I noticed Torres open up right down the street from me a little while ago, and finally decided to go for a hair trim. The salon has a lot of open space, with 6 stations for cuts. Very modern and welcoming. When I came in, I was greeted by the stylists working on hair. There was nobody at the front desk, so I had to wait a couple of minutes to let them know who I was and when my appointment was scheduled for (I did arrive a few minutes early). Everyone was chatting and clients seemed relaxed. Maribel was my stylist, and was super easy to talk to. I showed her some reference pictures and explained my situation, and she made sure we were on the same page before getting started. The hair wash was glorious, and Maribel had my hair washed, cut, dried and styled in under an hour! I highly recommend Torres! read more

Only taking one star off because I was quoted $50 for a haircut on the phone when I called (and repeated the price back to confirm). Made the appointment for that same day and was charged $75 for the haircut after she was done. BUT my natural curls have never been this manageable. She thinned it out heavily exactly as I asked and it really helped! Overall I really like the cut so I'll very likely be back! read more

Amazing! Maribel was great. It's so silly but I was so nervous to get a haircut. I have been trying to grow my hair out for a few years, but my split ends have been hindering any visible progress... Maribel was easy to talk to, the vibe was super chill, and the haircut is awesome. I am one of those once a year haircut. I usually get upset the day after a haircut about how much of my hair had been cut off... that is not the case at Torres! I stopped by Torres Hair Design with my hair in possibly the worst shape of my life. I hadn't gotten a haircut in months due to COVID and overall neglected to take care of it. Pre-COVID, I was dyeing my hair often so of course it's over processed. I left with a fresh haircut and so much weight off! Im a long time client of Torres Salon, past 16 years, and recently changed over to Maribel due to Karina leaving and wanting some new highlight looks. Today, I was charged $20 for a missed appt that I called and cancelled early that morning! After 16 years of loyalty, and being told by Maribel it's their new system and they have to charge for cancellations, someone else could have taken that spot- and I proceeded to say the person i booked for shampoo blowdry - WAS WIDE OPEN, no appts the next morning. i was treated like a complete stranger, not a loyalty customer and she refused to refund my $20 small fee! It's the principal- not the money. i would even bring all of them Starbucks ! And she didn't bend. her $20 was more important than keeping a customer. I have been coming here for a year. Karina does my haircut and highlights. I love her, and this place!! My hair color always looks so beach-y blonde and amazing. The prices are very affordable compared to a lot of Austin salons: my hair is to about my collarbone length and it is usually $105 for a partial highlight. My 10year old got the worse Haircut ever! My 1st and last time to come here. Nice clean facility and not much sign of business. 2 hair dressers and 1 customer on a Friday at 4pm. I should of known that was a bad sign. Took my son for a scissor cut and Lady was very rough with my 10 year old. Till this day (a month later) he keeps saying she was mean and kept pushing his head up and down instead of telling him to move a certain direction or give him notice. He's been getting hair cuts since age 1 and never complained before. He says she was very rough and mean. He begged me never to take him back there. She butchered his hair and after asking her to fix certain spots that she should of noticed were not cut right since that's her profession not mine his hair was just not right so I told her to leave it alone and left. read more

Hands down the best hair salon in South Austin! Maribel was absolute hero as she rescued my hair from a horrific bleach job at another salon. Maribel was beyond professional, very understanding of my situation and made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I had a great hair cut from Lorie but I am a bit disappointed that I was ignored while I was in the salon. No usual chit chat from the stylist, however the other employees were on their phones and speaking in Spanish to each other. I cannot speak Spanish, and felt that awkward feeling that they could be talking about me. Like the usual Asian nail salons. Their location does not stand out in the shopping center but I was very impressed with their waiting area, comfy chairs and Keurig coffee offered. The Yelp profile incorrectly states they are closed on Saturday. So glad I saw the OPEN sign lit up when driving by on the way to laundromat that is in the same shopping center. I walked in without an appointment and they were very accommodating. They squeezed in my haircut in between appointments. So happy they are experienced with curly hair cuts and added the right amount of layering which gave my hair the bounce and body I wanted. I woke up in the morning and finally decided to cut my hair and I looked through yelp to find a good hair salon. I messaged a couple places but they weren't open until 10-11AM so I saw that with Torres Hair Design I can schedule an appointment on their website and so within 30mins to an hour I got an email from Karina letting me know Maribel can see me as early as 11AM and she, Karina, was able to attend my mom. As we got there they had nice comfy seats and we got there 10 minutes early and they were able to attend us right away. My mom has never loved her hair cut as she did after coming here and my hair hasn't looked as good or soft as it is now!! Completely recommend this salon. read more
