Combo Queso Rotisserie chicken taco Shrimp taco
    Katie N.

This restaurant has plenty of options for tacos and bowls including veggie options. I went with a combo with one shrimp taco and one rotisserie chicken taco. Both of the tacos were packed full! The shrimp one had so much shrimp in it. For my side, I got the queso and it was tasty. Combo also comes with a soft drink. I feel like it was a decent amount of food. My husband and I also split a piece of their red velvet cake and OMG! So good! The cashier that took our order was super friendly. I noticed that she was that way with all of the guests. The food did take a little bit, and we got there before a busy dinner rush. I see this place doing well in the new Block 59 addition.

Good vibe. And musica for a tasteful flavor explosion at Velvet taco. I came for their soft opening, and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It's fast casual with food made to order. They pause the music and call out your name when order is ready. I personally had the brisket barbacoa bowl which was great. A filling meal, the meat was tender but had the right chew still. The dining room is comfortable and trendy. Since they were testing their service and being max full I'm sure it was a bit slower than what it'll be, but the food is definitely worth it. The staff was hard at work and was friendly. I'll definitely be back for another taco dinner next time. Gosh I always choose something other than what theyre known for. I should have gotten tacos instead as the flight of tacos that my friends shared seemed really spectacular! The plaza Velvet taco is in is relatively new Block 59. Was very difficult to find parking at 530pm on a Saturday. The margarita is good and strong. Sangria has a good wine taste and the right sweetness. Steak was very good my kids devoured it. Shrimp was good smoky flavor. Though the kids thought that the bowls were spicy. I think if the kids get bowls again, that they have pico de Gallo on the side. And queso instead of the crema sauces. Adults would love the blend of flavors. It's a solid A meal. Great to spend time with friends.

I've been here several times (as well as a location in Dallas) and very much enjoy their food. A few quibbles. - The menu is big and each dish has lots of ingredients, so study up on what you'll order before you go or you will be standing there forever figuring it out. - The same dish hasn't always been consistent: one time I ordered the chimmichuri taco and it was spicy, another time it was blow your head off spicy. - It's pretty loud in here. Music is hard to talk over, and it's fast casual, so you order at the counter and then someone is blaring over the loudspeaker, "Johnny, it's taco time!" My favorite tacos have been the chicken and waffles and the quesaBirria (though those can be a bit greasy). The corn tortillas are a bit tough here; the flour ones are better. You can also get bowls, and on Mondays they sell a whole rotisserie chicken package. I love their queso Blanco as well as the thai- inspired queso. There are a few alcohol options (margaritas, sangritas, ranch water) plus fountain drinks. Overall, still wish we would get a Torchy's in the Midwest, but I'll take Velvet Taco for unique flavors and tasty combinations.

Gluten Free Rotisserie Chicken Bowl missing extra corn tortilla.

1st time ordering from VT via Uber Eats Delivery... 1st I don't know why it's so hard for workers to fulfill orders properly? I didn't get the extra corn tortilla I paid .65 extra for with my GF Rotisserie Chicken Bowl and I didn't get tater tots with my kids chicken Taco sub corn tortilla for flour that came with my kids meal. It's maddening to choose a restaurant pick out what items you want then something else arrives. My kids chicken taco made with 2 chicken tenders was small but flavorful as well as a bit of spice from Queso Blanco. I was looking so forward to VT tater tots :-( My gluten free bowl was very good black beans have a "kick" guacamole was great buttered rice was extremely delicious you get a Huge portion enough for another meal. I used part of my kids meal corn tortilla to make my own Gluten Free taco. If I go back? I will go to the Velvet Taco restaurant where I can get my missing food items resolved right away not have to go through Uber Eats for resolution.

The food even for a vegetarian taco lover which I usually don't find very many options is amazing! They have the beer battered cauliflower and the paneer taco! I love the beer battered cauliflower and the days they make it well- it's saucy, delicious, tangy with the crunch! There have been instances where the taco is dry due to lack of sauces. Service is usually quick and ambiance is just a basic fast food place - not a date night vibe!

All three veggie tacos! Queso and elote!

Big fan!!! I was so excited to try this place. We had never been before. I was even more thrilled to see there was a vegetarian menu and my favorite taco was the fried paneer cheese taco. I definitely could not handle the heat on the Nashville hot tofu, but it was still flavorful. The beer battered cauliflower was really good as well! I appreciated it being able to download the app and order right there helped me skip the line and got me a free queso. The Elote was bomb and had a lot of flavor! I will definitely be back and can't wait to enjoy these yummy tacos again. The restaurant itself had a cool vibe and was definitely fun and hip.

Came here with a friend for lunch. It was packed when we arrived around 2pm. We were lucky to find seats. They have many GF options I could choose from. We tried their trio of dips which had guacamole, queso and elotes. It was delicious. I ordered a veggie bowl with corn tortillas. I asked them to switch gloves and they noted the allergy on all my items. It was a lot of food so I was able to bring it home.

Place was packed for Saturday lunch. We came at 2pm and was lucky to get seats, while we waited for our food. Lots of Gluten free options and they are nice to make it safe for my celiac friend. Shared the Chips and Dips trio; queso blanco, quac, and elote. All very delicious and can't choose which was my favorite. The elote had lots of corn and cheese. Guacamole was fresh and a little chunky, which is how I like it. The Queso blanco has a little kick to it, but after a few more chips you can't tell. Also had the rotisserie chicken bowl. Packed full of ingredients. I added more quac from the trio dips. The chicken was cooked well but no special flavor that makes it stand out. There was a worker that walked by and asked if we want more chips for our dips. Yes please. There was so much food. We couldn't finish them, so went to the front counter to ask for the To go lids for the bowls and dips. They also gave me a box for the leftover chips and plastic bag to carry my leftovers in. Will have to definitely come back to try their tacos and enjoy the outdoor seating in warmer weather.

I tried 3 different tacos. The chicken & waffles taco was okay except for the fact that the waffle shell was super soggy due to the fillings soaking it up. The Korean fried rice taco and the paneer tacos were unusual but tasty. I wouldn't return if it wasn't for the awesome queso and chips. The chips were very flavorful and fresh. The queso was the best queso I've ever had.

was originally very excited to try velvet taco when i heard they were coming out to naperville. i work in food service and have for over 10 years, so I know the kind of work that goes into it. I also dont normally write reviews. i ordered the combo that came with two tacos (the quesabirria and the smash burger) and a side (elote) with a beverage. For starters I received no beverage so that was a bit disappointing. I wasnt going to complain about that, it was just sad. I was the most excited about the quesabirria ones as i love those so much. My first bite literally had a piece of sticker paper???? in it? i had to fully pull it out of my mouth. that was when i decided to write a review. the taco was also super bland on top of that. Which is something i wasn't going to complain about either but the sticker inside my taco was ridiculous in my opinion. I also ordered this as take out. I had to eat the elote with the chips because i wasnt given a fork or any napkins. the elote was pretty mid. The only saving grace was the spicy tikka chicken taco i ordered extra. Very good spice, the rice was cooked well, an overall 8/10 taco. I was just so nervous about biting into another foreign object that I couldnt finish it. overall, I wish we went anywhere else instead of spending $27 on food that was mediocre and contaminated, and an incomplete order. super disappointing.

    Chicken and waffles taco

This place sports an amazing array of taco options. It's fusion that fuses whatever palate you have in taco form! If you like a sweet and salty kick, the chicken and waffles is an interesting option, though the taco shell is a little flimsy but interesting in waffle form. The quesabarria is tasty and comes in a set of two that comes with a side of the soup you can use to dip. The steak taco meat was decently soft, which is hard to do, so I would recommend trying. All in all, lots of variety, try them all and decide what you like!

The food was not great. The steak tacos were tough. The chicken tacos were gross. The chicken bowl was soggy. The red velvet cake was dry. The inside looked ok. Nothing to speak about. The service was fine. The price was too high for what you get. Do I don't think we will be back.

Quiubo has fantastic margaritas (some of the best I've ever had) and cocktails. No artificial flavors or syrups are used so they're fresh and delicious every single time. They don't use margarita glasses, which I prefer, since places that do use them typically have bad and overly citrusy/sweet margs. Their bartending staff is limited since the bar space is a little small so drinks can take a while but it doesn't bother me since the drinks are amazing and worth the wait in my opinion. The food is pricey and the portions small, but this is a fancier/gourmet Mexican restaurant. You're paying for the quality ingredients. Aside from the price, the food itself is really good. Even though this place has "fancier" Mexican food, all of it is authentic and delicious. But, like I mentioned earlier, if you want no frills Mexican food, this is not the place for you. I come here at least once a month and am never disappointed! Honestly, this place makes my blood boil and it's been a few days since my experience. First off, I downloaded their app to my iPhone and no matter how many times I tried to use the free burrito introductory offer, it wouldn't let me. It kept saying "not available on this device". Not only that, but if you exit the menu/ordering screen (which I did to check for the free burrito since I couldn't figure out at first where it was supposed to appear) it deletes everything from your "cart" and you have to rebuild your order from scratch. I decided to order inside instead. Upon entering I thought it looked nice and inviting. I like how they have a bar area to grab condiments, such as different hot sauces, which have lids for to go orders. That's where the compliments end... I figured I could show my rewards barcode to the cashier since the app indicated the free burrito was in there, but she told me it could only be used in the app. When I explained the issue I was having in the app, she just shrugged and said she's not that familiar with that. So my husband, who has an Android phone, downloaded the app and had no issues getting the free burrito offer. I guess the app doesn't like iPhone users? I don't know, but it certainly felt that way. I mention the above because I should have heeded the universe's warning not to bother with this place. My husband got the beef brisket burrito. Not only were there only 2-3 pieces of fatty, flavorless, chewy meat inside, the size of the meat was too big for a burrito. Imagine biting into a burrito and pulling out a large chunk of meat with your teeth. Not only that, but the pickled jalapeno he requested was only at the tail end of the burrito. It's a real pet peeve of mine is when the fillings of a burrito aren't distributed evenly throughout. The point of a burrito is to get a taste of everything in a single bite, not to have a different flavor experience as you work your way through it. Shame on this place for prioritizing speed over accuracy and haphazardly putting together a burrito, that if the shoe was on the other foot, they wouldn't want to eat themselves. As for the chicken burrito bowl, see my photo - it is NOT the mini size, which I almost ordered. I was able to eat the entire thing in one sitting. That was never the case when I used to get Chipotle. Much like my husband's burrito, there were only a few pieces of chicken and none of them were bite-sized. Why wouldn't they make the chicken pieces smaller? Not only does it make the bowl easier to eat, but it appears you're giving people more food that way. There was hardly any Pico de gallo in the bowl, and even though it claimed to come with tomatillo sauce, it didn't seem to have any in it. The lettuce was just a few large chunks that tasted like dirt. I cannot reiterate enough that the way they construct burritos and burrito bowls here is incredibly STUPID. Has no one who works here ever eaten one??? And why are the portion sizes so small? The chips and guacamole were ok. I personally don't care for tomato in my guacamole, so I've had better. The chips were just ok, and once again, the portion size was small compared to other restaurants. Honestly, I don't get the hype. My husband and I promptly deleted their app from our phones and will never eat at a Guzman y Gomez again.
