Having a best friend who is sober, I've been to a lot of bars and tried a lot of N/A cocktails. Quiubo is a favorite of hers so we go often. They have a couple of N/A cocktails that are really delicious using N/A spirits. They might cost $13 each, but at least they don't taste like you're drinking a Snapple. As a former bartender, she's really picky about her mocktails. We like to sit at the bar for drinks and chips/guac, but we come here for tacos and esquites sometimes too. It's a great restaurant with great food and service On nice days, sit outside. It's covered and shaded and a nice way to have lunch or dinner

We had margaritas here before and decided to eat here too. First of all, the margaritas are served in a gin and tonic glass not a traditional margarita glass. They were also more yellow than green and kind of small, and just OK not as good as we remembered. We both ordered tacos, and my wife's tacos came to the table, but mine didn't appear until 10 minutes later. Not ideal and that's never happened to us at a restaurant before. The place was not busy either. Their tacos are very small, compared to most places, and they almost all have odd, nontraditional ingredients in them like pineapple, squid ink, etc.. Also there are no chips and salsa unless you buy them, which is unheard of around here for a Mexican restaurant. We passed on the guacamole, because they put a pear on top. On guacamole? Come on!Their tacos are all à la carte and if you want frijoles, you have to order them on the side additionally. Our waiter answered all our questions about the ingredients in the salsa sauce and did a good job with that. They have big hydraulic windows that they can raise when the temperature allows it. They were of course down when we were there as it was cool out. We also found a 3% "Restaurant Surcharge" added to our bill. It was marked "optional" so I guess you could ask them to take it off.

Comfortable restaurant near the Naperville downtown River walk. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for outside and it was a great day for it. There were some showers for 5 minutes but the outdoor seating had a cover so we did not get even a drop on us. It took a few minutes for our server to get to is, though she was friendly and provided good service once she started interacting with us. We order the Trio Botanero and half order of Cecina, Pollo Asado, and Pastor. All the food was great! Favorite was probably the Cecina. The meat was so tender and flavors balanced so well. All three are good choices!

We were sat down immediately and our waitress came and greeted us. She was very lively, lovely and attentive. The place was very nice and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. I got the pastor tacos, esquites and the fresona. The fresona was pretty tasty, my date said it was a bit strong, I personally thought it was fine. The esquites were pretty tasty as well but a tad bit salty. The pastor tacos were also pretty good but I was kinda let down, usually pastor tacos are made with a fatty pork meat not ground pork. Also the meat mixture had a similar texture to chili, which was weird. However, they still tasted good. My date enjoyed his food and while it was pretty good it wasn't anything to rave about 3.75/5.

Who doesn't ask a taco place is they have Taco Tuesday deals? Yuuup, this gal right here. Don't be me, lol, make sure to see if they have any deals if dining in on a Tuesday. And please let me know if they have any, haha. If you're looking for a city-ish vibe without the paid city parking Quiubo is the place for it. There is plenty of parking lots within walking distance and also street parking (if lucky, you'll be able to snag a spot). This place is cute and gives off a 'I'm at an all inclusive resort' vibe. Within seconds of walking in my friend and I were greeted by a staff member and seated. Service throughout was pretty good, our server checked in on us the perfect amount. Our app took a bit to come out but other than that everything else was timed out well. I started with the mango mamon cocktail. This drink is tequila based and fruity. I enjoyed it! For food we started out with the chicken flautas. They did NOT look appealing and unfortunately it also fell short. The chicken was waaaaaay overcooked. The green sauce was good but this is something that I would pass on going forward. We then ordered 2 full orders of tacos - pescado and the bien trucha. Both were very delicious and flavorful. The reason why I took off 1 star - Quiubo is on the pricey side with small portions. I understand quality over quantity but is it THAT good given the steep prices and small portions? Meh, IDK

    Pepino & sandia margaritas

Looooove this place!! If you are looking for a hole in the wall, no frills, authentic Mexican restaurant...then this is not the place for you. Quiubo has fantastic margaritas (some of the best I've ever had) and cocktails. No artificial flavors or syrups are used so they're fresh and delicious every single time. They don't use margarita glasses, which I prefer, since places that do use them typically have bad and overly citrusy/sweet margs. Their bartending staff is limited since the bar space is a little small so drinks can take a while but it doesn't bother me since the drinks are amazing and worth the wait in my opinion. The food is pricey and the portions small, but this is a fancier/gourmet Mexican restaurant. You're paying for the quality ingredients. Aside from the price, the food itself is really good. Even though this place has "fancier" Mexican food, all of it is authentic and delicious. But, like I mentioned earlier, if you want no frills Mexican food, this is not the place for you. I come here at least once a month and am never disappointed! Pricing is on par with Chicago restaurants of this caliber which is the trend Naperville is heading towards so take that into consideration if you're trying to find somewhere cheap to eat.

    Tacos

The service was disappointing. The waitress didn't seem interested in serving us and didn't even bother refilling our water. We were charged $20 for four "mini" tacos, even though the menu listed them as regular tacos. When we asked for hot sauce, she brought a tiny container and added an extra $2 to our bill for it. Not recommended, and we will not be returning.

Went here for the first time with our family and Quiubo is amazing! We have lived in Naperville for about six months and moved out here from southern CA which is the US capital of Mexican food and I can say Quiubo can definitely compete! The ambiance and crowd is amazing and the servers/staff were incredibly attentive. The guacamole trio was great (had to ask for more chips a couple times because the proportion of chips to guacamole was too small). Got a margarita which was great. We also got the bien trucha tacos and the carnitas tacos and both of those tasted amazing. I don't know why some people give this place a low rating because yes the food can be pricey but it is top quality. If you want cheap Mexican food and don't care about cleanliness and atmosphere, go to a hole in the wall. If you want good, Mexican food and drinks, amazing ambiance, and quality food, go to Quiubo.

    Bien trucha: top Barbacoa: bottom

Server is really kind great service 10/10 reason I came back. Time to receive food was about 5-8 minutes not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Watermelon margarita doesn't fail me 8/10. Ordered Half orders of Playero taco: shrimp so good! The sauce was delicious great flavor profile Bien trucha: it was much better the first time but still good Pastor: 8/10 not too oily and great flavor Barbacoa: 7.5/10 I'd definitely order the playero and al pastor again.

I think something they can do to minimize this is to have wait times for when your party can arrive or be more strict about how many people they let in at once. Things that are unique about this spot is the ambiance and the iron branch-like artwork on the walls and throughout the bar. It's a cool atmosphere when the lights are dimmed as they have fun colored up-lighting to set the mood. There's a little outdoor bar called "the shanty" and it is the best spot to be if you visit in the summer. The DJ is usually always spot on for the crowd; usually a mix of modern EDM and early 2000's hip hop throwbacks. The dance floor is small but was packed. There is a semi-private table area by the bar that you can reserve for a group party. If you ever are planning to come here for a birthday or any type of celebration I'd recommend you reserve this table/booth area so your group has a place to sit or at least stand. You also get a server assigned to your table! Like I mentioned, on a busy Friday or Saturday night, this place is packed shoulder to shoulder like a college bar. If that's the scene you're looking for, you're in the right spot! They should staff at least 6 bar tenders for the influx of people but they only have two or three tops. You can tell they are hardworking bartenders but it is impossible to serve that many people. The women's bathroom was rough. It's small and there's hardly any room to wait inside or outside the bathroom. Because the place is so crowded, I got bumped and spilled on multiple times just standing outside the bathroom door. The garbage was overflowing and something from the ceiling was dripping and of course landing on me. Maybe it was a rough night for them to keep up overall but this experience wasn't what I had in mind to help a dear friend celebrate her birthday.

Altavida's concepts for the three levels are Publico, Rumba, and Altura. Publico (1st Flr)- A South American fusion of food and drinks that will be rotating. The food menu currently offers tapas, empanadas, ceviche, guacamoles, larger format meat/seafood entrees, and more. They will have a front of our bar as well as a back bar that will specialize in more coffees/coffee cocktails. Rumba (2nd Flr)- The entertainment floor! There is a separate bar on this floor that will specialize in more Rum based cocktails. Additionally, they will have a wine bar area with wines in tap. Lastly, they will have an open area for live music as well as dancing. Their hope is to have a mix of jazz, club music, salsa dancing options available. Altura (3rd Flr)- This floor is still under construction but will have a rooftop patio. The hope is that this space will be an event space both for public and private events. Back to my experience! My partner and I stopped in for a cocktail and to see what Altavida was about. Our first bartender was very nice but was still getting used to the drink recipes and was leaning on their cheat sheets. While we waited, another bartender kindly told us all about the restaurant and its focus on hospitality. Unfortunately, each bartender had a slightly different explanation of the restaurant's goal concepts which was confusing. We ended up ordering the El Toro and Vaquero (both mezcal drinks). Both were VERY spirit forward to the point that it may have needed better balance. Both drinks had a nice presentation with garnishes, color, and a skull feature at the bottom of the glass. Lastly, we saw many people walk up and look confused as there was no formal host stand. They didn't know if they should seat themselves or wait for someone. Overall, there still seems to be some kinks needing to be worked out as well as some conceptual editing. I feel they are trying to achieve too much and it ends up being confusing for staff and guests. I hope with time, Altavida is extremely successful in the Naperville area and I hope to circle back after some time passes.
