I think this is the closest thing to a food "hole in the wall" Islington has. Just five weeks ago…read moreCafé Brasileiro popped up as a clean, tasty and friendly establishment. It's also adorable with a lovely man serving and making all the food out the back. I walked past this place this morning and thought, "I must pop in for lunch, this place looks too cute." I'm so glad I did! Browsing the menu there is a host of Brazilian home baked delights on offer, from chicken croquettes to cheesey dough dumplings. I went for one of their home made sandwiches filled with egg mayo and tonnes of salad. That with an apple cost no more than £3. What a great value lunch. They do have a little sitting area for 2 people that you can eat at. It's really nice because you can sit and watch the world go by while munching your lunch. I am so going back here to try the rest of their menu as well as their coffee. Well done Café Brasileiro, I can't wait to see you grow ever popular with the locals.

So every day I'd hot foot it down and stuff my face with salgadinhos (snacks) and brush up on my portuguese with the owner. So I really didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he said that he moving on and to be replaced by a Vietnamese cafe (my second favourite food in the world). Where oh where do I get my snack-fix now?!

Having my Brazilian boyfriend in tow also made this a no-brainer, it may be miserable weather here but at least we can pretend we are somewhere far more tropical! It was happy hour when we arrived so we both ordered a Brahma and perused the menu which features main meals and Brazilian tapas. We ordered pao de queijo to start, cheesy dough balls which I have previously made myself at home. Undoubtedly tasty, but the £4 price tag for six small balls was a little steep when I know I can make about 100 of said balls for the same price!! For main course we went for the sharing platter of picanha aperativo - rump steak with cassava chips, fried onions and salad garnish. The received the thumbs up from the native Brazilian, high praise indeed. He felt the flavours were spot on, only the quality of the cut could be improved in the restaurants back home. If this is a good example of Brazilian food, I can't wait to get out there and try it for myself, although I will come back about three stone heavier! The space was attractive and comfortable, with further seating space available downstairs. The staff were friendly and helpful, and not overbearing. Overall, a brilliant place to escape the craziness that is Camden.

Just about tolerable but otherwise quite sub-standard for a Soho restaurant, Rodizio Preto may look…read moreinviting enough from the outside but in reality is a bit fake.  First tip is don't sit downstairs as the upstairs salad bar looks much fresher and has more variety than the one hidden downstairs. The vegetables, rice and beans that were available at the downstairs salad bar looked unappetising, cold and somewhat soggy with neglect. As for the meat, yes they do serve different cuts of beef, chicken, lamb and Brazilian sausage often but they all share a common saltiness which my group of diners all concluded must be a ploy to make you yearn for and order more drink and dessert. In addition to this, the well-done sirloin steak is too tough - the kind of texture that is difficult to chew and the bacon wrap was literally so salty that even though it was tiny, it was difficult to consume.  Meanwhile, the barman not only did not know what drinks to recommend other than mojito, he also wasn't familiar with what was contained in 'The Preto' - supposedly the restaurant's signature drink. The other staff were not much better; yes I understand that this is a self-service buffet but a lack of welcome or any hint of a smile did not go unnoticed. I suspect that a dining experience on the ground floor would be better than my experience in their downstairs dining area but I can only judge on what I had and frankly the ethos all around did feel like a money-making mission rather than an attempt on delivering quality food and service.

Well, sometimes you have to value service, it might not always be like that but the service I received was great, absolutely everyone were great! Considering the price, I think is a great option hands down, I've been to other churrascarias where I've paid a lot more and the experience was bad! I will definitely eat at Preto when I return to London!

A lot of their furniture is made out of recyclable materials. Their lights and seats outside are made out of large paint cans. They use old wine and spirit bottles as candle holders, the entire interior is made out of wood and walls plastered with vintage posters and newspaper. Their glassware adds a very classic and vintage-y atmosphere. If you head all the way to the back, there's an roof window that allows sunlight in. I LOVE IT! Brunch. I haven't had mango or papaya in ages! And this place just had the right amount of meat and tropical fruits served on a fancy ass wooden bark tray! I got an English breakfast (Lol, because I suck) and it came with two perfect sunny side ups, sausages and my own little pot of beans! *cries* My partner got the Brazilian brunch set that came with a variety of cheese and ham, served with tropical juice of your choice. We got the mango smoothie, it was thick and delicious! None of that too much ice sh*t I can't say much about their lunch or dinner (clearly cause I haven't had any), but the breakfast and brunch selection seems to be good. Coffee was ok, complimented our food though. The service is good. It's like going to your best friend's house and the mum just wants you to be fed. It's a really comfortable and warm atmosphere. I almost cried. Kidding.
