Esquite- marinated corn in a cup

We visited Totoro's for an early dinner on a Wednesday night while in Naperville. When we arrived we there was only one other family seated inside so we were able to order right away. The friendly cashier greeted us right away and offered menus. I ordered a chicken Gordita, rice & beans and small chips and guacamole. My friend ordered a Gordita, 2 tacos, and esquites. We were offered any salsa we wanted for our entrees and asked for an assortment. The chips and guacamole came out first. The chips were a large portion. The guacamole was creamy but was missing something. The food came out next next! Everything was super fresh. The Gordita was larger than expected and piping hot. Well stuffed with chicken, cheese, beans and topped with lettuce and tomatoes. It was fresh and hot but the chicken was lacking in flavor. The side of rice and beans was a generous portion (I was able to share it). My friend loved the tacos. The esquites were a little heavy on the cream so that made the temperature lukewarm to cold. As we sat inside the dinner rush started. I would return again in the future. The service was friendly, the portions were generous, and the location was convenient.

We stopped by last night, to dine in this time. There is only one table and some counter seating. We grabbed a couple of seats at the counter. We got the chicken tostada, 3 taco plate with rice and beans - two chicken and one chorizo. We also got chicken tamale and pineapple and coconut tamale - which was new to us. It tasted sooo good, I could've easily eaten three of them. All the food tasted good. My only complaint is about the salsas, they only give a couple of small salsa containers with the food. Each time we wanted some more, they only gave us these two small containers. Would love if they have some other salsa option when dining in. Otherwise, the food is really good.

Legit Mexican food in Naperville. I lived here a few years and yearned for good Mexican food. Totopos opened the year I moved. Happy to now have a great place to go when I visit. - Located in a strip mall. Only one table in the corner and a high bay against the window - the lady working the counter was fantastic. Talked with passion and knowledge about the menu, prep style, seasonings, etc. - I had the chiliquiles and y'all...they were legit. Over easy eggs, extra sauce (my request) and a well prepped chorizo (good flavor and not greasy). Flavor of the sauce was fantastic. - chips still were firm, which allowed the sauce to hold the eggs and chorizo when eating. Beans and rice were well flavored (assuming the beans were cooked w lard - which is the only way to go). - my companions had the steak breakfast burrito and the veggie breakfast burrito. As you can see, they are seared on the grill after prep for a nice crunchy outside. I will be back - every time I am near Naperville. Kinda wish I was there now.

Great spot for Mexican food. Everyone there is friendly and everything is made fresh. I've had quite a few of the tacos, the vegan tostada, quesadillas and pazole and enjoyed all of them. It's a small place and looks like most people order to go, but there is seating to eat there. Make sure to read the signs because that is often where you will find options that are not on the menu.

Great lunch spot for speedy service. My coworker had a torta and I ordered the steak burrito. I enjoyed the red sauce. My belly was happy when we left. Small but quaint. I will return.

Amazing local haunt with the best tortas! Recommend calling ahead because it can get busy during the lunch rush.

We stayed in one of the panoramic rooms which was less luxurious than expected because of the sound of the highway and the views being mostly of a parking lot, highway and a pond. I had to sleep with AirPods in to drown out the sound of the highway. The breakfast selection was okay, some mornings better than others. (I especially liked the days with bacon!) My wife and I were nearing the end of our ten day upper Midwest road trip, and needed a place to sleep on Friday night before taking a Saturday flight back to LAX from Chicago. I used Hyatt properties exclusively throughout the trip since I have a nice stash of points to use for free nights. I had reserved a stay at the Hyatt Place in Munster, IN, since it was very close to my wife's relatives who we were meeting that night for dinner. However, a couple of days before, received an email from the Munster Hyatt Place that many of their rooms did not have air conditioning because of the storms that had passed through their area the prior week. So ended up canceling the reservation (Hyatt will return your points if you cancel at least 24 hours before your stay) and decided to book something that was closer to where we were going to pick up my wife's mom the next day. The Hyatt Regency Lisle was the closest and also had the best redemption (at only 6,000 points). I was surprised at the low cost for a Regency, but figured it must be the location. We ended up checking in late, around 10 pm. Since we had to catch our flight the next day, we had to bring all of our luggage and various knick-knacks that we've been purchasing (and dumping into the back seat of our rental car) and bring it all upstairs. There was nobody out in front (which wasn't a big deal), but absolutely no luggage carts anywhere to be found. The lobby was empty, with one lone guy manning the check-in desk. He checked us in, told us we had a room on the 3rd floor. Hyatt sends out surveys after visits, and one of the questions asked if the guest had been recognized as a loyal member of Hyatt. The only times it did not happen during our road trips, was at the two Hyatt Regencies, this one included. Built in 1988 and last renovated in 2012, with 317 rooms and 13 floors. Thus elevators are a must. Well, two of the three elevators were out of service, and from the look of the sign, seemed like for a while. It has enough meeting spaces and ballrooms to host large events. And there was definitely night events happening, with the low price of rooms and it being a Friday night. There was no bottled water offered, so my wife went to the ice maker to get ice to melt down for water the next morning. We also spent a bit of time packing our bags, making sure we didn't hit the 50 lb limit (I had purchased beer to bring home so it was a bit of a challenge, but we made do). The room was definitely an older style, but the room and BR was clean with a shower/tub combo. It was meant to be a place to get in/out for an overnight stay, and figured I had done alright. There is no complementary breakfast at Regencies, so decided to checkout (via the app) and leave by 9am. I should have guessed what would happen...with only one elevator working, and people all trying to get to the lobby to leave, each elevator stopping on the 3rd floor was already full by the time it reached us (since there were 10 floors of people above us). After waiting 10 plus minutes, letting 2 elevators leave without us, was determined to get onto the 3rd one. It was full and a young women said 'Oh no, there is no room'. Yeah, I was a bit of an ass in making space for my wife and our bags (didn't ask..just told the people in front, "No..We are getting on...please make room). People were not happy, with some smartass in the back grumbling..."it's only the 3rd floor...you could have taken the stairs"...lol...pretty sure he didn't have any luggage. Luckily the elevator didn't break down with all the people, and we got out of there as fast as possible as soon as the door opened. Reading reviews, it was clear that the elevator situation has been bad for a while now...should have read Yelp before making the reservation. Lesson learned!

As soon as we walked in, we knew it was going to be a great experience. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor tables available as well as a traditional deli counter. They also have a drive thru! You can choose to order at the counter or be seated with a more traditional restaurant-like service. Our waiter was young but very professional and provided great recommendations. To start, they bring a complimentary bowl of bagel chips (a unique twist and a great way to repurpose old bagels). For my meal, I had a half American sandwich with a bowl of matzo ball soup. It was simple but delicious. On our way out, we stopped at the deli and ordered a few rugelach. They tasted so fresh! My favorite was the apricot flavor. Definitely hope to be back real soon to support such a great spot! Shana Tova!

It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.
