1st time & we stopped in to check out their empanadas. Not only did we get 4 different empanadas; shrimp & cream cheese, shredded beef, ground beef & rice and ham & cheese (all good, but the ground beef and rice was my favorite), but we also got an order of maduros (outstanding) and a tres leches for desert and it was one of the best tres leches I've ever had. Parking is pretty tight (its in a strip mall with a mexican food restaurant) and you order at that counter and they bring it out to you. Pretty quaint little place but the food was pretty good. DEFINITELY stop in for the tres leches - its that good!

7/28/26 First visit…read more Parking 5/5 Arrived at ~ 12:30 and parking was available in the Postage Stamp size lot. Glad I arrived when I did because several groups came in after seating myself. It looks like street parking and adjacent businesses have spaces which might be available otherwise. Atmosphere 3/5 Although I enjoyed the artwork, this is essentially a small fast food like restaurant. Very small dining room with awful acoustics. Guests of more than two bring the conversation level fairly high and the group of five who arrived behind me had the place uncomfortably loud. It reminded me of my ASU Chuck Box days. Service 4/5 Being my first visit I wish there could have been more time to have the Menu selections explained. I defaulted to my order takers recommendations. As it turned out those suggestions were nice. Food 5/5 I choose the Arroz Con Pollo Jalapeño & Ham popper Empanada Sopa Verde The Aaroz Con Pollo was unique, fresh and delicious. Interesting creation with exciting flavors. I would order this again. Great portion. The Jalapeños & Ham popper Empanada was on the small side when compared to Mexican bakeries I purchased them at. That said the selections here are many and unique! Mine was outstanding. The Jalapeño popper and ham in their perfectly cooked pastry complimented each other so well, I was not disappointed with this recommendation and would order this again! Sopa Verde was a great portion. It included premium garden vegetables including spinach, rice, alvacado, peas, fresh white chicken meat and a salsa verde that added another flavor. This was a wonderful palette treat and another item I would order again. For me Food is this restaurants strong point. Atmosphere driven by acoustics not as much. Looking for something unique, try República Empanada my friends-SYOY!

Delicious empanadas! Plantains were so good, but wish they had more than 2 lol. Blk…read morebeans....omg....seasoned to perfection! I ain't ever had blk beans that taste this good before. Love not having to add salt to my food. For the empanadas, I got the pernil filled with seasoned pork and the mushroom chicken filled with sauteed mushrooms, Kalamata olives and chicken. Very filling. It was the empanada platter and 2 were more than enough.

Every bite felt like a trip back home. What makes it even more special is the atmosphere. The Puerto Rican flags, the music playing softly in the background, and the warm hospitality create a beautiful celebration of our culture without feeling overdone. It's the kind of place that reminds you where you come from and makes you feel connected to your roots. If you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican food in Phoenix, this is it. Whether you're Puerto Rican yourself or trying the cuisine for the first time, this restaurant delivers an experience that is heartfelt, genuine, and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back.

So we were so excited to find Coquí. We enjoyed the empanadas (perfectly crispy with mushroom being our absolute favorite), shrimp with arroz con gandules (a garlic lovers delight and some of the best rice we've had), and a jobarito sandwich (which they were willing to make with chicken instead of pork). Everything was made fresh to order and full of authentic Boricua flavor. It was a hot day and the waitress brought us all free bottles of water. Little did I know that this business is also gay-owned. So happy to support such a business and enjoy delicious cuisine.

Having never had Salvadoran food, this place piqued my interest and I'm glad I had a chance to try…read morea good variety. I ordered the grilled tilapia fillet that comes with rice and beans, some lettuce/tomato (not shown) and pico de gallo. I also ordered a steak pupusa (left). I definitely liked the large piece of fish which was seasoned well, and really enjoyed the rice (wish it came with a little more rice!). I will say I'm not a *huge* fan of pupusas themselves.. They're a little thick for my taste. But the generous cheese and steak inside was good. If you like pupusas, I'm sure you will like there's. I do think that the tilapia meal would be better served with some kind of sour cream. I was glad I had some on hand at home. So maybe order some extra if you go. The service here was very nice. The woman up front was in a wonderful mood and was very helpful when I didn't know what to order. The ambiance of the place is very casual. This is for the most part a "grab and go" type location from what I could tell, but there is seating available.

We didn't plan or book anything so we just decided on the type of food we wanted and googled. We originally chose somewhere else but could not get a reservation. Then we ran into Toro on google. The Lomo Saltado was the eye catcher here and what made us want to come here. We arrived roughly 40 mins ahead of time (didn't know traffics would be light). That was no problem. They sat us immediately. It was a nice day so we sat outside. It was a beautiful view of the golf course with the burning Toro sign adding a fun touch. Our waitress was a sweet young woman who was very knowledgeable of the menu. She answered every question as if she was cooking it all herself. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to start out. Once the bottle arrived we ordered our starters. We shared the Lomo Saltado and Empanadas. The empanadas were delicious, and the herb sauce on the side elevated the flavors. The Lomo Saltado was delicious on a bed of rice. My only disappointment is that traditional Lomo Saltado comes with Fries and lots of veggies. This was great, but I was hoping for those fries and veggies. I ordered the Red Snapper Fillets with Coconut Rice as my main course and my wife ordered the Lobster Fried Rice. We felt these would pair great with the white wine we were already enjoying. As stated in the picture, prawns were included with my dish but I had them put them on the side and my wife enjoyed them. The lobster came on the shell lying on top of the fried rice. My wife felt like that was a nice touch. She chopped up the prawns and mixed that in also. She loved it a lot. Even our waitress thought it was a nice add. My red snapper fillets came a top a bed of snap peas that were sliced up and in a pool of a coconut based sauce. This dish was amazing. I cannot rave enough about the snap peas in this dish. They brought the enter thing to life. The coconut rice was also amazing and cooked to perfection. I do feel like it could have benefited from having a bit of crispy rice mixed into it. I forget the name of the free dessert the waitress brought us, but it was amazing. It was billed as more of a soufflé but I found it to be more like a lava cake on a cookie shell. They served with a a slightly lemony ice cream. You wouldn't think that would work with chocolate but it totally did. After our meal I wanted to stay a bit to drink a bottle of water and let some of that alcohol settle out of my system since I was driving and don't like to risk the biscuit. So we stopped at the bar. I got my sparkling water and my wife ordered a dirty martini. She said it was the best dirty martini she ever had. This was a sensational place to celebrate our anniversary considering it was an impromptu pick. Kudos to all involved.

Also the complementary cheese bread was good, also the ginger shots. We got the churrasco, it had alittle bit of everything. Wish the meat was cooked alittle bit more cause it looked raw. Also wish it was hotter the food. The sausage had no flavor. We got Brussel sprouts and the mac and cheese were good. Also got a complementary dessert , chose the brownie and it was to bitter, tasted like dark chocolate. There was a fire dancer too. The server was nice.
