Starlite Burger No 1 - Got hyped up by reels. Burger wasn't great and oh let me tell you about the fries super oily as you can see. - Fast Food Near Me - McAllen, Texas

I had the two meat burger combo. Price is great. The burger, ... Not so much. It was not good but it wasn't bad either. Just a couple of plane patties in between a stale bun. Fries were greasy and soggie. It'll make a turd! read more

Starlite Burger No 1 - Ten bucks for a double meat burger combo. Not bad! Let's see how it tastes. - Fast Food Near Me - McAllen, Texas

4/6/2024, We ordered a couple of burger combos, first thing you notice is the greasy bag they come in. Fries are dripping in grease, and burgers were not seasoned and tased very bland. All the tables in the place were dirty, with food and flies on every empty table. We had to clean our own table, which was broken and very wobbly. Food and garbage on the floor, and especially under the tables. I've lived here over 20 years, and I have never seen it this bad, it is really sad to see how this once great place, has become a place to avoid. read more

Food not the same. I hadn't been here in over a year. Their fries were at a point of being almost raw. I asked for extra tomato and pickles. I got 2 small slices of tomato and 2 slices of pickles. Disappointed read more

There is a reason why Starlite has been around for 50 years. A good old fashioned stick to your ribs burger and chicken joint. The only problem is having to pick one. Order both, share, and enjoy a good meal. read more

When in town this is a must! I came here after seeing the reviews and was immediately impressed to what others were saying. Upon me entering the restaurant, you get this immediate feeling of "old school" burger joint. All the retro games that are there for your enjoyment while you wait is a very nice touch. I ended up ordering a Starlight Burger combo with chili cheese fries. My burger and fries were made fresh to order, though I wish the patty was a little thicker, but no complaints. The burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly. With the tangy mustard, stout onions and sweet tomatoes all adding to the amazing flavor. Now let's get to the chili cheese fries. I am a fanatic for chili cheese fries. This was probably one of the best I've had in a while. Not only did the chili and cheese cover the entire portion of fries, but it mixed and cohered like Jack and Rose from Titanic, until I came along and tore it apart. This place is forever on my list when I come to McAllen and should be yours too. read more

Starlite Burger No 1 - Starlight Burger Combo with Chili Cheese Fries! - Fast Food Near Me - McAllen, Texas

No English spoken here. Service was slow. Food was just ok. Yelp wants me to add more, but that's all you need to know.

Food was really good, the burger tasted like if it was home cooked. The shrimp plate was delicious, and the churros were so good!

Okay old-style burger place, but the burger doesn't stand up to newer places like Five Guys.

I haven't been here since along time and the food is not the same. The burgers are very blend and the nacho cheese was very diluted. They took more than 20 minutes to give us our food. Please do yourself a favor and go to Whataburger. read more

There are few places left from my childhood that I can still say I go to. Mostly cuz they are all gone. But Starlight burger has been serving burgers to hungry folks in the barrio since the 1970s. Nothing special about the burger ingredients. Standard burger patties and standard buns. But they do them like the old days. Fries are hand cut and fresh. If you expect McDonald style shoestring potatoes you will be sorely disappointed. Burgers are made on the grill by old timers and some new kids, and they don't change their style, strictly old school. Thumbs way up on my favorite burger place. read more

I had not been in this place for over 15 years, I went today and it is exactly the way I use too be. I order the burger combo with chocolate milkshake and it was so good, just like the good old days :). My mother had the chicken burger and we were very surprised how big, thick and juicy it is. I try her strawberry shake and it was amazing, I don't like strawverry at all, but this shake is really good. Great service too. I did not take photos, I went for the food, maybe next time. read more

Went back after I didn't have a great experience, and 39 days later, I notice a big difference the French Fries were not a greasy as last time. Still prefer Lighter color and softer fries, but a huge improvement The chicken pieces are slightly bigger. Good job Starlite for improving the french fries.Look forward to trying the burgers my next visit. read more

Starlite Burger No 1 - Fries are better, than last time i visited. less greasy, lighter and much more. - Fast Food Near Me - McAllen, Texas

Amazing food and relatively quick service. I have never had an order that has been messed up. An RGV Classic.

Worse place ever... chicken sandwich looked like a burnt processed chicken! The burgers had no flavor... only good thing was the fries and even then they needed salt!!! Now I know why I stand away, nothing original but the people that know no better read more

Everything is so delicious here. They have quarter games and milkshakes, burgers, chicken, hotdogs, burrito supremes (my favorite) I believe this is the original Starlite. read more

The food was raw and under cooked. Showed it to the "manager" but because we cut in half to show him it was raw he did not want to refund us our money. We didn't take a single bite. His excuse was "if the burger is raw why would you even cut it?" Be cautious, this is the first place I know that doesn't do something when they are clearly in the wrong. One of my favorite spots in the valley. The retro themed ambiance is partly why I adore this place so much. The food is amazing. Burgers cooked to perfect and the customer service is very nice as well. I always recommend this place whenever I can! read more

This place has the best burgers in town but it could use some renovations aside from that it is really good.

Food is always great. It's just the staff that doesn't seem to care. I get it you're stuck in a 12x12 space making burgers all day but, the cooks look all mad and creepy and give you all these looks. There is this on kid on the register who is real nice. It's just the vibes on those cooks... read more

Hadn't been here in a while but, it seems like not much has changed! This place makes you feel really nostalgic! Small, simple McAllen staple, nothing fancy about it which gives it more charm. If you're looking for some good ol' fashioned greasy burgers & fries this is it! Personally I love their fish sandwich & burritos! One good upgrade is that they now accept credit cards ;-) read more

This place holds a dear place in my heart. I know, I know, "blech" but so be it. In my family, going out to eat has always been an ordeal since it is hard to find places where everyone will be happy. Well, Starlite has always made everyone happy. The food is simple. The burgers are simple, home-style. Nothing fancy. Their flavor reminds me of Whataburger. Love the fries-they're not overly friend and crispy like most places. They are homely fries but delicious nonetheless. I love to ask for a cup of nacho cheese to dip them in. They recently upgraded the decor and now looks more like a 50's style burger diner. They have cute vintage dining sets that looks straight out from Grease. There are old-fashioned tin advertisements on the wall, mostly Coca-Cola, adding to the old-timey vibe to the place. They also added milkshakes to the menu. I was very tempted to try a huckleberry ice cream shake, but next time for sure. Check out the mint-green milkshake maker. Such a great place. And as you would expect, super affordable! Cash only though! read more

Hadn't eaten here in awhile so I decided to give it a try once again AND I was disappointed! Fries were soggy, like they had been sitting in the fryer for awhile and the burger patty tasted like it had freezer burn. If you're looking for a good homemade burger, don't come here, just stay your butt at home and cook it yourself. read more

Starlite Burger No 1 - Burger combo $4.99 plus tax. Their fries are awesome - Fast Food Near Me - McAllen, Texas

You can never go wrong with a burger, fries and a coke from this place. They have delicious nachos. I had a bad experience ordering chicken wings from this location. That doesn't keep me away. I will order the burger combo and be delightfully satisfied. P. S. The Starlite location in Edinburg, in my opinion has the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. read more

Old school burgers from a Valley original. Come by and enjoy walking into a time capsule. Other than the plasma tv you would swear you were in the 60's. The place could use face lift but they would risk loosing the nostalgic theme. Enjoy on your cheat day because there is no diet food here! read more

I've been eating here for over 40 years. Best burritos in town. The mini burgers ate awesome like their fish and shrimp plate. This place is awesome and super family oriented. read more

I've lived in this area for over 30 years and never before had I eaten here though I'd heard about it often and driven past it from time to time. Last night I passed by and saw their burgers were on sale for $1.79 and thought "why not?" I was not disappointed. The place is very old but cozy and reminds me of an old diner. The burgers were outstanding - delicious and very similar in taste to Stars. I am only knocking off 1 star because the guy that took my order was grumpy and unhelpful. Dude if you hate your job so much - leave. Also it took a little too long for the food to come out. I'll definitely be back, glad I finally tried this place. read more

i'd never been here before until this friday may 24, 2019 and I have the say this is the first place other than wallbangers that has buns that are big and delicious with the meat being juicy. I had gotten a bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles and when they say extra they aren't kidding the pickle amount was just right not one or two pickles but over 5 which I love. The fries however were a little too soggy for me but we're still good. So thank you for the experience. read more

As you can see, I did not like anything about this place. I ordered a double meat combo with cheese and a piece of fried chicken. It cost over 12 dollars which is not a lot of money but I felt like I was robbed. Please do not eat at this place. read more

I would have gave it a five stars but the fries were very soggy but the burger was very big and good but it was also kind of soggy.

My Starlite Burger, hmmmm!!! well if you're in to good food and good service and the best treats, I recommend Starlite Burgers.
