Stopped in for a quick bite and ordered the hummus as an appetizer which was good but could have used a touch more garlic, salt and lemon. But it was very creamy. For dinner I had the chicken kebab with yogurt and that was yummy. I especially liked the charred green pepper on the side. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the spices all blended well together. The interior is very nicely decorated and the service was great. Need to go back to try some other dishes.

3 for 3 on the businesses I visited during my short day trip to Montclair. Toros was the site of our lunch before catching a ballet nearby, and with so many great restaurant options in the area, we were a bit stumped on where to go. After I compiled a list of the best sounding spots, my friends helped us settle on Toros, because we wanted a fresh, mediterranean meal. The flavors were on point and they were not shy about portions. We ordered stuffed cabbage, chicken skewers, and hummus, and they brought out a huge plate of house salad and buttery rice with slivered carrots. The chicken was charred and cooked to perfection and the stuffed cabbage had me wondering why I ever doubted this dish. Our food came out promptly and our server was super nice. The space is very clean, a little rustic, and so cozy for lunch or dinner. I'm so glad we landed here!

DELICIOUS Toros Shepherd Salad

I recently visited Toros with some Turkish friends and family (it's always a good sign when Turkish folks recommend a Turkish place, right?). I'm truly grateful we found it! The ambience is warm and ornate--truly out of a story book! The food was absolutely incredible all around. Let's start with the bread, which blew me away. We had to take some to go--it was that good! They make it fresh in another one of their locations and you can certainly tell it's their own. Great flavor, fluffiness, and crust. Next up, we ordered the hummus which was creamy and delicious (especially with the bread!). After that, we got the shepherd's salad which was refreshing, well-seasoned, and was gone by the end of the meal! I tried the moussaka as my entree which had a rich flavor and came with the most fantastic rice and bulgar. My brother tried the kebab entree and WOW. The seasoning on the meat left me speechless. My mother's vegetarian dish and friend's fish dish were pretty good, albeit not as "wow-ing" as the other food. If you come here, I highly recommend trying out the kebab--you'll thank me!! The service was attentive, albeit a bit cold and curt in demeanor... I see other reviewers had a similar experience. However, I have to give props to our server who spoke Turkish with our family friends, who are from Turkey originally--I could tell it meant a lot to them. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and amazing food and will be back!

Seated in patio with menus, bread, and bottle of water

Last evening, I took my partner out to dinner here for a special occasion. We've been fans of the original Paterson location for years, and have also enjoyed times at Clifton, but this was our first time dining at the Upper Montclair location. With it being a Friday night, I called the restaurant earlier that day to place a reservation (just in case it was busy and there may be a wait for a table - I wasn't sure). Later that day, when we walked inside Toros, a woman greeted us and lead us through the restaurant to the patio where she gave us an option of two two-person tables. After were were seated, we were given menus and bread/butter and a bottle of water were placed on our table. When you think of Turkish cuisine, you think of the meats - doner, kebabs, etc. However, it's possible to enjoy a delicious meal as a vegetarian...My partner is vegetarian. Note - Technically, there is only one vegetarian entrée on the menu here, but there's a whole selection of delicious hot and cold appetizers that are vegetarian friendly. For example, below what is what we ordered (minus, my Adana Kebab entrée - my favorite) VEGETARIAN-FRIENDLY DINNER ORDER - Coban Salata - they'll ask if you want the feta cheese on it or not - Patlican Soslu - one of our favorites. so good with bread... tomato-based, an alternative to the other eggplant based apps that have a smoked/smokey flavoring (partner is not into smokey flavor profile) - Sigara Boregi - my partner's favorite app of the night - cheese-filled crispy filo with the little salad on the side - Mucver - pan-fried zucchini fritter - fresh, light, refreshing with the yogurt and dill - Sebzeli Guvec (vegetable dish) - under traditional Turkish cuisine on menu Other vegetarian-friendly appetizer options of note are hummus and falafel, but we have these regularly, so we passed last night. For dessert, baklava and almond pudding are nice, too. We hope to come back again with friends. Toros is highly recommended! Especially if you can get a patio table when the weather is nice this summer.

Lebni- excellent! Thick and flavorful!

Service was standard. The inside decor is nice. There is a good amount of outside seating in a little courtyard in the back. The food was very good: -lebni: lightly flavored and absolutely delicious with their warm, fresh bread - toros combination platter: good variety of meats and adequate amount of food for the price. Meats were nicely grilled and well-flavored. Would recommend.

Ordered: Coban Salata - Sheperd's Salad (~$15): chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, tender long green peppers, red onion & parsley tossed with extra virgin olive oil & vinegar Arnavut Cigeri - Fried Veal Liver (~$17): tender fried veal liver breaded & pan-fried, then blended with seasoning & herbs Small Mixed Appetizer Platter (~$26): 6 choices: stuffed eggplant, babagannush, hummus, lebni, stuffed grape leaves, tabbouleh Toros Karisik - Toros Combination Plate (~$36): 1 izgara kofte served with a half portion of adana, chicken, shish & doner kebab Baklava (complimentary) Kazandibi (complimentary): baked and caramelized light milk pudding Diet Coke (~$3) Aya's take: We stopped by Toros for dinner after our original dinner spot fell through. Being Middle Eastern, I'm a big fan of Turkish food as it is fairly healthy, filling, and full of flavor. We started off with the Coban Salata, Arnavut Cigeri, and Small Mixed Appetizer Platter. The Coban Salata is a must. It was simple, crunchy, and deliciously fresh. I've never had fried liver the way this Arnavut Cigeri was served. It was breaded which I found a bit unusual, as it's usually only pan-fried with the seasonings & herbs. It was still somewhat addicting, just not what I expected. The Small Mixed Appetizer Platter was great for sharing among the 4 of us. The stuffed eggplant stood out to me the most. I'm a sucker for combination platters as it gives me the chance to try a bunch of items at the same time, so the Toros Karisik was perfect. I particularly liked the izgara kofte and adana kebab. Their rice is also unbelievably buttery and soft! I absolutely loved it. As we were finishing up, they gave us some complimentary desserts which is always appreciated. The Baklava and Kazandibi were sweet, delectable, and a great way to close off the meal. If you find yourself craving Turkish cuisine in the Montclair area, look no further than Toros.

First time visiting Toros. Went on a weekend evening for dinner with friends and family. Quick to get a table since we went there early. Restaurant staff did not come across friendly. Ordered few cold appetizers to start with - Hummus, baba ganoush and fresh bread. The bread was fresh, but the spreads were a total let down and lacked any flavor. For entrees, they had only 1 veg dish which I still ordered on the staffs recommendation - Zucchini pancakes - was alright but lacked any salt or spice. Lamb chops dish were 30$ and it was not even a good portion for 1 adult. We got two small chops that were dissatisfying. Extremely disappointed with the overall experience

Some top notch Turkish cuisine

Great little spot! Beautifully decorated with plenty of Mediterranean flair. 3 Course Lunch Menu for $15.99 is quite the good deal. Great, welcoming staff. I've also had dinner here and eaten in the outdoor courtyard. I haven't had anything yet that wasn't good. BYO-Bonus!

Have been to zeugma on twice already, I am surprised I didn't write a review after the first time!…read more Our most recent trip did not disappoint either. The staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had reservations on a sunday and due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation. Despite this, we were seated immediately and our waters were filled as soon as we sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, albeit a little dark in the evening. They do have a wine menu but they are also BYOB. Food: Started off with the grilled zataar pita bread and the hummus, and boy it did not disappoint. The pita was grilled but still so soft in the middle with a beautiful aroma from the spices and it tasted delicious. The hummus was also beautifully done and complemented the pita well, my only negative is i wish the pita was unlimited because it was SO good. Entree: Truffle Goat Cheese Wagyu Burger - Delicious, VERY rich but definitely a must have if you like goat cheese. Thankfully also with caramelized onions which give the burger a good sweetness. Beef Manti: These are so good that my wife and I tried to make them at home afterwards, but did not come out quite as delicious as they are at the restaurant. Definitely a must have. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent dinner, date night, or an evening to spend with friends.

06/11/2026 Always love coming here…read more Came with wife and SIL and once again, Zeugma delivered. Pretty much the same meal as last time, with one exception. We tried the Antakya Hummus (Pine nuts, cucumber pickles, tomatoes, brown chili butter) and will be adding this to our list of favorite appetizers... So very good! The sea bass my wife and SIL were again, beautifully prepared and delicious as always, as were my lamb chops (Kuzu). While the lamb hummus was excellent, the miso calamari was.... not as tasty as I remember it. Different chef, different day... won't keep us from coming back soon.

The olive oil didn't seem to pair super well with it though. Got the Adana kebab and mixed grill to go (sampled all the items at the restaurant while still hot). Chicken shish- fairly tender. Slightly charred. Good flavor Lamb shish- cooked ~ medium with a little pink. Good flavor but could be a bit more tender. I do prefer my meats medium rare so it could just be that. Adana kebab- Tender, good flavor. I think it could've been a bit juicier? Burger- super tender and full of flavor. Best meat by far. Veggies and rice- both very good. I appreciate the attention to the sides. Service - 10/10 Food- 8/10

Beautiful, Fresh, and Worth a Visit…read more I stopped by this cute, beautiful, and very clean restaurant a few nights ago, and I'm really glad I did. My wife tried the branzino, while I decided to go with the dorado. Both fish were fresh, perfectly cooked, and very well flavored. The ambiance is also fantastic--warm, inviting, and a place where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. The portions were generous, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. I definitely want to come back and try some of their other dishes, especially the shish kebabs and lamb kebabs. I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

A truly lovely amalgamation of a welcoming ambiance, great n quick service and absolutely delicious…read morefresh Mediterranean food. Disappointing and Overpriced Group Dining Experience…read more A friend organized a dinner for six at Mishmish, expecting a quality dining experience. Instead, we were told upon arrival that parties of six could not order from the regular menu and would receive a special chef's tasting menu. We were also informed that gratuity was automatically included. The service got off to a poor start. When I requested still water, the server responded, "So, tap for you," later explaining that the tap water was filtered. Two guests received their drinks promptly, while the rest of us waited at least 15 minutes--before the first dish even arrived. The food was served family-style, but the portions and presentation made little sense for a table of six. Most dishes came on only two plates, with one small portion intended for three people to share. We received items such as a small bun with sauce, a modest salad, a piece of smoked trout, and buttered boiled potatoes--the best dish of the meal, although hardly an impressive accomplishment. Most absurdly, two chicken legs were served for three people to share. How exactly were three guests expected to divide two chicken legs? A tasting menu for six should be properly portioned, not presented as a series of awkward, undersized servings. There was also confusion about the menu. When one guest pointed out that two listed items on our special menu had not been served, the server consulted the chef and returned to say that we had received everything we were supposed to receive. If items had been removed from our menu, we should have been told at the beginning of the meal--or the menu should have been corrected. Following this we were provided A dessert consisting of an extremely bitter artichoke-based liqueur and one small scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream for every three guests to share described as "a gesture" based on the menu confusion. The presentation for a table of six was virtually nonexistent. Dishes were simply placed on the table, and we sometimes had to ask what we had been served. The service was mediocre at best, the portions were poorly planned, and the overall experience felt disorganized. At $130 per person--$780 total, including the automatic gratuity--the meal was nowhere near the quality or value expected at that price. Needless to say, I will not return.
