    Pastor taco

We got here right about noon on a Saturday and it was packed. Nobody was really standing in line but the restaurant was basically filled with customers waiting for their food - we knew we were at the right place. The red chili beef burro really hit the spot - it was packed with flavor and no beans and rice (i think if you do want beans and rice, you could get a plate). The pastor taco was absolutely tasty, probably one of my favorite pastor tacos. I'll definitely be back - I've heard good things about their bean and cheese burrito so I think i have my next order ready!

Given I came here for a special event where online gambling personality Bluff paid for everyone's food I can only give 5 stars! It was a really well run event and Elmer's did a great job moving a really long line by having their box special of 2 beef tacos, bean & cheese burrito, chips, and salsa ready to go and Bluff could just pass it out while greeting people. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu, what we had was solid and nothing tastes better than FREE.99 lol Really tho, I liked the tacos and bean & cheese burrito. Would pay for these items no problem. Glad we could come out, say hello to Bluff, and try a local spot we hadn't been to yet.

Being from California, this place is a total nostalgia trip. If you grew up in Cali in the early '90s, then you know about the taco snack school lunch, their red beef burrito with cheese tastes exactly like the original taco snacks from elementary school. That was my favorite lunch back then, and this burrito hits the spot just right. From the 'strips' to the bean and cheese 'cones,' it's a perfect throwback. I'll definitely be stopping by every time I'm back in Arizona! The Staff is amazing!!! So cool they gave us samples!

This place is awesome! Found this little gem when I lived in chandler may years ago and I still make the trip from the far east valley once a week to get some excellent food! My go to is the taquitos and the green chili beef burrito! They are great. The sauce they have is incredible as well. Stop in and give them a try!

    Mini Burros (beef muchaca)

I am only a visitor to Chandler, but every time I go I have to grab an Elmer's beef muchaca mini burro. It is the perfect mixture of tender meat, crisp lettuce, and cheese. Two mini burros are the perfect amount. Elmer's is usually filled with high schoolers at lunch time, but they are great at keeping everything moving even while busy. I've never sat inside, but their outdoor patio looks like it would be great to drink a beer on during a rare cool day in Chandler.

Great tacos with a busy atmosphere. Depending on the day, they will have specials that make it extra worth it. The one stand out is their bean and cheese. I'm usually not a fan of bean and cheese, but theirs is something else and is soo good. People always tell me thats their favorite thing from here.

I've worked in Chandler now for 25 years and it amazes me that I've never been to Elmer's Tacos before. It is tucked away from the road a bit as it's located just North of Chandler Blvd on the East side of the street- right across from Chandler High School. I went at lunch time on a Tuesday hoping for deals and they did have $1.99 street tacos. The parking lot wasn't too filled but as soon as I stepped inside the restaurant was packed with high school students. I got in the long line but it went quick with two cashiers taking orders. I ordered 2 Al Pastor and 1 spicy chicken street taco and a large drink. The drink was a bad idea as it was mostly ice and boosted my total by almost $4. The best part of the visit was I only had to wait about 4 minutes for my food despite all the people and orders ahead of me. They get the food out fast! It was a little awkward to wait inside as it was cramped and noisy...so I was very appreciative of the speed. The indoor seating was full so I sat outside on a concrete bench under an umbrella (kept the sun off on an unexpectedly hotter February day). The tacos came in a small styrofoam box which had 3 smaller street tacos and a hot sauce cup. Now to the biggest disappointment- the tacos were only so-so and they were only 3 or 4 smaller bites each. The cabbage added a little crunch and white color. The pastor didn't have much flavor, not like some other places where you get a blast of spice and pineapple as soon as you bite in. The spicy chicken didn't taste very much different than the pastor...should be very obvious in a blind taste test which is which but I may have failed if tested. The hot sauce was pretty good and became the main way to add any flavor. I was hoping this would be a good new spot to add into my local Taco Tuesday options but the size and taste of the tacos just doesn't size up with some other places around.

This place never disappoints! I've been trying new things lately, and everything always tastes great.

This spot has been around for quite some time and with good reason! I've visited several times and whether I'm ordering a breakfast burrito or a special which usually contains several items, it's always delicious. By far what sets this spot apart is the salsa. (Make sure to ask for extra) I have no reason to not continue recommending this spot for delicious Mexican food. If you haven't tried it, I definitely recommend!

Was in the area and was craving some Mexican food. I wanted something that was going to be good and economical. I ordered a pastor taco, a bean and cheese burro and a cheeseburger for the little one. It's good when you can walk out full for under $20. Service was great. Staff was very friendly.

The old school Mexican restaurant. Not a chain. A historical piece of Chandlers downtown. Be patient. It's all worth it.

Taco bell is much better. Tacos were very generic not authentic at all. Pre fried taco shells. I'll go to taco bell.

The best bean and cheese burrito in the valley. Elmer's is easily one of the best taco spots in the east valley.

The ambiance was fine -- kind of a casual Mazatlán vibe according to my wife -- though the giant "No Firearms" sign on the front door was the first thing my daughter noticed when we pulled up. Not exactly the warmest welcome. We ordered two Birria Burrito bowls, a kids quesadilla combo, and two bean & cheese burritos (they didn't have a burrito option on the kids combo, so we had to order the regular burritos and then got upsold to make them chimichangas). We also added rice and beans as sides for the kids meal which was extra. No drinks, standard tip, and the total came to $73 for five of us. When the food arrived, it was shocking how small the portions were for the price: * The birria burrito bowls (~$14 each) came in a small aluminum foil to-go container that looked more like a personal pan pizza than a proper burrito bowl. The rice and beans were barely there at the bottom. Tasted good, but it was hardly a meal. * My daughter's kids quesadilla was tiny -- smaller than the free kids quesadillas we used to get at Café Rio. The only other things on her plate were two small styrofoam cups of rice and beans that we paid extra for. Her whole combo was over $10. * The bean and cheese burritos were a decent size and the only thing that felt like a fair portion, but even those were $10 each. The guacamole looked like processed/store-bought. Overall, it was easily the least satisfying Mexican meal I've had in a long time. The food wasn't bad tasting, but the tiny portions combined with the upselling and high prices left all of us still hungry and disappointed. For what we paid, we expected a lot more food on the plates. Won't be rushing back.

The elevated atmosphere struck the perfect balance of upscale and inviting. Party of four--two of us visiting from San Antonio (so yes... we take our Mexican food seriously), and two who were honestly a little hesitant walking in because the menu isn't your typical Tex-Mex lineup. But let me tell you... by the end of the night, everyone was completely sold. We kicked things off with the shrimp aguachile verde, chips, salsa, and fresh guacamole--bright, fresh, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt intentional and elevated. For entrées, we went all in: Sonora taco, green enchiladas, bacanora tacos, and green chili cream enchiladas. Each dish had its own personality and depth--this is not your average Mexican restaurant, and that's EXACTLY what makes it so good. Service absolutely matched the food. Jasmine was incredible--warm, attentive, and genuinely engaged in making sure we had a great experience. Then manager Kevin stopped by personally to check on us, which took things to another level of hospitality. And just when we thought it couldn't get better... dessert. Kevin brought out an off-menu, down-home key lime cheesecake recipe from his mom--paired with fried ice cream--and WOW!! Easily one of the best desserts we've had in a long time. If you're hesitant because it's not "what you're used to," lean into that. This place is authentic, elevated, and absolutely worth it. We'll 100% be back.
