When entering, the shop is straight past the stairs and then the second right turn. Their menu has a variety of coffee and tea drinks, smoothies, protein shakes, hot chocolate, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, ice cream, and more! The inside is beautifully designed and leans into the greenhouse aesthetic; it's whimsical and a true escape. I ended up ordering the Sweet Cardamom Latte along with the Blueberry Rosewater Scone. The scone may have been the best I've had! It was fresh and you could taste the rosewater and blueberries balance each other out. The Sweet Cardamom Latte had subtle flavor but they make their syrups in house as well as source local honey to flavor drinks. My husband got the Chai Tea Latte which had a subtle, sweet flavor. He also tried the ham, smoked gouda, and egg sandwich. They offered a chipotle mayo sauce to go with this which I highly recommend. This was a bit of a splurge but was so worth it!

Like the rest of the American Club, it's a gem. We stopped in a couple of times and had the chance to try a variety of items. Food: They have an excellent assortment of beverages and pastries. Over our two visits, we tried a coffee latte, gourmet hot chocolate, London Fog Tea Latte, and a coffee. The baristas do a very nice job with the hot beverages. You can watch them being made, and it's clear they pay attention to the small details. A great example was the whipped cream on the hot chocolate, piled high in the center of the cup without touching or spilling over the sides. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. On our first visit, we ordered a Blueberry Rosewater scone that looked amazing in the case. It was nicely baked, topped with turbinado sugar, and had plenty of blueberries. The texture, however, was more muffin-like than scone-like. There was also a noticeable baking soda taste, which we both picked up on. I later mentioned this to the manager, who was apologetic. On our second visit, we shared an Espresso Hazelnut Cruffin. This is essentially a croissant baked in a muffin tin and filled with flavored cream. That one was outstanding. The dough was flaky yet moist, and the filling was generous and fresh. We cut it open, spread the filling across the pieces, and ate it almost like buttered bread. Truly delicious. Service: All of the staff were friendly and pleasant. Even when they were busy, it never felt rushed. They didn't initially ask if we wanted our beverages in mugs, but they were happy to accommodate when we asked. They also offered to heat up the scone, which was appreciated. Atmosphere: It's a small space with about a dozen small tables, best suited for groups of two, though there are a couple of tables that can seat four. The stained glass windows are lovely, letting in plenty of natural light and providing a beautiful view of the courtyard. It can get a little loud inside, but we were still able to have a relaxed conversation. A charming spot that fits perfectly into the American Club experience.

This place was recommended, so we decided to give it a try on a cold Saturday morning. Food: We ordered a couple of lattes and some breakfast. For drinks, it was one Vanilla Latte and one London Fog Tea Latte. We asked for mugs, but they were served in glasses instead. Not quite the same, but acceptable. Both drinks were made well, with good texture, nice flavor, and the right temperature. For food, we ordered one Veggie Quiche and a piece of Spanakopita. After they were reheated properly (see Service below), both were very good. I had the Spanakopita, and it was loaded with spinach and feta. The dough-to-filling ratio was excellent. The flavors were rich and complex. The portion size was large, larger than my appetite, but I somehow managed to keep working on it until I was completely stuffed. Service: The service around the food was disappointing. Even though we were clearly dining in, our order was marked as takeout. This created a number of issues. When the food arrived in takeout containers, I mentioned that we were eating inside (especially obvious since our drinks were in glasses). The server simply shrugged and said, "Oh well, they are marked as takeout." I went to the counter and asked for plates and that the food be brought to the proper temperature. It took a while, but they eventually returned with the food reheated, served on plates, and replaced the plastic utensils with metal ones. There was very little acknowledgment that a mistake had been made, and no real apology for the delays. Atmosphere: The place is rustic and right on the water. It reminded me of a fish shanty, in a charming way. There are a couple of different rooms for seating, and we chose one in the back that was quieter. I liked the authentic feel of it. However, there were some areas with old furniture piled up for storage, which took away a bit from the overall look. They also have an outdoor patio that overlooks the river, which would be a lovely spot to sit on a warm day. We would go back. If we ordered food again, I would just make sure they clearly understood from the start that we were dining in so the details were handled correctly.

Not sure if that is the norm or if it was because it was a holiday weekend and many other businesses were closed. We all enjoyed our meals. I especially liked the chicken curry wrap. You could tell all the food is made fresh. They have tables inside and outside. There are tables outside by the canal and some around the side of the building. We picked a table outside on the side, but a bee kept on trying to land on my sister's smoothie so we ended up eating and running.

All the locals and OG's come here for REAL authentic donuts, bread, milk, treats for special events like teachers day or customer appreciation day and a huge selection of cookies and everything is all homemade!!! and not made with all sugar like other places! Only downfall is they are closed on Sundays.

You immediately see the large case of cookies, and then donuts. Great selection with some fun topping choices like butterfinger and fruity pebbles. The employee who helped me was very nice. I think she knew I hadn't been there before because trying to decide a selection of a dozen donuts was difficult (in a good way!), so I decided to just let her pick a random selection for me. Got an iced caramel macchiato for myself which was very good. I didn't realize that they had a case of assorted cakes that I could have got for my coworkers birthday after I had already bought the donuts. This is in no way the fault of the shop because it's literally across from the donut case. I just didn't notice because it's a lot to take in! Anyway, will definitely return. The only critique I have is that you cannot add a tip if you're paying with a card. I never carry cash so I felt really bad that I couldn't tip the lady that helped me. They should change that somehow. Other than that, great place!

Awakening has an array of espresso beverages and coffee as well as smoothies and a few baked items. My dining companion and I both opted for one of their seasonal specialty lattes. They have milk alternatives, so we were both able to get our desired almond milk for our lattes. Their espresso is pitch perfect. I can not overstate this. Seriously, one of the best lattes I have had the pleasure of consuming in the entire state of Wisconsin right here in little ol' Kohler. That alone made the drive from Milwaukee worth it. Their bites are limited to bakery sweet treats. I'm not much for sweet in the morning but was pleased to find that the grocery store where Awakening is situated has lovely savory breakfast options. As I mentioned, they are situated inside a grocery store but don't let that deter you. The grocery store itself is charming and they have a lovely dining area in the middle of the store where you can enjoy your coffee and bites. Our barista was absolutely lovely. They were the one who clued us in on the delicious breakfast bites that we could get at the adjacent deli in addition to serving up such a delicious latte. Get to it!
