McGrath's Taxi has a fine old history in Quincy; I remember their old black-and-white checkered…read morecabs in the 60s, when they were berthed out of the old Finast supermarket lot in Norfolk Downs. As of at least a couple years back, there was still a single "McGrath's" cab left, driven by an aging fellow who was the last McGrath's medallion holder -- no doubt this has to do with the Byzantine nature of taxi regulations. It was done up in a unique white livery with a blue script logo, and the driver effectively worked for Yellow Cab -- if you called the Yellow dispatcher, this guy might show up to take your fare. He always gave me good service, and I hope he's still plugging away in his creaky sedan.

This was my third trip using this company, the first time was with a nice woman good driver…read morepleasant, trip #2 I thought maybe he was having a bad day, the 3rd trip I thought hopefully I will get a different driver...NOPE THIS time more aggressive, while making small talk he became very argumentative & demeaning towards everyone other than a white male. Swerving in & out of traffic not just discourteous but dangerous & unfortunately we are at their mercy. Then he started talking about ex-wife I thought perhaps the poor guy is in the midst of a divorce try not to judge .. then I learned he had been divorced for over 20 years!!! When I called office to complain he basically told me I was lying & that the driver was the best he has ever had.. just then I recognized the tone of his voice & realized I was speaking to the actual driver/owner.

I felt compelled to write another review of this company after seeing an obviously bogus review…read moremost likely written by the owner of this company telling me that I don't know the difference between a "car service" and a "taxi service". First of all, Travelers is listed under "taxi service/airport shuttle". I have used it as both and was left waiting at Logan Airport for so long after making an advance reservation that I took a taxi home. Call it what you want, it's a car with a driver and certainly not a professional car service like Carey Transportation which has a Mercedes and uniformed driver. I was also left stranded at Greenbush Station in Scituate after making a reservation hours in advance. The guy who answered the phone was on his own cell phone and the only driver working. He told me there was nothing he could do. He was the only driver on and couldn't pick me up for 4 hours! The person working in the morning hadn't told him anything. So you can call it a car service or anything you want, I call it amateur. I have used sedan and limo services all over the country and in the UK and never been treated worse than by this company. This business is rubbish, look elsewhere. I think Yelp should investigate the bogus review by the owner or someone connected to him in response to my previous review. It seems he chooses to respond on here rather than picking people up as he agreed to or finding someone who can.
