I always forget that this place exists, but the garlic noodles are something I've been craving recently! The noodles are perfectly garlicky and the vegetables and protein are cooked to perfection. Solid place for a quick tasty meal at an affordable price! You can customize your noodle type, sauce, and protein. I always get the hokkien noodle, Malay & Thai sauce, and chicken. The portions are huuuge too!! If one tried, they could probably have it for two meals! I recently tried the wheat noodle and that one was really good too. Quick, delicious spot to eat at in Berkeley I ordered Hokkien noodles w Japanese sauce and beef. Would recommend ordering light sauce because the noodles/veggies/meat get drenched w sauce at the bottom. Ordered pickup on a Monday night 7PM, but the restaurant was pretty quiet and empty when we went there, so I wouldn't have minded eating there (wait was only 10 minutes from ordering) Want to come back and try out the curry/soup options! I've had their garlic noodles from Uber Eats during the pandemic and it was amazing so I so decided to give it another try! There are a bunch of noodle options and four flavoring options: Japanese, Malay, Chinese and Thai. I got the Hoikken noodles with "Japanese" flavoring and my friend got the Fried rice with Japanese flavoring. As a noodle lover, the texture Hoikken noodles have great texture and remind me of udon. Even though the flavoring was Japanese, it basically tastes like Pad See Ew in an udon stir fry form! It gets pretty packed for dinner but the wait for the food isn't long at all. I like restaurants where you can build your own meal because there are so many options. This place not only has noodles, but also rice dishes. They also have a variety of sauces and soups and proteins. I got the Thai style noodles with chicken and it tasted like pad thai. It was pretty good, there was a lot of sauce and the portion size was pretty big. There was also a variety of vegetables which added a nice crunch. The only downside was that the noodles were a bit soggy like they were over cooked. Overall, it was nice; however, if you go to a Thai restaurant, you can get better pad thai, sometimes at a cheaper price. Holy moly how have I not written a review on Toss Noodle?! This is my absolute favorite lunch spot!! If you love noods, this place will quickly become habit forming. It's a build your own noodle dish with options and soup creations with spicy sauce to add in. The layout of the restaurant is super cool with seating on a bleacher- like wall. I have to admit Im a creature of habit, so I keep going for a Hokkien with peanut sauce, but I've been eyeing up other patrons soups and the next time I'm going to try something new. The Hokkien and Malay is too damn good though!! I had the dumplings (or pot stickers maybe?) and those were scrump-diddly-uptious! They were gone in 2.5 seconds. This review is for their pre-Covid operations. I was excited to come here because of all the great reviews. Unfortunately, I was quickly disappointed once I took a bite of their stir fry noodles. The noodles were overcooked and had no bite to them and the sauce was underwhelming. I got the stir fry noodle with thai sauce which is, by the way, described only as "spicy" on the menu and was not spicy at all. There were some condiments available that may have helped but I shouldn't have to add condiments to a dish that's supposed to be spicy to make it spicy. Honestly I'd be more satisfied making instant ramen myself. That way my noodles wouldn't be a mushy mess and I could ensure my food was actually spicy and flavorful. Maybe I'd return to try the non-stir fry noodles but I definitely won't be getting that again. The food is always good :)) after coming here over 5-6 times in the past couple years, I think my go-to order is the Hokkein noodles, with half Malay half Thai sauce, and chicken or tofu. It's for less than $15 and the flavors hit really well. I'd definitely recommend! The seating is also quite aesthetic and they give out black bowls with orange chopsticks which make the noodles really pop. I've also tried their Thai tea before and definitely recommend!! I ordered online for pickup and had my friend grab it for me while I was in the car in a meeting, they refused to give him the food without ID and credit card although he stated he was picking up an order and mentioned my name and details of the order. I've only had delivery so far not dine in. The Hokkien noodles are all I've tried once with Chinese/pork and then the other Japanese/prawns. Noodles and sauce are very good on both ocasiones but the vegetables were mostly raw and I like them more cooked. Not sure if this is just how it is or if they should be cooked more. If I order again (which I probably will because flavor is really good) I'll ask for them well cooked. I've also ordered the Thai tea for delivery and the Caprisun like pouch is odd and unfortunately not spill proof. It spilled once in the bag and a bit on my food and soaked the straw as well. My friend decided to order White Rice with Green Curry and Chicken. I got the Chef Special Toss Garlic Noodle and Kabocha Croquette. The croquette was interesting, with a squash filling fried and topped with (tonkatsu?) sauce. It has a nice crunch to the outer skin and the sauce was a good addition. My friend's chicken green curry was pretty spicy to her, but seemed mild to me. The Toss Garlic Noodle I had was quite delicious and on point. The noodle had a nice chewy texture with a hint (not too much) garlic taste. The dish also had vegetables and protein (beef) with (not sure what) sauce. The beef was not bad, wish they gave a bit more, but it was still a well done dish. Their standard is design your own dish, so I'll have to return and try that sometime. The Miscellaneous The noodle house is along the main road, a bit tucked to the back, with limited parking in front. The inside doesn't seem super spacious, but it has good depth and good amount of seating. They also have some interesting and simple art decor for their interior. The restaurant is set up in a way for self service, where you bus your own dishes. Condiments and water are ready accessible near order counter, along with dish return. The wait time for us wasn't too long since we order right when they open. So your mileage may vary during peak hours. Their menu focus on designing your own dish with Chef Specials and appetizers. They have a drink menu right outside their down and you'll probably walk right by it. But They have a good selection of drinks and Yuzu Beer (need to try)?
