First thing I noticed was how nice the staff was. They greeted me on my way in and were more than happy to help with any questions I had. They were also quick to help people place orders at the register when the kiosk got a little backed up. However, I do recommend using the kiosk because they have a "secret menu" that isn't written on the normal menu. Plus you get to see pictures of every single item which helps if you don't know what you want. While ordering I couldn't help but think the tacos were overpriced (at least $6 for a single taco), but when the tacos came out it validated the price a little. Each taco was piled up with filling and they are a little larger than typical street tacos. Both of the tacos I had were delicious. We decided to give Torchy's one more try, dining in, since our delivery orders have been epically bad. Well, today's lunch was a complete fail. Ordered a bowl and a salad with grilled shrimp, chips and guacamole and small tots. The salad was just not good, the shrimp were barely cooked (see photo) and loaded with so many onions and just a weird combo of flavors. The tots were so salty, the bacon tasted off (sort of metallic?) and we didn't even finish the half portion! The chips were extremely salty as well. Honestly, the best part of the lunch was my drink and I made that! I mixed horchata with the cold brew and it was good. A really crummy lunch that set us back FIFTY DOLLARS. Crazy expensive for lunch, but especially for a lousy meal. Plenty of parking, clean ladies room and well lit restaurant. We are done with Torchy's, just not worth the money. read more

We paid nearly $100 for all this food and we only got 7 tacos, 2 kids quesadillas and hillbilly queso plus two kids drinks and two adults drink. Personally that's a bit more expensive than I ever remember torchys to be. The Baja shrimp was good but didn't seem grilled as it had hardly any flavor. Maybe cooked shrimp like you get out of the bag at the store but it was okay. Brushfire taco was on point I appreciate the hot sauce on the side because whee it was hot. Honestly it was the only thing I enjoyed. My chicken fajita taco was just alright, I picked off most of the toppings and only ate the meat... The hillbilly queso was decent. I went to check out using Apple Pay. It was one amount. After Apple Pay went through an additional $4.09 was added as a tip...it then took me 15 minutes to contact the store to cancel this order. I didn't authorize this extra charge...charging a hidden tip and an online fee is crazy!!! I talked with the manager and told him this and told him I wanted thr order cancelled. He said fine. I started to ask if I needed to wait on the phone but he hung up on me already.... Few minutes later I got an email stating he refunded me $4....not even the full tip amount! I enjoy their tacos and salsa. And really enjoy the fajitas and the Jerk Bonfire bowls. But let me tell you, that Salmon Bonfire bowl is a rip off! They give you a child's size portion of salmon. That is not gone work for my husband at all. When I brought it to the managers attention, he did resolve the situation but we know not to order the salmon going forward. The restaurant is clean and nice. Good atmosphere. The staff were friendly. The food was good and flavorful. One of my pet peeves with food is when it's served and it's not all piping hot (unless it's supposed to be served chilled). The refried beans, tots, and corn were served hot. However, the soft taco shells were not warmed. They were cool to the touch, and it negatively impacted the experience. Additionally, the prices were very high in relation to the quantity of food. Typically, at these prices, a taco order (as example) would include 3 tacos, maybe two, and possibly a side. But here there was only one. Also, the sides were very expensive. Everything was à la carte. It was just my wife and I. We ordered 2 Baja shrimp tacos, a fried avocado taco, tots, refried beans, and corn (regular size, but it was a very small portion). With a couple of waters and a 20% tip, it came to just under $49. I'm guessing, but this restaurant strikes me as being a former food truck converted into a sit-down restaurant. As such, I'm sure the cost of leasing such a large place could make the business model a tough one, leading to inflated prices. So the concepts of the food are creative and tasty, with a slight need for improvement. But, the overall cost for what you get is not a good value proposition in my estimation. For this reason, we likely won't return. We frequent a number of Mexican restaurants that I prefer. But, if you want to try something interesting and creative, and cost isn't a concern, it might be worth a visit. read more

Very friendly service and clean location. The menu is very simple to understand and nothing too fancy. It's like having a food truck menu but just in a brick and mortar location. The location is very easy to locate with ample parking but I can see it being more of an issue on a very busy day. We decided to order a few things to just get a taste of what Torchy's has to offer. All items came out hot and pretty quick. For the price, I would have expected a little bit more food - but then again it's "street" tacos so eh. The food itself was fresh and ok. Nothing truly amazing or mind blowing for me. Would we come back? Maybe. I can't say it's one of those that I would be running back to if I wanted true Mexican food. read more

I really wanted to like Torchys after trying it for the 2nd time and this visit proved I'm not sold on Torchys. I ordered two brushfire tacos and expected it to be really really good. The heat was a bit overwhelming and the fruit was too plentiful. It offered no balance in the experience. I took the fruit and forced a whole taco the other half of the second taco was trashed. Now, this may be the place to go if you're into Tex-Mex or creative tacos on a flour tortilla. This just wasn't for me. I will say they have great churros- hands down! I remember when they first opened in Wake Forest, so good and the protein portion sizes were so much more. While the taste is still good, portion size not so much. I understand times are hard for these restaurants, i stopped going to Chipotle because of this same thing. So disheartening! And i may stay away from the bowls moving forward. read more

I stopped in last night and ordered a Tokyo Drifter and queso. While the queso was good, the taco was not. The meat on the taco was dried out. To be honest, it looked like the taco had been sitting under a heat lamp for a day. Just not good. Also, this place has gone downhill since it opened. Visited newest outlet for Torchy's in Wake Forest during their soft opening. It's a square shop, line to the right, order and pay at the back, the team brings the food to the table. It was busy, busy, busy on this night. Beware the small parking lot - we had to circle a few times, as all spots were full. The standard Torchy's menu - Damn Good Tacos. Tried the Democrat and the Crossroads. Both are similar - one with barbacoa, one with beef brisket. Two are enough to fill you up. Meat is juicy, tender and flavorful, veggies and cheese fresh. All you could want in a taco. Chips and queso are delicious - warm chips, a little kick to the queso. Also tried the Airstream salad. Nice sized portion, all the veggies crisp and fresh. The pistachios make the meal - a nice salty/earthy taste to complement the chipotle sauce and champagne vinaigrette. There are a LOT of taco places, between brick & mortar and food trucks. Torchy's not the absolute best tacos I've ever had, but definitely up there. read more

This place has gone down hill in a major way. When they first opened it was awesome. Quick takeout and the tacos were delicious. That is NOT the case now. The last two times we got takeout it was ice cold. They don't put it in the takeout cabinets you have to wait on line and ask and the restaurant is a mess. Dirty and garbage everywhere. This is one of the rare occasions I am not in alignment with the current rating of a restaurant. Everyone else seems to love it but I was underwhelmed after all the positive things I saw on Nextdoor and read on yelp. $7+ for one taco also gave me really high expectations. I ordered Togo online. Picked up my order and got home only then to realize (my fault for not checking the bag) I was missing an entire order. I ordered as a group and shared the link so others in my household could pick what they want without relaying the info to me. Apparently when you do that, it must create separate orders in the kitchen. When your food is ready, they place them in cubbies by name. So when I arrived, I went to the cubby associated with my name, grabbed my bag and left. Apparently I needed to also check the other cubbies to get the other orders even though this was all one order. Who knew? Went back to get my son's food, manager was extremely apologetic and cooked us fresh tacos. That was nice and I didn't expect it. He also gave us a coupon for free Queso when we return. I'd say the tacos were good and very flavorful but I wouldn't say worth all the hype. 5 stars from me is tasting something I don't think I could make at home, blew me away. Went there for the first time late last week. While I had visions of tasty crunchy tacos, I was surprised to find Torchy's does not serve tacos. I found this strange considering 'tacos' is in their name? I went ahead and ordered the enchiladas (that they list as tacos?). The counter person who took my order was very nice and helpful in recommending some besides traditional tacos. I was given a device that lights up and vibrates once my order was prepared. Curiously you don't go up and get your food, they bring it to you. While you'd think that's a good thing, it forced the food runners to go to every table to find the correct customer. I would think the old 'flag with a number' would work better and reduce confusion. The food was fair but not worth the price IMO. If Torchy's ever brings in good crunchy tacos I'll give it another shot, but not before. read more

It's legit, happy they are now open in Wake Forest! Our to-go order was ready on time, and it's unique food that's very tasty. The monthly special, an Indian flavored taco is VERY tasty. Like the flavors of a good Indian restaurant wrapped in a tortilla. Green chili pork, more traditional, but also very good. The fried chicken taco is unique and very tasty. Even the pinto beans and rice were extra flavorful compared with what most places offer.
