Bad Customer Service/ Bad Facial Francesca was 15 minutes late. Her phone rang multiply times during our appointment. Both answering and making a call to Martin, her construction worker, all during our appointment. She left the room multiply times to get supplies as well as tell another employee and client to be quiet in the name of my relaxation. LMFAO. Her lack of skin knowledge shocked me. She said makeup protects skin....wtf? She didn't extract half of what should have been extracted. Her long, unkept hair fell in my face multiple times....ewww and she was dressed in skimpy yoga gear. Not professional or knowledgable. My skin didn't feel any cleaner or more hydrated then after a normal shower and home cleanse. Had a great, MUCH needed, deep tissue massage! I bought the Groupon because it was a good deal for a 90 minute massage. Like some of the other reviews mention, this is NOT your typical day spa. It's located in a chiropractic office. For me, this was no problem. I came for a good massage and that's what I got! I arrived after 5 so there was nobody in the office except the male receptionist, who was very nice and friendly, and my massage therapist. I had a male and he was very knowledgeable and professional. I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders, and he was quick to notice all the areas that needed special attention. I left feeling very relaxed and more aware of my "problem areas". I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quality massage. If you need all the bells & whistles of a Spa, this may not be the place for you. read more

I'm giving one star because I can't give 0. This place was not anything like what it is advertised to be. I purchased a Groupon for a 1 hour massage. The website clearly advertised this place as "Spa," but BEWARE it is NOT! I first arrived to the building looking for a spa, but none in sight, when I found their office, it was not a spa, but a Drs office. The inside was cold and uninviting, the smell reminded me of being sick as a child and sitting in a pediatricians office, the man sitting at the reception was wearing a white lab coat and the "therapist" that came to greet me was wearing scrubs. Not only that, he was cold and made me feel very uncomfortable. There was no way I would have been able to relax in an environment like that. I walked right out and the business still redeemed my Groupon, even though I did not receive any services. If you are looking for the spa experience DO NOT GO HERE. As far as a massage goes, this is a pretty epic place to get one. As far as ambiance, things could definitely be a bit better. Sean was my therapist for the 90-minute deep tissue massage my mom found on Groupon, and it was a wonderful 90 minutes. He was excellent at working through the knots in my back, and I was really impressed with how thorough and attentive he was. My mom mentioned that her massage was the best she's ever had. They got started a bit late, but were apologetic so it wasn't a big deal. Beware, though, this is not a place to come if you're looking for the typical spa experience. It's in a small doctor's office, so the tiny waiting room can get crowded. There's no locker room to change, no fluffy robe--you're going for the massage, not the ambiance. But everyone is friendly and helpful, and they do their best to make it feel like a little tiny massage oasis inside of a chiropractor's office. Sometimes successful, sometimes not. Which is fine, I'm completely okay with that. What doesn't work super well for me is that because it's a doctor's office, I can hear people talking outside of the massage room while my technician is working out the kinks in my back. And when someone microwaves their food for lunch, I can smell it. It takes me slightly out of the relaxation and mode and plops me back into real-world mode. Not sure what they can do about that except maybe insulate the room a bit better or turn up the jams. However, the massage truly is excellent. Got here 15 min early expecting to fill out some paperwork, no one was at the front, the only person working was the therapist, who was with a client. Just a word of advice for you guys, someone could totally come here and steal all the stuff you have laying around. I finish the paperwork on the counter and ring the bell, and a really sweaty looking beefy dude comes out of the massage room and says, you must be my next client. At this point, I don't know if I should stay or not because to be honest, I couldn't imagine him as my massage therapist. If I was in jail and needed protection, he'd be my dude! But imagining him trying to be my massage therapist... In any case, he tells me straight up, it's going to be another 20 minutes because the previous person was late. Well that's not my problem! If they are late and you want to give them the full time you should have at least called me so I wouldn't be waiting around, alone, in a tiny lobby in an otherwise empty building. I decide to wait, because my friend had told me about Dr. Brock's office, and how she really enjoyed the massages here. But I'm feeling iffier by the minute. Finally it's my turn, and I'll be honest, besides the huffing, puffing, and sweating (yup, it was hot in there. And yup I think at one point I actually felt a drop of sweat come down on my back) the massage actually wasn't bad. We got a coupon booklet and my Mom and I decided to do the B1G1 Free Smooth Rock massage. She called and scheduled an appointment for a Saturday at 3pm. The proprietor called us TWO times, once to confirm the appointment and another time to change the time and to inform us that there were not two female masseuse's available at the same time for us to have our massages at the same time. We changed our time to 2pm that same Saturday to accommodate the change in availability. We arrived at the place and the male masseuse was available to take my mom for her massage and I was told that my masseuse would be available in a couple minutes. I never got an update on the availability of my masseuse. She finally came out at 2:30, for a 2pm appointment. The masseuse, Tatianna, came out at 2:30pm to announce that she was ready for me and I said that I didn't want the massage anymore as my appointment was for 2pm. All she had to say was "Ohh..." and then disappeared, then she left for the day. I didn't want my Mom to wait after her massage. The person at the front desk said nothing to me about my masseuse and when she would be available. Not a sorry, didn't offer to reschedule or anything. After my Mom was done with her massage, come to find out she didn't get the scheduled Smooth Rock Massage, she got a Swedish massage instead. I don't understand how there could be such miscommunication when there were 3 conversations about having massages at the same time and both have Smooth Rock Massages. Bought a Groupon for 3 facials. Just got my first one today. It's not a spa, more of a doctor's office, but the room where the facial happens is spa-like. Cynthia was great. It was an organic facial. She asked if I had any concerns and explained what the process would be like. No extractions, but the steam, plus two machines she used seemed to do the job. Touch of wellness is the best kept secret in LB. I have tried countless massage therapists always leaving feeling mediocre, NOW I have a weekly or bimonthly massage with Sean and the search is over. I always tell him to do whatever technique he feels to help relieve my muscle tension and knots and he uses multiple techniques. I always leave the massage feeling lighter, happier, and most importantly looser. Sean is by far the most talented massage therapist I have ever been to. I bought a Group On for a 60 minute massage. I have called Touch of Wellness two times to arrange a massage and I have not received a phone call back either time. In the second message I left, I even said that I had called before but received no call back from them and I still received no response! On the several occasions I have called to see if I could reach a live person to talk to all I get is a standard voicemail greeting that doesn't even announce the name of the business. The whole thing seems quite sketchy to me. This is a shame since I am within walking distance of their location. I will be calling Group On today to request a refund. Just wanted to give an update. I was just on the phone with Group On and it turns out I had this same problem with Touch of Wellness two years ago and I had to get a refund back then also. Buyer beware! Also I was just reviewing some of the more recent better reviews and noticed a pattern of them from people located in different parts of the country. Given the fact that this business is not in the tourist area of Long Beach makes one question the validity of the reviews. No proof but something to consider. read more

I feel pretty disappointed that I have to write this review, but hopefully in the end it will help the business change some things because I believe it has potential. I bought a Groupon deal for a 60 minute massage. The male receptionist was very nice over the phone and in person. I was paired up with a male massage therapist because there were no females available for the time I wanted to go in. No problem. The reason for my visit was some intense upper back and neck pain after sleeping wrong. The pain had been there for about a week. I let my massage therapist know of this right away. The massage started out fine with a little bit of conversation to ease into the massage. But then this guy kept talking, and talking, and talking, and talking. For the entire hour massage!!! I couldn't relax for a second!!! This guy would not stop talking. I started to try to respond as little as possible saying things like exactly, yeah, that's funny. But he would go a few seconds and then start up again! Not only that, he would stop what he was doing and start making hand gestures, or motions on my back and legs in the middle of the massage. He also commented about the small size of my feet and hands and held my hand up to his to show me, while I'm naked under a blanket on my back. It was SO unprofessional. Of course I want to be pleasant and nice and make some small talk at first, but dear god, the ENTIRE HOUR. I left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed and like the areas I asked him to target were not taken care of at all. I feel like this business should refund me, or have a very strict talk with this massage therapist. I'd be happy to give them his name. I give a two star because I know they all mean well and mistakes happen. But this is a professional industry with standards and this was absolutely unprofessional and subpar. read more

Nidia!!! She is FANTASTIC!!! The deep tissue was the best I have every had (and I have gotten a lot) due to my sciatica, and shoulder problems. I purchased the group-on offer and was able to have my choice of massage + ORGANIC scalp treatment. I suffer from scalp psoriasis and no one has ever made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Work gets overwhelming sometimes so this is a way to bring your mind and body back to where it needs to be! As I was leaving, the wonderful front office receptionist gave me the opportunity to do their 6 month plan, $25 dollars down and for the next half of a year you can have $45-$55 full body massages!I think I will be doing that! I got my first facial service here with Francesca in March, the skin care specialist. It was nice and soothing and relaxing, i had only been getting facials every so often maybe one every 6 months or so. But when i really noticed that I loved it was the next day and few days after I got a facial from her. I noticed a big difference in my skin, it was clear and had regained that sort of natural glow, not kidding, so worth it. I went back in April and same thing, just super soft, clear healthy skin again. No breakouts. I will probably be going to her every month now because for the first time I really see results and Francesca is very good at what she does. I paid $55, not sure if that promotion price is still going on but it's very much worth it! read more

Time went by after the emails and then the groupon expired without me realizing. I have called and emailed after that as well and still no response. I was extremely dissatisfied with the service I received at this facility. I was visited by a door to door salesperson who was selling books of vouchers for $59.95. He explained this was part of Dr. Johnson Brock's Community Appreciation Program; a way of promoting his new chiropractic and spa business in the community. I purchased the voucher book and decided to start by using my voucher for "ONE FREE BODY WRAP". I first made an appointment for Friday afternoon. Later that day I received a call asking me to change the appointment to Saturday. I agreed. My Saturday appointment was for 11:00 AM. At 10:15 Saturday morning I was called and asked to change the appointment time to noon, as the esthetician needed time to warm the water. I again agreed. When I arrived at noon, I still had to wait because the esthetician had to warm the rags. (I thought that's what she did between 11:00 and 12:00.) After all of this somewhat unprofessional behavior, I finally got into the room with the esthetician and removed my clothing. And AFTER I WAS UNDRESSED LAYING ON THE TABLE, she tells me that the free wrap was not a body wrap as the voucher indicated, but only a partial body wrap and that she only warmed enough linens to do a portion of my body. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE VOUCHER READ. I found this to be so deceitful and misleading that I chose to get dressed and walk out without my procedure. The sales representative from whom I purchased the voucher book indicated this doctor was offering this Community Appreciation Program in order to promote his new business. But his outreach efforts are ruined by the lack of service actually received at his facility. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Luckily I still had time to cancel payment on the check I wrote for $59.95. read more

Not only was the creepy old guy trying to sneak a peak of my on table but it wasn't even a real table. I was afraid if I moved at all the thing would break under me. I have had massages at some of the most elaborate and expensive Spa's in California and none of the physical therapist massages have equated to that given by Sean. Regardless of my pains or tension, he takes great care of my needs and always restores me. He soothes my tired muscles, realigns my energy, and I always walk out feeling rejuvenated and recovered. He is thorough and he knows where the muscles are attached, where the tension is, and how to release it. He not only addresses your needs but also offers a perspective to maintaining body balance and harmony. I've been going to Sean for over two years on a bi-monthly basis, and I feel that he truly cares about my well-being. Thank you Sean!! You are THE BEST massage therapist out there. read more

It appears someone is using Yelp as an outlet to vent their own frustrations in life. Perhaps some therapy beyond massage could assuage this one. If you look at the company site and links, it's an established small family led business where wife is a licensed therapist manager and husband an independent neuro-chiropractic specialist (commended by President of the U.S. for charitable services to an underserved community). The first attack is on a therapist for wearing SCRUBS. What else would you expect? If the focus is more on dress than massage, then look for a tuxedo or robe (as in Hefner) just 20 miles farther to Beverly Hills. The main search, after all, is about a half-price deal on Groupon for God's sake. As far as smelling like a doctor's office -- it's not a medical doctor's place. Instead there may be helpful and appreciated hints of eucalyptus in the air. And from web pics the rooms look invitingly decorous and ambient. Missed in all of this is the fact you have a doctor on board who is available to therapists for advice and in case of emergency. How more extra beneficial to health can a surrounding be? And it's free. Not all massage places have doctors. I would give this oasis in Long Beach 10 stars but it only goes as high as 5. read more

Greg is one of the best massage therapists I have ever come across. He knows what he is doing and is very knowledgeable of the body's anatomy. He starts by getting to know you, asking what your goals are, finding out your trouble areas and any injuries he should know about. I really wanted him to focus on my neck and shoulders, where I seem to hold a lot of tension. So that's exactly what he did. I bought a groupon for 3 facials here. Although the price was great, I will not be going back to redeem my other 2 .This is not a "spa", it is a tiny office in an office park, not even marked on the door. I had to call them to see which suite they were in. Although Francesca was nice, she was not super knowledgeable, and unprofessional. She was late for my appointment, we didnt even get started until 15 minutes after my start time, but was still ended at the hour mark, so I got less than 45 minutes, and She left the room MANY times, and I feel there was no reason to, theres a sink in the room. There were no pads on my eyes when she had the bright exam light an inch from my face, and when she sprayed my face with a hydrating mist, she then said "and some for me" and proceeded to mist her OWN face (more times than mine) sighing about how nice it felt. She talked about the construction going on at her house, unasked. I want QUIET during my facial! I broke out after the facial, and I NEVER break out. She was very rough with the few extractions she did. I give myself better facials at home. read more
