owner, as I always do being I've been a regular customer for 18 years. I waited 20 minutes until I finally spoke up, (you'd think someone would've asked may I help you? Why would I be standing there for 20 min.?) I said is the order for ------ ready? The girl turns around and says oh I'm sorry. It was sitting on the counter ALL that time, the owner said, " more bad news for ______" the girl said we're out of bialys! I then proceeded to call my daughter to see if she'd like something else, she didn't answer any of my calls or text, so I left VERY frustrated! The owner came out and asked if I'd like a plain bagel? I said I don't know my daughter never answered and my food was probably cold. He offered to make me another, but I was already in my car. I said no thank you, he said I'll see you during the week. I said thank you and left, I'm SO turned off I will not be going back, there are a million bagel places, it's just a shame, they lost a customer of 18 years when they could've called back, save me a trip and ask if we'd like something else being they're out of bialys. read more

After coming to Town Bagel consistently for the past 8 years, I didn't expect myself to ever give a 1 star review. Today is that day. Usually, I get a chopped salad and lately it has come back in chunks and barely chopped. Gross. So, I alerted the person making it to extra chop it. At lunch today, I got a full sized OLIVE PIT in my salad. Had I not seen it or it blended into my next bite, who would have ended up with a BROKEN TOOTH? The workers are extremely unfriendly and the manager proved today to be a condescending person and disgraceful about this. We brought this to his attention and he goes "that's an olive pit." Of course it is an olive pit... He went on about well order it on the side, well you didn't break your tooth did you.. So RUDE. Unprofessional and downright disgusting response. I am shocked and he barely apologized. We said that's not good enough. Couldn't even do the decent thing to say, next salad is on us or I'm so sorry this happened. After regularly coming for years, I will not be returning. So sad. BE AWARE if you order a chopped salad because you may get an olive pit and break your teeth and there's no way the owner would even care. read more

Since I can't give 0 stars, my one star review will be for the fact that ONLY the bagels are good here. I'm a local so if I need to grab a bagel i'll stop here but every time before I go I shouldn't need to worry if the "rude owner Dave" will be there because of how uncomfortable I feel with how rude he is. I walk in with a big smile every time, I say Hi! and he'll look at me in the eyes and not say a word. My dad gets bagels every Sunday and has stopped coming here for 2 years now because of Dave's rudeness and how unprofessional he is, yelling at employees in front of customers. I came here on a beautiful summer Sunday morning. There was a long line and everyone seemed to know each other from high school. I became anxious that I'd be spotted as an outsider. I made it to the counter and ordered chicken salad on a whole wheat everything. I also got a complementary cole slaw which I could have done without. Terrible service, there are tons of delis and bagel shops on Long Island, service is everything. I was in there when it was completely empty 3 hours before close & waited about 7 minutes until 1 of the 9 employees working behind the counter came to take my order and when I looked at her wondering if she was just staring at me or about to take my order I asked "is this where I place my order?" She goes "uh huh" and proceeded to make a single sandwich order and stare laughing at me behind the counter. I felt like I was inconveniencing all the employees with my existence, hands down would never come back. read more

Food and service is very good... but being in merrick, bellmore, Wantagh area where there is a bagel store every quarter mile.... prices are out of control. Been going to town bagel since I was a child. The place has changed over the years but always a great place to have a tasty breakfast or lunch, the bagels and salads are always fresh. I always get the chicken salad amazing tasting but to be honest a little pricey so a few weeks ago I went to bagel boss which them being Kosher they didn't have chicken salad so I got the bagels only not impressed... Town bagel was better... I went to a deli around merrick bought chicken salad was almost half the price but town bagel again must better tasting so...... I have come to think why mess with a good thing although might be able to get it cheaper but as they say cheaper isn't always better..... So town bagel in Bellmore it is!!! Sometimes the counter service can be a little rough depending on who you get but then again the place is always packed. Plus Jamiee always remembers us which my kids love! I want to start by saying the service at the Town Bagels in both Wantagh and Bellmore were incredibly disappointing. I had gotten chopped salads at the Town Bagel in Plainview and they were fantastic. So I decided to try Town Bagel in Wantagh. I faxed in an order for myself and my mother and about 5 minutes later got a call back. The woman on the other end of the line said they didn't have about half the ingredients and then asked me what "chick peas" were. When you order chopped salads from this place you get a menu of all the "available" toppings and you check off what you want - so how are they missing half of a list they're providing? After I explained what chick peas looked like and told her to make the salads without the missing ingredients I waited about 20 minutes then drove over. My order was ready on time, but some of the ingredients I was told over the phone they did have were missing. With everything missing in total, I could have easily made that salad myself at home without having to have even gone to a grocery store. Today I decided to try Town Bagel in Bellmore to see if the service there was better. Unlike the Wantagh store you can place your order online, which I did. This was at 1pm. The website says to give them 45 minutes to make salads, so I arrived at the store just before 2pm. Unfortunately for me no orders had come through the computer (even though I had received an email confirmation saying my order was placed with no problems). They handed me the order form and said I could reorder my salad - without offering to put me to the front of the lunch rush line or to provide the food for free. Disgusted I walked out. At 2:30pm I received a phone call from the store saying they just received the order and do I still want the salads. The order was placed on their website, it wasn't emailed in, it doesn't take an hour and a half for orders to be received this way. I suspect the individual who was checking the orders doesn't know how to use a computer. I told her no and hung up. All in all, I will never, ever go to any Town Bagel again. read more

Here's the thing, Town Bagel sparkles when you walk through the door. I mean, literally sparkles! The place is so well kept, so clean, it's spotless. I would probably eat off of the floor bc it's that nice. The bagels are good. The sandwiches are good, tuna is good but here's the thing... You get a bagel, there's not enough cream cheese. You get a salad, there's not enough dressing. Iced Coffee is disgusting-burnt tasting, always. The prices are out of this world rip off. I mean it's a bagel! They need to scale back there prices and stop being so greedy, it's just a bagel and bagels are not worth more than $2. read more

We love this place and drive the 15 miles several times a week to enjoy breakfast there. There are so many choices. The maple raisin bagels are my favorite and so is the tuna rapport. The coffee is excellent so we don't miss Starbucks. In addition the staff is well trained and very nice. The specials are all good. Keep up the good work. I could eat here 3 times a day and not get tired. I don't like the t.v.s all over the restaurant as going to breakfast with my honey is time I don't wish to share with sports casters and politicians. read more

I have become somewhat of a regular here, going 2-3 times a week, but after today, I'm not sure I will ever be returning. I've never dealt with worse customer service in my life. After waiting for 25 minutes for two chopped salads and three bagels, I noticed one of the salads was made incorrectly. My server agreed that she had, in fact, made my salad wrong, so was happy to redo it. Though shortly after, an older woman came over and started giving me an attitude about that it was somehow MY fault that they were throwing the other salad away and that I made up the fact that my server had messed up my order. After I nicely told her that was not the case, she continued on and started screaming then turned off in a huff to tell the younger girl to remake my salad. I ended up just leaving because I was so put off (so they ended up throwing away another salad and 3 bagels worth of food). Unbelievable. read more

Been going here since it opened. Staff is great and friendly. Food is great. Bagels are the way they should be. Despite what you read here below, prices are not inflated. What really sets them apart from other local bagel stores is the open aired feeling you get when you eat here. Mind you Bagel Boss is great as well, but when you sit down and eat in Bagel Boss there is a desk staring you in the face right in the seating area.
