I've stopped by Calvert Manor Bagels a bunch of times on weekend mornings when I'm in the Massapequa area. The place is in a strip mall on Hicksville Rd, pretty close to to Jerusalem Ave. The place is pretty small but clean, and there's usually a decent sized line when I've gone in, around 8am. The line moves quickly as the workers churn through pretty efficiently. There are a few tables that look pretty well maintained where you can dine in. From my experiences, this place does a good job w/ its pricing. I believe bagels are currently in the $1.60 range each, which is a little less than other places I've been. This place also has a few specials, which is great to see. There is a commuter special during the weekdays which is a buttered bagel or roll + coffee / tea for $4.29 + tax from 5am-11am. They also have pretty good prices on egg sandwiches on a bagel. I got one this past weekend (2 eggs on a bagel) and it was $4.61 including tax. It also came with a coffee. Thought that was a solid deal. Their bagels are pretty solid; I wouldn't say they're anything close to the absolute best, but fairly solid for the price. I ordered my egg sandwich w/ pepper and ketchup and it was solid if unspectacular. Overall, I'd give this place 4 stars as they've delivered solid quality and solid prices from what I've experienced. That in itself is quite rare on Long Island these days so gotta give credit where its due. read more

My first time coming here and the person who waited on me was Alex. Nice kid guided me through what I was looking for very knowledgeable! The place is very clean very organized and when I got home and bit into my egg, everything bagel it was wonderful. I had the Lox scallion cream cheese It was delicious. He also told me about their pastries are all baked on premise so if you buy three, you get one free and I want to tell everybody that the APPLE TURNOVER was the absolute best I have ever had!!! This pastry had the flakiest moist and filled with plenty of fruit, which is also delicious!! I'm in the food industry as well, and I have to say that this place has a new customer! read more

North Massapequa's favorite bagel place. Around for decades it is where locals go for a crispy crunchy soft and chewy, bagel with flavor. Today they were out of everything plain flagels but with a whole wheat, egg and pumpernickel flagel left who"s complaining? Better than plain. Great bagel shop. Anytime I'm in NYC or on LI I always try to get to bagel shop and was happy with Calvert Manor Bagels. I had a bacon, egg, and cheese on everything and it was really good. My wife had a salt bagel with cream cheese and enjoyed it. Decent bagel place with good coffee, too. They open at 5am which is a plus for people on the road early as well. read more

I am done with this place. The customer service is TERRIBLE everyone looks miserable and makes you feel miserable after being there. Go get better food and service at a business that actually cares. This place is horrible. The last 5 times I have ordered they have missed an item. It's to the point where I have to waste time and look through my order to make sure its all correct. They just keep cutting corners and raising prices. Bagels have been getting smaller and smaller, they even cut them now (how thoughtful) the everything bagel has barely anything on it. Just tired of paying for less, I get it, everything costs more but come on don't make your product cheaper, people are willing to pay but not when your charging for credit cards use and there's so many different bagel shops around. just now, the most frustrating experience ever. 20 minutes to get 2 cold sandwiches by some clueless, inept seemingly stoned guy who took 5 minutes to write down the order. Fortunately experienced beard guy stepped in (order was all wrong) and finished up for us. Customers turned over at easy 3 x waiting. good bagels, but do not do a pick up order here. I've tried to do order pick up twice here, and the employees literally ignore you. I waited close to 20 min each time for someone to even bother talking to me and turns out my order was ready on the pick up shelf the entire time. I don't know why these employees have such animosity towards pick up orders but i won't be coming here again because of their attitudes. read more

In these odd times we live in with COVID-19 affecting our daily lives, it's so important to have a piece of normal life to depend upon. Calvert Manor Bagels is just that! My wife stops in twice a week, and reports the location is spotless and the workers are all practicing safety, with gloves and masks. We truly appreciate this. Man oh man what happened to this place? I moved a few years ago and stopped coming here as it just wasn't a convenient location anymore, but today I happened to be driving by and stopped in for breakfast since it always used to be fantastic in the old spot. I don't know if ownership changed or what but the quality has gone way downhill and the prices way up. Bagels not nearly as good as they used to be, cream cheese had that odd consistency it only gets when it's been out too long, and their "large iced coffee" was simply some weak sauce coffee over ice poured into one of those little styrofoam deals you get hot coffee in - somehow it was still more expensive than a true large at DD. Sad to see a solid spot decline like this, return is doubtful. read more

Listen as a Long Island born and raised man, Dave C. has expertise in a handful of things and those are bagels, pizza, the opiate crisis and traffic. Nothing gets my day started right like a sore jaw from some not completely stale but certainly not fresh bagels. I'm no eagles fan, but Philly certainly smokes this place in the cream cheese department. In the highly volatile and competitive Long Island Bagel industry, this place is dropping faster than Aaron Rodgers on Monday night football. I haven't updated my review since CMB moved into their new location. The new spot is beautiful. Everything is brand new except the food is still reliable and delicious. In the morning it's coffee and egg sandwiches or bagels with cream cheese. If it's lunch I'm getting delicious tuna or chicken salads or cold cuts sandwiches. Big fridge right when you walk in has a wide assortment of beverages from teas to sodas to juices or seltzer. The workers are friendly, local community people. The bagels are good but the workers are slow, unorganized and lazy. It's clear they just don't care because no one is standing there making sure they are doing their job the way they are supposed to. I usually go here for the everything bagels because they are one of the few laces that have salt on them. My husband went to get a dozen bagels on a Saturday recently and they said he HAD to get 18 and that they don't do one dozen on the weekends. The only thing is, they charge you $5 more. So what about not having the freezer space at home? And the funny thing is, this time they didn't have salt on them and it was a waste of money. I have been with this bagel place my whole life. It's the best on long island. The bagels are big, dense, chewy and good. I am giving them a good rating also because the staff has always been so kind to me. One time one of the staff members calmed me down when I was starting to have a panic attack in the store. I still go their to get the best veggie cream cheese and everything bagels I've ever had. The rainbow bagel is a pretty sweet adaptation! I love that they try new things but still also continue to just have a great selection. The only thing I dislike about this place is the website. The website is vague and unsettled so far. I've been going to Calvert bagels for at least 4 years. I go 3 days a week and order the same egg sandwich and same size coffee every day. The price I'm charged is $4.01. Mind you I have the same order every time however the price seem to vary day to day from $3.57- $4.45. Not enough to complain about, but it makes you wonder why the price is different? Yesterday ordered my regular order and the clerk wants to charge me $5.74. I said it's usually $4.01and she replied we now charge for butter on egg sandwich. No sign to indicate the additional charge. Still the same sandwich went from $4.01-$5.74. Totally ridiculous. The good news there is at least 6 other bagel stores within a 3 mile radius. read more

Good bagels, but None of the 6 or 7 people working there and waiting on customers were wearing a mask, despite the fact that covid cases are on the rise. Very uncomfortable feeling.
