My friend has been eating here for years and decided to bring me. It is a small restaurant in a shopping complex but they manage to make it feel very authentic with decor and music. We sat and ordered at the table and the staff member was very friendly and kind. She explained different items for us newbies. We got papusas, beans, and fried plantains. It was all made fresh, hot off the griddle. And it was all very delicious. I got one steak and one chicken papusa and they were both great. Next time I am going to try one of the many other combos of meat and veggies. They also had platters and lots of other dishes on the menu. I was first introduced to pupusas a few weeks ago at the Fall Festival event at Hance Park. My fiancé got the beef pupusas and I loved them! We took a bunch of stickers that helped us track down the restaurant, Salvadoreño. There are a few locations for convenience. I appreciate the multiple pupusa options, from pork, steak, chicken, shrimp, bacon, pepperoni, and mixed, to vegetarian options: loroco, spinach, bean, squash, garlic, cheese, mushroom, potato, jalapeño, and flor de calabaza and even vegan options! The 3 combo option was $14.95. In order from my favorite to least favorite: 1. asada y queso, 2. revuelta (chicharrón, queso, y frijoles), and 3. Chorizo. My biggest complaint is that I'd like to have more meat in my pupusas! The rice and plantains were tasty. I'm not the biggest fan of Curtido (pickled slaw) , but in general. Parking lot is shared with other business, however there is enough. The restaurant is in the very corner of the plaza. There is only a few tables for indoor seating I was here for lunch and it was not as busy. The play music in the background and they have small TV showing pictures of El Salvador. The decor and paintings are cool. I didn't like that to get to the bathroom you have to cross the kitchen but the good thing is that they have bathroom. The prices are much better than food trucks. I got the chicharrón ( pork) pupusa it was good. This place has a faster service than other Salvadoreño Restaurants. The customer is good but less friendly than other Salvadoreño Restaurants. I asked what the square bread at the counter was the girl said it was a " quesadilla" it looked to me more like a cornbread. Quesadilla is queso inside a tortilla hence the name. read more

So I've been in here a couple times but this was my first time buying food personally. I've picked up from doordash, I've brought my uncle before, so I needed to try it myself. I really wanted some fried plantains so I yelped where I could find some and this place is literally across the street from my house so it was a quick adventure. The corn tamales were GIANT. Like the biggest ones I've ever had haha. And the plantains were great. I personally like them a little more fried and darkened, that's probably more Cuban or Caribbean style, but it was yummy to try something new. I ate most of the plantains plain but I tried it with the cream and beans a couple times. SUPER GOOD, I just like the plantain flavor itself. The beans were like a liquid. It was yummy, I ate it all. This place was yummy... came in yesterday and had a delicious meal. Most nearby places were surprisingly closed for Black Friday so we opted for this place despite the not so great reviews and we were very satisfied with the decision. The service was good, they told us we could sit and then came to take our order. I had the carne asada with a side of crema and a side of queso fresco. It was delicious. The meat was over cooked although I ordered it medium done, however it had a great charred flavor and turned out okay. The beans were not what I expected of traditional refried beans, however they had a great flavor, the rice was also not a traditional casamiento flavor, it was runny and wet with a strong taste of green pepper, it was still good! We also ordered 2 pupusas revueltas ( cheese, beans, and chicharron) they were fire the pupusas were big, warm and cheesy, couldn't have been better! Outstanding food! The pupusas were stuffed and cooked to perfection the slaw was 10/10 the best I have ever had. Their plantains were a bit greasy, but great flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant is super cute. Their decor is very brightly colored and fun. Service was quick,friendly and courteous. I've lived in the area for almost 20 years and I'm not sure why I had never tried this place before today. Also, this was my first time eating Salvadorian food. I ordered the 2 pupusas combo, which includes rice and beans. I ordered a pork one and a mixed one (pork, cheese, beans). Honestly, both tasted the same. I really didn't see any meat, so either they messed up my order or the meat is finely chopped. The combo also includes a cabbage mixture and a tomato based sauce. The pupusas where good and freshly made, I enjoyed the rice, the cabbage mixture was also tasty. The beans were not my favorite, they were a bit too salty. If you are ordering for pickup I would suggest ordering ahead of time. I had to wait a bit for my food. I would definitely recommend this place (although, I don't have other Salvadorian restaurants to compare it to since it was my first time). read more

Found this place on yelp. My friend who is originally from Honduras said this place has authentic food from her hometown. So we came here for dinner. It was not busy during peak hours. The menu had a lot of options that looked so good! But our tummy is too small to eat so much food. So we decided to get the Sampler which includes each of everything. Awesome! (Look at the picture!) All that food cost $17! It included 2 pupusas, 1 tamal, fried yuca, fried pork pieces, empanadas, plantain empanada dessert, and plantain chips (tostones). My friend and I shared this and we were full, as well as had leftover. Love the fried yucca. Flavor was well seasoned. Food was cooked just right, no burnt food. I don't think I'll ever get this kind of food in Hawaii...sadly. One thing I am not satisfied here is the service. The workers here are rude and not attentive. When we walked in the workers stared at us. There was no greeting and didn't even seat us. WTH! This man fixing the ceiling lights saw us and seated us. Maybe he works there? But people there are unprofessional. No check up or water refill. Water tasted horrible btw. Blehhh, tasted like it was right from the faucet sink. This was our first visit to this restaurant and our first taste of Salvadorian food. We were blown away by how delicious everything was. We were there for lunch and got one of the last tables. There are only about ten tables. Service was good and our server very cordial. I had the chile relleno which was stuffed with cheese and hamburger. It was one of the largest peppers I have ever had. Delicious! My wife had two empanadas and two tamales that were wrapped in banana leaves and nicely moist. I don't usually like tamales because I find them too dry. These were excellent and my wife was kind enough to give me one. We also ordered a pupusa which was excellent as well. This place was a real find and I intend to make it a frequent dining destination. The only recommendation I would make is to provide a takeout menu. There is not one. The in-house menu is in Spanish with English subtitles and with bright pictures. Hispanic music loudly plays the entire time (which I enjoyed). Highly recommended! It was a real treat! read more

We are big fans of Salvadoreño in our house. This establishment makes authentic Salvadorian food and serves it at such a reasonable cost. Salvadoriño provides great vegetarian and vegan options as well, which is very appreciated. If you go here, you have to try a variety of their Pupusas flavors, some of our favorites included: Cheese, Potato, Cheese & Beans and Steak. As far as sides go, skip the rice and get beans and plantains. If you're craving something sweet, treat yourself to some fresh Horchata or Atol de Piña. I was hangry for some good pupusas, so I did a yelp search for nearby pupusa spots near me and this one came up. It had a nice family owned feel when you walk in and the service was great. I ordered three different vegan pupusas and they were good, but all tasted the same... which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The black beans over power the other ingredients. So after a while, it's like eating it for your health... masking the taste of the veggies. Lol. I'd definitely return and will be sure to bring my own to-go container just in case, cuz I'm not a huge fan of styrofoam. I'm hoping they experiment more with vegan offerings because I definitely want to come and try some new stuff. read more

We had dinner here yesterday and we were the only ones dining in. The inside is nicely decorated with Salvadorian decor and plenty of plants. We ordered the tamarind drink because this is the only place that makes it DELICIOUS. The pupusas are so full of flavor and they are made when ordered. You can definitely hear the ladies in the back making all the handmade tortillas. I usually get the two combo plate which comes with two pupusas with your choice of the filling and two sides. (Rice, black beans, sour cream, and cheese) I love the pork and cheese and the chicken with cheese, ugh yum. The black beans are also very flavorful with some sour cream on top! Yum. Our waitress was friendly and checked up on us a couple of times. They have a variety of plates on the menu and also offer large orders of pupusas. My first pupusa experience was a hit! Had never tried El Salvador food, and wanted to try something new so my boyfriend and I decided to check this place out, and I am glad we did. The restaurant is very tiny, hole in the wall type place. Posters of El Salvador on the walls..making me want to travel there! Our server was nice, did not speak much English, but that was not really a problem. I am not sure if we misunderstood and we were supposed to go up to the front and order, because we would ask her a question about an item, she'd answer, then run off before we could order! The food was yummy! I got the squash and cheese and the bean and cheese pupusa and they were both awesome. The squash and cheese had a bit more cheese than I would have liked, as I do not eat cheese often, but still was appetizing. It also came with beans and rice on the side. I wasn't used to eating liquefied beans, but I did enjoy them. For dessert my boyfriend and I shared the nuegados de yuca con miel. It was a little odd for my taste, but obviously something I have never had before. If I go again I would want to give a different dessert a try. Drove by this hole in the wall with my Puerto Rican friend so I decided to stop & try the food so she could help me with ordering dishes since it's very similar to her cultural foods. This place was amazing!! I had the sampler plate & the only thing on it I didn't care for was the fried Yucca. It wasn't terrible just didn't WoW me like the rest of the plate!! Had been meaning to try this place out for some time. For those who follow me I rate on 3 main categories and do a quick review followed by a more in depth review. For the quick one; the place is not bad. Food was tasty but on the saltier side of the spectrum. Long wait for food that is made to order. They make each dish by order so expect a wait. Food portions were small. Definitely not terrible but I was not impressed. For the in depth review: I rate on 3 categories: Food Service Cleanliness/presentation I ordered the Bistec encebollado (onion steak) I went with a more safe selection that I am familiar with as this was my first experience with Salvadoran food. My first impression wasn't the best. The plate looked very empty. It had two pieces of steak that were cooked well. I am not familiar if this is how it is normally prepared but I was given what looked to me as a swamp. A tiny portion of rice along with the steak and veggies drowning in the steak sauce/stew. I could barely make out how much food was actually on the plate as it was all nearly submerged. The entire meal was a bit too salty for my taste. That is saying something as I generally like my food on the saltier side. This was pushing it. For people with high blood pressure or looking for low sodium, this is not your place. The rice was cooked well and was tasty but had so little of it, I barely enjoyed what I could get that wasn't soaked by the stew. It was accompanied by 2 corn tortillas which I believe are made Salvadoran style as they were very thick. I've never had tortillas like this and they were delicious! Very impressed with how good they were. I dipped them into this black bean sauce that was given and that was my very favorite. The black bean sauce is very savory and unexpectedly pleasant! I would suggest using smaller plates as the large plate made the already small meal look even smaller. The portions were tiny in my opinion. I don't eat a whole lot and was barely filled by the meal. I would suggest serving a larger portion of the rice with the meal as it was very good. For cleanliness the place is what you would expect out of a hole in the wall. It is not dirty but it could do with some detailed cleaning. Swipe test on most surfaces showed the place has not gone through a full cleaning in some time. It is very quaint and cozy. Does not detriment the experience. Very mom and pop looking. Good Latino music playing makes the place comfortable to eat in. For service; very attentive servers made my experience pleasant. Very kind and sweet. Did not check on my meal to ask about it. Not detrimental but a missed opportunity. Overall the place gets a C+ Room for improvement on many areas. Based on the food alone I do not see me coming back anytime soon. I was not impressed. The small food portions are the deal breaker for me. read more

If you are a foodie this is probably not the best bet. Really, really, really, really, greasy and undercooked (pictures are worth a thousand words see for yourself). I ordered the pupusas and they crumbled on me on impact with grease oozing out, so I was like well I'm not going to make a big deal, so I made the server aware and she pretty much said that -that's how they are made which is not true coming from SF and having pupusas of all types and kinds. So I asked for platanos instead because you cannot possibly ruin platanos.... or so I thought, and yet, the platanos were underdone, mushy, and smothered in grease so much to the point that I couldn't eat them at all. You can see from the pictures that I wasn't just a picky eater complaining, the food was just not made right, instead of saying "I'm sorry the food was not to your liking" it was dismissed.. so I did not eat my food and paid over 30.00. :( I didn't make a fuss, I just paid full price for my uneaten food and pretty much said "welp this is the first and definitely my last". Do yourself a favor find another spot. Save your arteries, your heart and your digestive system. Truly disappointing all the way around. Maybe they had on an off day, but then I look at the food and think maybe my platanos were made nasty deliberately since I didn't care for the pupusas, then I get upset because I paid full price for two bites oh well, we live, we learn, we move on..... read more

The chick up front taking orders= rude. She should fix her stank ass face and smile. We came in and had never been there before so while she was taking an order over the phone we just stood there because we weren't sure how they work here. Didn't even acknowledge us so we grabbed menus and sat down. Another couple came in after us and did the same thing they grabbed a menu and sat down. The waitress then went to the couple that came after us and proceeded to take their order, still didn't acknowledge us. We just decided to walk out.
