Heard a lot about this place so I thought Id try the new location in McAllen. I got the tower burger with onion strings and fried egg on it and added bacon with fries on side. The Burger was amazing - fresh homemade bun and the bacon was thick and flavorful. The beef patty had a great flavor and was obviously made in house. Two small downfalls - (1) the fries had kind of a bitter taste and off texture. I mentioned it to the server and she wasn't sure but said she would pass the info along. The table next to us overheard us and commented that they noticed it as well. Maybe stay away from the reg fries. (2) the tea was very weak - i suggest soda or just get water. Location: Corner of Tower Road and Business Hwy 83 (Alamo, TX). Never have I ever written a review before getting home before (I promise I'm not driving), but this place was just that good! I came here because of the good Yelp reviews and because I'd seen it on an article where they listed the "10 best burgers" in The Valley. Needless to say, it lived up to the hype. I ordered their Tower Burger because I figured it was their staple dish and probably a must try. Oh, my! The portions were HUGE! The burger was way bigger than my mouth. I honestly finished half of it and had to take the rest of it to go. That's right, the burger won. Their fries were really good too. They reminded me of Five Guys fries, which are some of my favorite. And their dipping sauces were amazing! The ranch dipping sauce tasted like it had Mexican crema fresca (sour cream?). Best dip ever! Instant favorite. And the customer service is among the best I've come across, hands down. The place was crazy full, but the staff came through and helped arrange seating for our party of 6. We had a mishap with our order, and the manager himself came out, apologized, and fully made up for it. I can honestly say I was impressed. And the servers kept checking up on all the tables very frequently, to ensure customer satisfaction. Truly incredible. Customer service: it was after work and I wanted to try something new. They took my call right away and were very patient with all the questions I had. They finally recommended for me to try their "Sexy Mexi" which was one of their top sellers. The person was very nice and polite which sadly can be rare to run into now days. Tasty burger: I have to say the "Sexy-Mexi" lived up to my expectations. It was just so delicious and tasty! The avocado and cream just gave it that Mexican and unique taste! The chorizo in the beef patty was just something I had never tried but I sure wasn't disappointed. Conclusion: I totally recommend everyone to give this place a try. First I gotta say...WOW!!!! It's great to finally get a great burger close to home. The 1/3 lb meat patty if big and tasty, the bun is soft and buttery, the lettuce is fresh and crisp, and I can keep going all day.... I know for a fact that this burger is totally worth the price. I myself don't like onion rings but the thin, crispy, perfectly seasoned onion strips they sell here are amazing! As far as the appearance of the place goes, it is nicely decorated, clean, well lit, and the staff is friendly and kind. Love the trays in which they serve the burger and fries (very functional). The only thing I would do to better the place is make it bigger because it gets packed. But that's a great problem to have. Tower Burger is THE place to eat at in the RGV. Hands down best burger in town. Our food has always been fresh and hot. Even ordering to-go dinners it's just as good. Personal favorite-- Bacon Cheese burger and the loaded fries. read more

I will definitely head out here again, worth the 10 minute drive to Alamo! Keep in mind although this is a burger place where you order at the counter much like McDonald's, its not a "fast food" restaurant. I see plenty reviews saying there was a wait time after they ordered, it was much like a sit down restaurant wait time. I went Saturday around lunch time and it was busy. We did wait around 15 minutes to get our burgers. I tried their salmon burger with loaded fries and the burger was well seasoned, not greasy, toppings crisp and bun warm & toasty. Fries were delicious. Probably would do without the cheese it made them a little soggy as they were weighted down, but that's a personal preference. I gave this 4 stars because I didn't try a "burger burger" and that's what they are known for. Maybe next time! read more

I am hating myself for taking as long as I did to come here. I love me a good burger as much as anyone, but these are more than just good burgers - they are monstrocities. I decided to go with their signature dish, the Tower Burger, and was pleasantly overwhelmed when they brought me my food. My reaction was "is all that really for me?". While the burger comes with the usual fixings it also comes loaded with onion strings. I opted to get the combo for a few dollars more, and enjoyed the fries and fountain drink. I notice that at some burger places, especially fast food ones, the fountain drinks are plain and lack syrup. That isn't the case here. I had ordered the tower burger, that comes with egg and all veggies,also onion rings inside burger and the meat cooked to your choosing. Upon receiving my food I was missing the egg and the meat was cooked well done. Hadn't been here in awhile since discovering Build-A-Burger in Edinburg. Burger patty was dry and overcooked. They told me it would be medium well. Bun was too thick and fries were barely warm plus they were just soggy today. Employees are super nice. But the quality is lacking. Someone should inspect each tray as it leaves the kitchen on the way to the table. They used to be really good. I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Solid solid burger joint. I've been trying to think of something negative to write, but I just can't find anything. Everything was very well prepared and freshly made. If I were to make any complaint it might be that the meat got a little lost in the mountain of toppings. The burger was huge and very filling. Honestly, unless you intend on rolling home you should consider sharing. Loved the sunny side up egg on the tower burger! I've always loved egg on burgers, I don't know why more places don't have the option. The fried pickles and fries were really good. Great spot! -P.S. I'm adding this the next day. The burgers are amazing! They make it however you like it and they are juicy. The regular fries are okay but once turned into loaded fries they are good! The ice cream donuts dessert is delicious. If it wasn't for the regular fries and the price is a bit expensive, I would give this place a 5 star review. read more
