Love the food and service here. Highly recommend the birria tacos and tacos gobernador. Either the beef or goat birria is delicious but I prefer the goat. Always tender and juicy. The birria tacos are crispy on the outside. If you get deliveryor take-out, they lose their crispiness as they will get steamed and soften up in the car (it's still delicious though), so it's ideal to eat them at the restaurant right away. I enjoy it with the hot consomé. The tacos gobernador have lots of flavorful shrimp and come with grilled onions and peppers. Just 2 of these extra large tacos are filling. I also love the carnitas tortas. Menudo is available on Saturday and Sunday. It's pricey but is a very big bowl. Lots of tripe. read more

Honestly I was really hungry that time, late lunch time and it's just about right to decide to dine in here! The portion of the food is awesome and though it took quite a time, it's worthy! Yay for yummy Tortas! Located off of Chapman east of the 57 fwy, Torta and Bionicos is very easy to spot with their bright signage. This restaurant serves... well you guessed it, tortas and bionicos! I have been a few times and have only tried out the tortas, but from what i saw while waiting, i am excited to bring my minions back here to try out the bionicos and other desserts! Staff was very pleasant, and answered my questions, so we got: Mexicana Torta- 10 stars- the highlight of the visit for sure-- the torta consisted of carne asada with chorizo ( asada was dominant meat wise), beans, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. The sandwich had mayo, but it's prepared differently-- the mayo is spread on the bread and then it looks like they then placed the bread against the grill, crisping the inside of the bread ( if that makes sense)-- I love how it tasted! With that crunch, a good balance of the meat, i could taste each meat and the beans with each bite-- folks, that is BALANCE. Portion sizes were perfect and with a cost of $7.99 you cant do much better in terms of a lunch that will fill you up. One thing that is worth mentioning is that this sandwich WILL give you the 'itis'! Meaning every time i ate the sandwich i really wanted to take a nap-- be aware if you are getting a torta then have a long drive... etc. Michocana Torta- 3 stars- Another solid torta, this time with carnitas as the main meat. The sandwich also came with jalapenos (there weren't that spicy thankfully) and the other fixings. After eating the Mexicana, this sandwich was a slight let down in comparison, but still delicious. The carnitas seemed a little under seasoned ( my co worker agreed when she sampled) and since there wasn't a second meat, the portion seemed a little smaller. I would still get this again as after adding some salsa, it was good to go. As a yelper, this place excites me because they have food that I haven't tried before, i am looking forward to heading back to try some bionicos and the fish tacos very soon! I LOVE REFRIED BEANS!!! And this place has THE best refried beans I've ever had anywhere, with the exception of my BFF's mom's homemade ones. You just KNOW anything this delicious is made with LARD. They are so smooth, creamy and delicious!!! Totally legit. And try the esquite--the corn cup with cotija cheese and mayo. I can eat a whole pint by myself. Even the rice is amazing!! And I don't generally like Mexican rice, but here, it's excellent. I'm going to get all of this with an order of birria tacos next time--I KNOW they'll be just as awesome!! Decided to try this place for lunch on a Sunday, and it was not too busy. My husband and I got tortas, and the portions are HUGE! I really liked my steak (asada) torta. The bread was delicious and soft. They have a lot of all-natural drinks. I got the pineapple, and it was so good. The horchata was great as well. They also have a salsa station, and I really liked that they put out the carrots/jalapenos. The person who took our order was really kind and made me feel welcomed. This us the second time I've come here. The first time was perfect, the food was good and the staff were sweet, and very clean . Update: today was my secod visit and wasnt happy at all. Salsa was gross. No flavor. Asada was dry and taste old. Carnitas was still yummy. Cashier was very rude and got our order wrong, when we asked about it she got upset and was yelling across the counter when we were sitting at the booth. Still clean but kind of makes me feel weird when cooks are coming back and forth dipping their hands in the drinks when I just ordered an horchata. I wont honestly go back from now on. I've had the chicken taco lunch plate, coctel de camaron (a lil pricey, but worth it), shrimp & chicken fajitas, tostada de ceviche de camaron, taco gobernador. All their tacos have a double corn tortilla (normal size) and they are not stingy with the meat! They have a lunch special from 10-3pm where you can get two tacos w/ a side of rice, beans, small salad & an agua fresca for only $7.99!! 5 stars for the food, customer service, music & best of all, their green jalapeño salsa that is fire. I don't normally review places, but I did a DoorDash order of the 3 birria beef tacos with consome ($11.49) and an order of the tostadas de ceviche de camaron ($9.99) This was my first time having birria tacos with consome and it was everything I hoped it would be. Tender, hot (temperature), large, double-tortilla tacos. Perfection. The ceviche came in a large styrofoam container with avocado and orange slices and two large tostada shells. I ate one taco and one tostada and was pleasantly full. I have plenty of delicious food for tomorrow! At around $25, it was a splurge but it's really a ton of food! read more

They have some legit Birria de Chivo. The birria is tender, and the goat has been well stewed, as it is not "gamey" . The 3 birria tacos y consomme is about $11 and the tacos are very large. These aren't the $1 taco sizes, they're like a full on size of a type tacos. The level of authenticity reminds me of the times I've had it in Mexico and also the spicy salsa (chili oil) is pretty hot. If I thought it was spicy enough to tingle my lips, you should beware! NOT COVID SAFE! The chefs don't wear their masks, they prepare their verde sauce out in the open, and don't require customers to wear masks. This is a smaller space, this shouldn't be allowed. While preparing their sauce, one of the employees used their fingers to clean off a droplet and put it back into the sauce. No gloves. They literally have all of your Mexican cravings from tacos and tortas to Bionicos and raspados. The options seem to be endless. I would definitely make the drive from brea to place entra again. The food was "nice" and very flavorful. However, service was lacking. I ordered for delivery and the consume was not packaged properly causing it to spill during delivery. When you order birria y consume, consume is the most important part. Also ordered a burrito and 90% of it was rice. The rice was good but not what you want when you order a burrito. Best tacos I have had in a very long time - love them so much I have had them twice in three days! Friday night my friend brought over fish tacos, the gobernador shrimp tacos, and an asada torta. The tacos were seriously amazing! The fish tacos are soft corn tortillas, loads of perfectly seasoned fish, cabbage, and delicious sauce. The gobernador tacos are hard shell with so much tender shrimp, tons of melted cheese, onions and spicy jalapeños. The asada torta was also very good, nice roll with tasty, high quality meat, lots of lettuce and mayo. I did think the tacos were definitely the highlight of the meal though, and I think I will stick to them over the tortas. Today my husband went and picked up more food for lunch. The fish and governador tacos were a must, we also got carne asada tacos, and watermelon agua fresca. He was blown away by how great the tacos were and said we will be coming here from now on when we want tacos. The agua fresca was very good, can't wait to try more flavors! Super glad I saw this place on Yelp and decided to try it. Prices are very reasonable and the food is outstanding. Definitely one of my new favorites! read more

The Biónico was good until I got to the cantaloupe omg it taste spoiled. The kiwi was sour so it was not pleasant. Sucks I paid so much for three items and it was not worth it. On tuesdays they have a taco special for $1.25 so I ordered a Chicken/Carne Asada taco and my bf ordered the Cubano Sandwhich. They offer a small salsa bar that offers different levels of hot sauce, jalapeños, and limes. The location is kept pretty clean and spacious.
